James M. Andersen

Kennebunk, Maine

James M. Andersen, age 80, resident of Beach Avenue, Kennebunk formerly of Concord, MA, died Monday at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, ME.

Mr. Andersen was born April 18, 1923 in Acton, MA a son of John Henry and Olga (Ostberg) Andersen. He is a 1941 graduate of Acton High School. He served in the US Army-Air Force during WW II. And served with the North Atlantic Wing Air Transport Command, He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars along with American Theater Campaign Medal. Following the War he became a prominent builder in the Concord and Acton, MA area during the 60’s and 70’s.

He retired moved to Maine upon retiring 18 years ago. He attended the Evangelical Free Church in Concord, MA for over thirty years. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kennebunk. An avid golfer and was a member of Dutch Elm Golf Club in Arundel, ME. He also served on the Louis T. Graves Memorial Library Building Committee in Kennebunkport.

He is predeceased by his wife Margaret (Carson) Andersen in 2001 and a son Kent J. Andersen in 1956.

He is survived by a son Keith J. Andersen of Sanford, a daughter Mrs. John (Jean A.) Bailey of Kennebunk, a brother Walter Andersen of Acton, MA, a sister Helen Estabrook of Sun City, AZ, 4 grandchildren Melissa J. Bailey of Portland, OR, John H. Bailey III of Seattle, Washington, Jennie Marie Larson of Newburyport, MA and Jaycen A. Denorscia of Framingham, MA and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday August 28 at 10AM from the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kennebunk. Interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, MA.

Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2 Lord St., Kennebunk, ME 04043 or to Caring Unlimited, PO Box 590, Sanford, ME 04073 in Mr. Andersen’s memory.

John Steven Harrison, 49, a resident of Kennebunk, passed away peacefully December 3 at Maine Medical Center after courageously battling a long illness.

Kathleen A. Lessard 56 years a resident of Sullivan Street, Berwick died Tuesday December 16, 2003 at her home with loving family at her side.

She was born in Rochester, NH on January 13, 1947 a daughter of Lawrence A. and Arlene m. (Greiner) Verville.

Kathleen was educated at Holy Trinity School, Somersworth, NH and graduated from Somersworth High School in 1965. She held an LPN degree from Exeter School of Nursing; She graduated from Duke University Medical Center as a Medical and Surgical Nurse in 1968. She received a Bachelor of Science from Franklin Pierce College in 1994 and a Master of Science from New Hampshire College in 1996.

On May 10, 1969, She married Gerald L. (Jerry) Lessard of Somersworth and they had two sons.

As a nurse, Kathleen worked at the Langdon Home, Frisbie Memorial Hospital and the Riverside Rest Home of Rochester, NH. She was an educator at the Noble Adult and Community Education Center, was a substitute teacher at Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH and Sanford High School in Sanford, ME. From 1996 until her retirement, She taught at the Somersworth Middle School.

Kathy had a tremendous sense of fun that she shared with family and close friends. Her tea parties for the grandchildren were legendary.

She is survived by her parents of Berwick , her husband of 34 yrs, Gerald L. (Jerry) of Berwick, two sons Parrish and his wife Debra K (Fuller) Lessard and Jayson and Angeline Marie (Goodrich) Lesaard both of Berwick, a brother Wilfred and his wife Janet Verville of Kittery and a sister Carol Verville of Naples, Florida and seven grandchildren Tyle, Wyley, Bryson, Kayla, Kadin, Kassidy and Kelsey Lessard all of Berwick.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday December 19th, 2003 from 9:00 to 10: 30 AM at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel 36 Rochester Street Berwick following a funeral mass will be held at 11 AM at the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Berwick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wentworth Homecare and Hospice LLC 113 Rochester Road Suite #4 Dover, NH 03820-8805 in Mrs. Lessard’s memory.

Laurette J. Goodwin

Laurette J. Goodwin 75 years a resident of Alfred Road, West Kennebunk died Sunday July 6, 2003 at the Kennebunk Nursing Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester, NH on January 9, 1928 a daughter of Lucian and Marie Cadieux and attended Manchester Schools.
She was employed by Morning Star (Corning) of Kennebunk as assembler for over 18 years.
Laurette was a member of the Saco Grange of Saco, and the Advent Christian Church of Goodwin’s Mills, Dayton.
Laurette enjoyed riding with her husband Karl to deliver the Biddeford Journal Tribune Newspapers in the Kennebunk area for several years.
She loved sewing, gardening and also enjoyed playing in the bowling league at the Vacationland of Saco for several years.
She was predeceased by her son Lee Goodwin who died in 1979.

She is survived by her husband Karl Goodwin of West Kennebunk 2 sons Mark Goodwin of Boise Idaho, Dale Goodwin of Lyman , two daughters Donna Stackpole of Kennebunk and Robin Milliard of West Kennebunk, a brother Fred Poirier of West Kennebunk and 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel
67 summer Street Kennebunk where a funeral will be held at 1 PM Thursday with the Reverend Joseph J. Saunders officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, West Kennebunk.

Linda L. Spiller

Linda L. Spiller, age 99 of Kennebunk, died Monday, April 5, 2004 at the Gorham House.
She was born in Waterboro, ME on July 29, 1904, the daughter of Eddie A. and Emma R. Roberts Littlefield and attended Hollis schools.
Linda worked for the Kennebunk School Department as a cook. She cooked at Cousens School from 1955 and moved with the cafeteria to Park Street School. She retired in 1996 at the age of 91.
Linda was known for her sense of humor, and loved cooking, gardening, knitting, sewing, and the Red Sox. She especially enjoyed time spent with family and treasuring the joy of being a grandmother and great grandmother.
She is predeceased by her husband, Carl S. Spiller and three brothers, Harrison, Oscar and Keith Littlefield.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith Walley of North Berwick and Carole Thompson and her husband, Edward of Buxton; a brother, Bertran Littlefield of Buxton; four grandchildren, Jennifer Boyd of Kennebunk, Meredith Walley of Wells, Kristie Pellerin of Dayton, ME and Matthew Thompson of Germany; and four great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 6-8p.m. Thursday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, where a funeral service will be held at 3p.m. Friday with Rev. Carolyn Lambert officiating. Interment will be at Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Kennebunk Fire Rescue, 1 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME 04043.

Lucinda M. Jones

Lucinda “Cindy” M. Jones 45 years a resident of Day Street Kennebunk died Friday August 8, 2003 at the Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford.
Cindy was born in Portland, Me on December 27, 1957 a daughter of Kenneth Howard and Hazel Nedeau Jones.
Cindy was involved with Waban of Sanford since its beginning and for several years, she lived in a group home on Day Street, Kennebunk.
She was loved by all.
Cindy was predeceased by her father.
She is survived by her mother of Kennebunk, two sisters Susan F. Jones of Kennebunk, Sherry E. Jones of Buxton, a nephew Alexander Kenneth Jones of Kennebunk and several aunts and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk, Maine where a funeral will be held 1 PM Monday at the Chapel with the Reverend Stephen Hastings officiating.
Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.

Should friends desire memorial donations to the Camp Waban RT. 4 Sanford, Maine 04073 in Cindy’s memory.

Margaret M. King

Margaret M. King passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday June 9, 2004, at her home on Kings Lane, Kennebunk Beach, Maine. Mrs. King was born in Orrington, Maine on September 21, 1918. One of 11 children of Andrew and Konstancya (Kaczmarek) Nowak, she grew up in Bangor, Maine, and was a graduate of John Bapst High School.
After graduation, she attended the School of Cosmetology in Bangor.
She married John J. King in 1940, and they enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. Her husband passed away on September 9, 1996.
Mrs. King was a well-known hair stylist in Portland for many years, owning her own in-home shop. Her clients were truly her friends. When they moved to Kennebunk Beach in the 1970s, she continued in her profession.
Mrs. King was involved in many volunteer and social organizations, and these last years she enjoyed getting together with her friends in the "needlers" group.
She loved her family dearly and took great pride in everything they did. She was very proud of her Polish heritage.
Mrs. King is survived by her three children, Stanley King of Amherst, NH, and his wife Annette; Catherine Francoeur of Portland, ME, and her husband Michel; and Michael King of Rollinsford, NH, and his wife Elaine. She is also survived by her grandson Mark Francoeur of Merrimack, NH, and Tracey Zona and her daughter Taylor; her grandson Scott Francoeur of New York City and his wife Tara and their children Nicholas and Christopher; her grandson Mark King of Amherst, NH; her grandson Jason King of Newport, RI, and his wife Heather; and Miranda of Rollinsford, NH, the grandaughter of Michael and Elaine King and daughter of Leslie Larocque. Her one surviving sister is Helene Cluff of Portland, ME.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Martha’s Church on Route 1 in Kennebunk on Monday, June 14, at 11 AM with Father Laplante as officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106 in her memory.

Marie Florence Surette

Marie Florence Surette 67 years a resident of Largo, FLA formerly of Berwick, ME died Thursday June 3, 2004 at the Douglass-Wentworth Hospital in Dover while visiting her family in Maine and NH.

She was born in Lynn, MA on November 11, 1936, a daughter of Severen J. and Florence M. (LePier) Plourde and graduated from Lynn Schools. She lived in Lynnfield MA until 1977 when she moved to Berwick. She lived there until 1995 and then moved to Largo, FLA.

She was a restaurant owner for several years, and she also was a homemaker for many years.

She enjoyed bingo, going to flea markets and avid lover of Auctions.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard J. Surette and her son Wayne R. Surette.

She is survived by her four sons Glenn R Surette of Dover, NH, Todd M. Surette of Largo, FLA, Keven L. Surette of Rochester, NH and Kyle P. Surette of Berwick, ME., and 10 grandchildren. She also survived by her brothers Robert and Jack Plorude both of Lynn, MA.

Per Mrs. Surette request, there will be no funeral services.

Burial will be in Purtian Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, MA.

Marilyn Giles

Kennebunk- Marilyn Giles, 55 years, a resident of Sylvan Circle, Kennebunk, died Christmas day at the Southern Maine Medical Center after struggling with a long illness.

Marilyn was born July 26, 1948 in Springfield, MA a daughter of Cary and Marion Witzel Giles. After earning her Bachelor’s degree, Marilyn worked as a physical therapist in the York county area at the Visiting Nurses Service out of Saco.

Marilyn enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found walking on the beach. She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed her family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by: her parents, Cary and Marion Giles; son Mathew Cary Giles-Huntsberger; daughter Brittany Giles-Huntsberger; brothers Stuart C. and David S. Giles;and her sister Holly Giles.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 31 at 11 am at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Kennebunk with Reverend Dan Riggall and Reverend Amanda Stevens officiating. A gathering will follow after the service in the church hall.

Marshall C. Boston

Marshall C. Boston 81 years a resident of Sanford Road, Wells died Thursday February 5, 2004 at the York Hospital.

Marshall was born in Wells, Me December 5, 1922, a son of Victor L and Blanche W Wakefield Boston and graduated from Wells High School in the class of 1940.

He was a Staff Sgt with the US Army during WWII. He served in the Amphibious Brigade in the South Pacific and during the Occupation of Japan in 1943-1945.

After the war, he was employed by the United States Postal Services of Wells as mail carrier for 36 years before retiring in 1982.

Marshall was involved in the Wells Community. He was a Charter Member of the Wells Beach Hose Co. and served on the school board and school building committee. He was a member of the Wells Athletic Boosters and coached the Wells Little League and Babe Ruth teams. He was a member of the Wells Clam Commission and the Pheasant program.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.

He is predeceased by his son Michael and his brothers Morris and Lawrence “Sonny” Boston.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Davis Boston, two sons Thomas W. Boston and his wife Crystal Boston and William Z. “Bill” Boston all of Wells. A brother, Robert Boston, Sr. of North Berwick, 7 grandchildren: Dustin, Michael, Heather, Zackary, Cole, Brigitte and Sarah Boston and also 3 Great-grandchildren, Cody, Audra and Sonja Boston.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 PM Sunday February 8, 2004 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 111 Chapel Road Wells where a funeral will be held at 1PM Monday February 9, 2004 with the Reverend Stephen Hastings officiating.

Interment will be in Ocean View cemetery Wells.

Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Wells High School Athletics Boosters Sanford Road Wells, Maine 04090 in Mr. Boston’s memory.
