MARGUERITE M. CONNELL NOTTAGE

WEST FARMINGTON - Marguerite M. Connell Nottage of West Farmington, died June 2, 2003, in Bangor. The youngest daughter of James E. and Margaret L. (McCarthy) Connell, she was born on May 23, 1910, in Stoneham, Mass. Educated in the parochial and public schools of Stoneham, she graduated from Stoneham High School in 1928 and Salem Normal School in 1930. An influential teacher, she taught for several years in the Stoneham area schools, at times without pay during the Depression years, until her marriage to James A. Nottage in November 1936. The couple resided in West Farmington, where they raised four daughters. She continued teaching in the Farmington area schools from 1955 to 1975. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Beisaw of Wilton, Judith Nottage and husband, Norman Thurlow of Hampden, Shirley and husband, Tom Flynn of St. Clairsville, Ohio; six grandchildren, James Beisaw and wife, April of Ann Arbor, Mich., Michael Beisaw of Rumford, Stephen Beisaw of Wilton, Paul and Joe Flynn of St. Clairsville, Jennifer and husband, Anthony O'Hare of Washington, D.C.; great-grandchild, Ian O'Hare; nephew, James Coleman and wife, Gail of Stoneham; niece, Virginia Lovejoy of Dixfield; grandniece, Pat Fish of Bradley. She was predeceased by her husband, James; daughter, Marilyn Marshall; grandson, Lawrence Marshall of West Farmington; and two sisters, Bernice Coleman and Dorothy Connell of Stoneham. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Western Mountains Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington. Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to West Farmington Village Improvement Society Scholarship Fund, care of Martha Bessey, P.O., West Farmington, ME 04992.

THERESE B. MCCLUSKEY

HOULTON - Therese B. McCluskey, 74, died June 2, 2003, at Houlton. She was born on Sept. 7, 1928, in Stockholm, the daughter of George and Bertha (Dube) Pelletier. Therese was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was survived by three children, Linda McCluskey- Sinclair and her husband, Ric, of Hermon, Michael and his wife, Janice McCluskey, of Smyrna, Timothy and his wife, Linda McCluskey, of Hermon; seven grandchildren, Troy and his wife, Susan Porter, Amber and her husband, Matt Merrill, Matthew, Tyler, Andrew, Bradley and Quincie McCluskey, two great-grand-children, Lucas and Molly Porter; three sisters, Joyce Lovely of Fort Fairfield, Joanne Coleman of Youngstown, Ohio, Harriett Lawlor of Oakfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased her husband, Gerald in 2001; her parents; two brothers and one sister, Jack, Fern, and Wayne. A mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Houlton, with the Father Eddy Morin celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. A time of fellowship will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center immediately following. Arrangements by the Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.

NORMAN F. NADEAU

PALM BAY, FLA. - Norman F. Nadeau, 75, of Palm Bay, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla. He was born Feb. 15, 1928, in Van Buren, and had been a resident of Palm Bay since 1992, moving there from Coventry, Conn. Mr. Nadeau was a self-employed swimming pool installer in Connecticut for 30 years prior to retirement. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Palm Bay, Fla., and the American Legion of Palm Bay. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Renette Gagnon Nadeau of Palm Bay, Fla.; a son, Keith Nadeau of Coventry, Conn.; four daughters, Sabrina Nadeau of Bolton, Conn., Norma Dorsey of Coventry, Conn., Gail Platt of Manchester, Conn., and Kim McCullock of Andover, Conn.; two brothers, Robert Nadeau of Warehouse Point, Conn., and Ronald Nadeau of Coventry, Conn.; five sisters, Florence Nadeau of Bridgeport, Conn., Beatrice Pillion of Elmwood, Conn., Martha Metcalf of Somers, Conn., Sylvia Learnord of Monroe, Conn., and Gloria Doucette of Enfield, Conn., 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held at a later date at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Bolton, Conn. Inurnment will be at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay, Fla. Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, Palm Bay is in charge of arrangements.

EDITH M. PARSONS

DIXMONT - Edith M. Parsons, 83, went to be with the Lord June 2, 2003, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born in Troy, Aug. 17, 1919, the daughter of Charles B. and Helen R. (Hale) Cook. She was educated in Troy schools. Edith married Hillard S. Parsons on Sept. 7, 1935. Her beloved Hillard predeceased her on Sept. 29, 1997, after 62 years of marriage. She worked for 17 years for Penobscot Hatchery in Unity, retiring in 1986. Edith was a homemaker and loved providing a loving and caring home for her family. She loved to camp and fish while being with her family. She was a member of the Dixmont Senior Citizens. She attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Newport. She is survived by one son and his wife, Harlen and Gerry Parsons of Burnham; two daughters and their husbands, Ja-net and Maber Cronkite of Etna, and Joyce and Robert Long of Etna; one brother, Raymond Cook of Troy; one sister, Ethel Wren of Thondike; 14 grandchildren; 38 great- grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Harold; a grandson, Scott; and three brothers, Leon, Robert, and Roscoe. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at the Dixmont Corner cemetery with her son-in-law, Maber Cronkite and two grandsons officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport.

LILLIAN ROY

FRENCHVILLE - Lillian Roy, 87, wife of the late Romeo Roy, died peacefully surrounded by family at Ridgewood Estates in Madawaska. She was born in Frenchville, March 1, 1916, the daughter of Arthur and Anna Levesque and stepfather, Jos Bouchard. Lillian was influential in the lives of many. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. After her mother died in 1939, Lilly kept her promise to her mother and, along with the help of her husband, Romeo, cared and provided for her brothers and sisters. She raised two sons and helped Romeo with his plumbing and heating business. Later in life, Lilly became surrounded by grandchildren, eight in all, and played the role of a grandmother perfectly. She really attached herself to her grandchildren and as a result became a role model to all of them. Lilly was a proud individual who valued family and her faith. Even during her struggle with Alzheimer's, Lilly maintained her sense of dignity, humor, and kindness. She resided at Ridgewood Estates (formerly the Wisdom House) for a little more than four years and developed meaningful relationships with the individuals who provided her with outstanding care, attention, and comfort. She is survived by two sons, L. James Roy and his wife, Jacqueline and their family, Jennifer of Yarmouth, Julie and husband, Jeffrey and their son, Andrew of Key Biscayne, Fla., Jonathan and wife, Michelle and their son, Jacob of Frenchville, and Joshua of Frenchville, Robert Roy and his wife, Louise and their family, Aimee, Katie, Christine, and Rebecca, all of St. Agatha; nine brothers and sisters and their families, Lucien Bouchard and wife, Mariette of Frenchville, Claire Martin and late husband, Gerry, of Elkhart, Ind., Bernice Boutruczsk and late husband, Charlie, of Newington, Conn., Theresa Roy and late husband, Joseph, of Waterville, Roger Bouchard and late wife, Doris of Thomaston, Conn., Irene McDonald and late husband, Eddie of Newington, Conn., Claudette McNeil and husband, Jerry of Waterville, Paul Bouchard and wife, Joan, of Manchester, N.H. and Lucille O'Donnell of Scarborough. In addition to her husband and parents, Lilly was predeceased by two sisters, Lucille Levesque and Rolande Bouchard; and one brother, Rosaire Bouchard. Friends and relatives may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday, until time of service at the Michaud Funeral Home in Frenchville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, at the St. Luce Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Luce Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Ridgewood Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

RUTH F. SHAW

ETNA - Ruth F. Shaw, 83, died June 3, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1919, at Plymouth, the daughter of Gustavis and Josie (Meader) Hopkins. She graduated from Cony High School, Class of 1938. On May 5, 1939, she married Winfield E. Shaw, who predeceased her Jan. 15, 1988. She will be remembered for babysitting area children for many years. She also enjoyed quilting, camping and gardening. She is survived by a son, David and wife, Eileen Shaw, of Bristol, N.H.; two daughters, Ruth Elaine Tibbetts of St. Albans, Jane and husband, Michael McMorrow, of Newport; a sister, Lila Ludden of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Charlene Gray, Penney Metivier, Sue Alma, Sonja Fjeld, Christopher and Jenny Shaw; five great-grandchildren. There will be no visiting hours. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna. Memorial donations may be made to the Pittsfield Animal Shelter, R.R. No. 1, Box 3965, Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport.

RUTH PARKER STORRS

SHERMAN MILLS - Ruth Parker Storrs, 84, died June 1, 2003, at home. She was born Aug. 20, 1918, in Meriden, Conn. She is survived by Edwin B., her loving husband of 62 years; daughter, Susan P. Andrews and her husband, Gary, of Bozeman, Mont.; daughter, Candace McKellar and her husband, Donald, of Sherman Mills; three grandsons and families, Andrew and Carolyn McKellar of Pawleys Island, S.C. and son, Colin, Peter McKellar of Platte City, Mo., and Eric and Marisa Schongalla of Walnut Creek, Calif. She attended the Whittier Congregational Church and was a member of Molunkus Valley Chapter No. 95 of Eastern Star. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial remembrances to Whittier Congregational Church, Burleigh Street, Island Falls, ME 04747; First Parish Church, 9 Cleveland St., Brunswick, ME 04011; or to another charity. Funeral service will be held at a later date. Local arrangements are by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.

WILLIAM A. BAYLE JR.

BUCKSPORT - William A. Bayle Jr, 47, died June 2, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1956, in Taunton, Mass., the son of Florence (Lebrun) and William A. Bayle Sr. He was a member of the first graduating class of the Culinary Program at Newbury Junior College, Boston, Mass. He was employed by Sodexho since 1989, working in food service at Colby College, Waterville, and was currently the general manager of food service at Maine Maritime Academy, Castine. He served in the U.S. Army for three years in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. William is survived by his wife of 23 years, Holly L. (Shedrick) Bayle of Bucksport; his mother, Florence (Lebrun) Bayle of Attleboro, Mass.; brother, David Bayle of Saginaw, Texas; two nephews, Joshua Bayle and Adam Bayle, both of Saginaw, Texas; two aunts, Claire Verrier of Scarborough, Jean Barboza of Berkley, Mass.; mother-in-law, Jean Tassinari of Lakeville, Mass.; brother-in-law, James Shedrick of Dover, Del.; and many special friends. He was predeceased by his father, William A. Bayle Sr. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Richard Lembo, 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bucksport. Interment with military honors will be in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery, Bucksport.

ALLEN E. YOUNG

STEUBEN - Allen E. Young, 73, died peacefully at his home in Steuben, June 2, 2003. He was born April 11, 1930, at Gouldsboro, the son of Harold and Henrietta (Tracy) Young. Allen was known for his dedication to his community, he was an active member of the Steuben Volunteer Fire Dept. for more than 40 years and most recently served as the Town Fire Warden. Allen was also a founding member of the Petit Manan Ambulance Corp. and will be remembered by a great many EMTs as being his wife's teaching assistant. He had also served the town as road commissioner for several years. In recent years Allen had devoted a great deal of his time to the Gouldsboro United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee and could often be found serving at the church suppers. For many years Allen worked as a carpenter and craftsman. Years ago he had also enjoyed his work as a lobster and weir fisherman. Allen is survived by his wife of 39 years, Alice (Tracy) Young of Steuben; two children, Risteen Masters and her husband, Ronald, of Trenton and Carl Hicks of Franklin, N.H.; three grandchildren, Michael Lennox and his wife, Beth, of North Attleboro, Mass., Kelley Wright and her husband, Colby, and Kerrey Bogardus and her husband, Brandon, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Allyson Wright; one brother, Tracy Young and his wife, Frances; one sister, Eleanor Foss; one sister-in-law, Minnie Young, all of Gouldsboro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one son, William Hicks Jr. in 1977; one brother, Harold Young Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Elliot Foss. He will also be remembered by many friends including his cat, Cleo. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Gouldsboro United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, with Rev. Stephen Loan officiating. Following the service a memorial reception will be held at the Church Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Steuben Volunteer Fire Dept., care of Adelbert Pinkham, P.O. Box 103, Steuben, ME 04680 or the Gouldsboro United Methodist Church, care of Risteen Masters, 7 Morgan Way, Trenton, ME 04605. A memorial register is available on line at Legacy.com. WILLIAM R. MACNAMEE

COLUMBIA FALLS and HAVERTOWN, Pa. - William R. MacNamee, 95, died at a Machias hospital June 3, 2003, following a brief illness. He was born Sept. 28, 1907, in Princeton, N.J., the son of William B. and Stella (Rowland) MacNamee. He graduated form Princeton University in 1928, with a degree in physics and a graduate degree in electrical engineering. Further study qualified him in both mechanical and Hydraulic engineering. He then began work for Baldwin-Lima Hamilton in Chester, Pa. Bill met his wife Patricia while working on the Passamaquoddy Tidal Project in Eastport in 1936. After closure of the Quoddy Project, he returned to Baldwin-Lima Hamilton and became Chief Engineer until his retirement in 1972. During World War II he designed the steering system for LSTs. His work included power plant design on the dams on the Columbia and Snake Rivers as well dam projects in Greece and Japan. He was a member of the Llanerch Presbyterian Church. He continued living in Havertown, Pa., until moving to Columbia Falls in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia (Abbott) MacNamee of Columbia Falls; one son, Dr. Richard MacNamee of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; two daughters, Suzanne Fox and her husband, Raymond, of Columbia Falls and Linda MacNamee of Barcelona, Spain; three grandchildren, Sean Simmons and his wife, Leanne, of Springville, Pa., Billy and Kathy Fox of Columbia Falls; four great-grandchildren, Sean, Susan, Troy and Ryan Simmons; a special daughter-in-law, Betsy MacNamee of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; one brother, Stanley G. MacNamee and his wife, Barbara of Northport, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, R. Douglas MacNamee. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003, at the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bernard Brown officiating. Following the service his ashes will be interned at the Mailey Hill Cemetery, Columbia. A memorial reception will be held at the Columbia Falls community building following the services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia Falls United Methodist, care of Treasurer Clara Driscoll, P.O. Box 18, Columbia Falls, ME 04623. Arrangements are in care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge.

ELLSWORTH - Graveside services for Kenneth L. Bearse, who died Jan. 6, 2003, will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.

ABBOT - The time for the graveside committal service for Mary B. Brown, 72, who died April 8, 2003, is being changed to 3 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Abbot Village Cemetery.

This will be preceded by a Memorial service at 1 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Monson, with Rev. Ryan Henderson officiating.
