Donald E. Kellett

Kennebunkport

Donald E. Kellett, a resident of 37 years passed peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 1st. 2005 at the age of 69.

Donald was born in Ely, Nevada on August 25, 1936 a son of Reverend Ernest W. "Bumpa" and Mary B."Nana" Kellett. While serving as missionaries, on the Shoshone and Arapaho Indian reservation located in the Badlands of South Dakota.

Donald attended Howe Military School in Indiana and graduated High School in Maine from Kent's Hill Class of 1954. Returning to South Dakota, Donald attended Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell. He rounded out his academic career in at Nasson College in Springvale Maine.

In 1959 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. acquiring the rank of Sergeant he served until 1968. Serving in Vietnam as a photojournalist for the Navy times, he received the Air Medal for combat flight time. Most notably for his coverage of MEDEVAC teams which appeared in Life magazine. He is a member of the American Legion Post 159 and VFW Post 140.

After Vietnam Donald returned to provide for his family and started a career in Carpentry, his fondness of New England craftsmanship turned into a lifetime passion for fine woodworking. He devoted his life in constant pursuit of knowledge and developing the techniques he deemed necessary to qualify himself as skilled craftsman. This passion might have only been overshadowed by his love of music & conversation, they were inseparable for him.

He co-owned the Lobster Pot Restaurant in Cape Porpoise, Maine. He was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church. He enjoyed sports and was a longtime fan and follower of high school and collegiate sports. He was an avid tennis player and in his later years developed a fondness for womens collegiate basketball and became a member of UNE's “Body Wise” where he exercised everyday and continued to expand his interests and build new relationships.

He was predeceased by his parents, The Rev. Ernest W. Kellett and Mary B. Kellett, and granddaughter Molly Stevens Pepin.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Jacqueline Ann, (Jackie) Kellett, his 6 children; Mark William Kellett, Leslie Ann Pepin, Matthew Scott Kellett, Melissa Beth Mitchell, Andrew Donald Kellett and Alicia Nan Kellett and 10 grandchildren, Shiloh Jade Pepin, Amanda, Jillian, Gabriel Kellett, Jacob, Emily and Samantha Mitchell, Zachary Kellett, Elizabeth and Patrick Kellett and Elizabeth And Katherine Center.

Donald touched everyone he came in contact with. Memories of his engaging and often philosophical conversations will help sustain us all. God Bless.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Monday, December 5, 2005 at Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk, ME.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Route One, South of Kennebunk.

Donald E. Moore

Donald E. Moore, 77, a resident of Flintlock Village, Wells formerly of Ogunquit died Tuesday April 4, 2006 in York Hospital after a brief illness.
Donald was born in York, ME on August 9, 1928 a son of Leon. H and Ida Mae (Bourne) Moore and attended the Ogunquit Village School for eight years as did his mother before him. He graduated from Wells High School in 1947 and enjoyed seeing his former classmates at all the reunions over the years.
He served in the United States Navy in the Submarine service in the North Atlantic from 1947 thru 1957.
Donald was employed as a seasonal postal clerk at the Ogunquit Post office. He also worked for Adams TV in the late 1950’s and 1960’s, and installed many antennas and TV’s.
In 1969, Donald went to work for Central Maine Power Company in the York office. He retired in 1990. During his retirement, he operated Moore’s Appliance Repair for many years.
He was a lifetime member of the Ogunquit Fire Department and life member of the York County Firefighter Association and served as trustee for many years.
He served on the board of Overseers in Ogunquit in the late 50’s and for over thirty years as a trustee of the Ogunquit Sewer District. He was an active member of the Ogunquit Baptist Church.
Donald was a member of the Ocean Lodge #142 of Wells, Portland Valley Scottish Rite, member and Past President of the Scottish Rite Pioneer Club of Sanford, Kora Shriners AAONMS of Lewiston and served as Potentate’s Aide under late Past Potentate Jack Lustig, Kora Renegades Unit, member and Past President of the York County Shrine Club, also member York County Shrine Club Blue Lodge Degree Team, Put Stevens Royal Court of Jesters, Portsmouth Shrine Club and the Western Mountain Shrine Club of Rangeley.
He enjoyed the Shrine activities, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Barbara A. (Petelle) Moore of Wells, two sons, David J. and his wife Jennifer of Wells and Eric D. and his wife Cindy of Portland; three daughters, Donna and her husband Larry Smith of Gonic, NH, Phyllis L. Moore of Portland and Nancy A and her husband Jay Moore of Wells. Also surviving is one brother, Richard J. Moore of Westbrook and one brother-in-law David and his wife Carol Petelle of Moody. Eight grandchildren - Jayson and Shawn Haskell, Emily, Madison, Zachary and Jordan Moore, David and Jessica James and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 111 Chapel Road Wells with a Masonic Service at 7 PM.
Funeral will be held at 11AM Friday at the Ogunquit Baptist Church, Shore Road Ogunquit with the Reverend David Clark officiating. Private Interment will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells.

Dr. Harold S. Wright

Cape Porpoise

Dr. Harold Samuel Wright, 91, died Sunday, April 23, at the home of his son in Cape Porpoise Maine. born in raised in Norwood, New York he was the son of Edward Earl and Genevieve Kinsman Wright. He resided with his beloved wife of 66 years, Ruth Barclay Wright in Cape Porpoise.

Dr. Wright graduated from Cornell University and Cornell Medical College. During World War II he served as a Psychiatrist with the 38th evacuation hospital, Mediterranean Theater.

In 1947 he settled in Greenwich Connecticut where he raised his family, pursued his private practice and developed the new Department of Psychiatry at Greenwich Hospital. He was active in his church and in many civic and professional organizations, teaching at Cornell Medical College, becoming president of the Connecticut Psychiatric Society and serving on the board of the State Department of Mental Health. Dr. Wright contributed significantly to developing mental health services in both New York City and the State of Connecticut.

Baritone, Dr. Wright enjoyed music with his family, church and community. He was a lifelong boating and was an avid and frustrated golfer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Doris Kabureck and her husband George of Palmetto, Florida; a son Charlie Wright and his wife Patricia of Cape Porpoise; a son, Edward Wright and his wife Barbara of Rowayton, Connecticut; a granddaughter Bree Clark and her husband, Scott and two great grandchildren Brett and Danielle of Cape Porpoise; a grandson, Ben Wright of Santa Fe, New Mexico; a grandson, Josh Wright of Denver Colorado and his sister Genevieve Barbara James and her husband Harry of Palm Beach, Florida.

There will be a celebration of his life, this Saturday, April 29th at the Church on the Cape, in Cape Porpoise. For a time please contact the Church on the Cape.

Edwin M. Littlefield

Edwin Maxwell Littlefield, 88 years, of South Street Ogunquit died Wednesday in his home after a long illness lovingly surrounded by his family.

Edwin was born in Ogunquit on September 24, 1917 the son of C. Herbert and Clara Maxwell Littlefield.

He graduated from Wells High School in 1935 and attended the McIntosh Business College in Dover, NH. In 1940 he married Eleanor Elizabeth Galeucia.

Edwin served in the Navy during WWII. After the War, Edwin worked Pratt and Whitney in CT for 3 years and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a machinist for over 30 years.

Edwin was born with an entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and ran the Footbridge Takeout in Ogunquit, the Dreamer’s Delight Restaurant, and an eight bedroom guesthouse – Ye Olde Maxwell Place. The guesthouse had been in Edwin’s Mom’s family since the late 1600’s and pretty much in it’s present form since 1720.

As busy as Edwin was, he always greeted the day with a smile. In his words, “Every day is a holiday”, to him the sky was always blue. He was well known around the town that he loved for his good nature and his charitable ways. He loved the tourists that came to town and always tried to make them feel at home. When the beach parking would fill up, Edwin would put out a sign and advertise free parking. Often times the tourists would ask what they owed for the privilege of parking for a day at the beach and Edwin would refer them to his sign. He also allowed many of the local workers to park there. He would often park over a hundred cars in his field.

Edwin was a member of Ocean Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Wells. He was a long time member of the Ogunquit Methodist Church.

Edwin enjoyed his family, coffee with his buddies at Dunkin Donuts and MacDonald’s, traveling, a good cribbage game, running the guesthouse, and singing. Edwin would break out in song whenever the mood hit him. After building his new house, Edwin also took special pride in his lawn.

His wife Eleanor in 1989; two sisters Persis Keene and Ethel “Peg” Smalley predeceased Edwin; and sister-in-law and special companion Priscilla Galeucia.

Surviving Edwin are his daughters Ellen Preble and her husband David of South Gardiner and Elissa Boulier and her husband Gerald of Wells; four grandchildren Alex and his wife Kristin, Jason, Jeremy, and Michael and his wife Michelle; great granddaughter Kaylie; 2 sisters-in-law Carole Coker and husband Richard and Barbara Pavlovich and her husband Paul; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will held on Friday, December 23 from 4-6 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME. A Masonic service will be held at 5:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6 PM at the Chapel with Pastor Sharon Miesel.

Interment will follow in the spring in Ocean View cemetery in Wells.

Eleanore Jemison

Cape Porpoise

Eleanore Jemison (Roberts), 84, of Kennebunk, ME, died April 13, 2006, at the home of her daughter & son-in-law, Mary & Sherman Spurr of Cape Porpoise, ME.

Eleanore was born in Salem, MA on September 11, 1921. She was the daughter of Menza & Harriett (Sheehan) Roberts.

She was a devoted Mother and Wife who helped build the medical practice of former husband Howard A. Jemison, Jr., MD.

She was an invaluable asset for many years as office manager for her daughter and son-in-laws' business in MA. She was an avid reader & crossword enthusiast and loved antiques. She also, for many years, worked for various antique dealers in Essex, MA and for a period of time had her own shop called the Jemison Forge. She loved the ocean and taught her children and grandchildren how to find those special beach treasures.

She is survived by her son, Howard A. Jemison III, & wife Susie of AZ; son/nephew, John T. Roberts & wife Jerry of MA; grandchildren: Kaci Jackson & husband Carlos of CT; Conan Jemison (deceased); Erica Baltazar & husband Joseph of CA; Eli Jemison of OR; Elizabeth Jemison-Ahamed & husband Basheer of FL; Branden Jemison of AZ; Angela Butler & husband Shane of AZ; Shawna McInelly & husband Kaylon of AZ; Curtis Mitchell of AZ; Stephen Mitchell of AZ; Derek Spurr & wife Laura of MA; and Heather Spurr Kirwin and husband Tom of MA.

She was a great grandmother of 5 and because she predeceased her 4 siblings, she became the Matriarch of her family and was adored by her nieces & nephews and many great-nieces & nephews.

She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

A private Memorial will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth Brooks

Elizabeth M. (Connell) Brooks 86 years a resident of Saco formerly of Kennebunkport died Monday April 10th 2006 in Saco after along illness.
She was born in Hudson , NH on September 20, 1919 a daughter of Orrin H. and Clara B (Hare) Connell .
She was a long time homemaker and spent most of her married life in CT and more recently in Lyman and Kennebunkport. The Brooks had no children .
She was predeceased by her husband James R. Brooks and her two brothers Orrin H and Ralph Connell.
She is survived by her step sister Florence Travis of North Carolina, a step brother Arthur Leach and his wife Shirley of Turbot’s Creek, Kennebunkport and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Esther P. Levasseur
December 29, 2005
Rochester, NH

Esther P. Levasseur 89 years, a resident of Rochester, NH, formerly of Sanford and Wells, ME died Thursday, December 29, 2005 at the Rochester Manor after a brief illness.

She was born in Sanford, ME on November 3, 1916 a daughter of Frank and Margaret (Connely) Porell and attended at St. Joseph’s Convent of South Berwick and graduated from Sanford High School the class of 1934.

She worked as a mender at the Goodall Mills of Sanford for over twenty-five years.

She married to Yvair B. Levasseur on October 28, 1944.

Ester worked with her husband as upholsterer and teaching night class in upholstery at the Sanford Adult education.

Esther was a life long communicant of St. Ignatius Parish in Sanford until moving to Wells in 1975. Since then and until her illness in 2003 she was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and active in the Sodality, Rosary and Widow’s Group.

At the Rochester Manor, she was a member of the Red Hat Society and Residents group.

She enjoyed walking 10 miles per day, swimming and jazzercise.

She was predeceased by her husband Yvair B. Levasseur who died in 1991 and her brother Lester Porell.

She is surviving by her son, Thomas F. Levasseur and his wife Jeanine F.; two grandsons, Ryan T., and Brenton M. Levasseur all of Somersworth, NH; and a cousin, Sheila Palmer of Sanford, ME.

Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 31st at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 236 Eldredge Road in Wells, ME.

Interment will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells in the spring.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations to made in her honor to the Rochester Manor Resident’s Group, 40 Whitehall Road, Rochester, NH 03867 (1-603-332-7711)
