Calvin E. Hyde Sr.

Calvin E. Hyde Sr. 81 years a resident of Alfred formerly of Kennebunk died Friday December 22, 2006 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a long battle with cancer.
Calvin was born and raised in Everett, MA on June 9, 1925. Calvin attended Everett Schools.

Calvin had a summer home in Limerick and migrated to Maine permanently in 1974. He had been a painter his entire life until he decide to open a paint and appliance store in Kennebunk.

He was a mason for over 50 years and a member of York Lodge #22 of West Kennebunk, Scottish Rite Valley of Portland and the Kora Shrine of Lewiston where he took part in the shrine division of clowns which named him called the “TINY” because of his large stature. Calvin was a member of the Messiah Christian Church of Wells.

He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends .
He was predeceased by his first wife Antia R.(Earle) Hyde who died in 2000 and his son Robert Hyde who died in 2001.

Calvin is survived by his second wife Linda (Jowett) Hyde of Alfred , four sons William DeYoung and his wife Phyllis of Cobourg Ontario, CA, Dennis Hyde of Kissimmee, FLA, Calvin E. Hyde Jr., and his wife Amber of Kingsland,GA and Steven Hyde and his wife Donna of Kennebunk , two sisters Margaret Quinlan of Somerville, MA and Louise Fallabella of Westbrook, Maine , a daughter in law Mrs. Robert (Cathy) Hyde of Everett, MA and two step children David and his wife Carrie Jowett and Wendy and her husband John Lavigne and 12 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.

Memorial visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday December 27th, 2006 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk where a Masonic Services will be held at 7 PM.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday December 28th at the Messiah Christian Church Route One, Wells, ME., with the Reverend Daniel Moore officiating.
Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.
Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the Shrines Hospital for Children 516 Carew Street Springfield, MA 01104-2396 in Mr. Hyde’s memory.

Carl E. Brown Sr.

Wells, ME

Carl E. Brown Sr. 85 years a resident of Wells Highlands, Wells died Sunday June 4, 2006 at the Kennebunk Nursing Home after a brief illness.

Carl was born in Wells, ME on September 23, 1920 a son of Charles E. and Mabel Louise Gott Brown and attended Wells Schools.

He served with the United States Army in WWII.

He was employed by the State of Maine and Portsmouth Naval Yard as Truck Driver for several years then he was a heavy equipment mechanic for Pease Air Force Base for over 23 yrs. During his retirement, he opened and operated a lawnmower business for ten years in Wells. He was a member of the Ocean Lodge Masonic of Wells.

He enjoyed to dance and square dancing with his late wife Irene.

He was predeceased by his wife Irene L. (Sevigney) Brown who died in 2003, his three brothers Harry E., John P. and Charles A. Brown and a sister Eleanor Ester Wildes.

He is survived by his son Carl E. Brown Jr. and his wife Crystal of Wells, a granddaughter Debra Brown and her husband Wayne of Wells, a great-grandson Jeffery Brown of Wells and three sisters Mary L. Coggeshall, Doris W. Clogston and Lillian G. Chase all of Wells and several nieces and nephews.

Private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Should friends desire memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society; One Main Street, Suite 300; Topsham, Maine 04086 in Mr. Brown’s memory.

Caroline R. Dooley

Wells- Caroline R. Dooley, of Webhannet Drive, Wells, formerly of Waltham, MA died Thursday, November 9, 2006 at York Hospital.

Caroline was born October 12, 1922 in Newton, MA, a daughter of Pietro and Antonia Bianco Cotoia. She graduated from Newton High School, Class of 1940. She proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

On September 15, 1957, Caroline married Thomas H. Dooley. They were working on 50 wonderful years together, raising their children, forming friendships, and traveling to Florida. They were active in their church. Caroline especially enjoyed the holidays when everyone could be present.

Caroline is predeceased by her sister Ann Briggs.

Surviving Caroline are her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Thomas H. Dooley; sons Thomas “Ted” Dooley and Steven of Hoboken, NJ and James Peter Dooley and wife Cheryl of Waltham, MA; daughter Karen Ann Burke and husband Richard of Littleton, MA; brother Joseph Cotoia; sisters Jennie Dellicichi, Mary Ruffo, and Frances LaBrache; and grandchildren Kristen, James, Richard, and Amanda.

Friends may call on Sunday, November 12 from 1-4 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, November 13 at St. Mary’s Church in Wells, ME with Father Tom Murphy. Interment will follow in Ocean View cemetery in Wells.

Catherine B. Rinaldi

Delray Beach, FL and Kennebunkport, ME

Catherine Bresnahan Rinaldi 88 years, a resident of Delray Beach, FL and Kennebunkport, ME died Monday July 24, 2006 at the Bradford Common, Kennebunk after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Waterbury, CT on March 24, 1918 a daughter of John and Catherine (Brown) Bresnahan. She graduated from Catholic High School in Waterbury, CT class of 1936.

She was a secretary for the Kay Jewelers from 1940 to 1956 then she and her husband Fred founded and operated Mark Eyelet Inc of Wolcott, CT which they ran together until 1985 when they sold the company to AMP Inc of Harrisburg, PA. She moved to Kennebunkport in 1986 and helped operate the Kennebunkport Maritime Museum and Antique Shop until 1999.

Catherine spent her winters in Delray Beach where she was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. She also was member of St. Martha ‘s Catholic Church of Kennebunk, ME.

She was predeceased by her husband Fred Rinaldi who died in 1989 and her brothers John, Thomas, James and Francis Bresnahan and two sisters Margaret Bresnahan Powell and Mary Bresnahan.

She is survived by her son John Rinaldi of Delray Beach, FL and Kennebunkport, ME and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Thursday July 27, 2006 at the St Martha’s Catholic Church Portland Road Kennebunk. Private Interment will be at Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk, ME.

In lieu of flowers should friends desire memorial donations may be to the Alzheimer’s Association 163 Lancaster Street Suite 160B Portland Maine 04202-2406 in Mrs. Rinaldi’s memory.

Charles 'Chuck' Gannon Riley

Charles “Chuck” Riley 48 years old a resident of Ridgeview Drive, Biddeford formerly of Kennebunk died Tuesday May 30, 2006 at his home after a brief illness.

Son of late Joseph and Lorraine Gannon Riley, he was born in Portland Maine on February 1, 1958. Chuck graduated from Kennebunk High School and St. Francis College of Biddeford.

Chuck worked for the Department of Human Service as a caseworker for over 21 year, where he was awarded Case Worker of the Month in January and February 2006.

He also volunteered with Maine Handicapped Skiing at Sunday River for over 14 years.

He was a former member at the Biddeford and Saco Country Club and member of the Most Holy Trinity Church of Saco.

Chuck enjoyed golf, basketball, boating and woodworking. He especially liked spending time with his son at their camp on Kennebunk Pond in Lyman.

He is survived by his wife Anne Marie Stewardson Riley and his son Alan L. Riley both of Biddeford, a brother Sean Riley of Yarmouth, ME and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held from 4 to 8 PM Friday June 2, 2006 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 9 AM Saturday at the St. Martha’s Church, Portland Road, Kennebunk followed by an Interment in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.

A Fellowship gathering will be held at the American Legion Hall Rt 9 Kennebunkport following the committal services.

Should friends desire; donations may be made to the Maine Handicapped Skiing, 8 Sundance Lane, Newry, Maine 04261, or to the Riley Scholarship Fund 7 June Berry Court, Yarmouth, Maine 04096 in Chuck’s memory.

Charles Lawrence Fohlin

Charles Lawrence Fohlin, 65, of Wells Highlands, died Friday evening, August 11, 2006, at his residence following a long illness. He was born in Boston, MA on October 1, 1940, the son of Paul Daniel and Dorothy May (Sanborn) Fohlin. He completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

On October 27, 1973, he married Dale Clark in Notre Dame Church in Springvale.

Charles was a Director of Sales in the Computer industry for Astea International, retiring in 2004.

He enjoyed scuba diving, basketball, volleyball, traveling, and sailing.

Survivors include:

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells, with Reverend Father Thomas Murphy concelebrating with Charles’ brother, Reverend Father Paul Fohlin. Burial will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford, ME. If desired, memorial donations may be made in his name to: The American Cancer Society, Northern New England Region, One Main Street, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. Arrangements under the direction of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME 04090.

Christie B. Dillon

Wells- Christie B. Dillon, 68 years, of Mark Avenue, formerly of Rutland, VT, died Thursday, January 4 at York Hospital after a long illness.

Christie was born in Rutland, VT on October 10, 1938, a daughter of Ellery and Alice Keith Bradley. She graduated from Black River High School in Ludlow, VT, was an alumnus of Castleton State College in Castleton, VT, and graduated from Rutland Business College.

Christie was a member of the VFW, Post 1926 Ladies Auxiliary in Simsbury, CT and past member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Simsbury Fire Co.

In April of 1964, Christie was at the concession stand at Riverside Park in Agawam, MA watching the stockcar races when a gentleman in front of her stepped on her foot causing her to stumble and fall into the arms of a stranger, Gerald H. Dillon. After a courtship that didn’t last 42 days, Gerald and Christie married on May 23, 1964 and celebrated 42 years of marriage together.

Christie was a crafter who enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, knitting, sewing, and making dolls. She made wedding pillows and baby blankets for everyone. Quite a few of the waitresses at the Maine Diner have enjoyed the baby blankets that she made for them. Christie also enjoyed country music, National League Football, and NASCAR.

Christie is predeceased by her brother Robert Bradley.

She is survived by her loving husband Gerald Dillon; sons Jonathan Bradley and his wife Sherry of Suffield, CT and Michael Dillon of Simsbury, CT; daughter Kathleen Thomas and her husband Jeffery of Huntington, MA; brother Keith Bradley of Fairbanks, AK; sister Jean Engibrod of Bridgewater, VT; six granddaughters Bethany, Jennifer, Cynthia, Jessica, Morgan, and Shannon; one nephew and many nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 12 at 11 AM at the Wells Congregational Church with Reverend Herb Henry. Interment will follow in the spring.

Christine C. Wyman
January 13, 2007
Berwick, Maine

Christine C. Wyman, 84, of School Street, died Saturday morning at Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH. She was born in Berwick on October 2, 1922, the daughter of Samuel A. and Syreina G. (Guptill) Chick. She received her primary education in the Berwick School system. Christine graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1944.

In 1946, she married Linwood S. Wyman, and they enjoyed 56 years together until his death in January 2002.

Christine held a variety of positions over the years. Upon graduation from UNH, she was employed as a dietician at Phillips Exeter Academy. She then taught in the South Berwick school system for 5 years. This was followed by her appointment as Stratford County 4H Agent, through the UNH co-operative program.

She was a member of the Sarah Orne Jewett Chapter #176, Order of the Eastern Star, South Berwick.

Christine enjoyed computers, knitting, cross-stitching, and puzzles. She and her husband also enjoyed summers in Wells.

Survivors include:

2 granddaughters: Stacy-Lee Emery of Kittery Point, ME
Sarah Jane Cesario of North Berwick
3 great grandchildren

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. During the visitation, at 10:30 a.m., an Eastern Star service will be held with members of Sara Orne Jewett Chapter #176. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel with the Reverend Cindy Nickerson officiating. Christine’s urn will be interred alongside her husband in the Spring in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to: The American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074; or The American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330. Arrangements under the direction of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, ME.
