Mr. Harold Eugene McAllister

NORWAY - Harold Eugene "Mac" McAllister, 69, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, comforted by his wife and children.
He was born in Norway on October 24, 1936 and raised in Lovell. He graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1955, at which time he moved to the Norway area and married Marie Arlene Paradis of Paris on June 21, 1958.
Mr. McAllister was employed initially at Paris Manufacturing Company for five years and then for 39 years in the shoe industry.
In the few years before his retirement, he worked at the Oxford County Courthouse and the Oxford Hills School District in maintenance and custodial services.
For the past 10 years, he was the owner and operator of Mac's Tool and Saw Sharpening Service on Alpine Street in Norway.
He was an active participant in the community. He served on the Budget Committee for the Town of Paris and was a member of the Board of Directors of the original No-Par Federal Credit Union in South Paris.
He enjoyed children, sports, music and the outdoors. He coached Little League baseball and was instrumental in developing the Babe Ruth Baseball program for children of South Paris.
In his spare time, he was on a bowling team, provided waxing and repair services for the Oxford Hills Ski Teams in the 80s, and was a member of SAMs Club.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time in the summer and fall with his family members hunting and fishing. He loved to dance with his wife, and play his guitar and harmonica for his children and grandchildren. The Christmas holidays were very special to him. He found great pleasure in "doing" for others.
He leaves behind in his memory his wife of 47 1/2 years, Marie A. (Paradis) McAllister; three children, Lori J. Bellwood and her husband, James A. of Oxford, Stephen R. McAllister and companion Laura Landry of Oxford and Kristin D. Linindoll and her husband, Thomas L., of South Paris; nine grandchildren, Jennifer M. (Bellwood) Webster and her husband, Brook E. of South Portland, Gregory J. Bellwood serving in the United States Army in Iraq, Stephanie A. Bellwood of Oxford, Matthew S. Bellwood of Oxford, Bambi R. Thibodeau of Hamden, Lauren M. McAllister of Jacksonville, FL, Stephen R. McAllister II of Oxford, Brooke E. Linindoll and Whitney D. Linindoll of South Paris, and Laura's children Logan Landry, Skye Landry and Lacey Landry all of Oxford. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Guinevere L. Webster and Braeden H. Webster of South Portland, and Timothy Lee Mohring III of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Ivan Orrington McAllister and his wife, Anita, of Ocean Springs, MS, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. McAllister is predeceased by his father, Ivan Webster McAllister; his mother, Etta Mabel Ray and a sister, Marie Lydia (McAllister) Wood- Matthews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 26 at 4 p.m. at The First Congregational Church on Main Street in South Paris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Harold E. McAllister Memorial Fund at Norway Savings Bank, 261 Main Street, Norway, ME 04268.
Messages of condolence may be forwarded to 53 Birch Ave, Oxford, ME 04270.
Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives, LLC, Auburn.

Mr. Terrence C. Brown

LEWISTON - Terrence C. Brown, 70, a resident of Spofford Street in Lewiston, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, January 28, 2006 in the Emergency Room at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born October 3, 1935 in Norway, the son of Curtis and Dorice (Bradbury) Brown.
He attended school in South Paris and at Leavitt Institute in Turner.
Mr. Brown served in the United States Marine Corps. On November 22, 1957 at the Oxford Roller Skating Rink he married Agnes Harlow of North Turner. He worked as a laborer in construction, a shoe worker and then a farmhand at chicken and dairy farms in the Turner and Livermore area. He was a member of the North Turner C.B. Club; his handle was "Gremlin." In the late 50s and early 60s he raced stock cars at Oxford Plains Speedway. He enjoyed bicycle racing, hunting, fishing, camping, slot car racing and skating at Oxford Roller Rink.
He is survived by his companion; three daughters, Wanda Benson and her husband David of Leeds, Linda Lee Williams and her husband James of Auburn and Ina Filoa of New York; two sons, Curtis Brown and his wife Kristine and Terrence "T.C." Brown both of Auburn; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a former daughter-in-law, Nancy Brown of Turner; a brother, Vern Brown of South Paris; brother-in-law, Eugene Harlow and his wife Ann of North Turner and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two grandsons, Michael PaulDay and Berry Williams I.
Gravesides services will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls.

Mr. David E. Pattern

GLOUCESTER, VA - David E. Pattern, 60, of Gloucester, VA, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 2. He was born May 20, 1946, in Norway, the son of Ernest and Maud Pattern.
Mr. Pattern was a retiree from the U.S. Air Force and a professional driver with MBI Trucking Company. He was a very loving, loyal and dedicated family man and enjoyed quiet time with his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and horseback riding with his wife. He will always be remembered for his warm, friendly smile and happy attitude.
Survivors include his wife Judy; daughter Rebecca Visner and her husband John; son Robert E. Pattern; two grandchildren, Zachary Cole Webb and Nathan Noble Webb; sister Lillian Stearns; brother Raymond Pattern; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Leroy Pattern; and three sisters, Evelyn Harlow, Hazel Williams and Beverly Cronin.
A funeral service was held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, at the Chapel of Hogg Funeral Home in Gloucester Point, VA. The family received friends at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Maine.

Mrs. Shirley E. West

SOUTH PARIS - Shirley E. West, 77, of South Paris died Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Maine Veterans Home.
She was born in New Auburn on June 1, 1929, the daughter of Kenneth and Elizabeth Johnson Stevens. She married Donald West on July 4, 1946; he predeceased her in 1979.
Mrs. West worked many years in the cafeteria at the Paris High School and Hebron Academy. She later worked at Robinson Manufacturing and retired from there in 1992. She enjoyed going to Bar Harbor with her parents and her sister. She was a musician who loved to sing, play piano, and also play the harpsichord. Her favorite band was Schooner Fare. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth West and his wife Barbara of South Paris; a foster son, John Kenneth Newell and his wife Sheila of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Michael West and his wife Carol of South Paris, Marlene Young and her husband Eric of South Paris and Marc West and his wife Kelly of Norway; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Crystal, Bailey and Julyan West; one sister, Joyce Carmen of South Paris; three brothers, Bill Stevens and his wife Freda of West Paris, Lester Stevens and his wife Barbara of Poland and Paul Stevens of Oxford and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald West; a brother, Jimmy Stevens; a brother in law, Harvey Carmen and a niece, Kathleen Austin.
Visiting hours were held on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.. in the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main St., South Paris. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday morning at 10 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Norway. Interment immediately followed at the Riverside Annex Cemetery in South Paris.

Mr. Elric M. Davis

OXFORD - Elric M. Davis, 74, of Oxford died Sunday, September 24, 2006 at his home.
He was born in Oxford on March 27, 1932, the son of Carrol and Gladys Gagne Davis. He attended schools in Oxford. He married Patricia Sullivan in 1958; she predeceased him on July 23, 2005.
Mr. Davis is survived by three sons, John Allen and his wife Judith of South Paris, William Davis and Ricky Davis and his wife Myra all of South Paris; three daughters, Diane LaBrecque and her husband Dan of Lakeville, MA, Linda Young and her husband Dana of South Paris and Cindy Parker and her husband Gard of Georgia; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 30 at 2 p.m. at East Oxford Cemetery in Oxford. Arrangements are under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 230 Main St., Norway.

Mr. Charles E. R. 'Ray' Bunker

MECHANIC FALLS - Charles E. R. "Ray" Bunker, 86, of Mechanic Falls died Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
He was born in Lewiston on September 24, 1920, the son of Walter and Abbie Ray Bunker. He attended school in New Gloucester and graduated from Edward Little High School. He was a store clerk for his uncle at a grocery store in Lewiston and worked at the Portland shipyard before the war. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Jacqueline Stuart on June 12, 1947. He was an insurance salesman for many years. After retirement he worked at Northeast Bank.
He was a member of the Town Council, the Planning Board and Tree Warden and Economic Development Committee for the Town of Mechanic Falls. He also served on the Androscoggin County Budget Committee, was Past Master of Tyrian Lodge #73 AF & AM, Past High Priest of St. Andrews RAC, Past Illustrious Master of Dunlap Council, treasurer for the Masonic Holding Corporation and a member of the Scottish Rites. He attended United Pentecostal Church in Lewiston and kept busy gardening and woodworking. He was a wonderful husband.
Mr. Bunker is survived by his wife of Mechanic Falls; a son, Ronald and his wife Evelyn of Minot; two grandchildren, Katie Bunker of Mississippi and Charles Bunker of Auburn; two sisters, Orlean Sturgis of New Gloucester and Aldine Crocker and her husband Sam of Brewer; a sister-in-law, Donna King and her husband Elliot of Lewiston and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Bunker and a brother-in-law, Elliott Sturgis.
Family and friends attended a graveside service on Wednesday, November 29 at 11 a.m. at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn. Tyrian Lodge #73 AF & AM conducted services at that time. Remembrance donations can be made to Mechanic Falls Rescue Association, PO Box 130, Mechanic Falls, ME 04256.
Arrangements are under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls.

Mrs. Doris P. Schieferstein

HARRISON - Doris P. Schieferstein, 87, of Harrison died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
She was born in Somerville, NJ on February 9, 1920, the daughter of Charles W. and Mary Pickell Craig. She graduated from Somerville High School and worked at A. M. Best Co. in Oldwick, NJ for many years. She married John H. Schieferstein on February 24, 1940. She was a member of the United Reform Church in Somerville, NJ where she was secretary-treasurer of the Primary Dept., Sunday School, a former member of the Somerville Civic League and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Harrison. She retired to Maine in 1984.
Mrs. Schieferstein is survived by her children, Richard C. Schieferstein and his wife Charlene of Harrison and Diane L. Prow and her husband Richard of Hillsborough, NJ; a brother, Charles Craig of Kutztown, PA; a sister, Loretta Crate of Lawrenceville, NJ; three grandchildren, John Schieferstein and his wife Whitney, Stacey Prow and Scott Prow and one great-grandson, Quinn Allyn Schieferstein. She was predeceased by her husband in 1992.
Family and friends may attend visiting hours on Friday evening, February 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a funeral service at 8 p.m. at Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 230 Main St., Norway. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Harrison Village Cemetery in Harrison.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stephens Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Mr. Edward N. Swett, Jr.

WATERFORD - Edward N. Swett, Jr., 68, formerly of Waterford died Sunday morning, March 25, 2007 at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris.
He was born in Paris September 6, 1938, the son of Edward N. and Ruth Sweatland Swett, Sr. and graduated from Paris High School in 1957. He served his country in the Air Force from 1958-1962. On July 28, 1962 he married Ruth Allen; she died July 17, 2006.
Mr. Swett worked many years for Maine Central Railroad. He was a past member and supporter of the Waterford Fire Department. He enjoyed dancing, camping with his family and watching sports of all variety.
Survivors include his children, Bruce and April Swett and Andrea and Brad Grover all of North Waterford; grandchildren, Tammi and Donn Lemay and children Sydney and Raegan of Littlerock AFB, AR and Jeremy and Danielle Edwards and children Bridgett, Brianne, Natalie and Jeremiah of U.S. Army, Germany; two sisters, Nancy Harvey of South Paris and Cynthia and David Demers of Greenville and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends called at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main Street, South Paris on Wednesday evening, March 28. Interment will be in Riverside Annex Cemetery, South Paris later in the spring. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial gifts in his memory to Stoneham Rescue or Waterford Fire Department, both at 366 Valley Road, Waterford, ME.
