Theodore M. Jokinen
1998-04-09

SWEET HOME, OR Theodore M. Jokinen, 75, died on March 17, 1998, at his home on Clark Mill Road in Sweet Home OR.

Mr. Jokinen was born in Harrison, the son of Minnia and Gusti Jokinen.

He attended school in Harrison. He served in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S. Dobbin for three years during World War II as a boiler tender. After the war, he worked most of his life as a millwright in the U.S. and Australia.

In 1950, he married Helen P. McKenzie of West Paris. He was a devoted father to her four children and their two sons. He retired in 1988 and lived in Oxford for five years before moving to Sweet Home in 1993.

Mr. Jokinen was a life member of the Mt. Tir'em Masonic Lodge, P. O. Box 93, North Waterford, ME. Contributions in his memory can be made to the lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years; four sons; one daughter, Judith Foster, Bryant Pond; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, David Jokinen of Goshen, OR and one sister, Lillian Norman of Florida.

Patricia E.C. Jones
1999-04-22

Patricia Elizabeth Comer Jones, 69, Jefferson, died April 19 at her home.

She was born Nov. 19, 1929 in Bangor, the daughter of Martin and Rose Comer. She attended John Bapts High School in Bangor.

On Oct. 18, 1948, she married Lewis C. Jones and, in October 1998, they celebrated their 50th anniversary and renewed their wedding vows.

Mrs. Jones loved country-western music, crafts, traveling with her husband, and her many, many friends. She enjoyed being with her family, children, and grandchildren. Her most favorite collectibles were her hundreds of frogs and her many stuffed animals.

She was predeceased by four children, Lewis Jr., Richard, Gary, and Darryl.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Donald and his wife Jean of Nobleboro; six daughters, Paulette and her husband Sandy Skidgell of Georgia, Arlene Jones of Columbia Falls, Marilyn and her husband Bruce Sewall of Warren, Cheryl and her husband Ed Reynolds of Massachusetts, Terry and her husband Rick Wilshire of Warren, and Gail Tillson of Tennessee; a sister, Rita Brooks of Winterport; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wed., April 21, at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro, and a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs., April 22, at the funeral home. The Rev. Warner Howard will officiate. Interment immediately following at Rest Haven cemetery in Windsor.

Arthur J. Jordan
1999-02-04

LEWISTON - Arthur J. "Skip" Jordan, 53, died on Monday, February 1, 1999, at the Central Maine Medical Center, were he had been a patient.

Born on April 13, 1945, he was the son of the late Alred A. and Josephine M. (Foster) Jordan. He was educated in the Buckfield Schools and was a life long resident of Buckfield. He married the former Linda L. Tripp on April 16, 1966.

A member of the US Navy, he served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

He worked for over 27 years at Pioneer Plastics in Auburn as a finishing machine operator. Illness forced him to retire this past November.

A member of the American Legion, Post 150 of Mechanic Falls, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and scratching lottery tickets. Skip will always be remembered as a quite, compassionate man who was always willing to come to the aid of someone in need.

Besides his wife of 32 years, he is survived by his mother Josephine of Buckfield; a son, Matthew of Buckfield; a daughter Lori, and her husband Tony Wight of Braintree, VT; three brothers, William and his wife Wanda of Buckfield, Michael and his wife Betsy of Hebron, and James of Buckfield; two sisters, Elaine and her husband Elwood Damon, and Alma Jordan Ames and her husband Calvin, all of Buckfield, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m.at the Buckfield Community Church. Interment will be in the spring at the Buckfield/Damon Cemetery.

Andrews Funeral Home, Buckfield, is in charge of arrangements.

G. Edwina Jordan
1999-02-18

PORTLAND - G. Edwina Jordan, 61, of Westbrook died February 8, at Maine Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born October 18, 1937 in South Paris, the daughter of Roland Andrews and Lucille (Buck) Hooper.

She attended West Paris schools before moving to Portland where she married Raymond Jordan.

Survivors are a daughter Carmen Dolloff; two sons, Wade of Westbrook and Dana of MA; three grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Wing of Bryant Pond and Patricia Gittris of UT; and a brother Robert Andrews of South Paris. She is also survived by her ex-husband, Raymond Jordan.

She was predeceased by both parents and a sister Nancy Polvinen.

There will be private services in the spring.

Ida E. Judkins
1998-06-25

Ida Elizabeth Judkins, 75, of Wiscasset, died Saturday, June 20 at her home after a long illness.

Born in Farmington on June 1, 1923, she was a daughter of Fred and Gladys (Schultz) Whittier, and attended schools there.

On December 31, 1940, she married Robert R. Judkins. He died November 25, 1997.

She and her family were residents of Jay until 1968 when they moved to Wiscasset where she was employed by Camp Chewonki and Ledges Inn.

She enjoyed spending time at camp on David Pond, Fayette with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, her work, and games with her family, the family get-togethers, cookouts, outings at Thomas Point and traveling.

She was predeceased by her husband and three grandchildren, Dean Farrington in 1983, Rodney Judkins Jr. and Angela Judkins.

Surviving are two daughters, Janice Farrington of Auburn and Marilyn Armstrong of Strong; three sons, Rodney Judkins of Farmington, Gearry Judkins of Boothbay Harbor and Dennis Judkins of Wiscasset; a sister, Maxine Watson of Farmington; two brothers, Fred Whittier of Farmington and Paul Whittier of Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 24 at Adams Funeral Home in Farmington. Visitation hours were prior to the funeral service.

Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, Maine Affiliate, P.O. Box 2208, Augusta, ME 04338-2208.

Mrs. Isabelle Sherman Jackson

LEWISTON - Isabelle Sherman Jackson, 78, of Oxford died Monday, February 14, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.

She was born in Littleton, NH on August 28, 1921, the daughter of Reuben and Lotte (Donaghy) Sherman. She attended Littleton High School and then married William Jackson.

Mrs Jackson previously lived in Rhode Island and Whitefield, NH before moving to Oxford in 1962. She worked at B.E. Cole Shoe Factory for several years and Cornwall's and Oxford Pine Products. She also did volunteer work with the elderly at Androscoggin Home Health.

Mrs. Jackson loved gardening, and she grew beautiful vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed knitting, oil painting, the out-of-doors, and being with her grandchildren. Her greatest pleasure was going to the ocean at Wells Beach with her family. She was a woman of great strength, character, and an inspiration to all. She showed great determination in her battle with cancer, which she was able to overcome for 11 years until the day she died.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by two sons, Andrew Jackson of CA and Timothy Jackson of GA; two daughters, Jane Haskell of South Paris and Kathleen Pandaria of Massachusetts; six grandchildren, Tanya Turner of Oxford, Tabitha Smith of Norway, Jennifer Chagnon of Norway, Jeremy Smith of Lovell, April Barker of Mechanic Falls, and Timmy Jackson Jr. of Georgia; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and 10 sisters.

Funeral services were held on Friday, February 18, at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home in Norway, with Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse of the Grace Fellowship Church in Oxford officiating. Interment will be in the Webber Brook cemetery in Oxford in the spring.

Donations in Mrs. Jackson's memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Box 458, Brunswick, ME 04011.

June D. Johnston
1999-11-25

June D. (Davis) Johnston, 82, of Duxbury, Mass. died at her home on Tuesday, November 16.

She was born in Brockton, Mass, the daughter of the late Fred and Mabel (Cushing) Davis. She attended Brockton schools and graduated from Jackson Dental School at Tufts University.

Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker and at one time was a dental hygienist. She had lived in Duxbury for 20 years and in Boothbay Harbor for over 20 years. Her favorite hobby was gardening.

She was the wife of the late Jackson Kent.

Mrs. Johnston is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sara C. Johnston and Alex Skene of Rochester, Mass., and her granddaughter, Lea E. Skene.

A memorial service was held Monday, November 22 in the First Parish Church, Duxbury. Donations may be made in her memory to the Standish Humane Society, P.O. Box 824, Scituate, Mass 02066 or the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library Fund.

Grace Jones

Grace Jones, 85, of Wiscasset, died Wednesday, November 3, at her residence with her family by her side.

Born in North Newcastle on December 8, 1913, she was the daughter of Tilden and Antoinette (Campbell) Hodgkins.

In 1931 she graduated from Lincoln Academy, and attended Gorham Normal School of Commerce in Auburn.On August 16, 1936, she married Ralph L. Jones. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grand-children.

She was a member of the Alna Newcastle Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph L. Jones of Wiscasset; three sons, L. David "Davy" Jones and his wife Pat of Palermo, Meredith Jones of Wiscasset, and Malcolm "Mickey" Jones and his wife Crystal of Wiscasset; two daughters, Joanne Severance and her husband Fred of Farmingdale, and Laura "Dolly" Hayward and her husband Frank of Woolwich; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 6 at the Alna Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Miles Hospice, RR 2, Box 4500, Damariscotta, ME 04543, or to the Alna Newcastle Baptist Church, c/o Philip Poland, Town House Road, Whitefield, ME 04353. Arrangements were by Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, Federal Street in Wiscasset.
