Karl J. Bailey 89 years, a resident of Leesburg, Fla. formerly of Kennebunkport, Me died Friday May 28 at the Leesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Eleanor Thompson Bailey.

Mr. Bailey was born in Barnet, Vermont May 7, 1915 a son of Clarence and Myra Bailey he attended Vermont Schools. He was employed with Patz Milking Systems of New Hampshire After moving to Maine he was employed with P.R. Boston Paving Company of North Berwick & Wells, Me. He then owned and operated his own Farm in Kennebunkport, Me for over 30 years retiring in 1980. He moved to Florida several years ago.

He was a member of the former Arundel Grange and a member of the Bedford Snow Owls of Bedford, New Hampshire.

He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Ken Nutter, Norman Nutter, Marion Nutter, Rowaine Nutter and Elsie Stephanazzi.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor T. Bailey, a daughter Norma Bailey Theobald both of Leesburg, Fla., a son Richard Wayne Bailey and a stepson Willis Fred Merrill of Kennebunk. Two brothers Dean Kinne of Naples, Fla. Gordon Gilbert of Barre, Vt. Two sisters Lucille Nystrom of Fairlee, Vt. And Teresa Gilbert, 10 Grandchildren , 19 great-grand children and 13 great great- grandchildren.

Graveside services were held in Arundel cemetery Kennebunkport, Me

Kathleen Burgess

Kathleen E. Burgess, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2003 at Kennebunk Nursing Center after spending the day with several members of her family.

A lifelong resident of the area, Kathleen was born to Arthur F. and Elsie N. Wyman Burgess on the family farm in Arundel where she lived and cared for her parents until their deaths. She then became a resident of Kennebunk.

Kathleen graduated from Kennebunk High School and worked at Crossmans Clothing Store, Dr. McPhetres Dental Office and retired after many years with Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Wells Water District.

Beloved "Auntie" to her large extended family, Kathleen assumed the role of matriarch, working diligently over the years to maintain connections and communication within her widely scattered members. Birthdays and traditional holidays were faithfully and joyously observed to the particular delight of younger nieces and nephews over the individuality of the decorated birthday cakes Kathleen created for them.

Kathleen is survived by her sister, Mary Jane and Don Lamontagne of Gorham, N.H.; her brothers, William A. and Wilma Burgess of Farmington, ME, and Allan W. and Eve Burgess of Kennebunk; many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11a.m. Saturday, February 14, at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Kennebunk, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the church hall.

Burial will be at Hope cemetery in the Spring.

Donations can be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Assoc., 10 Bangor Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

Langdon P. Horne

Langdon P. Horne, age 94 yrs, a resident of Varney Crossing Nursing Home died Sunday, Dec 28, at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was the widower of Doris Horne who died in 1994.

He was born April 29, 1909 in Sanford, ME a son of Angelo and Charlotte (Linnell) Horne.

He attended Sanford schools. For several years he was employed at the Goodall Worster Mills in Sanford, ME and later as a stone mason.

He enjoyed gardening and painting.
Langdon is survived by his son, Milton Horne of Springvale, Me. two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Linda) Guimond of Lyman and Mrs. Maynard (Carol) Bridges of Wells, ME, two sisters Arlene Horne of Sanford, ME and Virginia Wallace of FL, a brother Forrest Horne of West Kennebunk, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Private Graveside services were held in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport, ME.

Laurence H. Atwood

Laurence H. Atwood, 88 of Kennebunk, formerly of Upton, MA for 57 years, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004.

He was born May 26, 1915 in Milford, MA, the son of Henry G. and Bessie (Brown) Atwood.

He graduated from Upton High School in 1933 and Worcester Boys Trade School in 1936.

In 1938, he married Dorothy Aldrich.

He ran his own construction business for 35 years before moving to Maine in 1976. He also worked with Craig Wellman of Kennebunk for 10 years.

He was a member of Christ Church. He was also a member of York Lodge of Masons for 52 years and Madonna Chapter of OES for 51 years.

He was predeceased by his wife in 2002.

He is survived by his son, Stephen B. Atwood of Mendon, MA, his daughter, Linda K. and her husband Alanson Wood of Pittsfield, NH, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beacon Hospice, 54 Atlantic Place, South Portland, ME. 04106.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 20, 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30pm.

A funeral service will be held at the Christ Church Saturday, February 21, at 10:00 am, Reverend Steven Hastings will be officiating.

Interment will follow at the Lakeview cemetery in Upton, MA at 2:30 pm.

Leo Mark St. Onge

Wells – Leo Mark St.Onge, age 53 of Wells, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 in Portsmouth, N.H.

He was born in Putnam, CT. on March 13, 1951, a son of Charles and Livette Bernier St. Onge.

He attended Putnam schools and graduated from Putnam High School. He also received an Associate Degree from Manchester Community College in Manchester, CT.

Leo worked at Pratt & Whitney for 35 years, most recently at the Berwick facility for the last 11 years, and was a Project Engineer.

He married Diane Beauregard on July 31, 1982.

Leo is predeceased by a brother, Charles St. Onge.

He is survived by his wife of Wells; his parents of Putnam, CT; three sons, Michael, Kevin and David, all of Wells; and a brother, Richard St. Onge of Woodstock, CT.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church, Eldridge Road in Wells.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to a charity of your choice.

A second service will be held Saturday June 19, 10:30AM at St. Mary’s Church, Providence St, Putnam, CT.

Arrangements are under the care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells.

Leone M. Maling

Lyman – Leone M. Maling, age 74 of Country Way, Lyman, died Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Evergreen Manor in Saco.

She was born in Rockland, Maine on July 29, 1929, a daughter of Herbert and Katrina Smith Baum, I.

She attended local schools and graduated from Kennebunk High School.

Leone was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the Lower Village Mothers Club and was a loving mother and grandmother.

A brother, Herbert Baum, II predeceased her in 2004.

She is survived by her husband, Milton G. Maling of Lyman; a son Milton G. Maling, Jr. of Kennebunkport; a daughter, Linda Shelley and her husband, John of Lyman; a granddaughter,
Shelley Alley and her husband Dave of Cleveland, N.Y.; a great granddaughter, Jessie Gage of Lyman; two great grandsons, Jason Gage of Cleveland, N.Y. and Zachary Gage of Stratham, N.H.; a sister, Mrs. Robert Gould of Kennebunk, and seven nieces and nephews.

There will be a private graveside service only.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Goodwins Mills Fire & Rescue, 481 Goodwins Mills Road, Lyman, ME 04002.

Leotina Wells

Leotina Wells, age 92, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Attleboro, MA, a daughter of Manuel and Deolinda Augusta Souza.

Leotina had lived in Wells since 1957 coming there from Cambridge, MA. and was a homemaker most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and enjoyed knitting.

Her husband, John L. Wells, Sr. died in 1966. A brother, Joseph Souza, and a sister, Cecelia Austin also predeceased her.

Survivors include a son, John L. Wells, Jr. and his wife DonnaLee of Fremont, N.H.; a daughter, Helen Cousins of Wells; three brothers, Raymond of N.H., Manuel of Wells, ME and Bernard of Hampton, N.H.; two sisters, Mary Fernandes of Cambridge, MA., and Alice McGurty of Arlington, MA.; three grandchildren, Rebecca Wells of Amherst, MA, John Wells of Florida and Warren Cousins, Jr. of Wells; and three great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 6-8p.m. Thursday at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, where a funeral service will be held at 12:30p.m. Friday with Rev. Joseph Ford officiating.

Burial will be at the Woodlawn cemetery in Everett, MA on Monday, May 3, at 11a.m.

Lucille C. Hutchins

Lucille C. Hutchins, age 79 of Fletcher Street, died Thursday, August 19, 2004 at the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Westbrook on October 6, 1924, a daughter of Jenness and Ruby Sinclair Cash.

Lucille attended Westbrook schools and graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1942. She also attended and graduated from Gorham Normal School.

A homemaker for most of her life, Mrs. Hutchins was also active in collecting for charitable organizations, such as the Cancer Society and the Heart Association.

She married Carlton Hutchins in 1946.

Lucille is predeceased by a son, Peter, who died in 1971.

She is survived by her husband of Kennebunk; a son Jeffrey Hutchins of Ramona, California; a daughter, Priscilla Laturell of Sunrise, FL; a brother, Robert T. Jack of Kennebunk; and a sister, Priscilla Bowdoin also of Kennebunk; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Lucille "Lucy" Velevis

Lucille Velevis, 88, formerly of Hoboken, N.J. and Kennebunk ME., died Thursday, February 12, 2004 in Stamford CT. She was born on September 2, 1915 in Hoboken, NJ, the daughter of Wilbur and Anna (Vogt) Faist.

She was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Velevis in 1994.

Mrs. Velevis is survived by her son Robert of North Andover, MA., her daughter Joanne Walsh of Stamford, CT., five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2004, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME.

A graveside service will be held at Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk, ME., in the spring.
