Margaret H. Campbell
1999-12-30

Margaret Helen (Landry) Campbell died at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass. on Tuesday, December 28.

She graduated from Newton High School, Framingham Normal School, and a master's in Special Education from Boston University.

Mrs. Campbell was a Special Education teacher at Waltham High School and also taught in the Newton schools in Massachusetts. She was an active member of the Teachers Association Drama and Performing Arts Society until her retirement, and often appeared as "Shirley Temple" in many of their productions.

During her retirement in Florida, she was a avid golfer, bridge player and enjoyed taking cruises.

She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, James Reynolds Sr. in 1984.

Survivors include her children, James R. Campbell Jr. of Drexel Hills, Penn., his wife Roberta and their two children; Richard B. Campbell of Trevett, and his wife E. Janet; her daughters, Patricia H. Heinrich (Mrs. Stanley) of Merrimack, N.H. and their five children; Jean A. Costa (Mrs. Robert) of Concord, Mass., and their two children; Susan J. Ryan (Mrs. Maurice) of Concord, Mass., and their three children; and Barbara Campbell Harvey of Boothbay and her daughter Abbigail, who also shared her grandmother's birthday. Although her children and grandchildren were the focus of her life, she also helped raise many relatives in her extended family.

Private family services will be held in Concord, Mass., on December 30 following the cremation.

In lieu of flowers, the family supports her interests in Antique Auto Days at the Boothbay Railway Village and the Boothbay Region High School Performing Arts auditorium.

Vivian Lorenzen Carey

EASTPOLAND- Vivian Lorenzen Carey, 39, of Oxford and Lynn, MA died March 2, 2000 in Lynn, MA. Spring committal services will be held Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m. in the Highland cemetery in East Poland. Rev. Melvin Young will be officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, South Paris.

Ruth E. Carolan
2000-04-13

Ruth E. Carolan, 77, of Boothbay Harbor, formerly of Wiscasset, died Monday, April 10 at St. Andrews Hospital.

Born in Wiscasset on March 20, 1923, she was the daughter of Clarence I. and Alma (Merrill) Dickinson.

She attended Wiscasset Schools and on November 9, 1938 she married Lawrence "Legs" F. Carolan. She worked as a waitress at various Wiscasset restaurants for many years. She was employed at the Maine Shoe Company in Brunswick for five years and by Health Tex in Brunswick for 15 years, retiring in April of 1985.

Mrs. Carolan was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Boothbay Harbor.

She was predeceased by her husband "Legs" F. Carolan on July 15, 1997. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Belinda) Campbell of Boothbay Harbor; one brother, Merrill Dickinson of Bath; two granddaughters, Melanie Barter and Aleigha Campbell, both of Boothbay Harbor; one great-granddaughter, Chanel Stoddard of Boothbay Harbor; future grandson-in-law, Troy Joslyn of Windsor; several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal Street in Wiscasset. A graveside service will be held in Greenlawn cemetery in Wiscasset at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service, 11 Howard Street, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.

Ruth E. Carolan

Ruth E. Carolan Graveside Service

A graveside service for Ruth E. Carolan, who died April 10, 2000, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 9 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wiscasset. Arrangements are by Mayo and Daigle Funeral Home in Wiscasset.

Joyce I. Caron
1998-12-10

SOUTH PARIS - Joyce I. Caron, 60, of Oxford died Saturday, December 5, 1998, at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris.

She was born in Providence, RI on June 11, 1938, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Hawkins) Mimande, and was educated in Graniteville, RI schools.

She worked for many years in the textile industry in Rhode Island, also as a nurse's aide, and at the Norway Laundry. Mostly recently she worked for Mecon Manufacturing in Oxford.

On November 26, 1959 she married Robert L. Caron who died in 1989.

She is survived by one son, Robert Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Linda of Oxford; two daughters, Mrs. David (Theresa) Crooker, Judy Cummings and Joseph Bushey, all of Oxford; three grandchildren: Melissa Crooker, Shauna Cummings and Alexis Caron, all of Oxford; two brothers, Raymond A. and Charles H. Mimande of Oxford; one sister, Audrey Lutz of Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews. A granddaughter, Amanda Scribner, predeceased her.

A memorial service was held December 9 at the Oxford Congregational Church. Interment was at the Riverside cemetery in Oxford. Donations in Mrs. Caron's memory may be sent to either the American Cancer Society, Box 456, Brunswick, ME 04011.

Arrangements under the direction of the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 230 Main St., Norway.

Rose B. Carpenter
1998-05-28

WINTHROP Rose B. Carpenter, 85, of Mechanic Falls died Friday morning, May 22, 1998, at Nicholson's Nursing Home in Winthrop.

She was born in East Machias on August 3,1912, the daughter of Arthur and Cora Kingsley Berry. She graduated from Washington Academy in East Machias. She worked in the sardine factories downeast and 18 years at Continental Mills in Lewiston and, with her husband, operated an antique business.

She was a member of the Mechanic Falls Methodist Church, Floyd-Harlow VFW Auxiliary #9787, Tri-Town Senior Citizens, Colfax Rebekah Lodge #27, Oxford Grange #46, Pomona State and National Granges. She married George W. Carpenter in 1960; he died in 1980.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Joan Rice, of Winthrop; two sisters, Adelaide Rhodes of Harrisburg,PA and Barbara Robinson of Machiasport; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 26 West Dwinal Street, Mechanic Falls with Interment in Stewart's Corner Cemetery, Bolster Mills.

Dorothea C. Carr
1999-09-16

Dorothea Cashman Carr, 96, formerly of Holden, Massachusetts, died Monday, September 13th at the Gregory Wing of St. Andrews Hospital, Boothbay Harbor. She was the widow of F. Benjamin Carr, M.D., of Holden.

She is survived by two sons: Calvin Carr of Boothbay, F. Benjamin Carr, Jr., of Bustins Island, South Freeport, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Holden at the convenience of the family. Friends may make memorial contributions to the Gregory Wing of St. Andrews Hospital, 6 St. Andrews Lane, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 or to the American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate, P.O. Box 346, Augusta, ME 04330-0346. Arrangements are under the direction of Simmons, Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, Boothbay.

Daniel Carter
1999-08-19

Daniel Carter, 44, of Brunswick, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 10 at his home.

Born in Boothbay Harbor on March 31, 1955, he was the son of Carolyn Carter Brewer of Brunswick and the late Robert Carter.

Mr. Carter was employed by Sears for 18 years and later was a self-employed contractor.

After enjoying his family, he enjoyed playing his guitar, composing music and poetry and riding free on his Harley. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed life.

Survivors include his mother, Carolyn of Brunswick; a son, Shad R. Carter of Woolwich; a daughter, Tymbre H. Carter of Woolwich; his wife, Terry Carter of Brunswick; stepsons, Taylor, Joey and Alex Clavette of Brunswick and Jason Willey of Topsham; brothers, Arthur Carter of Boothbay Harbor and Brian Carter of Richmond; uncle, Robert B. Rice of Boothbay Harbor; a niece, Michelle Carter of Topsham; a nephew, Matthew Carter of Richmond; and many close and loyal friends.

A funeral was held Tuesday, August 17 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, Boothbay. The Rev. Robert Dorr officiated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home.

Hartwell D. Carter
1999-10-21

Hartwell DeLancy Carter, 80, of Bremen, was found dead at his home on Monday, October 18.

The son of Thomas Poland and Regina Collamore Carter, he moved from Bremen to Waldoboro at the age of four. He attended grade school in Bremen and high school in Waldoboro.

After high school he joined the Army and spent most of his four-year enlistment in Europe and Iceland. He was en route to Europe after the Battle of the Bulge when the war ended.

In 1945, he returned to Bremen and married the former Laura Murphy on Christmas Eve.

Mr. Carter worked on the fishing boats Mary Ann and Jacob Pike. He also worked at Sonny Hodgdon Shipyard, East Boothbay, and later at Gamage's Boatyard, South Bristol.

He enjoyed doing fine woodworking on the Appledore and other boats and also as a hobby at home. He was a gardener and was active in local organizations. He was a lifetime member of the King Solomon Masonic Lodge and the Waldoboro American Legion, commander of the Waldoboro Veterans of Foreign Wars post, and president of the Evergreen cemetery Association. He also called Beano games at the VFW and the American Legion. He was a member of the Bremen Union Church.

Mr. Carter was predeceased by his wife in 1987.

Survivors include one son, Joel of Lancaster, N.H.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Lorraine) Simpson of San Diego, and Mrs. Stephen (Janet) Chase of Bristol; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro on Friday, October 22, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 23 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Medomak.

Priscilla L. Campbell
2000-02-17

Priscilla Lewis Campbell, age 88, of Wiscasset, died Friday, February 11 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

Born in Bath on January 15, 1912, she graduated from Wiscasset Academy in 1929 and on December 25, 1932 she married Harold A. Campbell. She was employed by the town of Wiscasset as a secretary to the board of selectmen and also served as town treasurer for several years.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset and the Wiscasset Female Charitable Society.

She was a devoted mother and wife.

On March 15, 1977 she was predeceased by her husband Harold A. Campbell. Survivors include two sons, Leigh P. Campbell and Terrance L. Campbell, both of Wiscasset; one daughter-in-law, Paula D. Campbell of Haverhill, Mass.; two grandchildren, Molly Campbell of Boston, Mass., and Heather Campbell Hess of Bradford, Mass.; three nieces; and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Campbell Prize Fund, c/o Wiscasset High School, Wiscasset, ME 04578.

Arrangements are by Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home in Wiscasset.

Ann P. Caney
1998-09-03

Ann Pomerleau Caney, wife of Captain Lawrence D. Caney, USN, (Ret.), died August 30, 1998, of complications following a stroke, at the Mid-Coast Hospital, Brunswick. She was 78.

She was born in Gardiner, June 19, 1920, the daughter of Eugene and Madeline (Faulkner) Pomerleau. She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1938, and worked for several years as the Gardiner reporter for the Kennebec Journal.

In 1943 she married Lawrence D. Caney, a high school classmate, and also of Gardiner. For the next 40 years she lived with her husband in various ports on the East, West, and Gulf Coasts of this country; in Washington, D.C. and in the Middle East and Europe. Following Captain Caney's retirement from active duty in 1981, they returned to Maine and bought a home in Wiscasset where they have lived since, traveling occasionally.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years; two sons, Lawrence Jr. and John, Both of Valley Center, California, and a daughter, Ellen Caney Mugg of Mooresville, North Carolina, several nieces and nephews.

According to Mrs. Caney's wishes there will be no funeral service. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Sept. 5, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine, 04345, followed by a reception at St. Joseph's Hall in Gardiner.
