MARY ESTELLE HABENICHT (04/30/2003)

BANGOR - Mary Estelle Habenicht, 100, died April 28, 2003, at a Bangor healthcare center.

She was born June 11, 1902, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Ellen (Spratt) Baumann.

Estelle graduated from Bangor High School.

ELIZABETH G. HALLETT (04/30/2003)

ORRINGTON - Funeral services for Elizabeth G. Hallett, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Adam Soderberg, pastor of the EOCC, officiating.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

MILDRED C. HODGDON (04/30/2003)

BANGOR - Funeral services for Mildred C. Hodgdon, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett Jr., director of Chaplaincy Services, EMMC, officiating.

Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

HAZEL B. LINDGREN (04/30/2003)

CARIBOU - Hazel B. Kelley Lindgren, 80, died April 28, 2003, at Caribou surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Caribou, June 14, 1922, the daughter of Roy and Olive (Wright) Kelley. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Axel Lindgren.

MARIE BUKER LOMBARD (04/30/2003)

ST. ALBANS - Marie Buker Lombard, 84, died April 29, 2003, at a Waterville nursing home.

She was born Feb. 28, 1919, at St. Albans, the daughter of Harry and Leta (Merrick) Libby.

After graduating from Hartland Academy, Class of 1937, she married Earle Lombarde.

ANTHONY ALTERI (04/30/2003)

FRANKLIN and SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Major Anthony M. Alteri, 85, died at his home in Franklin, April 28, 2003.

He was born Sept. 20, 1917, at Oswego, N.Y., the son of Francesco and Eugenia (Calvanese) Alteri.

Anthony entered the U.S. Army as private.

NORMAND E. CYR, D.D.S. (04/30/2003)

FORT KENT - Normand E. Cyr, D.D.S., 82, died April 28, 2003, after a long battle with Lou Gehrig's, ALS, disease, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility.

He was born, May 17, 1920, in Fort Kent, the son of Irenee R. and Agnes (Nolan) Cyr.

LEVANT and BANGOR - Committal services for Raymond E. Smith Sr., who died Oct. 29, 2002, and Kathleen M. Thayer will be held Thursday at Riverview Cemetery, Main Road North, Hampden, following the 2 p.m. funeral service for Kathleen.

ROBERT E. WHITE SR. (04/30/2003)

WEST ENFIELD - Robert E. White Sr., 74, husband of Dorothy (Day) White, died April 28, 2003, at a Bangor hospital.

He was born in Woodville, July 30, 1928, the son of Claude and Minnie (Beathem) White.

Bob was an Army Veteran serving in the Honor Guard.

OLIA MAY TAINTER (04/30/2003)

ELLSWORTH - Olia May Tainter, 91, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility.

She was born June 1, 1911, on Bridge Hill in Ellsworth, the daughter of Elmer and Esther Maude (Carter) Tainter.

WAYNE A. DORR SR. (04/30/2003)

SEARSPORT and ALTON - Wayne A. Dorr Sr., 49, died unexpectedly April 28, 2003, at a Belfast hospital.

He was born Nov. 17, 1953, in Old Town, the son of Everett H. and Carolyn V. (Tarr) Dorr.

He attended Old Town schools, and served in the U.S. Navy.

JANE ANNE SIBLEY ELLIOTT

BUCKSPORT - A funeral service for Jane Anne Sibley Elliott will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with the Rev. Daniel Berry officiating.

Interment will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, R.I.

Immediately following the service, a gathering of conversation and refreshment will be held at Brown Hall.

Donations in Jane's memory may be made to the Elm St. Congregational Church, P.O. Box 878, Bucksport, ME 04416.

MILLINOCKET - Graveside committal services for Marc Goody Guillow, who died April 11, 2002, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.

Arrangements by R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, Millinocket.

CLARA L. HAMMONS

BUCKSPORT - Clara L. Hammons, 95, died April 3, 2003, at a Penobscot nursing facility.

Funeral services will be announced in the spring by Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, Bucksport.

MARGUERITE P. KALEL

BREWER - Marguerite P. Kalel, 91, died April 1, 2003, at a Bangor healthcare center.

She was born Nov. 7, 1911, in Madison, the daughter of James and Henrietta (Trenton) McAree. Marguerite was a longtime resident of Brewer.

She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.

Surviving are one son, Thomas Kalel of California; one special niece, Mary P. Coleman of Brewer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Henrietta M. Foss, in 1995.

She will be remembered by a special friend, James Murray of Brewer.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, with the Rev. Joel R. Cyr, pastor of St. Teresa and St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiating.

Burial will take place later in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.

MARTHA JEANETTE MORRISON
GREENVILLE - Martha Jeanette Morrison, 70, died Jan. 16, 2001, in Greenville, after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Eastport, the daughter of John and Martha (Avery) Greenlaw. Martha attended the Church of the Open Bible and was loved by many special friends.

She is survived by four children and their spouses, Gray "Bump" and Robin Morrison Jr. of Greenville, Michael A. and Tamara Morrison of Charleston, Jennie Sue and her husband, William Darrah of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Matthew J. and his wife, Mariam Morrison, U.S. Army, Bosnia; one cherished granddaughter, Heather M. Morrison of Milo; three brothers, Gordon and his wife, Cala Greenlaw of Eastport and Bunnell, Fla., Calvin and his wife, Anna Lee Greenlaw of Eastport, John and Ruth Greenlaw of Eastport; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very special friend, Betty Jean Gray of Shirley. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Virginia Ohmeis and Gladys Carter.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at the Church of the Open Bible, with Pastor Steve Nute officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Shirley Cemetery. Donations in memory of Martha Morrison, may be made to the C.A. Dean Ambulance Fund, or the Missions Funds at the Church of the Open Bible. Arrangements by McCrory Funeral Home, Greenville.

WILLIAM BEVERLEY CLAY
GARLAND William Beverley Clay, 77, died January 16, 2001 at a Dexter healthcare facility. He was born July 2, 1923 at Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the son of Henry and Lenora (Jordan) Clay. He graduated from Detroit, Michigan schools and retired from Bangor Roofing & Sheet Metal Company. After retiring he was very active in Garland Community activities. He enjoyed all aspects of farming and was a student of the Natural world. In his earlier years, he was also an accomplished navigator and sailor. He will be remembered as a well-read man. He was a member of the Garland Historical Society and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He also actively Supported and wrote letters to congress supporting the NRA PAC: NRA-ILA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife Jacquelyn (Blanchard) Clay, he is survived by 5 sons, Stewart Clay of Kansas, Raymond and wife Jennifer Clay of Florida, William and wife Susan Clay of Dover-Foxcroft, B. David and wife Sonna Collins, Mark and wife Shirley Collins, all of FL; 3 daughters, Beverly Clay, and Deborah Nocenti, both of FL, Rebecca and husband John Linehan of Pennsylvania; 1 sister, Patsy and husband Al Grub of Michigan; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Monday, January 22nd, at the Garland Community Baptist Church, with the Revs. Barry Buzzell and James Bunn officiating. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Garland. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Garland Library, c/o Mrs. Mary Adams, P.O. Box 10, Garland, ME 04939.

MARY K. COSMO
NEWPORT & FAIRFIELD Mary K. Cosmo, 70, died January 18, 2001 at a Waterville hospital. She was born July 15, 1930 at Martha's Vineyard the daughter of Manuel and Adeline Rebello. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Cosmo, Sr.

Mary is survived by 2 sons, Anthony Cosmo, Jr. and wife Joanne of Newport, and Eric Ostman, Sr. of Taunton, MA; 2 daughters, Lee and husband Madison Alwardt of Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, and Sandra Cosmo of Osterville, MA; a brother, Anthony Rebello, Sr. and wife Marilyn of Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard; 6 grandchildren, Sherry Cosmo of Newport, Leif Ostman of Taunton, MA, Eric Ostman, Jr. of West Virginia, Elizabeth Ostman of Berkley, MA, Jason and Ryan Alwardt, both of Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard; 2 great grand-daughters, Morgan & Hope; and a niece Bernadette Crossland of Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard.

Burial will be in Cedar Knolls Cemetery, EastTaunton, MA. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport.

DOREEN (CROCE) RILEY
NEWPORT - Doreen (Croce) Riley, 42, died January 20, 2001 at her Route 7 residence after a 4 year battle with breast cancer. She was born October 24, 1958 at Pamona, California the daughter of William and Ethel (Segool) Croce. She had an associate’s degree in business management and was a Catholic. Prior to her illness, she and her husband had operated Newport House of Pizza.

She is survived by her husbandof 24 years, Ray T. Riley, Sr., her two children, Ray, Jr., Crystal Riley, and herfiancé Brian Singh, and their children, Matthew and Zachary Riley, all of Newport;7 brothers, Paul Wikoskie of Worcester, MA, William Croce, Skyler and Rachel Croce, all of Newport, Arthur and wife Joanne Croce, Donald and wife Carol Croce, Lorne and wife Paula Croce, all of Revere, MA, Wade and wife Mary Croce of Saugus, MA;3 sisters, Frances and husband Donald Farrar of Mercer, Linda and husband Darrel LaCroix of Plymouth, Terry and husband Frank Girroir of Pittsfield; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. Tuesday, January 23rd. Donations In her memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Breast Oncology Department, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115.

LUCY PHILBRICK (MERRITT) PEARSON
GUILFORD, Lucy Philbrick (Merritt) Pearson, 85, died peacefully January 24, 2001, at her home in Guilford. She was born June 8, 1915 in Dover, Delaware, daughter of David and Rosa O'Brien (Farnham) Merritt. At a young age the family returned to the Presque Isle area where she graduated from Presque Isle High School. As a young woman, she worked as a telephone operator in Augusta. She later worked at Hardwood Products Co in Guilford and then at the Guilford Woolen Mill for many years. She was a member of the Rebecca's and the Zephyrs Club of Guilford.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Pearson. She is survived by two sons and their wives, David and Robbin Pearson of Gardiner and Fredrick and Patty Pearson of Oregon; a daughter, Sally Sue Pearson of Guilford; a sister and her husband, Joyce and Rodney Black of Presque Isle; five grandchildren, Harry, Kristin, Jason, Hayley and John; and one great grandson, Cody; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Ray, Owen, and Thomson and three sisters, Nellie Merritt, Della Akeley and Lula Carter.

Friends may call 1-3 PM Friday, January 26, 2001, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Elmwood cemetery in Guilford. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to Carries Animal Shelter, 197 Charleston Road, Dexter, ME 04930.

IRVING M. PACKARD
CAMBRIDGE, Irving M. Packard, 88, died January 26, 2001 at a Dexter nursing home. He was born August 11, 1912 in Parkman, son of Arthur and Stella (Lander) Packard. He served in the US Army during WWII. After the service he worked as a mechanic, highway maintenance worker and wood cutter. He was a long time member of the Cambridge Grange. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He was predeceased by his wife, Winona (Holt) Packard in 1990. He is survived by three children and their spouses, Arthur and Gladys Packard of Cambridge, Martha and LeRoy Davis of Cambridge and Dwight and Darlene Packard of Ripley; two grandchildren, David Packard of St. Albans and Tanya Davis of California; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; a special friend, Arlene Anderson of Dexter.

Graveside Services will be held in the spring at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Cambridge. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.
