Henry E. Couture

Henry Edward Couture, Jr., age 60, resident of Hanson Road, Berwick died unexpectedly Monday June 14 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover. He is the husband of Barbara J. (Foye) Couture.

Mr. Couture was born October 17, 1943 in Portsmouth, NH a son of Henry E. and Barbara S. (Fogg) Couture, Sr.. He attended Portsmouth schools.

Henry enjoyed the outdoors and was often out fishing, hunting, motorcycling, boating, or riding ATVs. He loved spending time with his wife and family.

Henry is predeceased by his brother Wayne and his sister Peggie.

Mr. Couture is survived by his wife Barbara of 43 years; daughters Pamela J. Piller, Karin M. Carson, Judy A. and her husband Keven L. Surette, whom Henry refered to as his son; five grandchildren Jolene and Steven Demers, Greg A. Piller, Tonya and Ryan Surette; and one sister, Sheila Bennington.

Visiting hours will be Saturday 9 to 11 AM at Laing Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick with a funeral service following. Reverend Peggy Dunn will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society of New England, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1246 in Mr. Couture’s memory.

Irene A. Mathieu

Irene A. Mathieu, 87, a resident of Westgate Manor, Bangor, formerly of Fletcher Street, Kennebunk, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 in Bangor.

She was born in Sanford, a daughter of George and Malvina Martin L'Heureux. She attended Sanford schools.

She married Alfred Mathieu in 1945.

Irene and her late husband ran the Mathieu Jewelry store in Kennebunk until 1976.

She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening, walking and spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, who died in 1999, a brother, Raymond L'Heureux, and two sisters, Jeanette Bernier and Beatrice Legere.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cecile Shields of Greenville, and Carlene Brockmann of Columbia Falls; three brothers, Real L'Heureux, Edward L'Heureux, and Rev. Ernest L'Heureux, all of Sanford; a sister, Cecile Therrian of Sanford; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday Feb. 22, at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.

A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Martha's Church, Portland Road, Kennebunk with the Rev. Ernest L'Heuruex officiating.

Interment will be in Hope cemetery April 24, 2004 at 1 PM.

Irma A. Roberts

Irma A. Roberts 76 years a resident of School Street Berwick died Tuesday July 6, 2004 at the Varney Crossing Nursing Home, North Berwick after a long illness.

She was born in Berwick on July 10, 1927 a daughter of Clyde and Harriett (Hurd) Randall Sr..

She graduated from Berwick High School and also graduated from McIntosh College in Dover.

She was a long time Secretary for several insurance Companies including Bracket and Shaw of Berwick, Ham’s Insurance Inc of South Berwick and the Spence and Mathews Insurance Company of Berwick.

She also was employed by the Varney Crossing Nursing Home as Housekeeper for several years.

She enjoyed Cooking, Fishing, Arts and Crafts and also spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother Clyde Randall Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years Carlton Roberts of Berwick, a sister in law Pearl Randall of North Berwick, two nephews David Roberts of South Berwick, Donald Roberts and his wife Rachel of Theresa, New York, two grand nieces Elizabeth and Katherine Roberts and several cousins.

Visiting hours will be held from 11 AM to 12 NoonPM Saturday July 10th at the Laing–Bibber Funeral Chapel 36 Rochester Street, Berwick where a funeral will be held at noon at the Chapel with the Reverend Mark Rideout officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.

Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the American Diabetes Association - Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster Street, Suite 98R, Portland, ME 04101 in Mrs. Roberts’s memory.

James D. Moulison, Sr.

Kennebunk, Maine

James D. Moulison, 85 years, formerly of Salem, MA, a resident of Huntington Common Dr, Kennebunk, ME died Thursday at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, ME. after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Vina Pauline (Deschene) Moulison.

Mr. Moulison was born in Salem, Mass June 27, 1917 a son of Enos Charles and Mary Edna (Faulkner) Moulison. He attended Salem and Lynn, MA public schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lynn. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as an Electricians Mate Second Class and served on the USS Bibb.

Mr. Moulison was employed at the General Electric Company in Lynn, MA. Following the war and in 1950 he formed the James D. Moulison Co. Inc Electrical Construction until his retirement in 1982. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Wenham Golf Club, the Salem Country Club and the Pinehurst North Carolina Country Club. He was a life member of the K of C. and the Kiwanis Club of Salem, MA. Del Ray Beach, FL and Southern Pines Club in NC.

A brother Richard C. Moulison and a sister Anna Moulison predeceased him.

Mr. Moulison is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vina Pauline Moulison, two sons Kenneth G. Moulison of Wells, ME and James D. Moulison Jr. of Peabody, MA , two daughters Elaine Greenhalge of Powell, OH and Ann Elwell of Essex, MA, one brother Robert Moulison of Peabody, MA and a sister Elaine Newhall of Peabody, MA. Seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk Monday morning from 9:30am to 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11AM Monday at St. Martha’s Church, Portland Rd. Kennebunk, ME with the Reverend Fr. Laurent Laplante. Interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery Salem, MA.

James "Jimmy" Koufos

James “Jimmy” Koufos, 75 years, of Bernier Street, Somersworth, NH died Tuesday, April 27 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH.

Jimmy was born on May 30, 1928 in Somersworth, NH a son of Christos and Alexandria Papakriste Koufos. He was a graduate of Somersworth High School. Jimmy was a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army. After the Service, Jimmy went on to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until retirement.

Jimmy served as the Post Commander of the American Legion in Somersworth. He was also a member of AHEPA.

Jimmy enjoyed life. He loved his family. In their words: “(He) Leaves behind 2 grandchildren who he greatly loved, Nicholas who he often compared to his son Chris, a busy little boy full of energy and love, and Emily, his beautiful little Emmie he always called her.” Jimmy also loved visiting with his friends and neighbors, sharing a beer and swapping stories.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Ann of 40 years, sons Dean Koufos of Somersworth and Christos Koufos and his wife Tracy of Louden, NH; sisters Mary Pappey of Redding, MA and Freda and his brother-in-law Harry Sakas of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; 2 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday, April 29 at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick, Maine. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, April 30 at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church in Somersworth. Interment will follow at the Greek Orthodox cemetery in Somersworth.

James M. Andersen

Kennebunk, Maine

James M. Andersen, age 80, resident of Beach Avenue, Kennebunk formerly of Concord, MA, died Monday at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, ME.

Mr. Andersen was born April 18, 1923 in Acton, MA a son of John Henry and Olga (Ostberg) Andersen.

He is a 1941 graduate of Acton High School. He served in the US Army-Air Force during WW II.

And served with the North Atlantic Wing Air Transport Command, He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars along with American Theater Campaign Medal.

Following the War he became a prominent builder in the Concord and Acton, MA area during the 60’s and 70’s.

He retired moved to Maine upon retiring 18 years ago.

He attended the Evangelical Free Church in Concord, MA for over thirty years.

He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kennebunk.

An avid golfer and was a member of Dutch Elm Golf Club in Arundel, ME.

He also served on the Louis T. Graves Memorial Library Building Committee in Kennebunkport.

He is predeceased by his wife Margaret (Carson) Andersen in 2001 and a son Kent J. Andersen in 1956.

He is survived by a son Keith J. Andersen of Sanford, a daughter Mrs. John (Jean A.) Bailey of Kennebunk, a brother Walter Andersen of Acton, MA, a sister Helen Estabrook of Sun City, AZ, 4 grandchildren Melissa J. Bailey of Portland, OR, John H. Bailey III of Seattle, Washington, Jennie Marie Larson of Newburyport, MA and Jaycen A. Denorscia of Framingham, MA and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday August 28 at 10AM from the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kennebunk. Interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord, MA.

Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2 Lord St., Kennebunk, ME 04043 or to Caring Unlimited, PO Box 590, Sanford, ME 04073 in Mr. Andersen’s memory.

James L. Ward

James L. Ward, 88, of Alewive Road, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 at the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Kennebunk on Feb. 28, 1916, a son of Harold E. and Irma Lavin Ward. He attended Kennebunk schools and Hebron Academy.

During World War II, James served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for four years, first in England, then in the invasion of Italy. He was stationed on an air base there, and drove an ambulance helping crash victims.

Returning home after the war, he worked for 32 years at the Portsmouth Navy Yard.

He is survived by two nephews, Bruce Ward of Gorham and John Ward of Silver Spring, Md.; two nieces, Kathleen Yde of Chuluota, Fla., and Patricia Costello of Upton, Mass.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Hope cemetery in Kennebunk.

James E. Cyr

West Kennebunk – James E. Cyr, age 76 of Alfred Road, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Southern Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Kennebunk on January 20, 1929, the son of Lawrence H. and Esther M. Allen Cyr.

Mr. Cyr was educated in Kennebunk schools and married Naomi A. Johnson on March 18, 1949.

As a young man, James worked in local shops and mills. He had worked at West Kennebunk Twine Mill, National Woodworking and Portable Saw Mills of R. Littlefield after the 1947 forest fires.

James spent the bulk of his career at Keuffel & Esser Company in Kennebunk until their closing in the mid 1980’s. He then went to Arlen Box Company in Kennebunk and later held a part time position with 3M Plastics in West Kennebunk.

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, canoeing, fishing and hunting, and instilling in them his deep love and respect for all nature had to offer.
James also enjoyed Chinese food, country music, listening to “Imus in the Morning”, holidays, and special times spent with friends and family.

One of his favorite places to be was his basement workshop where he created heirlooms and furniture for his ever expanding family. He made dressers, footstools, high chairs and cradles that have been passed on through generations and most are still in service today.

He is predeceased by his wife, who died on May 18, 1982; and two sisters, Marjorie Cowgill of Kennebunk, and Julia Lizotte of Connecticut.

Surviving are his son, Timothy of Arundel; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Julia) Theriault of Wells, and Mrs. Richard (Lisa) Ryan of Biddeford; two sisters, Norma Houle of Springvale, and Carol Lizotte of Kennebunk; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; his dear special friend for these last many years, Ruby Reid of Acton; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7p.m. Friday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, where a funeral service will be held at 1p.m. Saturday.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Kennebunk Fire & Rescue, 1 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME. 04043.

Kennebunkport- James E. Cockfield, 74, of Kennebunkport, formerly of Brookline, Mass, died March 23 at Southern Maine Medical Center.
