Father Gaston Eugene Auger
July 02, 2005
West Kennebunk

Father Gaston Eugene Auger, 98, of Alfred Road, died Saturday morning at Southern Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Roxton Falls, Providence Quebec, Canada on July 11, 1906, one of eleven children to Emery and Melina Messier Auger.

His primary education was at St. Andre School in Biddeford. In 1920, he moved to Canada and completed his undergraduate schooling at Montreal College. He continued his studies, with a degree in Philosophy in 1928, and a degree in Theology in 1932.

On May 21st of that same year, he was ordained a priest in the Cathedral Montreal by the Most Reverend George Gauthier. Following his ordination, he returned to Maine for the first of many assignments during his career: Curate at Skowhegan. In 1945, he was assigned as Curate, St. Rose of Lima Parish, Chisholm; in 1946, he was assigned as Pastor, Stockholm, Maine; in 1952, he became Pastor of St. Peter’s in Bingham; in 1962, he became Pastor of St. Ann’s Parish in Dexter. His final assignment was as Pastor, Notre Dame Parish, Skowhegan.

In addition to his many assignments, he also had numerous appointments, including Extraordinary Confessor, Sisters of Presentation, Caribou: 1951; Extraordinary Confessor, Convent of St. Joseph, Jackman: 1952; Director, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine for deanery of St. Hilary: 1952; Chaplain, Ascension Circle, Daughters of Isabella, Dexter: 1962; Faithful Friar, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Dexter: 1962; Vicar Forane – St. Hilary’s Deanery (Piscataquis & Somerset counties): 1966; Chaplain, Daughters of Isabella, Notre Dame de Lourdes Circle, Skowhegan: 1966; and Vicar Forane, Somerset Deanery: 1973.

Although Father Auger retired in September 1974, he continued to serve the Lord as a much beloved and dedicated priest at St. Martha’s Parish in Kennebunk.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by 7 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include: Several nieces and nephews and his loyal housekeeper and cook of 35 years, Ethel Bess, of West Kennebunk.

Reception of the body and Office of the Dead will take place on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martha’s Catholic Church, Route 1, Kennebunk, followed by public viewing from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 6, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martha’s Church with the Most Reverend Richard Joseph Malone, Th.D., Bishop Of Portland as principal celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Street, Biddeford.

Florence I. Ricker

Florence I. Ricker 93 yrs a resident of Rochester, formerly of Somersworth died Friday July 15th 2005 at SunBridge Rehabilitation and Health Care of Rochester.

She was born in Somersworth, NH on Sept 6,1911 a daughter of Altie and Emily Isherwood Ricker. She graduated from Somersworth High School.

She was a long time worker at the Queensbury Mills of Somersworth as a twister for many years and she was a longtime caregiver in the Somersworth area for many years.

Florence was a 68 year member of the First Parish United Church of Christ of Somersworth where she was active in Sunday school.

She enjoyed playing piano every morning.

She was predeceased by her parents, and brother Charles Ricker.

She is survived by her 2 nieces and a nephew and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 2 PM Monday at the First Parish United Church of Christ, 176 W. High Street, Somersworth, NH where a funeral will follow at 2 PM at the church with the Reverend Mark Rideout officiating. Interment will be in Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.

Should friends desire memorial donations may be made to the First Parish Untied Church of Christ, 176 West High Street, Somersworth, NH 03878 in Mrs. Ricker’s memory.

Frances V. Karron

Kennebunkport

Frances V. Karron, age 87 of Kennebunkport, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 in Saco as a result of an automobile accident.

She had resided in Westport, CT for 40 years, and had retired to Maine in the last 15 years.

She was born on January 13, 1918, the daughter of John and Mary Patala Maly, and in her 20’s, she worked in New York City at Western Electric Company.

She married Jack Karron and moved to Westport, CT. The Karron family owned Karron’s Jewelry for over 35 years.

Fran was employed by Famous Schools and Stauffer Chemical Company in Westport before her retirement.

She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kennebunk, Maine and an active member of the Needlework Group at Holy Cross which she enjoyed immensely.

She is predeceased by her daughter, Susan M. Davis who died in 1993.

Surviving are her son, Larry Karron and his wife, Susan of Kennebunk, Maine.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Kennebunk.

A private burial will be at Evergreen cemetery in Kennebunk.

George C. Scribner

George C. Scribner, 81, of Kennebunk, Maine and Green Valley, Arizona, passed away on July 10, 2005 at University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona.

George was born in Dover, New Hampshire on November 19, 1923, the first son of Samuel Harold Scribner and Dorothy Harriet Sweat.

He attended Dover High School and the University of New Hampshire in Durham, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York. He also studied meteorology at New York University and taught that subject at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois.

During World War II, he served as a meteorologist and flight engineer in the China-Burma-India theatre, “flying the hump” over the Himalayas to support troops fighting in central China. These experiences fed his love of travel and his study of world religions. After twenty-two years in the U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force Reserve, he retired with the rank of Major in 1966.

Both engineer and entrepreneur, he founded George C. Scribner Associates in Hamilton, MA, which contributed to the design and construction of many large-scale industrial projects. George was a member of the American Meteorological Society and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He was a member of Theta Chi, the Arundel (Maine) Beach Club, the Arundel Yacht Club, and he was a founding Commodore of the Green Valley (Arizona) Yacht Club. During the past three decades, George traveled the world. In 1978, he returned to South Asia and Bhutan as a representative of the Smithsonian Institution.

He is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Annette Hamilton Chase; four children: Scott R. Scribner of Long Beach, California, Sandra J. Mack of San Diego, California, Stephen H. Scribner of Dover, New Hampshire, and Schuyler D. Scribner of Nottingham, New Hampshire; and four grandchildren: John Mack, Rebekah Mack, Johanna Mack, and Shannon Scribner.

There are no visiting hours.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, at 10:00 a.m. at the South Congregational Church, 14 Temple Street, Kennebunkport.

Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.

George E. Burdick, Jr.
March 16, 2006

Kennebunk – George E. Burdick Jr., age 84 of Ridgewood Circle, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born in Camp Grant, Rockford, IL on March 30, 1921 the son of George Enos and Mary Ethyl Saunders Burdick. From 1935 to 1939; he attended the Bolles School in Jacksonville, FL. In 1940 he graduated from the Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ. He attended both MIT and Boston University. At MIT he was president of the MIT Rocket Research Society; he graduated from BU in 1948 with a BS degree.

He served his country faithfully in the US Army as a Technical Sergeant during WWII in the Pacific theater.

From 1949 until 2003, he was employed at Baldwin Lima Hamilton and the Hudson Combing Company, taught Electrical Engineering at Northeastern University, and was self-employed as a Professional Engineer. In 1969 he founded Hudson Institute, a four-year liberal arts college in Hudson, MA.

George was a longtime member and former curator and trustee of the Seashore Trolley Museum, and belonged to numerous other rail and steamship organizations. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Hudson, MA and St. David’s here in Kennebunk.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lindsey; his son, George; his daughters, Carrie and Margaret; and his grandson, Timothy; and step-grandchildren, Jessica, Jasmine, and Joshua.

Visiting hours will be from 9 to 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 22 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM the same day at St. David’s Church, Kennebunk. Interment will be at the Alfred Rural cemetery in Alfred, NY.
If desired, donations can be made to the Seashore Trolley Museum, PO Box A, Kennebunkport, ME 04046 in lieu of flowers.

George Ricker

Rochester, NH

George Ricker 80 yrs, of York Court, Rochester, NH died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at his home after a long illness.

George was born in Somersworth, NH on July 17, 1925 a son of George E. and Grace (Arlin) Ricker.

He attended Somersworth Schools.

George honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was stationed aboard USS Astoria (CL-90), where he earned the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 4 stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal, the American Area Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

After his military years, he was a shoe cutter for Somersworth Shoe for 44 years then Encore Shoe Co for 6 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #69 and the VFW post # 4485, and a member of the First Parish Church, all of Somersworth, NH.

George was a well-known handyman around the home and he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is predeceased by his parents, his three brothers Raymond, Winslow and Robert Ricker.

He is survived by his wife of 55yrs Constance (Boucher) “Connie” Ricker of Rochester; two sons, Ronald Ricker and his wife Kathy of Milton, NH and Steven Ricker and his wife Sue of Somersworth; a brother, Melvin Ricker of Somersworth; three sisters, Irene Patterson of Rochester, NH, Ida Patterson of Somersworth and Lillian Emerson of Rochester; six grandchildren, Lori, Jason, Jessica, Adam, Heather and Brianna; and 6 great grandchildren, Kaitlynne, Taylor, Elizabeth, Cody, Ian and Natasha.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, March 28th at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street in Berwick, ME.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at the First Parish Church, High Street, Somersworth, NH with the Reverend Mark Rideout officiating.

Interment with Military Honors will be in Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth, NH.

In lieu of flowers please make all donations to Seacoast Hospice 10 Hampton Road Exeter, NH 03833 in Mr. Ricker’s memory.

Gerard Edward Ouellette 80 yrs, a resident of Upper Middle Road Lebanon, ME died Sunday July 17, 2005 at the Haven Health Center of Seacoast in Hampton, NH.

He was born in Amesbury, MA on November 22, 1924 a son of Omer and Blanch Trembly Ouellette and attended Haverhill schools.

Gerard served in the US Army in WWII.

He was employed by the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority as Truck Driver for over 20 years.

Gerard enjoyed fishing.

He was predeceased by his wife Alice Panneton Ouellette.

He is survived by a son Louie Ouellette and his wife Renee of Haverhill, MA, two daughters Donna Bodwell and her husband Leslie of Lebanon, ME and Valda Gates and her husband Paul of Rye, NH - 8 grandchildren- Tammy, William, Vanessa, Paul Jr., David, John, Christina, Louann, 7 great grandchildren Jason Jr., Jeremy. Joshua, Tiffany, Kayla, Erich and Noah and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 PM Wednesday July 20th 2005 at the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main Street, South Berwick, ME. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM .
