Mrs. Margaret J. Wheeler

BETHEL - Mrs. Margaret J. Wheeler, 67, died Monday, November 26, 2001, at her home in Bethel, following a long illness.
Born in Framingham, MA, on April 20, 1934, she was the daughter of Irwin L. and Barbara Davis Potter. She was a graduate of Berlin High school in the class of 1952.
Very active in volunteer work, she was a member of Our Lady of The Snow in Bethel, the Bethel Historical Society, past president of the Eleanor Gordon Guild, the Stark Grange and the 4-H . She was a teacher's aid for special programs, ran a day care, and was first and foremost a homemaker, having raised nine children. She enjoyed needlepoint, drawing, reading, and gardening.
She married Thomas J. Wheeler on November 15, 1952. He survives her and lives in Bethel. Also surviving are four sons, Kenneth Wheeler, James Wheeler of Richmond, VA, Thomas Wheeler of Kingsport, TN and Joseph Wheeler of Bethel; five daughters, Jan McKenzie of Simsbury. CN, Margaret Troup of Biddeford, Bridget Gehrling of Oakland, Karen Wheeler of Stateline, NV and Jacquilynn Wheeler of Bethel, eight grandchildren and two sisters, Patricia Meserve of Cape Canaveral, FL and Barbara Barbieri of Berlin, NH
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, November 28, at Our Lady Of the Snow in Bethel. Burial followed the service at the Riverside Cemetery in Bethel.
Those who wish may make contributions in Mrs. Wheeler's memory to Our Lady of The Snow, Bethel.

Mr. Lars Sven Thermaenius

NORWAY - Lars Sven Thermaenius, 61, of North Norway, died January 24, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family and close friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
He fought well, but lost. Lars was born in Solna, Sweden on October 21, 1940, the son of Sven and Essie Huylen Thermaenius. He came to this country in the late 1960's. He harvested wood in the Douglas Fir forests of Oregon before moving on to the east coast and eventually to Maine. He found employment with R. K. Brown as his paving supervisor and then with Cianbro Corp. for a brief time, until he started his own corporation, Lars T. Ltd. Paving of Norway in 1978, which continues.
Mr. Thermaenius was a past member of the Rotary International, and was also on the Norway road commission board, and was active in many civic endeavors, contributing many hours of time and equipment to their causes. He was a champion of animal rights and gave shelter to many. He enjoyed skiing, skating, tennis, fishing, was an accomplished jazz pianist and appeared in a few Swedish movies in his earlier years with his father, Sven, as director.
Mr. Thermaenius is survived by his wife, Caroline, of North Norway; a brother, Lennart, of Sweden; a daughter, Kristina, of Mass.; his devoted stepchildren, Kyle Andrews of Norway, Claudia Whitford of Virginia, Craig Myers of California, and Rick Myers of Lake Bluff, Il.; and 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents of Sweden and a brother, Bjorn.
A memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, at the First Congregational Church of South Paris with Rev. Don Mayberry officiating. A private interment of ashes will be held in the the family plot in the summer. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to may send a donation in his memory to the Doberman Rescue League, P. O. Box 1911, Rochester, N.H. 03866-1911.

Mrs. Harlan 'Stan' Andrews

BRYANT POND - Harlan "Stan" Andrews, 88, of Bryant Pond, died April 1, 2002 at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
Born June 28, 1913, in South Woodstock, he was the son of Harlan M. and Jessie (Jackson) Andrews. He was educated in local schools, graduating from West Paris High School class of 1931. He had attended New England Institute of Sanitary Science and Embalming and the Maine School of Commerce.
He worked as a sixth generation funeral director at Andrews Funeral Home, owned and operated Cole's Hardware Store in Bryant Pond for nine years, was foreman at Mann's Clothes Pin Mill in Bryant Pond for several years, was a self employed carpenter (he helped build the Andrews Funeral Home) and later worked at Brooks Bros. until his retirement.
He was a member of the Jefferson Lodge 89 AF & AM, Jefferson Chapter OES 89 , a charter member of the Hillsman Barbershop Chorus, a charter member of the Parisian Orchestra and a member of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A in Maine and Florida. He enjoyed anything to do with trains. He spent many hours working on his model trains and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Maine National Guard during WWII.
He married Alura Packard in 1932 and divorced in 1946. He married Gertrude Mann in 1947. She died on June 16, 1997.
Mr. Andrews is survived by four daughters, Muriel Croteau and her husband, Robert, of Sumner and Florida; Elinor Andrews of Bryant Pond; Bethany Blake and her husband, Douglas, of Norway and Mary Ellan Hadley and her husband, Lonnie, of West. Paris; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Linwood "Pete" Andrews of South Woodstock. He was predeceased by two sons, James and Ormand, and one sister, Marguerite.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Nancy Laughton for the care she gave to Mr. Andrews, allowing him to stay home for the last two years.
Relatives and friends called at the Andrews Funeral Home, South Woodstock on Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Universalist Church in West Paris. Burial will be in the Wayside Cemetery, West Paris.
Memorials in his memory may be made to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, Maine 04240 or to the Tri-Town Rescue, West Paris.

Mr. Allen C. Scott

LEESBURG, FL - Allen C. Scott, 84, of Leesburg, FL died May 23, at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Scott was born in Suffield, CT and moved from Maine to Florida in 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Fuller of Colorado Springs, CO; sons, Jeffrey Scott of Enfield, CT and David Scott of Windsor Locks, CT; a sister, Scottie Graves of Suffield, CT and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Phyllis G. DeCoster

HARTFORD - Phyllis G. DeCoster, 82, of Bear Mountain Road, died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at her home. She was born in West Poland on January 2, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Nellie Hill Tripp. She attended Poland schools and graduated from Mechanic Falls High School.
Mrs. DeCoster worked at local shoe shops and retired in 1964. She attended the Hartford Community Church and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening. She married the late Wilder DeCoster, Jr on July 2, 1966. He died October 18, 1999.
Mrs. DeCoster is survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, July 30 at the Highland Cemetery, West Poland.
Donations can be made in her memory to the American Lung Assoc. of Maine, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

Miss. Karen Lee Hebert

CHELSEA - Karen Lee Hebert, 48, of Chelsea, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2002.
She was born in Jackman on March 23, 1954, the daughter of Alfred Hebert Sr. and Margaret Newell Hebert. She attended the Pineland Training Center in Pownal and spent the last 10 years of her life in her home in Chelsea.
She is survived by Carol Rideout and Vicky St. Amand who lovingly cared for her; her siblings, Alfred Hebert Jr, Sheila Hebert Boyce, Michael Hebert, Gloria Hebert Gilman, Alexander Ryan Cole, Penny Hebert Sadler, Timothy Hebert, Paula Hebert, Wanda Landry and Patricia Chambers; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred Hebert Sr and Margaret Hebert Wilson.
There will be Memorial services in Chelsea for family and close friends.

Mrs. Irene O. Mayberry

POLAND - Irene O. Mayberry, 78, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at the Maine Veterans' Home in South Paris following a long illness.
She had been a resident of Poland most of her life.
Born in Oxford on April 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Smith) Bressette, Sr.
She attended the Bridgton High School and worked in local shoe shops, retiring from Marcal Paper Co. in Mechanic Falls from the packing department in 1975.
She enjoyed family outings and loved her pets and working in her flower garden.
She was married to John A. Tarashuck who died in Otisfield in 1950, and was later married in South Paris, to the late Raymond W. Mayberry, Sr. who died in Poland in 1987.
Mrs. Mayberry came from a family of 14 and is survived by three daughters, Ana Stacia Francis of Canton, Cynthia Mayberry of South Paris and Diana Parmeter of Gorham; four sons, John Tarashuck of Clinton, MA, Raymond Mayberry, Jr. of New Jersey, Steve Mayberry of West Virginia, and Timothy Mayberry of Poland; three sisters, Margaret Winship, Edna Davis, and Jessie Grandmaisson; three brothers, Louis, Robert and Ira Bressette and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three children Mary Ann and Helen Tarashuck and Michael Mayberry; three sisters, Geneva Weymouth, Helen Letourneau and Barbara Smith and four brothers, Edward, Frank, Roger and Kenneth Bressette.
A funeral was held Tuesday at the First Congregational Church, South Paris with Rev. Donald Mayberry officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanic Falls
Donations in her memory may be made to the Maine Veterans' Home, 477 High St., So. Paris, Me. 04281 where they took good care of her for the last three years.

Mr. Michael Gregory Casper

BRYANT POND - Michael Gregory Casper, of Bryant Pond, died at the Maine Veterans' Home in South Paris on March 28, 2003 after a long illness.
He was born in Bangor November 15, 1915, the son of Joseph Gregory and Dorothy Ann Casper. He graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School, one year of Postgraduate at Leavitt Institute and attended Springfield College in Alabama. Michael served his country for six years in the Air Force during WWII in Africa and Italy, being discharged as a master sergeant.
He worked at Northeast Airlines at Bangor, which merged with Delta Airlines, later moving to Boston, Los Angeles and back to Boston and then on to Portland where he was supervisor of maintenance when he retired on November 30, 1980 after 37 years of service. After retirement, he bought a new home on Cape Cod, where his wife, the former Marguerite Merrill, whom he married in September 1946, died on September 17, 1981. In February 1983 he moved to the home of Evelyn at Bryant Pond. He owned a cottage at North Pond in Woodstock for many years where he spent summer vacations.
Mr. Casper was a member of the Jackson-Silver Post American Legion of Locke Mills, the Woodstock-Greenwood Senior Citizens and St. John's Catholic Church of Bangor.
He is survived by five nieces, two nephews and one sister-in-law, Minnie Casper of Ellsworth. He was predeceased by two brothers, Stephen and Edward as well as three sisters, Victoria Ryan, Annie Shorpshire and Mary Smith.
A graveside service will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor at a later date. Arrangements by Andrews Funeral Home, 64 Andrews Road, South Woodstock.

Mr. Scott Blanchard

SOUTH PARIS - Scott Blanchard, 51, of South Paris died Friday, May 30 at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Amesbury, MA on June 16, 1951 the son of James and Constance Coolidge Blanchard. He graduated from Telstar High School in 1971.
He is survived by his mother of Limerick; two brothers, Steven Blanchard of Limerick and David Blanchard of Greenwood; a nephew, Kyle Blanchard of Limerick; two nieces, Kimberly and Regan Blanchard, both of Limerick. He was predeceased by his father.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at Norway Pine Grove Cemetery in South Paris. Arrangements are under the direction of Weston Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main St., South Paris.

Mr. Ralph R. Truman

OXFORD - Ralph R. Truman, 77, of Oxford died Thursday, July 24 at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Norway on April 23, 1926, the son of Ned and Almeda Stevens Truman.
He graduated from Norway High School. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Navy for three and a half years. He later retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968 after 20 years. He served during World War II, Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the N.R.A.
Mr. Truman is survived by a son, Milton Chapman of Oxford; a daughter, Dorothy Chapman of Readfield; four grandchildren, James Cotton of Pendleton, OR, Brandon Marchesseault of Fort Benning, GA, Rebecca Pallozzi of Gray and Katie-Marie Cotton of Crown Point, IN; a sister, Marietta Bean of Gorham; a brother, Maford Truman of Norway and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister and four brothers.
At his request there will be no services. Remembrance donations can be made to the Maine Veterans Home, 477 High St., South Paris, ME 04281. Arrangements are under the direction of Weston Chandler Funeral Home, 230 Main St., Norway.
