Geraldine M. Bennett
1999-01-21

Geraldine M. Bennett, age 79, of Deer Ridge Apartments, Wiscasset, died Tuesday, January 19 at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.

Born in Bath on January 31, 1919, she was the daughter of William Guy and Bertha Irene (Lakin) Payne.

Mrs. Bennett graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn, and lived in Vancouver, Washington before moving back to Bath where she worked at Bath Iron Works during World War II. She worked as a waitress all over the country before marrying Robert C. Bennett in 1965 and in 1972 they moved to Bath. Mrs. Bennett and her husband Robert moved to Wiscasset in 1984.

Mrs. Bennett enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and knitting.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert C. Bennett on March 18, 1993, and by her sister Leatrice B. Blackman on August 12, 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Harry E. Green of Wiscasset and Wesley G. DeCapua of Scarborough; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, Federal Street, Wiscasset. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 22 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Richard H. Hall of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Wiscasset officiating. Spring burial will follow in Union cemetery in Edgecomb.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

Theodore L. Bennett
1999-08-12

Theodore Lee Bennett, 57, of Edgecomb, died Sunday, August 8 at his residence.

Born in Edgecomb on November 23, 1941, he was the son of William Randall and Frances Fields (Reed) Bennett.

He attended Edgecomb and Wiscasset schools. Most of his early adult life he lived with Tom and Leila Hutchins and worked on their farm and delivered milk. On September 22, 1962, he married Sandra Giles. He worked for Rendall Hyson doing carpentry for several years. He worked at Edgecomb Wood Carver making lamps and various knick knacks for many years. He worked at Bath Iron Works as a tinsmith retiring in 1998. He was a constable for the Broadview in Wiscasset and the Wiscasset Speedway.

Mr. Bennett was a volunteer fire fighter for the Edgecomb Fire Department and a member of the Edgecomb Congregational Church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and building things.

Survivors include his mother of Edgecomb; his wife, Sandra G. Bennett of Edgecomb; three daughters, Elaine Wooster of Edgecomb, Mrs. Michael (Annette) Barter of Edgecomb, and Mrs. Isaac (Laurel) Petersen of Damariscotta; one brother, William ``Billy" Randall of Edgecomb; three sisters, Dorothy Cost of Edgecomb, Mrs. Paul (Judith) LaVway of Carmel and Mrs. Eric (Patricia) Longley of Brunswick; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Paul Bennett, in 1997; his son-in-law, James Victor Wooster, in 1993; and two brothers, Floyd Bennett and Ralph Bennett.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011. Arrangements are by Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal Street, Wiscasset.

Winfield H. Bennett

SOUTH PARIS Graveside services will be held for Winfield H. Bennett on Saturday, May 16 at 3 p.m. at the Riverside Annex Cemetery, South Paris. Arrangements are by Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, South Paris.

Richard B. Bennett, Jr.
1998-07-09

POLAND Richard B. Bennett, Jr., 33, of Page Road, Poland, died Tuesday, June 30,1998, at his home.

He was born in Lewiston on March 12,1965, the son of Richard and Charie Beaulieu Bennett, Sr. He attended schools in Mechanic Falls, Lewiston and Auburn. Richard had been employed at Androscoggin Dye Co. and had owned National Development Co. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He married Barbara Page on May 3,1986.

Survivors include his wife of Poland; two sons, Richard III and Michael, both of Poland; his parents, Harlan and Charie Barker of Norway; his in-laws, Dale and Bernice Page of Poland; two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Julie) Groves of Mechanic Falls and Laura Peters of Harrison; three brothers, Eric and his wife Patty Bennett of Naples, Harlan Barker II of Norway and Anthony and his wife, Trina, Cote of Waterford; paternal grandmother, Ellie Bennett of Auburn and maternal grandmother, Madolyn Beaulieu of Jay.

He was predeceased by his father Richard B.,Sr. and his grandfathers Wesley Bennett and Edward Beaulieu.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Mechanic Falls, Carlton Foster officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, West Poland. Bearers were Eric Bennett, Anthony Cote, Harlan Barker II,Wayne and Tim Page and Gabor Dancsak.

Mrs. Frances A. Bennett
1999-07-08

WEST PARIS - Frances A. (Wilson) Bennett, 95, of West Bethel, died Friday, July 2, 1999 at the Ledgeview Nursing Home, West Paris, where she had been a resident for a short time.

She was born in Shelburne, NH on February 13, 1904, the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Stearns) Wilson.

She attended schools in the Shelburne, NH area.

On June 9, 1923, she married Albert I. Bennett in Bethel; he predeceased her in 1970.

A homemaker, Mrs. Bennett resided in West Bethel for over 60 years, coming from Gilead.

In earlier years, she was active in the Sunday school and the Chapel Aid Society of the West Bethel Union Church.

She was a member of Pleasant Valley grange of West Bethel for over 55 years and was a member of the Bethel Senior Citizens.

She was a former member of the St. Barnabas Church in Berlin, NH.

Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Boyd, of West Bethel; a son and his wife, Donald and Joyce Bennett, of West Bethel, five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Margaret Hayes and Evelyn Arimbury, predeceased her.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 7 at the West Bethel Union Church. Interment was in the Pine Grove Cemetery, West Bethel.

Those who wish may make donations in the memory of Mrs. Bennett to the West Bethel Union Church, c/o Barbara Mahler, 14 Eden Lane, Bethel, ME 04217.

Arrangements were under the care of the Greenleaf Funeral Home, Bethel.

Mrs. Marion G. Bennett

SOUTHPARIS- Marion G. Bennett, 78, of South Paris died Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at her residence.

She was born in Buxton on February 25, 1921 the daughter of Henry and Ida F. Shortridge Brooks.

Mrs. Bennett was a housewife, she enjoyed volunteering at local nursing homes, was active in the grange, and was involved with the Alzheimer's Association.

She was a member of Saint Catherine's of Sienna Church of Norway.

She is survived by two sons; John of Walpole, MA, and Al of Oxford; a daughter; Barbara Tracy of South Paris; a sister; Phoebe Child of Norway, daughter-in-law; Debra Bennett of South Paris; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Winfield Bennett in 1998 and two sons, Ralph and Steven.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Catherine's of Sienna Church in Norway on Saturday, February 5, 2000 with Father Conley officiating.

Interment will be in the spring at Riverside Annex Cemetery, South Paris.

Donations in Mrs. Bennett's memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, South Paris.

Virginia S. Berry
1999-01-07

BRIDGTON - Virginia S Berry, 65, of Meadow Rd., Casco, died Tuesday, January 5 at the Bridgton Health Care Center.

She was born in South Paris, the daughter of Clifford Dawson and Charlotte Holton Cole Smith.

Mrs. Berry attended schools in South Paris and Westbrook.

In 1953 she graduated from Westbrook Junior College.

From 1956 until 1959 she worked at Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Boston.

She went on to work at B.E. Shoe Company in Norway from 1960 to 1965. In 1965 she married Bryant Berry

Mrs. Berry was a selectman in Casco for four terms, totaling 12 years.

She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and outings to Parker Pond,

Surviving are her husband, Bryant Berry of Casco; two sons,, Donald Osier of Pittsfield, MA; Brian Osier of Bath; her daughter, Lucy Jackson of Casco; a step-son, Wyatt Berry of Casco; three granddaughters and two grandsons.

Visiting hours will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home, Casco.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Casco Village Church. Internment will be at Green Grove Cemetery.

Dorothy C. Van Benschoten

Dorothy C. Van Benschoten

Dorothy Van Benschoten, 94, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Thursday, August 17 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Frederick Van Benschoten who died in 1986.

Born in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of James Craig, a marine engineer and avid yachtsman, and Emma Groff Craig. She graduated from Rosemary Hall School.

Mr. and Mrs. Benschoten owned and operated inns in the states and in the Caribbean, including, for many years, The Kingston Inn in Kingston, R.I. They were former seasonal residents of West Boothbay Harbor.

The Benschotens loved travel and together saw much of the world.

Survivors include her brother, Donald Craig of River Edge, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Mary Van Benschoten Stephens of Delray Beach, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private Interment is planned at Quidnessett Memorial cemetery in North Kingston, R.I.

Ada P. Benson
1998-08-06

Ada P. Benson, 80, of Bucknam Oaks, Mechanic Falls died Tuesday morning, July 28, 1998, at Stephens Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Buckfield on April 27,1918, the daughter of Willard and Myrtle Rowe Pearl. She graduated from Buckfield High School in 1936.

In 1939 she married Arthur (Bud) Benson and they raised their family in Mechanic Falls. In her `retirement' years she worked for Head Start. There are many young people in the Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland area who have benefited from her influence. For many years Mrs. Benson was an active member of the Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include her sons, Robert and his wife Judith of Gray, Arthur J. of Hampden, Michael and his wife Raette of Whiteside,TN; a daughter, Mary Ann Dexter and her husband Tom of Norridgewock; one brother Bernard Pearl; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mrs. Benson was predeceased by her husband in 1997 and a son, Douglas, in 1943.

Visiting hours were Thursday, July 30 at Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Mechanic Falls where a funeral was held on Friday. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanic Falls.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial gifts in her memory to Androscoggin Home Health, Hospice Program, Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME.
