Arundel- Lena W. Violette, 83 yrs, a resident of Arundel formerly of Kennebunk died Tuesday April 15th, 2003 at the Renaissance Nursing Home in Biddeford after a brief illness.
Mrs. Violette was born in Caribou, Maine on April 3, 1920 a daughter of Harry and Lillian Clark Hazlett. She attended Caribou Schools.
She was employed by the former Kesslen Shoe Company of Kennebunk as machine operator for twenty-five years.
She was a member of the Kennebunk Baptist Church of Kennebunk.
Lena enjoyed making quilts and camping .
She was predeceased by her husband Leo P Violette Sr. who died in 1992.

She is survived by her son Leo P Violette Jr. of Arundel a sister Margaret Morrill of Plainville, CT and one grandson, 2 great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM Thursday April 17th, 2003 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk where a funeral will be held at 2 PM Friday April 18th with the Reverend James King officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, West Kennebunk.

Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Maine P.O. Box 1134 Portland, Maine 04104 in Mrs. Violette’s memory.

Frank J. Lambert

Frank J. Lambert, devoted husband, father and grandfather, died on April 7, 2005 after a courageous battle with kidney disease and lung cancer.

Frank grew up in Lowell, Mass.

He and his wife, May, were longtime residents of Chelmsford, Mass. Frank and May built a summer cottage on Estes Lake in Alfred, ME in 1972 where the family continues to enjoy special times. In 1990 they retired to Flintlock Village in Wells, ME.

Frank had a successful career as a construction Superintendent and was a 50 year member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters.

He was a proud WWII veteran, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was decorated with two Bronze stars for Meritorious Service and Valor.

Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (May) Pacy Lambert of Wells, daughter Rhonda Lambert Frothingham and granddaughter Emily Lambert Geis of Brunswick, sister Rose Pilato of Lowell, MA, brother James Lambert of Wells and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Wells on Friday, April 15 at 10:00 am followed by a committal service at the Evergreen cemetery in Alfred.

Georgette McKenney

Georgette McKenney, 65 years. died Friday surrounded by her family at her residence on the Wildes District Rd. in Kennebunkport after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Raymond E. McKenney

Mrs. McKenney was born in Biddeford, ME. December 15, 1937 a daughter of Laurent and Rolande Lemieux Gaudette. She attended Biddeford schools and St. Andre’s School in Biddeford. She was employed in Kennebunk as an assembler at the former Keuffel & Esser Company for over twenty years. She also was employed at the former Kesslen Shoe Company in Kennebunk. She enjoyed playing Beano and playing several cards at the same time. She also enjoyed her flower gardens at her home.

She is survived by her husband of forty-seven years. One daughter Linda McKenney Leach and her husband Raymond (Toby) Leach of Kennebunkport. Five brothers George Dubois, Robert Gaudette, Raymond Gaudette, Conrad Gaudette all of Biddeford and Paul Gaudette of Stafford CT. Two Grandchildren Amanda Leach and Nathan Leach. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

At Georgette’s request there will be no memorial services, the family will privately remember. Interment will be in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport, ME. Greta S. Chick

Kennebunkport- Greta S. Chick 98 years a resident of South Maine Street Kennebunkport died Wednesday April 16th, 2003 at the Kennebunk Nursing Center after a brief illness.
She was born on March 13, 1905 a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley . She attended Bangor Schools and graduated from Bangor High School.
Gerta was a teacher in Bangor schools for several years.
In most of her life, she was a homemaker. For several years, she and her late husband owned and operated Chick’s Housekeeping Cabins and the Berry Gardens both of Kennebunkport.
She was a member of Aurora Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Kennebunkport.
She enjoyed cooking, crochet and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband Daniel Chick and her son Carlton Chick.

She is survived by her four grandchildren Paul W. Chick of Kennebunkport, Robert L. Chick of West Kennebunk, Donna E. of Biddeford and Wendy A. Merrill of Lincoln, ME and 10 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandson.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM Thursday April 17, 2003 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7 PM.
Funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday April 18, 2003 at the Chapel with Pastor Dan Moore officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk.

Harold Elmer Shuffleburg

Kennebunk- Harold Elmer Shuffleburg, 67 years, of Old Port Road, Kennebunk died Saturday, August 14, 2004 at his home in Kennebunk.

Harold was born on March 29, 1937 in Biddeford, Maine the son of Harold and Bessie Jackson Shuffleburg. He graduated from Kennebunk High School and married his dear wife Maxine several years later in June of 1956.

Harold worked at a number of different occupations through his lifetime. He worked at General Electric for 15 years and also as a bus driver for SAD 71 for 20 years. In addition he mowed lawns, plowed driveways, built homes, and worked for Dresser Marsh. Harold also started and ran Shuffleburg Transportation Services for 10 years.

Harold was also involved with the Kennebunk Fire Department, Arundel Fire Department, State Federation of Fire Fighting, KEMS, Masons – Arundel Lodge, Shrine, and the Monkey Towners Bowling League.

Harold enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, hunting and fishing.

Harold was predeceased by his son Timothy J. Shuffleburg.

Harold is survived by his wife Maxine, daughters Karen Paro and Beverly Raymond, both of Kennebunk; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6-8 pm Tuesday, August 17 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, Maine, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel on Wednesday, August 18 at 11 am with Pastor Janet Leighninger presiding. Burial will follow at Hope cemetery in Kennebunk on Thursday, August 19 at 11 am.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made in Harold’s name to the Kennebunk Fire Rescue, 1 Summer Street, Kennebunk, Maine 04043.

James D. Moulison, Sr.

Kennebunk, Maine

James D. Moulison, 85 years, formerly of Salem, MA, a resident of Huntington Common Dr, Kennebunk, ME died Thursday at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, ME. after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Vina Pauline (Deschene) Moulison.

Mr. Moulison was born in Salem, Mass June 27, 1917 a son of Enos Charles and Mary Edna (Faulkner) Moulison. He attended Salem and Lynn, MA public schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lynn. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as an Electricians Mate Second Class and served on the USS Bibb.

Mr. Moulison was employed at the General Electric Company in Lynn, MA. Following the war and in 1950 he formed the James D. Moulison Co. Inc Electrical Construction until his retirement in 1982. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Wenham Golf Club, the Salem Country Club and the Pinehurst North Carolina Country Club. He was a life member of the K of C. and the Kiwanis Club of Salem, MA. Del Ray Beach, FL and Southern Pines Club in NC.

A brother Richard C. Moulison and a sister Anna Moulison predeceased him.

Mr. Moulison is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vina Pauline Moulison, two sons Kenneth G. Moulison of Wells, ME and James D. Moulison Jr. of Peabody, MA , two daughters Elaine Greenhalge of Powell, OH and Ann Elwell of Essex, MA, one brother Robert Moulison of Peabody, MA and a sister Elaine Newhall of Peabody, MA. Seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk Monday morning from 9:30am to 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11AM Monday at St. Martha’s Church, Portland Rd. Kennebunk, ME with the Reverend Fr. Laurent Laplante. Interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery Salem, MA.

Jay N. Hayes 43 years a resident of Blueberry Road, Waterboro formerly of Wells died suddenly Sunday August 10th , 2003 at the Southern Maine Medical Center Biddeford.
Mr. Hayes was born in Sanford, Me on October 26, 1959, a son of Richard A. and Marjorie Lebrun Hayes. He graduated from Wells High School.
He was formerly employed by the Nike Shoe of Saco and Sprague-Vishay of Sanford. For last several years, he was employed by the Department of Transportation for the State of Maine.
Jay was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed watching the Nascar races and football games.

He was predeceased by his father, who died in 1991.

He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Hayes of Wells, his wife of 17 yrs, Nancy Roberts Hayes of Waterboro, two daughters Kelly Hayes of Wells and Nicole Hayes of Waterboro, a brother Mark Hayes of Alfred, and a granddaughter Stephanie Travis of Wells.

Visiting hours will be held from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday August 12, 2003 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. The funeral service will be held at the Chapel at 10 AM Wednesday August 13, 2003 with the Reverend Stephen Hastings officiating.

KENNEBUNK, ME – Judith Woodman Funston, 78, of Kennebunk, ME, formerly of Boylston, MA, died on Monday, April 14, 2003 at a Kennebunk area nursing home.

Mrs. Funston was born in Utica, NY, a daughter of Karl Ayer and Doris (Kingsley) Woodman. She graduated from Dean Academy in Pepperill, MA and received a certificate of occupational therapy from Endicott Junior College.

She was a homemaker, and cared for her mentally challenged daughter for 41 years. She volunteered with Special Olympics, enjoyed knitting, and was a caregiver for many people and would always help out others including the residents of Kennebunk Nursing Center. Always with a smile on her face, she loved being around her family.

Mrs. Funston is predeceased by her husband Commander William Howard Funston, III on September 6, 1986.

She is survived by three daughters, Deirdre L. Foster of Kennebunk, ME, Deborah L. Carlson of San Diego, CA and Derrell L. Funston of Biddeford, ME; four grandchildren, Mark Lozoraitis of Falmouth, ME, Matthew Lozoraitis of Worcester, MA, and Justin and Kylan Carlson both of San Diego, CA; great granddaughter Emily Grace Lozoraitis of Falmouth, ME; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Saturday, April 19, 2003. Donations can be made in her memory to the Godin House, 445 A Main Street, Biddeford, ME 04005.

Lida Williamson

Lida Anne Williamson, 78 a resident of Simpson Manor, died Monday, August 04, 2003 at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, NH.

Mrs. Williamson was born in Salem, Mass., on January 4, 1925, a daughter of Augustus H. and Hazelle L. (Chute) Lord. Lida graduated from South High in Worcester, Mass.

Lida enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, crocheting, gardening, and reading. She also enjoyed animals, especially her loyal companion, Sadie Mae.

She is predeceased by a daughter, Candace Stathas and a sister, Merle Emerson.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Guptill of Berwick, a granddaughter, Elisabeth Farrell and her husband Charles from South Berwick, and a niece Linda Sabin of West Virginia.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday August 9, 2003 at 11:00 am. at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick with Reverend Peggy Dunn officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lida’s memory to either the Berwick United Methodist Church, General Fund, 37 School Street, Berwick, Maine 03901, or the Cocheco Valley Humane Society, 262 County Farm Road, Dover, New Hampshire 03820.

Lucinda M. Lord

Lucinda Mary Lord, 92 years, a resident of Woodhaven Dr. Kennebunk, died peacefully at her home Monday, August 4th after a brief illness.

Miss Lord was born November 24, 1910 in Lewiston, Maine, the first child of Florence Dingley Lord and Hartley Little Lord. She was educated in Kennebunk schools before being graduated in 1931 from Wellesley College, Summa cum Laude. She spent the year 1926 in Paris at a finishing school because she was too young to enter college. She later got her Masters degree in Business Administration from Cornell University. Classically educated, she was fluent in French, Italian and German. She was also a Latin scholar. Lucinda was the great niece of former Governor Dingley of Maine. Her father was the grandson of Hartley Lord (1825-1912) who built the Lord Mansion on Summer St. The Lord family also built several other prominent Summer Street houses. Lord’s Point at Kennebunk Beach is named after her great-grandfather who developed the area. Lucinda was sister to Frank Dingley Lord, who died in 1975 and Hartley Lord who died in 1997. Her sister Anne Lord Rogers (Mrs. John Rogers) of Summer St. died last year. She is survived by her sister-in-law Emalene ”Bunny” Lord of Kennebunk and two nieces Mary Lord Cloar of Dyersburg, TN and Lucinda Lord Ardizzone of Windham, NH.

Lucinda first worked for International House in New York City and later Chicago where, at first, she had difficulty being understood because of her Maine accent. She later was Director of Admissions at Russell Sage Junior College in New York State and thereafter at Bradford Junior College in MA. Until her retirement in 1975, she was Chief Medical Librarian at Webber Hospital, Biddeford now Southern Maine Medical Center. More recently, she and the late Betty Joyce were responsible for replanting trees on the Main Street in downtown Kennebunk. She presided over the Seashore Company of Kennebunk started by her great-grandfather and over the years sold hundreds of acres of prime real estate from Biddeford to Wells on behalf of the family.

Lucinda enjoyed lifelong popularity, always a very gracious, courageous lady and had friends from all walks of life. Despite her many advantages, she treated everybody alike. She sold her family home on Summer Street in 1981 but returned many times over the years and celebrated her 90th birthday there. Her gracious ways, sense of humor and love of friends and family endeared her to all. She memorized and recited many humorous poems and limericks (“Albert and the Lion”), loved flowers and gardens and was an authority on Lord family genealogy and the history of Kennebunk.
She was an active member of the First Parish Unitarian Church in Kennebunk, a member of the Brick Store Museum and served as Trustee for several years. A member of the Kennebunk Fire Society.

Funeral service's will be held 11Am Friday August 8th at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, Portland Rd.in Kennebunk with the Reverend Paul L’Herrou officiating. Interment will be the Lord Family Lot in Hope cemetery Kennebunk, Me.
