Donald 'Pete' Wallace, Sr.

Donald Edward “Pete” Wallace, 65 years, died unexpectedly in his home on Old Cape Road on Thursday, December 7th.

Pete was born on June 25, 1941 in Bar Harbor, Maine the son of Frank and Margaret Dolliver White. His family moved to Kennebunkport when he was 14 and he graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1958.

Pete operated his own landscaping business for over 40 years. He enjoyed gardening and was known locally for his own beautiful flower gardens. Some of the flowers in Pete’s yard were over eight feet tall.

Pete enjoyed taking walks and traveling to Frye Island with his dog, Sadie. He loved spending holidays with his family. He was especially known for his Christmas Eve bonfires, where he and his family would gather every year at his home for food, drinks, and companionship.

Pete was predeceased by his purebred ‘Kennebunkport Chipmunk Hound’, Sidney last year.

Surviving Pete are his sons Donald E. Wallace, Jr. of Kennebunk and William F. Wallace and his wife Kimberly of Savannah, Georgia; daughters Becky A. Merrill and her husband Rick of Kennebunkport, Kelly Reuillard and her husband Derek of Biddeford, and Shila Soltys and Sarah Derham of California; and grandchildren Bailey, Amanda, Joey, Taylor, Tommy, and Tyrone.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 14, 2007 from 2-4 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME. Memorial services will be private.

Donald Schofield Burns

Donald Schofield Burns, 82 years, passed away Monday August 7, 2006 at the Veterans Home in Scarborough, Me after a brief illness.
He was born in Andover, MA on July 21,1924 a son of Joseph Lawrence and Katherine (Horne) Burns and was educated at Phillips Academy Andover, MA.
Donald entered world war two at age 18 years old on July 1943 into basic training for United States Army and served the better part of the war as a medic with engineers combat in Germany. He received the bronze star and was cited for the Silver Star after meritorious service to his wounded comrades.
After the war, he entered Amherst College in 1946 and graduated in 1950.
He married Joan Fleming in 1950 his wife of 54 years.
He was a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch and Harris Upham in Boston, MA.
He lived in Andover and North Andover, MA for many years. He summered in Biddeford Pool and Drakes Island. He retired to Kennebunkport and worked as the coffee man at Bradbury Brothers for a number of years.
Donald was a member of St Augustine Parish, member ancient and honorable member of Manchester Bath and Tennis Club, board member of Lanam Club all of Andover, MA.
He was an active member of Republican Party.
He loved to read, loved to listen to music and spend time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife Joan Fleming Burns who died in 2003.
Donald is survived by four daughters Holly Johnson, Heidi Maynard and Amy Gaynor all of Kennebunkport and Sarah Bushee of Duxbury, MA, a brother Thomas D. Burns, and three sisters Cathleen Burns Elmer, Anne Laskey and Constance Burns Silverman and four grandchildren Lindsey B. Johnson, Corey B. McInnis, Whitney A. Bushee and Colin B. Gaynor.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 3 PM Monday August 14, 2006 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk where a funeral will be held at 3 PM at the Chapel with the Reverend Carolyn Lambert officiating. Interment will be in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport, ME.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maine Veterans Home Activity Fund, 290 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074 in Mr. Burns’ memory.

Donna Rosemary Evans

Kennebunkport- Donna R. Evans died late Saturday night June 24, 2006 at Southern Maine Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was the daughter of Frank Ray and Ann F. Moulton, born in 1942. She moved with her parents to Kennebunkport, Maine in 1945. She graduated from Kennebunkport Grade School and Kennebunk High School. During her teens, she worked as a Candy Striper at the old Webber Hospital in Biddeford, ME. After High School graduation she trained and graduated as a Practical Nurse in Cambridge, MA at Holy Ghost Hospital.

While in her nurses training she met and later married Jack Evans and had two children, Dawne Evans and John Evans. Her husband was then in the Navy and she worked in several hospitals and health care centers as they moved from one base to another. Those were busy years with the moves, careers, and raising their young family.

Donna was an avid book reader, a passion she carried from her early years. She loved traveling, and in her later years enjoyed helping many of her older friends. She was a very sensitive and kind person.

Her mother Ann F. Moulton and her sister Ann A. Henry predeceased her.

She is survived by her father Frank Ray Moulton; her long time companion Ron Valade; daughter Dawne Evans of Biddeford, ME; son John Evans of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren Chasitey, Brandon, Haleigh, Ethan, Scotty, and Steve Evans; one great granddaughter Reagan Cassidy Evans; five nephews James and Michael Sidbury, and William, Charles, and Ray Henry; one niece Lynn Rae Sidbury; and many other relatives and friends. She will be missed and loved by all.

At Donna’s request there will be no formal services. Interment will be in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport, Maine.

Doris Elizabeth MacLaren Collins

Doris Elizabeth MacLaren Collins 86 years a resident of Fletcher Woods, Kennebunk formerly of Milton, MA died January 3, 2007 at her home after a brief illness.

She was born in Boston, MA on February 10, 1920 a daughter of Henry Lawrence and Cora Mae (Greenall) MacLaren. She attended Dedham Schools and graduated from Dedham High School the class of 1938.

She was employed by S.D. Warren of Boston, MA as Teletype Operator Supervisor for over 18 yrs.

She moved to Kennebunk in 1989 and was a member of the Christ Church of Kennebunk.

Doris was an avid reader and member of the Book Club of Kennebunk.

She was predeceased by her husband George Walter Collins who died in 1982, two brothers Russell N. MacLaren and David L. MacLaren, a sister Sylvia G. MacLaren.

She is survived by her brother Henry (Harry) F. MacLaren and his wife Frances of Boise her sister in Law Mrs. Russell N. (Janet) MacLaren of Medway, MA, two nephews and four nieces.

Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Thursday January 11, 2007 at the Christ Church Dane Street Kennebunk with the Reverend Stephen Hastings officiating.

Private Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester, MA.

In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society 1 Main Street Suite 300 Topsham, Maine 04086 in Mrs. Collins’s memory.

Doris Mary Sidelinger

Berwick- Doris Mary Sidelinger, 81 years, of Sun City, Arizona died June 7, 2006 at her daughters home in Berwick, lovingly surrounded by her family.

Doris was born December 24, 1924 in Dover, NH a daughter of Joseph J. and Ida A. Marcoux Gorman. She attended local schools and graduated from Dover High School.

Doris worked as a bookkeeper for the San Jose Hospital in California and also for the Rollingsford Shoe Company in Rollingsford, NH. After marrying John Sidelinger on July 11, 1971, Doris retired and devoted her time to homemaking.

Doris enjoyed bridge and other card games and dining out. She and John also enjoyed dancing, both ballroom and square-dancing. She regularly attended her church in Arizona.

Doris is predeceased by her son David Marshall; brother Joseph Gorman; and sisters Alice Dodge and Ann Haberstock.

Surviving Doris are her loving husband of almost 35 years John Sidelinger; daughter Gayle Whitney and her husband C. Michael Hall; grandchildren Sean Powell and Angela Cullen; great grandchild Cameron Cullen; niece Ellen Kimball; and nephew Richard LaBreque.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Friday June 9 at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday June 10 at Our Lady of Peace with celebrant Father John Skehan. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery in Berwick.

Dorothy Arline 'Dot' Gagnon
August 11, 2006
Kennebunk

Dorothy Arlene (Dot) Gagnon, 94, formerly of Sanford Road, Wells, died Friday evening at Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Wells on August 17, 1911, the daughter of Lewis and Beaulah (Sayward) Phillips.

Dot grew up in the North Berwick area, and moved to West Kennebunk in 2002 to live with her daughter Shirley. For more than two years she had resided with her many friends at Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

On May 20, 1950, she married Leon Gagnon of Sanbornville, NH and they resided in Wells for many years. He died in 1984.

Dot was a stay-at-home mom where she raised her two daughters. She enjoyed her family, trips to Old Orchard Beach, and attending the many town fairs in the fall with her granddaughter Marilyn Matthews.

In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by a daughter, Betty Foley; and two grandchildren: Charlie Foley and Jean Sanborn.

Survivors include:
her daughter, Shirley Coffron of Kennebunk
her brother, Wayne Wormwood of Scarborough
her sister, Laura Neal of North Berwick
5 grandchildren
17 great grandchildren
21 great great grandchildren
4 great great great grandchildren
and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Monday from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, where a Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, West Kennebunk.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center's Recreation Department.

Dorothy P. Heaton

Dorothy P. Heaton, 86, of Ross Rd., died late Friday evening at Southern Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Winchester, MA on February 22, 1920, a daughter of Robert and Mary Diana (Houle) Nadeau.

She was educated locally and attended Kennebunk High School.

Dorothy lived in a variety of locations, starting in Winchester, MA. The family then moved to Biddeford, and then to Salem, MA. She then settled in Kennebunkport. Upon her retirement, she lived in the Titusville and Hallendale, FL areas.

For a number of years, Dorothy was a postal worker with The United States Postal Service, serving the Cape Porpoise and Kennebunkport areas.

She was a former member of the Kennebunkport chapter of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was also a voracious reader, right up to the time of her death. Her children state that she was an excellent cook, and loved to cook for friends and family. Her daughter remembers always having fresh baked goods to bring to any social event in her youth. Dorothy was also an excellent seamstress and would stay up late nights to hand knit socks to match the childrens’ outfits.

Dorothy was pre-deceased by her husband, James Heaton; 2 brothers: Robert Nadeau, Jr. and Gerard “Jerry” Nadeau; and 1 daughter: Judy Quigley.

Survivors include:
her son: Jon E. Hutchins of Kennebunkport
her daughter: Diana Abbott of Moody
a brother: Raymond Nadeau of Kennebunk
4 grandchildren
3 great grandchildren

There are no visiting hours. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, October 14, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ross Corner Woods Apartments, 124 Ross Road, Kennebunk.
