Ethel M. Fisette
2002-02-28

Ethel Mae Fisette, 98, of Boothbay Harbor, died on Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro.

She grew up on Marsh Island and rowed across to Louds Island to go to school. She worked in the sardine factories in Rockland, button factory in Waldoboro, and also worked as a waitress at the Klondike Hotel.

Mrs. Fisette lived with her second husband, Joseph Ernest Fisette, who was the engineer at the fish hatchery on McKown Point, now Bigelow Lab.

She was always active and loved to dance.

Since 1943, she was a member of the Isaac M. Giles, V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Her first husband, Hiram Morton and second husband, Joseph Ernest Fisette, and her son, Nolan Morton predeceased her.

Survivors include one son, Orman Morton of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister, Yolanda Elwell of Warren; several grandchildren; great-grand-children; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held this summer. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery in Boothbay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fieldcrest Manor, Waldoboro, ME 04572 or the Knights of Pythias, Middle Road, Boothbay, ME 04537.

Arrangements are under the direction of Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home of Boothbay.

Margo Lee Flint dies at 57
2001-05-18

Margo Lee Flint, 57, of Gray, died Sunday.

She was born in Marlone, New York, the daughter of Louis and Nancy Adelaide Webb Farrell. She graduated from Portland High School and Pierre's School of Beauty.

Mrs. Flint worked for many years at Nancy's Beauty Salon, a family-owned beauty salon, which she took over when her mother retired. Recently she worked for Maine Medical Center and operated her own business, " Memories of Yesterday". She enjoyed photography, crafts and family gatherings, and was a devoted mother and sister. She is the great-granddaughter of Mildred Webb, who took care of the Unknown Soldier's Grave in Gray Village Cemetery.

Surviving is one son, Craig S. Flint, of Gray; a brother, David E. Farrell, of Westbrook; a sister, Sharon A. Stanley, of Portland; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was on Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray, and a graveside service was held on Thursday in Gray Village Cemetery. Arrangements were by Wilson Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, Maine 04011.

Raymond Flynn, M.D.
2001-10-04

Raymond M. Flynn, M.D., 77, of Boxford, Mass., former chief of Radiology at Malden Hospital, died at his home Friday evening, September 21, after a long illness.

Born in Melrose, Mass., he was the son of the late T. Raymond and Anna M. Flynn. He had been a resident of Boxford for 45 years, and had summered in the Boothbay region for 40 years.

Dr. Flynn was a magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University and graduated from Tufts Medical School in 1952.

During World War II he served in the Army as a medic at the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a former teaching fellow at Harvard University and an associate professor at Boston University. At the time of his retirement, Dr. Flynn was with the Malden Radiology Associates.

He was a member of the Boxford V.F.W. Post #10257.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Judith E. (Evans) Flynn; two sons, R. Marshall Flynn of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Bryan M. Flynn of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Anna Mae Graf of Melrose; four nephews and a niece.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday September 26 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Topsfield, Mass. Burial services are private.

Arrangements were by the Lee, Moody and Russell Funeral Home in Beverly, Mass.

Grace I. Fodera
2004-07-15

Grace I. Fodera, 77, a resident of Louis Ln., and active member in the Southport community, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor after a long illness.

Mrs. Fodera was born Oct. 26, 1926 in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Francis T. and Isabelle Harvey Gunn Smith, and was a graduate of Two Harbors High School in Two Harbors, Minn.

As a military wife, she lived throughout the United States. Her first husband, Louis Climo, was stationed at the Brunswick Naval Air Station, and they resided in Bowdoinham, where she was active on the school board. After his retirement, they moved to Southport, where they operated the Climo Island Store for 17 years, the last two years with her second husband Joe Fodera. She also served as a bookkeeper for several businesses over the years.

Active in politics at the local, state and national level, she was an active member of the Southport community, serving the town as a selectman for seven years, then as a planning board member for many years, and the cemetery committee until last year, when she resigned due to her failing health.

Mrs. Fodera was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Newcastle.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Climo, who died in 1983, and a son Reid B. Climo, who died in 1990.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Fodera, of Southport; a son, Smith Climo and wife Donna of Southport; a daughter Leslie McAllister and husband Raymond of Oxford; a stepson Vincent R. Fodera of Plainview, N.Y., and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, July 14 at St. Patrick's Church, Newcastle, with Rev. Raymond Picard as celebrant.

A celebration of Mrs. Fodera's life will be held at a later date and announced by the funeral home.

Arrangements are entrusted to Simmons Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, Boothbay.

Frank A. Fodera
2003-10-02

Frank A. Fodera of Ivins, Utah, formerly from Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y., died Sunday, September 21 at the Ted Warthen Center, St. George, Utah, With him at the time of his death were his daughter, Linda and his son, James.

Born May 30, 1913 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Vincenzo and Vita Gidia Fodera.

In 1947 he married Helen. They settled in Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y., where they raised their family.

"Boats" as he was always known to his brother Joe, enlisted in the United States Navy in 1940, and in 1946 he was honorably discharged.

During his career, he participated in the Murmansk, Russia Run Across the North Atlantic before the U.S. officially entered World War II. He was involved in the North African campaign, the invasion of Sicily, Italy and the landings on Normandy, France.

As a civilian, he was employed by Grumman Corporation of Bethpage, Long Island, N.Y. After retiring from Grumman, he relocated in California to join daughter Linda and later to Utah.

Predeceased by his wife Helen in 2002, and his sister Josephine in 2001, Mr. Fodera is survived by his daughter, Linda Hines of Ivins, Utah; his son, James Fodera of Pittsburg, Penn.; his brother, John Fedora of Old Bridge, N.J.; his sister, Sarah Bell of Miami, Fla.; his brother, Joseph and wife, Grace Fodera of Southport; nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

There will be a mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Friday, October 3 at St. Patrick's Church in Newcastle at 11 a.m. Father Raymond Picard will officiate.

Mr. Fodera requested that his ashes be scattered at sea. This will happen sometime following the church service.

Arrangements are by Simmons, Harrington and Hall Funeral Home of Boothbay.

Pauline Foye
2003-02-27

Pauline Foye, 81, of Dover, N.H. died Saturday, Feb. 15 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, after a period of failing health.

Born on February 9, 1922, in Burlington, Vt., she was the daughter of Arthur J. and Delvina (Schneider) Dorey. Her family lived in Augusta, Maine, for many years when she was a child.

She was a member of the Bethel Church of Portsmouth.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Donald C. Foye Sr. of Dover, N.H.; eight children, Judith A. Gosselin of Boothbay Harbor, Lenny Jean Fairchild of Rumford, Donald C. Foye Jr. of Stoughton, Mass., Leonard A. Foye Sr. of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Patrick J. Foye of Eliot, Michael J. Foye of Portsmouth, N.H., Brian G. Foye of Charleston, S.C., and Mary Jane Fillebrown of Tenants Harbor; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Annette Gannon of Covina, Calif.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Paul and Robert Dorey.

Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover, at a later date.

Marjorie Fralich

Marge Fralich, August 16, 1926-May 2, 2004, mother of Michael and Deb Fralich of New Gloucester and Terry Fralich of Saco, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, after a long battle with emphysema.

She lived a life filled with travel, family and great courage. She died a peaceful and dignified death. There will be a memorial service for her at the New Gloucester Congregational Church on Sunday May 8 at 2 P.M.

Joan C. Franzen
2003-11-20

Joan Cummings Franzen, 80, died at her summer home in Skowhegan on Thursday, Nov. 13 after a long illness.

Born in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 9, 1923, she was the daughter of Willard and Helen (Warren) Cummings. She grew up in Skowhegan, attended Bennington College in Bennington, Vt. and in 1942 married Ulrich Franzen at the South Solon Meeting House in South Solon. (The Franzens divorced in 1962.)

Mrs. Franzen was involved with the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in many capacities; as a trustee from 1969 to 1986, and as a Director from 1975 to 1979. The South Solon Meeting House had also been a major interest of hers for many years. She had been a major force in its upkeep, maintenance, support and preservation.

In later years she bought a winter home in Bristol, where she was active in development and support of Round Top Center for the Arts.

Joan is survived by her three children, Peter Franzen of Los Angeles, Calif., David Franzen of Kailua, Hawaii, and April Franzen of East Boothbay; her sister, Muriel Palmer of Bennington, Vt.; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service was held at the South Solon Meeting House on Tues., Nov. 18.

Donations may be made in Joan's memory to the Round Top Center for the Arts, Business Route 1, Damriscotta, ME 04543 or to the South Solon Meeting House, P.O. Box 326, Skowhegan, ME 04976.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, ME 04976.
