Blanche L. Spearin
Blanche L. Spearin, 77, of Yarmouth Road, died May 11, 2003, at a Portland hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Her husband, Hazen Spearin, also died from the accident.

She was born in South Portland, a daughter of John H. and Harriett Wallace Worthen and attended schools there.

Mrs. Spearin moved here from Portland 43 years ago.

She was predeceased by a brother, John Worthen.

Surviving are a son, Mark J. Spearin of Durham, NC, and a sister, Elizabeth M. Worthen, of Portland.

Services will be held in conjunction with her husband's at 11 A.M., Saturday, May 17, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, the Rev. Eva Cutler will officiate. Visiting will be from 10-11 A.M., prior to service. Interment will follow in Gray Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to:Gray Rescue, 125 Shaker Road, Gray, Maine 04039.

Bruce Muzzy, 51
Bruce Muzzy, son of George and Beatrice Muzzy, of Gray, passed away on Monday, August 23, in Oklahoma. He was 51.

He graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 1966. He was in the U.S. Army, and served in Germany before moving to Oklahoma. He was married to the late Linda Snow, of New Gloucester.

Muzzy is survived by his parents; two sons, Christopher, of Oklahoma, and Scott, USN, of Florida; a brother, Peter Muzzy, of Portland, ME; two sisters, Susan Wood, of California, and Karen Webb, of Virginia; three grandchildren, Evan, Hannah and Kylie Muzzy; four nieces and one nephew.

Charles Davison
Charles Davison, 87, died May 15.

He was born in Portland September 7, 1913, a son of William and Ellen Davison, and attended Portland Schools. He retired from Portland Stove Foundry and was a member of the Cathedral Church.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine, of Raymond; three sons, James and Richard, of Raymond, and Paul, of New Gloucester; one daughter, Patricia Rogers of Mechanic Falls, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased are a son; Michael who died in 1999 and granddaughter Shannon Davison who died in 1998.

Visitation was at Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, followed by a funeral, with Monsignor Robert Lavoie as celebrant. Committal will be at a later date. Arrangements were by Wilson Funeral Home.

Charles Davison, Sr.
Charles Michael Davison, Sr., of Raymond, died Tuesday at a Portland hospital.

Mr. Davison was born in Portland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davison, of Raymond.

He is survived by three sons, Michael, Timothy and Stephen, all of Raymond; two daughters, Shirley Davison, of Raymond, and Michelle Davison, of Gray; three brothers, James, of Raymond, Paul, of New Gloucester, and Rick, of Raymond; one sister, Patricia Rogers, of Mechanic Falls; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were private, with arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, of Gray.

Charlotte Burnell, formerly of Gray
Charlotte Burnell, 85, of North Yarmouth, died last Saturday after a long illness.

She is survived by her only duaghter, Judith Seavey; six grandchildren, Dennis Seavey, Jeffrey Seavey, Diane Doe, Stephen Seavey, Michael Seavey and Scott Seavey; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Burnell once lived in Gray.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Yarmouth Extension, c/o Eleanor Weston, 242 East Maine Street, Yarmouth, ME 04096.

Charlotte Gardner
Charlotte Erva Gardner, nee Davis, 86, died August 1.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of George P. and Erva England Powles Davis, she attended schools on Long Island, New York, and graduated from Hofstra University. Charlotte married George "Tim" Gardner, who died early in the marriage. She then married F.R. Linsenmeir.

Charlotte spent summers in Maine with her parents on a camp on Crystal Lake since she was a child. The early childhood swimming experiences created a foundation for her to become one of the beautiful young ladies who performed synchronized swimming at the Aquatic Center at Jones Beach on Long Island.

Upon graduating from Hofstra University, while living on Long Island, she owned and operated George B. Gardner & Sons Memorials and a sandblasting company which did a lot of work for Grumman Air Craft. She belonged to the Garden City Country club.

In 1975, she moved to Maine to retire an became and active member of her childhood community. She served on several town committees, including the Gray Water District. She volunteered at the Gray Animal Farm, and belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Maine State Parade, First Congregational Church of Gray, and the Hofstra Alumni Association. Charlotte was an avid bridge player, golfer and bowler, and was an Eagle Scout. Charlotte's love and passion was her flowers and gardens.

She is survived by her beloved children, Tim Gardner II and his wife Lisa, of Mission Viejo, CA, and Erva Louise England Linsenmeir Gardner, of Gray; three grandchildren, Britt Marie Gardner, Timothy Ryan Gardner and Jayme Lynn Gardner, and great-grandson Dylan Ryan Gardner, all of Mission Viejo.

Graveside services were held on Friday in Gray Village Cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray.

In her memory, memorial donations may be made to Gray Fire-Rescue, 125 Shaker Road, Gray, Maine 04039.

Charlotte Wallace
Charlotte Bridgham Wallace, 78, of Gray, died January 8 at Maine Medical Center, Portand, after a brief illness.

She was born September 12, 1925, in Springfield, MA.

A 1947 graduate of Bates College, she received a Master of Education degree in 1961 from Springfield College. She taught second grade in Springfield for ten years.

When she moved to Maine in 1970, she taught second grade in Falmouth for 9 years. During this time, she developed and implemented a systemwide curriculum on the hisotry of Falmouth. This led to the publication of her book, E Pluribus Unum: A Story of Falmouth, Maine, which her husband Donald illustrated.

In the mid 1980s, she wrote regularly for the Falmouth Forecaster and Falmouth Historical Society. As a teacher, she was known for her creative and engaging teaching style, and her students still remember her with enthusiasm.

After retirement, she continued to write books, including personal histories, a cookbook and a book of Yankee sayings. Those who knew her were deeply touched by her kind and nurturing spirit.

She was predeceased by her parents, F. Nelson Bridgham and Marie Rice Bridgham, and her sister, Harriette Bridgham Beatty.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Erskine Wallace; her children, Eric Leslie Woodard, of Marion, IN, Diane Woodard Dynia, of New Haven, CT, and Linda Woodard, of Gray; her stepdaughters, Marcella Brown and Rebekah Woodard, of Gray; a niece, Jan Beatty, of Simsbury, CT; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wallace was a member of Gray Congregational Church for many years, and a volunteer for Maine Audubon Society.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to Maine Audubon Society, 21 Gilsland Farm Road, Falmouth, Maine 04105.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday at the First Congregational Church of Gray, Pastor Douglas Hedstrom officiating.

Arrangements are under the care of Wilson Funeral Home.

Cheryl Vickerson dies at 56
Cheryl Vickerson, 56, formerly of New Gloucester, passed away April 19 at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born on January 2, 1949, in Gray, the daughter of Leslie, Sr., and Mavis Jordan, of New Gloucester. She attended Memorial School in New Gloucester, and graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 1967.

Cheryl worked for many years for Cole Farms Restaurant as a waitress and for Unum Insurance for several years. She moved to Greenville, SC, to attend Bob Jones University and worked for 16 years in various offices for the University, most recently in the purchasing department.

Cheryl knew everyone and had many friends; they all loved her.

She loved all people, little children, all animals, her flower garden, and had a great love for cooking and collecting cookbooks. She loved coming home at Christmas just sto see the snow.

She was predeceased by her father, Leslie Peaco, Sr., and a sister, Donna Peaco.

She is survived by her mother, Mavis Peaco; a sister, Diane Peaco; three brothers, Lawrence Peaco and Wesley Peaco, both of New Gloucester, and Leslie Peaco, Jr., of Poland; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation and funeral were held last weekend at Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray. Committal services will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
