Louis Sousa Furnas, Jr.

Berwick, Maine

Louis Sousa Furnas, Jr., 88, of Long Swamp Road, died Sunday, March 07, 2010 at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover following a period of declining health. He was born in Fall River, MA on July 25, 1921, a son of Louis S. Furnas, Sr., and Beatrice Furnas.

Louis was a proud Air Force veteran. He served as a Crew Chief in both the C-117 and C-124 aircraft, and retired after 42 years of active and reserve time. After his military service, he was employed by Firestone in Fall River for 25 years, and then by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 8 years.

His first wife, Mary G. Furnas predeceased him in 1995. He married his second wife, Irene (Laroche) in 2000.

Louis was fascinated by flight, and not only earned his private pilot’s license, but also built and repaired airplanes. He was a proud member of the American Legion in Berwick.

Survivors include his loving wife Irene of Berwick; his son, Louis F. Furnas of Stafford Springs, CT; his daughter, Kathleen Almy of Tiverton, RI; a sister, Bernadette Cabral of Westport, MA; 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Parish/Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 25 Saw Mill Hill, Berwick. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick. If desired, the family encourages memorial donations in his memory to: Hyder Family Hospice House, c/o Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833. Arrangements are in care of Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester Street, PO Box 728, Berwick, ME 03901.

Luella Elizabeth Ingalls

Kennebunk- Luella Elizabeth Ingalls 97 years a resident of Ross Road Kennebunk died December 26, 2009 at the Kennebunk Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.

Luella was born in Kennebunk on April 1, 1912 a daughter of Arthur and Priscilla (Gooch) Wyman. She graduated from Kennebunk High School on Park Street.

She was employed by the Kennebunk System and the Fisher-James Office Supplies as saleswoman for many years. She also worked as a housekeeper for Knott family in Kennebunkport for several years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Kennebunk where she helped the beans suppers at the York Lodge for many years

Luella enjoyed sewing and knitting.

She was predeceased by her husband Raymond T. Ingalls Sr.

Luella is surviving by two sons Raymond T. Ingalls Jr. of West Kennebunk and Brian A. Ingalls and his wife Mimi of Lyman, a brother Wayne Wyman of Kennebunk and four grandchildren Meline Walker, Tyler Ingalls, Jessica Jarvis and Tara Ingalls and five great grandchildren and several niece and nephews.

Funeral Service with the Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 10 AM Thursday December 31, 2009 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street Kennebunk following by Interment in Pine Grove cemetery West Kennebunk.

Marguerite "Marjorie" Bresnahan, 89, of Wells, died Saturday, November 20, 2010 at York Hospital.

There are no calling hours. A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Augustin Cemetery, 383 Beech Street, Manchester, NH.

Marguerite R. Kelley, 97, of Kennebunkport died on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at St. Andre's Health Care Facility in Biddeford.

She was born on February 4, 1913, a daughter of George and Nellie (Foley) Ripcoe in Lawrence, MA.

She went to school at St. Lawrence O'Toole Grammar School and St. Mary's High School in Lawrence, MA. She graduated from Bryant & Stratton Business School in Boston.

She was employed with the Lawrence Gas & Electric Co. in Lawrence, MA and also with the Keuffel & Esser Co. in Kennebunk.

She was a parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish - St. Martha's Church.

Marguerite enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, and taking care of family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ambrose R. Kelley in 1985 and her brother George Ripcoe.

She is survived by her son, George Kelley and his wife, Elise Jacques, M.D. of Thompson, CT; her daughter, Marguerite Sullivan and her husband, Robert of Kennebunkport; two grandchildren, Robert W. Sullivan and Michele J. Kelley; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Samuel, and Brayden Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 11 AM at St. Martha's Church in Kennebunk. A private Interment will be held at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception cemetery in Lawrence, MA on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Marilyn Johnson Garvey Morgan

Marilyn Johnson Garvey Morgan, 81 years, a resident of Old Country Road in Wells, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 at her residence with her family at her side.

Marilyn was born March 20, 1929 in Holyoke, MA, a daughter of Howard and Ethel (Waddington) Johnson, Sr.

She graduated from Holyoke High School, and went on to Mercy Hospital School of Nursing to earn her nursing degree.

Mrs. Morgan worked as an RN in several hospitals, including Baystate Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA as well as a school nurse at Chicopee Comprehensive High School for several years.

Marilyn enjoyed walking, reading, and playing golf at the York Golf and Tennis Club, where she was a member. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased her first husband, Robert Garvey in 1990; by a brother, Howard Johnson, Jr.; and an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Morgan of Kennebunk; two sons, Daniel Garvey of Kittery and Michael Garvey and wife, Molly of Columbus, OH; two daughters, Kathleen Wheeler and fiancé Tom McDonough of Wells and Joanne Sinclair and husband Guy of Wells; three brothers, Jack Johnson and wife Barbara of Wells, Donald Johnson and wife Rosemary of Holyoke, MA, and David Johnson of Albany, NY; 1 sister, Sr. Patricia Johnson of Holyoke, MA; 2 step-children, Joseph Morgan, Jr. and wife Amy of Centerville, OH and Sheila Noon and husband Pat of Seattle, WA; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, October 18, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 11 AM at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary's Church, Eldridge Road, Wells. Interment will follow on Wednesday, October 20 at 11 AM at Calvary cemetery in Chicopee, MA.

Should friends desire, donations in Marilyn's memory can be made to: Beacon Hospice, Lighthouse Foundation, 42 Brickyard Court, York, ME 03909 or Bureau for Exceptional Children and Adults, P.O. Box 1039, Holyoke, MA 01041.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Beacon Hospice for their tender loving care of Marilyn over the past two years, and also the angels who cared for her on a daily basis: Julie Marcoullier, Sarah Rowe, Ashlyn Moody, Telishia Rynard, Erica Severns, Cindy McDonough, Jackie Hynes, and most of all, Tree Wheeler.

Mark Ray Wentzell

Mark Ray Wentzell, 55, passed away on Sunday, February 28 2010, after a short bout with cancer.

Mark was born on October, 3, 1954 in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Willis Wentzell and Shirley Sessions.

Mark was a resident of Ogunquit. He and his wife Lorna were also seasonal residents at their home in Stuart, FL. A graduate of Wells High School in 1972, Mark was an exceptional athlete playing football, basketball, baseball and track. Mark held the state record in the shot put for a number of years.

Mark was the owner of Kenzie Mart in Wells. Prior to owning his own business, he was a long time employee of Hannaford Bros.

He enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer. Mark was a member of the Cape Neddick Country Club. He was also a season ticket holder of The Sanford Mainers baseball team from their inaugural season. Mark did not miss many of the Wells High home football games since his playing days.

He leaves his wife of thirty five years, Lorna Wentzell; daughter and son-in-law, Mollie and Dan Doucette; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Izaiah Doucette; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Pam Wentzell.

On March 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., a Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Main Street, North Berwick. A reception at the Cape Neddick Inn will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, c/o Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route One, #1, Scarborough, ME 04074.

Martin Forrest Fagan

Martin Forrest Fagan, 88 years, a resident of Kennebunk Beach, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.

Martin was born February 22, 1922 in Rockville, CT, a son of John J. and Evelyn R. (Laubscher) Fagan. He grew up in Rockville and graduated from Rockville High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Sixth Year Degrees at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, where he pitched for the UConn Huskies.

Mr. Fagan was employed by the Vernon Board of Education at Rockville High School where he taught history, was a department head, director of adult education, assistant principal and principal, spanning a 34-year career.

In 1948, he married the love of his life, Ellen E. Spiller, and together they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Upon his retirement, the Fagans moved to Kennebunk Beach, where they have lived for the past 18 years.

Martin was a member of the Webhannet Golf Club; a charter member and former president of the Vernon CT Historical Society; a member of the Rockville Downtown Association; a member and past president of the Vernon Board of Realtors; a former member of Skungameag River Golf Club in Coventry, CT where he scored a hole in one; a former director of People's Bank; a 60- year charter member of Phi Delta Kappa; a 45-year member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals; and a member of the Dugout Club at the University of CT. He was privileged to be on the Wall of Honor at Rockville High School and the recipient of an award for helping to establish the Vernon Recreation program.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a brother Wayne R. Fagan.

He is survived by his loving wife Ellen of Kennebunk Beach; son Martin F. Fagan, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Vernon, CT; daughter Susan Cressey and her husband George of Kennebunk; 4 grandchildren: Brian Cressey and his wife Christine of Amesbury, MA; Eric Cressey and his wife Anna of Hudson, MA; Christopher Fagan of New York City, NY; and Kevin Fagan of W. Hartford, CT; and 2 great-grandchildren, Hannah and Nolan Cressey. Mr. Fagan is also survived by his sisters-in law, Jean Perkins and Lucille Fagan, a niece Carol Dickinson, and nephews: David McCullough, Timothy, Kevin, and John Fagan.

Memorial visitation will be on Friday, November 19, 2010, from 3-6 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. A memorial service will be Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 11 AM at The South Congregational Church, North Street, Kennebunkport. A tribute to Mr. Fagan’s life will be held at a later date in Rockville, CT.

Mary (Frannie) Brennan Hanson

Mary (Frannie) Brennan Hanson, 84 years, passed away on December 20, 2009 after a long illness.

Mary was born February 3, 1925 in Kennebunkport, the oldest child of William and Grace (Leach) Brennan. As the oldest of thirteen siblings, Mary had many duties to help with all of the younger children. Mary had no children of her own, but raised two boys, her nephew, William Brennan and her husband Harry’s great grandson, Steven.

Mary had a great sense of humor, loved to have a good time, enjoyed dining out, and visiting the casino, if she got the chance. She was a member of the Arundel Eagles, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had many relatives and friends, with one special friend whom she shared her life with, Celia Dyer. They shared many wonderful times together, thank you, Celia.

She is predeceased by two husbands, Roger Pendexter and Harry Hanson; three brothers, Jerry, Robert, and Michael Brennan; and four sisters, June, Evelyn, Kate, and Nora (Pat).

She is survived by three sisters, Jane McGuire, Wilma Norman, and Mildred Healy; two brothers, Charles and Kenneth Brennan; many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, each and every one; and her step great grandson, Steven.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 23 at 2 PM at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME . Interment will follow in the spring of 2010 in Arundel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094.

Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel.
