Jean H. Bosworth, 81, of Acorn Circle, died Wednesday afternoon at Maine Medical Center. She was born in McAlester, OK on April 15, 1924, the daughter of Harry S. and Elizabeth Campbell Smith Hodgins. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Wethersfield, Connecticut, where Jean attended local schools, graduating from Wethersfield High School, Class of 1941. She then continued on to Russell Sage College in Troy, NY, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

On September 27, 1947, she married Donald H. Bosworth in Thompsonville, CT.

Jean was a long-term public health nurse. She worked for VNA in Hartford for many years. In association with her profession, she was a long-term participant in the Framingham Nurse’s Study program.

After vacationing in Maine for many years, Jean and Donald became permanent residents of Maine in 1991, first living in Cape Neddick, and then Cape Porpoise.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Harry Hodgins.

Survivors include:
her loving husband of 58 years, of Cape Porpoise.
2 daughters: Wendy B. Case and her husband Edmund Case
of Newton, MA.
Dr. Donna E. Bosworth and her husband, Dr.
Lawrence Borland of Murrysville, PA.
5 grandchildren: Emily and Adam Case, Kate, Seth and Keely Borland.

There are no visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 300 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to: The Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094; or The American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106 Arrangements under the direction of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME 04043.

Jean H. Meggison

East Boothbay – Jean H. Meggison, age 84 of Little Pond Road, died Monday, October 17, 2005 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born at Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 29, 1921, a daughter of John T. and Ella B. Fisher Hagen.
She attended Boston schools and graduated from Higgins Secretarial School in Boston.
Jean operated the Jean Cliff Day Care in South Portland for several years. She also worked at different shops in Boothbay Harbor, and most recently at “Enchantments”.
She volunteered for many organizations involving children, including the scouts and at area schools. Jean had a zest for life and would try anything new that caught her fancy. She enjoyed performing for many different summer theaters in Boothbay, as well as doing the costume design and sewing. She also enjoyed doing crafts, including stained glass and Christmas ornaments.
Her husband, Clifford Meggison died on December 15, 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Martha Barker and her husband Seth, of East Boothbay; two sons, Dean Meggison and his wife, Jeanne of Kennebunk, and Keith Meggison and his wife Jane of Gorham, ME; a sister, Ruth Hagen of East Boothbay; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A service will be held at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to your local Child Abuse Prevention Council, or to the Child Abuse Action Network, Muskie School, USM, 295 Water Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

John H. Inglis

John Henry Inglis, 77, a resident of Touchstone Drive died Sunday, February 26, 2006 in York after a brief illness.
He was born in Boston, MA on March 18, 1928 a son of John Henry and Louise Kumin Inglis and attended local schools. During World War II, he served his country in the United States Navy. After the war, he was discharged from the Navy. He graduated from Boston University School of Management. He is listed as a member of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in 1951-1952. During college years, he was Student Government President, a member of the student faculty assembly executive committee, and a member of the student senate for four years where he was senate president in his junior year. He was also active in ROTC, Scabbard and Blade, All University Rally Executive Committee, Scarlet Key, Interfraternity Conference, Lock, Booster Club, Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity and Hub Board.

John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves after graduation.

John began his career as a territory sales manager for the Burroughs Corporation of Michigan. After thirty-five years of computer sales and being promoted to the position of Northeast Region Sales Manager for Burroughs, John took early retirement. Six months later, realizing “it was too early”, he went to work for Digital Equipment Corp. of Massachusetts, retiring “this time for good” in 1991.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Robert Inglis.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Elizabeth Stephenson Inglis of Kennebunkport; a son John Stephenson Inglis Sr. of Tampa, FL; three daughters Jan Elizabeth Inglis of Dover, DE., Betsy Inglis Lawrence of New York, NY, and Bonnie Inglis Malone of Kingwood, TX; a brother Charles Inglis of Peabody, MA; and four grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport, Me.

John Wayne Worster

Springvale- John Wayne Worster, 42years, of Allen Street died Saturday, October 1 in his home lovingly surrounded by family members.

John was born in Jacksonville, FL on September 22, 1963 a son of George and Maria Petty Worster.

John installed hardwood floors throughout New England for schools and industrial plants.

John enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He always loved spending time with his family and was especially fond of his two grandchildren, Christopher and John Wayne.

John is survived by his loving companion of over 20 years, Rose Marie Souza; son Jason P. Zagroski; daughters Jennifer Zagroski and Tara Lynn Zagroski; his mom, Maria Petty Worster; brother Timothy Ellison; sisters Mary P. Worster, Pamela F. Le, Georgia Kyllonen, and Grace Ann Grandmaison; and two grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Kendrick W. Holbrook

Kendrick W. Holbrook, 76, of Mills Road, died Tuesday afternoon at Southern Maine Medical Center. He was born in Portland on July 17, 1929, a son of Kendrick and Gertrude (Whitney) Holbrook. He was educated in Biddeford schools, and graduated from Biddeford High School.

On May 21, 1952, he married Gloria Hilton in Portland.

Kendrick worked for a time delivering home heating oil until he was offered the chance to work for the railroad. He hired on with the Boston and Maine Railroad (now Guilford Rail System), and started a career that spanned over 30 years as a locomotive engineer. He operated steam-powered locomotives, and holds the distinction of firing the last steam engine on the Boston and Maine during their transition to diesel power. His wife said railroading was in his blood, and he would often answer the call in the middle of the night to operate, even if it meant driving through a blizzard to get there. He retired in 1989. In his retirement, his worked for Port Lobster Company, Kennebunkport.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, and was active in many organizations in NH and MA. In addition to railroading, he enjoyed motorcycles and dogs.

Kendrick was pre-deceased by a sister, Gloria Leach, in 1999.

Survivors include:
his loving wife of 53 years of Cape Porpoise.

Kingsbury Browne, Jr.

Kennebunkport – Kingsbury Browne, Jr, 82, of Kennebunkport, Maine, died on Veteran’s Day at the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center due to pneumonia and complications from a previous stroke.
He was born in Brookline, Mass. on November 18, 1922, a son of Kingsbury and Sophie Riter Acheson Browne and raised in the Boston area. After attending Milton Academy Preparatory High School, he went on to graduate cum laude from Harvard College in the wartime class of 1944.
During the Second World War, Mr. Browne served in the Army Air Corps with the 313th Bomb Wing on Tinian Island where he commanded the 19th Photographic Laboratory. After the war Mr. Browne studied at Harvard Law School, and received his L.L.B. degree in 1950. While at law school, he met Annette Upson of Newark, Ohio whom he married in June 1949. In the ensuing union of 56 years they raised a family of six children and six grandchildren. Mr. Browne began his formal legal career in Washington D.C., with an emphasis on tax policy that subsequently evolved into nationally recognized expertise on land use and conservation.
He is a former partner with the Boston law firm of Hill & Barlow, was a Fellow of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Law School studying land conservation in America.
He founded the Land Trust Alliance, a non profit organization established by the land trust community in 1982 to coordinate land preservation efforts.
Friends of Mr. Browne knew first hand of his love for the outdoors. His avocations included fishing, gardening and bird watching, and he made numerous excursions by float plane to Alaska and the Canadian Arctic. He had particular interests and was well schooled in the areas of archeology, art, geology, and history. Many charitable organizations benefited from his leadership; he served on the Boards of Directors for the Plymouth Plantation (Massachusetts), Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (Maine), the Children’s Zoo (Franklin Park), and the Windsor School (Boston).
In addition to his wife, Annette, Mr. Browne is survived by three daughters, Annette of Fort Myers, Florida, Juliet T. of Portland, Maine, and Gabriella R. of North Andover, Massachusetts; and three sons, Kingsbury the Third of Golden, Colorado, Mark A. of Mexico City, and Christopher U. of Fairfax, Virginia; his younger brother David of Plympton, Massachusetts, and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00am on Wednesday, November 16, at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Kennebunk. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to your local Land Trust, or through the “Land Trust Alliance” @ www.lta.org.

Laura L. Cloutier

Laura L. Cloutier, born in Berlin, NH on April 11, 1917, died peacefully in the presence of her family at the Tandet Center in Stamford, CT on November 3, 2005.
She was the daughter of Alphonse and Ida (Houle) Bertin.
Laura lived most of her life in Manchester, NH and Wells Beach, ME before moving to Stamford, CT to be close to her family.
She was the wife of the late Leo E. Cloutier, sports editor of the Manchester Union Leader and New Hampshire Sunday News and founder and director for 40 years of the Manchester Baseball Dinner.
Laura had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, especially in the areas of religion, art, literature and philosophy. She spent most of her adult life creating her own art from design to oil paintings and watercolors. The Currier Art Gallery in Manchester, NH and the Louvre in Paris were favorite places, and she enjoyed teaching watercolor painting to senior citizens in Stamford, CT.
Laura was very committed to the Catholic Church, particularly St. Mary’s Church in Wells Beach, ME. She liked to travel throughout the United States, Rome, Italy, and Paris, France and twice took trips to see the Pope.
Laura’s journey of faith, hope and love continues. Her family and friends celebrate her full life and will miss her smile, her words, her laughter and her humor.
Laura is survived by two sons, Jon Craig Cloutier and his wife, Beatrice of Kittery Point, ME and Christopher Cloutier and his wife, Okhee of Brooklyn, NY; a daughter, Gailann Clear and her husband Michael of Westport, CT; a brother, Henry Bertin of Berlin, NH, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Leo Bertin.
A funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Church in Wells Beach, ME on Nov. 5, 2005 officiated by Laura’s nephew, Rev. Gerard Bertin. Arrangements were by Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME.

Lena Hill

Lena M. Hill, 93, a resident of Huntington Common died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Calais, Maine on July 12, 1912 a daughter of Raymond and Ethel Rouse Garnett and attended Calais Schools.

She and her late husband Roland Hill previously ran a cottage rental business in Moody Beach for several years. They also owned Hills News Agency store in the late 1920’s, located on Main Street in Kennebunk where, in addition to selling newspapers, periodicals, guns, and fishing and hunting supplies, they had a popular soda fountain. In 1935 they opened the Arundel Market on Route One, Arundel. They stayed in business until their retirement in 1957.

She was a member of Christ Church in Kennebunk and a life member of the Priscilla Chapter of the Eastern Star of Kennebunk.

Lena enjoyed traveling and playing bridge.

Lena was pre-deceased by her husband Roland Hill who died in 1994, 2 brothers, George and Walter Garnett; and 3 sisters, Marion Lord, Pauline Quilter, and Ethel Littlefield.

She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Daggett-Cote of Kennebunk and a son Edward R. Hogue and his wife Leonora of West Kennebunk and 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-5 PM Sunday, with an Eastern Star service at 4:00 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.
Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday at the Chapel with the Reverend Ellie Mercer officiating. Interment will be in Hope cemetery in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, Maine 04094 in Mrs. Hill’s memory.

The family of Lena M. Hill would like thank to the Staff of Huntington Common for providing care that allowed her to remain at home until her death. They also wish to thank Beacon Hospice for their wonderful care and support over the past two years.

Margaret E. Hurley, 92, died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at her residence.

She was a resident of Bald Hill Road, Wells, and the widow of Fred Hurley who died in 1994.

She was born in New Bedford, MA on November 14, 1912, a daughter of Hugh and Ethel Mack Tobin.

She attended New Bedford and Charlestown MA schools. She has been a resident of Wells for the past 40 years and was employed at the former Morningstar Corporation in Kennebunk for over 5 years.

Margaret was a former member of the Pocahontas Council, Agamenticus Chapter, member and past Matron of Priscilla Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, which is now the Madonna Chapter; member and Past Chief of Ivy Temple Pythian Sisters; member and past president of Past Chiefs Association Pythian Sisters; a member of the State of Maine chapter Pythian sisters; member of the Rebbeccas, Carnation Chapter of Portland, ME; member of the Maine State Grange.

She is survived by one son, Albert F. Wooster of Wells; a stepson, Robert Hurley of Georgia; 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 from 5 to 7 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7 PM, followed by a funeral service with Rev. Herb Henry officiating.

Interment will be on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 9 AM in Ocean View cemetery in Wells.

If desired, memorial donations may be made in her name to:
