Demorese L. Storer, 82 years, a resident of Dade City, Florida formerly of Kennebunk, Maine died Sunday March 19th at her residence after a brief illness.

She was the widow of Frederick W. Storer who died in 1967.

Mrs. Storer was born in Kennebunk, Maine Feb. 3, 1924 a daughter of Warren A and Annie F. Authier Wyman. She graduated from Kennebunk High School class of 1942. During World War 11 she served as Clerk of the Kennebunk Rationing Board. Following the war she was employed at the former Rogers Fiber Company as a bookkeeper. She also was employed as the reservations manager at the former Shawmut Inn in Kennebunkport. She retired from Cole- Harrison Insurance Agency in 1989.

She moved to Florida in 1993.

She was pre-deceased by her husband and a daughter Pamela D. Thompson in 2001.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Ann Boyden and her husband Stephen, formerly of Waterboro and currently resides in Dade City, Florida; a son in law, Richard Thompson of Dade City; one grandchild, Gary Boyden; and 3 great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk, ME from 1 to 3PM on Tuesday, March 28th with a funeral service to follow at 3 PM at the Chapel.

Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk in the spring.

David H. Rolfe

Togus- David H. Rolfe,68 years, formerly of Cape Porpoise, passed away Tuesday, May 17 at the Togus VA Medical Center after a long illness.

David was born January 27, 1937 in Melrose, Mass a son of Harold and Marie Port Rolfe. David graduated from Dover High School in Dover, NH in 1956. He then spent the next three years jumping with the 82nd Airborne in the U. S. Army. After his stint in the service David received his degrees from Bentley College in 1961 for accounting and finance and the School of Consumer Banking, University of Virginia in 1969.

David built his career in banking first with First National Bank of Portsmouth and then on to Ocean National, York County Savings/Coastal Savings, and finally, Key Bank. He was also the Consumer Credit Examiner with the State of Maine Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection in Gardiner, Maine.

David was best known for the community service that he gave to the towns that he knew and loved. David was one of the founders of KEMS (Kennebunkport Emergency Medical Services). David received an award from the Governor for his service to the EMS. In addition to his work establishing the ambulance service for Kennebunkport, David also was the Portsmouth Little League Coach, the Kennebunkport Little League Coach, on the Board of Directors for the Animal Welfare Society, the Recreation Commission, the Kennebunk MSAD # 71 School Board, involved with Kennebunkport Fire Department, Bibber Ambulance, KEMS Ambulance Service, a CPR Instructor, Board of Directors of Southern Maine EMS, York County Chief Association, Bail Commissioner, Instructor at the American Institute of Banking, Rotary, Kennebunk Fire Society, and involved with the Antique Fire Association in Kennebunk.

One organization that David particularly enjoyed and which he was proud to be a card-carrying member, was the Kennebunkport Dump Association to which he was one of the Vice Presidents. David also enjoyed golfing with his friends.

Predeceasing David are his brother George Rolfe and his sister Mary Rizzo.

Surviving David are his wife Barbara Snyder Rolfe of Litchfield, ME; sons Chris Rolfe of Falmouth, Me and William Rolfe of Ayer, MA; daughter Elizabeth Joyal of Barnesveld, NY; sister Ursula Moulton of York, ME; seven grandchildren; and many nieces nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 1-4 pm at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME on Sunday, May 22. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 23 at 11 am at St. Martha’s Church in Kennebunk. A private family burial will follow the service in Arundel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to KEMS, PO Box 460 B, Kennebunkport, ME 04046 or to the Kennebunk Rotary Club, P.O. Box 888, Kennebunk, ME 04043.

Clara J. 'Clare' Charles

Clara J. "Clare" Charles, 73, died peacefully from Alzheimer's disease on Tuesday morning March 21, 2006 at Bradford Court. Several of her children and her grandson Kyle had visited with her just hours before she died.

She was born in Greensburg, PA an April 22, 1932, the daughter of Laverna Ruth Hull and Nicholas A. Cassa, and graduated in 1950 from Connellsville High School.

Clare moved to Maine with her young family in 1963 residing initially in the Windham and Westbrook area. She was a well liked waitress at Valle’s Restaurant on Brighton Avenue for several years before starting an insurance career with John Hancock Life Insurance. She was very proud that her new position allowed her to purchase a home for herself and her children on Main Street in Westbrook.

She met her husband Warren Charles through the insurance agency and moved the family to Kennebunk, making her home in that area over the next 35 years.

She was instrumental in helping her husband establish W.L. Charles Associates in 1970. Clare and Warren were very active in the MAPHCC (Maine Association of Plumbing Heating & Cooling Contractors), serving as Executive Secretary for the Association for many years. In addition, Clare was very active in her church community at Holy Cross Lutheran church where she served on many committees over the years. In addition, she was tireless in participating in various volunteer experiences particularly at Southern Maine Medical Center where she was recognized for providing over 1500 volunteer hours, as well as serving a term as volunteer President.

Hospice, Meals on Wheels, Literacy Volunteers, Habitat for Humanity and FISH were just some of the other volunteer organizations that she supported over the years with her time and energy. Above all, she was a very spiritual person, believing very passionately in her saviour Jesus Christ and the power of prayer. Clare was very generous and kind in spirit and was always willing to help someone in need.

Besides traveling far the MAPHCC and playing golf, she especially enjoyed family events with her children and grandchildren.

She is pre-deceased by her parents Lavema and Nicolas, a brother Nicolas Jr, and in 1985 by her husband Warren Charles.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Roberts Howe and husband Frederic of Falmouth, Maine; son Thomas Roberts, wife Nancy and grandson Kyle, of Kennebunk, Maine, son Todd Charles of Biddeford, Maine and his children Samantha and Nicholas of Wells, Maine; Lawrence Charles, wife Vicki and their children Cecilia and Gabriel of Loveland, Ohio; daughter Major Elizabeth Charles Eidal and her husband Curt of Alexandria, Virginia; stepson Warren "Butch" Charles Jr. of Cape Porpoise, Maine, brother William Cassa of Marietta, Georgia; sister Ruthann Buchanan of Defuniack Springs, Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins around the country.

Friends, family and others who knew Clare are invited to visiting hours at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Route 35, Kennebunk on Monday, March 27, 2006 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lord & Storer Streets, Kennebunk.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Maine, 163 Lancaster Street, Suite 160B, Portland, Maine 04101-2406, in Clare’s memory.

There will be a graveside service at Arundel cemetery in Kennebunkport on Wednesday, July 13th at 11:30 AM.

Bruce Daniel Perry 38 yrs, a resident of Campground Road Arundel died suddenly Friday evening March 24, 2006 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

Bruce was born in Biddeford on February 28,1968 a son of Jerome R. and Patricia E. (Kinney) Perry.

He attended Mildred L. Day School of Arundel and Biddeford High School.

He was employed by the Searles Paving for several years and then for Carl E. Perkins Paving of Arundel during summer seasons.He also worked for Parker Excavating of Arundel during winter season for five years.

Bruce was a member of the Fraternity Order of the Eagles #4030 of Arundel.

He was a stockcar driver in a Truck Series Division at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway of Scarborough for several years.

Bruce was avid outdoorsman in hunting and fishing.

He was predeceased by his father Jerome R. Perry who died in 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Paula Cole Perry and his mother Patricia Perry, both of Arundel; his three children, Glen and Jillian Perry of Arundel and Jordan Perry of Eden, NC; two sisters, Tricia Cole and her husband Kevin of Arundel and Kristie Perry of Alamida, CA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and several great aunts and uncles. He is also survived by the Perry children’s mother, Melissa Andrews of Eden, NC.

Visiting Hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM Monday, March 27, 2006 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk where a funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kennebunk.

Blanche Bridges

Blanche McCrillis Bridges, 89, a resident of Alewive Road, Kennebunk, for 58 years passed away peacefully at her home on May 13, 2005.

She was born in Wakefield, MA, on July 20, 1915, the daughter of Harold Arthur and Lillian Bacon McCrillis. Blanche grew up in Portland but spent her summers between the family farm in the Tatnic area of Wells and the Coast of Maine. She was a member of the Missionary Society and Epworth League at Clark Memorial Church in Portland. She graduated from Deering High School Class of 1933 and from Northeastern Business College. From there, she went on to pursue a career in bookkeeping. At her first job, she met her beloved Wesley. They married in 1938 and instead of balancing books, she balanced babies on her lap, the “career” she was truly cut out for. The family moved to Kennebunk in 1944 and together built a home and farm, a labor of love for many years to come.

Besides being an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Blanche found much enjoyment in the outdoors, in farming, gardening, family camping adventures, fishing, skiing, swimming, canoeing, tennis, sailing, photography, cross-country RVing and ocean cruises as well as spending much time in the Oquossoc camp she and Wesley built and son Arthur’s Carrabassett Valley home.

Blanche was a Cub Scout Den Mother, member of the Penquin Ski Club, the Kennebunk Band Boosters, Olive Rebekah Lodge, Alewive Grange, Alewive Extension, New England Family Camper Assn, and the York County Camera Club. A member of the West Kennebunk United Methodist Church since 1952, she was active in the Harvey Bible Class and WSCS, as well as being a Sunday School teacher.

Blanche retired from Kennebunk Savings and Loan in 1978 after 13 years of employment. From 1983 to 1996, she shared her endless supply of love as “Nana” at the Child Development Center in Kennebunk.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Wesley Smith Bridges in 2003, an infant son Wesley Harold in 1939, and a great-grandson Nicholas Garrity in 2004.

She is survived by four children, Beverly Staples of Kennebunk, Arthur Bridges of Morrill, Calvin Bridges of Gray, and Dianne Garrity of Kennebunk; six Grandchildren, Brett Staples of Wells, Alison Staples of Hollis, Bridget Garrity of Durham, Shawn Garrity of Phippsburg, Andrew Bridges of Norfolk VA, and Adam Bridges of Gray; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the West Kennebunk United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 21st at 1:30 PM, Pastor Lynne Campbell officiating. The will be a gathering of family and friends in the church vestry following the service.

Bernard L. Blatt

Bernard L. Blatt, 62, of Kennebunk, died Tuesday, May 24th at his home.

He was born a son of Isadore and Rose (Green) Blatt in Springfield, MA on May 4, 1943.

He attended Springfield schools, graduating from Classical High School. He graduated from Ryder University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

As a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Blatt was a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, and was also a member of the York Rotary Club.

Bernard was a devoted father and husband. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Leona; his son, Jeffrey Blatt of Parsippany, NJ; his daughter, Laura Blatt of Quincy, MA; his sister, Suzanne Yarmitzky of Plantation, FL; and other loving family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held from 10:00 AM until 12 noon on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, in Kennebunk where a prayer service will follow at 12 noon.

Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery in Kennebunk.

Barbara B. Gesell

Barbara Buckley Gesell, age 63 of Cape Porpoise, Maine entered eternal rest Friday, July 22, 2005 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a valiant struggle with cancer.

She was born on December 30, 1941 in the Bronx, NY to Carmille Patrick Buckley and Anna Rita Leahy. She graduated from Sacred Heart School and St. Catherine Academy in New York City.

She was retired from IBM after 30 years of service as a manager of a Quality Control Group and co-founder and owner of “Wee Gifties” of Cape Porpoise, Maine in the town of Kennebunkport.

Barbara was a world class “quilter and cross stitcher”. She was a member of “Ladies on the Edge”, “Evergreen Quilters”, and “Keywood Stitchers” of Alfred, Maine. She also taught classes on appliqué at Knights Quilt Shop on occasion.

She will be remembered for the way she would light up a room with her smile and her humor. Also for her artistic and decorating skills and her talent for writing letters and notes. But most importantly for her unyielding devotion to God and her faith in Jesus Christ.

Proverbs Chapter 31 Vs 10-13 “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband does trust her safely so that she have no need. She will do him good and not harm all the days of her life. She seeked wool and flax and works diligently with her hands”.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles J. Gesell of Cape Porpoise. She is also survived by her three children, John D. Natoli, Vincent A. Natoli and Francine Natoli; and a grandson, Michael Natoli, all of Dutchess County, New York; her stepchildren, Matthew C. Gesell of Overland Park, KS, John A Gesell of Concord, NC, Laura A. Kelly of Poughkeepsie, NY, Michael Gesell of Matthews, NC, and Brian Scott Sunday of Mechanicsburg, PA; and grandchildren, Christopher Knight, Susan Sunday, Lauren Sunday, Patrick Kelly, Kasey Kelly, Nicole Kelly and great grandson, Brenden Michael Knight. She is also survived by her two sisters, Eileen Buckley Seese of New Orleans, La, and Rita Buckley Merrill of Fripp Island, SC.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. Monday July 25, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, Maine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. Tuesday at St. Martha’s Roman Catholic Church, Rt#1 North, Kennebunk, ME.

Burial will follow at Ocean View cemetery in Wells.
