Lee W. Plaisted, 53 years, of Winter Street, Saco died suddenly at Southern Maine Medical Center on Monday, October 16, 2006.

Lee was born May 25, 1953 in Biddeford, Maine, a son of Walter A. and Charlotte (Beaudoin) Plaisted. He graduated from Thornton Academy in 1971 and he attended the University of Maine at Orono. He worked as a CADD technician for Neill and Gunter, Inc.

Lee was an avid reader, enjoyed science fiction, music and computers. He was a quiet man who enjoyed his solitude.

Lee is survived by a sister Deborah and her husband Mark Stewart; a brother Stephen and his wife Priscilla Plaisted; and niece and nephew Samantha Stewart and Tyler Stewart.

Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Friday October 20 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME.

LeRoy E. Nightingale

LeRoy E. Nightingale, 76 years, of Skyline Circle, died Friday, July 21, 2006 in his home lovingly surrounded by his family.

Roy was born September 29, 1929 to Clyde and Beatrice (Gray) Nightingale in Grindstone, Maine. He attended schools in Grindstone, Portland and Bucksport High School where he graduated. He served in the US Army for three years with the medics in Japan.

Roy married Wyneta Conary in 1950 and later graduated from UMO with his BA and Masters Degree in guidance. Roy taught school for over 30 years in Ellsworth, Patten, New Jersey, Lincoln, and Bucksport. For the last 17 years of his career he was the guidance counselor at Schenck High School in East Millinocket. Roy’s love for his students far exceeded the classroom.

Roy was a 32nd degree Mason of Horeb Lodge No.93 AF & AM of Lincoln, Anah Temple of Maine, a member of the Penobscot Shrine Club, the Maine Guidance Association, and served on many boards for the town of Lincoln. Roy was also a volunteer for the Ombudsman Program in York County.

Roy enjoyed winters in Florida and summers in Maine where many friends in both locations will miss him.

His parents, his brother Leslie and sister Louise Hanscom predeceased him.

Roy is survived by his wife of 56 years Wyneta; son Terry and his wife Nancy of Newfields, NH; daughter Denise and husband Dick Gordon of Portland, ME; brothers Clyde Jr. and Rodney and his wife Elaine; sisters Kay Gomm, Althea and husband Tom Coleman, and Dawn and husband Gene Ladd; and the five loves of his life, his grandchildren Katie Nightingale and fiancé Bill Zackeroff of Goffstown, NH, Jessica (Nightingale) and husband Lance Glaser of Haverhill, MA, Nicholas Gordon and wife Paige of Portland, ME, Nathan Gordon and fiancé Brandi Knight of Topsham, ME, and Whitney Gordon and fiancé CPL USMC Robert Miller of Portland. “By the way” as his grandchildren always said, “You’re looking good LeRoy.” Also surviving are many special nieces and nephews and one very special niece, Paulette Gomm.

A graveside service will be held at the Veterans Memorial cemetery on Monday, July 24, 2006 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Gerry Dill officiating.

Lester Gordon Hutchins

West Kennebunk- Lester Gordon Hutchins, 77 years, of Alewive Road died Sunday May 28, 2006 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a long illness.

Lester was born December 15, 1928 in Kennebunk, a son of Harland and Daisy Wildes Hutchins. He attended local schools. Lester married Constance Campbell on February 9, 1950.

The Maine Turnpike Authority employed Lester for 35 years, where he was a foreman.

Lester loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Lester is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Constance Campbell Hutchins; sons John Lester Hutchins and his wife Susan and Dana Edward Hutchins; daughter Margie Meyer and her husband Herbert; brothers Ralph Hutchins, Robert Hutchins, and Kenneth Hutchins; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will take place in Arundel cemetery with Reverend Tim Hutchins officiating.

Lida Iva Phillips Brown

Lida Iva Phillips Brown, 94, of Littlefield Rd., Wells, died Friday, December 29, 2006 at Greenwood Nursing Home, Sanford.

She was born February 20, 1912 in Sanford, Maine, a daughter of Hosea S.M. and Mabel (Lida) hatch Phillips. She attended Sanford schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1932. She won awards for her speed in shorthand and typing.

She was a homemaker and worked along with her husband to raise their five children. She preserved vegetables and jams for the winter along with tending to the garden. She helped with the winter supply of firewood, including cutting down the trees and splitting the logs. When her husband went into the cement contracting business, she worked along with him on many jobs. She was also the bookkeeper for the business.

In their retirement years, she and her husband traveled across New Hampshire and Maine visiting many beautiful picturesque places. They loved fishing and bird hunting up in the Maine woods. In later years, she loved to go on scenic trips with her son, Skip and his wife June. They took her to many of the places that she had visited with her husband. She also loved the beautiful pictures that June captured with her camera. She felt so blessed and thankful to all her family for their love, their visits and favors bestowed upon her. She saw many changes during her lifetime.

She was a member of the Wells Ogunquit Historical Society.

Her husband of 66 years, John P. Brown Sr predeceased her on October 4, 1999. Two of her grandchildren, Roger Moffett and Rachel Moffett Eatmon also predeceased her.

Surviving are her three daughters, Marion B. Noble, and Ann B. Godin, both of Wells; and Beth B. Moffett of Freeport, Fla; two sons, John P. Jr (Skip) and Ronald W. Brown both of Wells; two brothers, Martin Phillips of Fla. and Weston Phillips of North Berwick, ME; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation period will be on Wednesday, January 10, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Herb Henry officiating. Private Interment will be in Oceanview Cemetery, Wells. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial donations in her memory to: The Historical Society of Wells/Ogunquit, PO Box 801, Wells, ME 04090. Arrangements under the care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells.

Lillian L. Chasse

Kennebunk - Lillian L. Chasse died Friday July 21 at the Kennebunk Nursing Center after a long illness. She was born on March 30, 1914 in Skowhegan, the daughter of William J. Lessard and Derilda LaPlante Lessard.

She attended Skowhegan High School and graduated from the New England Conservatory in 1935 in Piano forte and Organ. She was secretary and class photographer her Junior and Senior years and a member of the National Honor Music Society, Mu Psi Epsilon.

She had served as organist in Skowhegan, Kennebunk, Holy Family Church in Sanford, Notre Dame in Springvale, St. Mary’s Church in Wells, and All Saints in Ogunquit.

Lillian married Gerald J. Chasse on May 30, 1937. They resided in Skowhegan, Kennebunk, Sanford, Wells, and retired to Hollywood, Florida after wintering there for years.

Throughout her life, she taught piano and was loved by her pupils, many of whom maintained a relationship until her death. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was happiest when serving her community, her God, and her friends.

Lillian is predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Gerald J. Chasse who passed away on September 12, 2005.

She is survived by one brother, Victor Lessard of Lumberton, NC and her very much loved Aunt Laura Boyle of Skowhegan, a son James P. Chasse and his wife, Gemma of Haverhill, MA, two daughters, Patricia Chasse of Portland and Carolyn Chasse Nieves and her husband Ray of Huntingtown, MD, five grandchildren, Mark Olson of Dedham, MA, Jennifer Olson Hann and her husband John of Millis, MA, James A. Chasse and his wife Beth, and Nicole Chasse of Haverhill, MA and Michael Chasse of Lancaster, MA, and three great grandchildren, Casey Hann, and Jonathan and Sarah Chasse, sister in law Lorraine Greene and brother in law Charles Hunter.

The family would like to thank the devoted staff at the Kennebunk Nursing and especially Dr. Williard Stitzell for their care of both Lillian and Gerald Chasse during these past few years.

There will be no visiting hours. There will be a celebration of Lillian’s Life with a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Eldridge Road, Wells, ME on Wednesday, July 26 at 10 AM. It will be followed by a reception at St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Burial will take place at 3 PM at Calvary cemetery in Skowhegan, ME.

Linda Telles

Kennebunk- Linda Gray Telles, 59 years, of Whitten Road, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on December 22. Linda had been battling with cancer for a year, a fight she fought with a quiet grace and upbeat outlook. She would often reflect on the wonderful life she lived and her countless blessings.

Linda was born in Portsmouth, NH on April 1, 1947, a daughter of Vincent and Edith Littlefield Telles. She graduated from Portsmouth High School and the University of New Hampshire.

Linda was an accomplished teacher who worked for 35 years with young children. Her joy in teaching and dedication to her students was apparent to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by the staff and students at the Little Harbour School in Portsmouth.

Her delight in teaching extended beyond the classroom. She was the director of the summer swimming program for the Oyster River Youth Association. She took particular delight in teaching her niece Ivey to swim at the age of three years.

Linda was predeceased by her parents Vincent and Edith Telles; and her sister Charmaine Telles.

Surviving Linda are her dear companion Marie Pike and friend Lois Litz of Kennebunk; sisters April Telles and her husband James Montgomery of Boston and Redondo Beach, CA and Winifred Telles of Greenland, NH; uncle Henry Littlefield of Shapleigh, ME; and her beloved niece, Ivey Telles of Greenland, NH.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 10:30 AM at the Greenland Community Congregational Church in Greenland, NH.

Lois Fay Stone

Lois Stone, 72, beloved wife of Earl Blake Stone, died December 18, 2006 of natural causes at Mariner Healthcare Facility in Glen Burnie, Maryland after a lengthy illness following a stroke in 2001.

She was born May 25, 1934 in Fort Fairfield Maine, beloved daughter of George Franklin and Sadie Blanche (Condon) Fay.

She was the dearest wife of Earl Blake Stone for 54 years. Lois and Earl have two daughters Cathy Ann, and Carol Lynne and one son Kenneth Earl.

She was educated in the Fort Fairfield school system and was a 1952 graduate. She was a member of the French and Latin Club, and the Honor Society.

She very much enjoyed singing and sang in the school choral group, Bethel Baptist Church Choir, and several military chapels. She was a Girl Scout Brownie leader and Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Lois enjoyed cooking, reading, painting, gardening, camping cross-country with the family and had a dear love for animals.

Lois will be remembered for her love as an artist, musician, caring friend, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Lois’ endless love and commitment to her family will be forever remembered by her husband, Earl Blake Stone of Odenton, Maryland; two daughters, Cathy Anne Denman and her husband Lee Edward Denman Sr. of Mt. Tremper, New York; Carol Lynne Farmer and her husband, Wayne David Farmer of Glen Burnie, Maryland; one son, Kenneth Earl Stone and his wife Jackie Stone of Berkley, Massachusetts; and her brother Alton Fay of Fort Fairfield, Maine. Lois had four grandchildren: Michael David Farmer of Baltimore, Maryland; Lee Edward Denman Jr. of Victor, New York; Jennifer Lynne Farmer of Glen Burnie, Maryland; and Christopher Blake Farmer of Glen Burnie, Maryland and two great-grandchildren, David Michael and Griffin Wayne Farmer of
Baltimore, Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Franklin Fay; her mother, Sadie Blanche (Condon) Fay; four sisters, Madeline Nelson, Blanche Neilson, Florence Fay, and Letha Alice Bouchard; four brothers, Ralph, George, Clarence, and Kenneth Fay; and one granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Farmer.

Family and friends may view on Saturday, December 23rd at 1:00 pm at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, Berwick, Maine, where funeral services will be held in the Chapel at 2:00 pm. with the Rev. Mark Rideout officiating. Interment will be held at the Evergreen cemetery in Berwick, Maine.
