Shirley P. Brewer
1999-03-11

Shirley Parker Brewer, 81, of Boothbay, died Thursday, March 4 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor due to his battle with cancer.

Born December 16, 1917 in Boothbay Harbor, he was the son of Parker A. and Carrie Bennett Brewer. He attended Boothbay Harbor schools.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Brewer worked as a lobsterman, plumber, night watchman and a carpenter. He built his own house which he had lived in the past 34 years.

Mr. Brewer enjoyed country music. He played his guitar and sang in country bands, sounding just like his favorite singer, Hank Williams Sr. He also enjoyed his flower gardens and working on his house.

On November 30, 1963, in Boothbay, he married Lona Jane Thomas Brewer.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Wallace and Junior Brewer.

Survivors include his wife, Lona Thomas Brewer of Boothbay; daughters, Tammy Ann and her husband Donald A. Cronk of Waldoboro, and Theresa Lee and her husband Wayne Clark of Brunswick; son, Kenneth P. and his wife Vikki Brewer of Newcastle; sisters, Annie Cleland of Boothbay, Barbara Russell of Boothbay, Nancy Long of Wiscasset, and Frances Abbott of Boothbay Harbor; seven grandchildren, Sierra and Trevor Neilson Cronk of Waldoboro, Jean and Connie Brewer and Sterling Brown Jr., all of Brunswick, and Parker and Anthony Brewer of Newcastle; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, Route 27, Boothbay. Memorial donations may be made to the Shirley Brewer Fund, P.O. Box 576, Boothbay, ME 04537. Arrangements are by Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, Boothbay.

Marie A. Boutin
2000-07-13

Marie Ange Boutin, 94, of Wiscasset, died Friday, July 7 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Born in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada on June 8, 1906, she was the daughter of George and Lumina (Therrien) Savard. She attended schools in Coaticook, Quebec.

In 1922 she married Gaudias Boutin in Island Pond, Vermont and he died on July 13, 1970. She lived in Berlin, N.H. for many years. In 1980 she moved to Wiscasset to live with her daughter, Lena Boucher, in Wiscasset.

Mrs. Boutin was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Berlin, N.H.

Survivors include four sons, Raymond Boutin of Oakville, Conn., Marcel Boutin of Florida, Maurice Boutin of Fitzwilliam, N.H., and Rene Boutin of Troy, N.H.; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Claire) Goulet of Berlin, N.H., Solange "Sally" Flynn of Naugatuck, Conn., and Mrs. Richard (Lena) Boucher of Wiscasset; one sister, Fernande Frappier of Sherbrook, Quebec; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; one son, Roger Boutin; one brother, Albert Savard; three sisters, Germain Savard, Fabiola Savard and Marie Lessard; and one grandson, Marcel F. Goulet.

Visiting hours were on Sunday, July 9 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home in Wiscasset. There will be no funeral services.

Adelaide Bowker

A memorial service for Adelaide Bowker, 95, of Bath, who died on December 26, 1997 will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 9 at United Church of Christ Congregational in Bath. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plant Memorial Home, 1 Washington Street, Bath or to the United Church of Christ Congregational, 150 Congress Avenue, Bath 04530. Arrangements are by Mayo, Curtis & Hill Funeral Home, 819 High Street. Bath.

Muriel Elizabeth Brackett
1999-08-12

PHOENIX. AZ - Muriel Elizabeth Brackett, 82, of Norway, died in Phoenix, AZ on July 31.

She was born in Norway, July 18, 1917, a daughter of George and Mildred Meader.

She graduated from Norway High School in 1935. She worked for a Norway lawyer for many years, then for the Oxford County Clerk of Courts until her retirement.

Her husband of 50 years, Edward E. Brackett, died in 1985.

She is survived by a son, Stephen A. Brackett; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all in Maine.

Memorial services will be held at the Deering Memorial United Methodist Church, Main Street, South Paris on Tuesday, August 17, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Muriel Brackett to your favorite charity, or to Deering Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 356, South Paris, ME 04281 or to Brackett Memorial United Methodist Church, 9 Church Street, Peaks Island, ME 04108.

Mrs. Frances Bradeen
1999-07-15

WEST PARIS - Frances Bradeen, 78, of West Paris died Sunday July 11, 1999, at the Ledgeview Nursing Home after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer.

She was born in Augusta on January 18, 1921 the daughter of Rhoden and Alice Pelton Bunker.

She was a graduate of Cony High School in 1940.

During WWII she worked as a timekeeper at Bath Iron Works. She had been a homemaker most of her life.

She was a member of the West Paris Universalist Church where she belonged to the Forward Fellowship Group.

Mrs. Bradeen was an avid beano player, liked crafts and enjoyed the Boston Red Sox. She also enjoyed and loved having her grandchildren visit.

She lived in the West Paris area all her life. She married Theodore Bradeen on June 15, 1946.

She is survived by her husband of West Paris; one son, Richard, of West Paris; two daughters, Linda Liimatta of West Paris and Eleanor Newell of South Woodstock; one brother, Herbert Bunker of Augusta; two sisters, Olga Ouellette of El Paso, TX, and Christine Swift of Augusta; five grandchildren, Eric and Saara Liimatta, Jason and James Bradeen, and Neil Thurlow; two step-grandchildren, Jason and Cass; two great-grandchildren, Mikko and Isaac Liimatta. She was predeceased by two brothers Calvin and Seldon.

Funeral services were held at Wednesday at the West Paris Universalist Church. Interment was in the Elmwood cemetery in East Sumner.

Donations in Mrs. Bradeen's memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Box 456 Brunswick, ME 04011.

Arrangements were under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, South Paris.

John E. Bradley
1999-12-09

John Ellison Bradley, 59, of Boothbay, died Friday, December 3 at his home with his family after an extended illness.

Born in Bath, he was the son of Melville Greenlaw and Flora Olivia Hunnewell Bradley.

For 25 years, he was a self-employed builder, building new homes in the mid-coast region.

Mr. Bradley learned the trade from his Uncle Charles Bryer of Needham, Mass. He worked long hours learning the trade in great detail from one of the finest builders in Massachusetts.

His skills were not limited to carpentry. He was a skilled mechanic, plumber, electrician and mason. For over 15 years he was a Mason in the Masonic Temple in Bath.

With his wife, he built his first two residences in Woolwich. His final residence, an impeccably restored cape, on Commercial Street in Boothbay Harbor, reflected a lifetime of knowledge and dedication to building.

His greatest love of all was his family. All of his lifelong efforts reflected his deep commitment to their well-being.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Bradley; two daughters, Elaine Bradley of Bath, and Lindsay Bradley of Boothbay Harbor; one son, Bruce Bradley of Framingham, Mass.; one brother, Edgar Bradley of North Windham, Conn.; one sister, Gert Baker of Woolwich; one aunt, Edna Giles of Boothbay; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life was held on Wednesday, December 8 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home in Boothbay.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the UMass. Memorial Fund.

Norinne Bryant Bradley
1999-06-03

SOUTH PARIS - Norinne Bryant Bradley, 87, formerly of Daytona Beach, FL died Friday May 28, 1999, at the Market Square Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Newry on June 17, 1911 the daughter of James W. Bryant and Sara Jane Brooks.

She graduated from Paris High School in 1932 and later Glen Cove School of Nursing in Glen Cove, NY.

She was the widow of Constantine Balocca who died in 1964 and Thomas Bradley who died in 1974.

She was an LPN working at Holy Hill Hospital in Holy Hill, FL for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Episcopal Church of South Daytona, FL. She lived in Daytona Beach, Fl for over 30 years.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Loretta Spita of Kennebunk, Jack Meserve of Pembroke, MA, Lee Wyman of Concord, NH, Michael Bryant of Patchogue, NY, and Carlene Henderson of Oldsmar, FL.

There will be a graveside memorial service on Saturday, June 5, at 3 p.m. in the Bryant Pond cemetery on Route 26 with Rev. Norman Rust officiating. Arrangemnts are under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway.

Claude A. Bransford
1999-12-09

Former Boothbay town manager Claude "Bud" Allen Bransford, 90, died Sunday, November 28 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.

Born in Hinton, West Virginia, he was a son of John H. and Grace Bransford.

On July 23, 1933 in Dalton, Mass., he married S. Elizabeth Crowther Bransford.

From 1959 to 1964 he was town manager of Boothbay, and from 1964 to 1969 he was town manager of Skowhegan. He then was assistant superintendent of schools and administrator of Redington-Fairview General Hospital, retiring in 1974.

Mr. Bransford was a past member of Skowhegan Rotary, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Skowhegan Federated Church and was a Mason.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Sarah) Irons of Orono and Mrs. Richard (Claudia) Slocomb of Harrison; three grandsons, Michael, Kevin and Alex; and one great-granddaughter.

A funeral service was held Saturday, December 4 at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 261 Madison Avenue, Skowhegan, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.

Carleton R. Brewer
1998-11-12

Carleton R. Brewer, 64, of Portland, died Monday, November 9 at the Barron Center.

Born in Boothbay Harbor, he was the son of Melvin and Rilla Mansell Brewer.

Mr. Brewer was employed at Sears for many years as a delivery truck driver, then was self- employed as a TV repairman.

He enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets, and playing Beano.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Aline Roy Brewer, three sons, three daughters, a stepdaughter, a brother, two sisters, and six grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 12 at the Hay and Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress Street in Portland, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 13. Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
