Thelma Jordan
2000-08-31

Thelma R. Jordan died Wednesday, August 23 at St. Andrews Hospital after a brief illness. She celebrated her 94th birthday on August 13 with her family at her home.

The daughter of Curvin and Flora Lane Rowe, she was born August 13, 1906 in Boothbay Harbor. She lived in the region all her life, having grandparents who lived on Monhegan Island. In 1925 she graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School and attended Shaws Business College in Portland.

At one time she was secretary for the Harold W. Bishop Insurance Agency and later worked for Asa Tupper and Wesley Hyde at the J. Edward Knight Insurance Agency. She was a lifetime member of the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church. She was president of the Susanna Wesley Circle for 15 years, a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women.

She was a former member of the Eporth League, the Campfire Girls, the Periwinkles, the Boothbay Region High School Boosters Club, and was also active as an assistant leader of the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.

In the 1950s Thelma and Mildred Webster formed and established the Boothbay Region High School Athletic Boosters Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and working in the flower gardens taking care of her rose bushes.

In 1928, she married Harold W. Jordan who died in 1989. Together, they owned and operated Jordan's Restaurant and Motel for 26 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine Osgood of Monroe, Georgia, and Judith Gillies of Boothbay Harbor and Sarasota, Fla.; one son, Alden Jordan of Boothbay Harbor; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grand-children; one sister, Millie Giles of Boothbay Harbor; two brothers, Merton Rowe of Waterville and Melville Rowe of Coopers Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Sunday, August 27 at the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery in Boothbay.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by the Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home in Boothbay.

Audrey Jackson
2000-03-09

Audrey Jackson, 90, Waldoboro, died Tues., March 7 at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro.

Audrey was born April 8, 1909 in Waldoboro, the daughter of Frank and Alice Gross Creamer, Sr.

She grew up in Waldoboro and attended school in Dutch Neck. In 1937 she married Charles A. Jackson. She worked on Monhegan Island as a waitress and also was employed by the Paragon Button Factory in Waldoboro for ten years.

Audrey was a member of the West Waldoboro Church Community, the West Waldoboro Community Club and a member of the Meenahga Grange in Waldoboro.

Audrey is survived by: her husband of 62 years, Charles A. Jackson of Waldoboro, daughters, Ramona Cornish of Topsham, Jean Robinson of Waldoboro;sister Pauline Johnston; four grandchildren, James Cornish, III and Jonathan Cornish of Topsham, Aaron and Kim Robinson of Portland, four great grandchildren, Blaine, Kathrina, Amber and Carly Bess Cornish, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., May 13 at the Dutchneck Cemetery, Waldoboro. Rev. John Ineson will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hall Funeral Home-949 Main St., Waldoboro.

Caroline B. Jackson
2000-05-04

Caroline B. Jackson, 76, formerly of Nobleboro, late of Versailles, Mo., died April 30 at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo.

She was born Jan. 14, 1924 in Groveland, Mass., a daughter of the late Henry and Caroline C. Hall Stephenson.

She was united in marriage to Walter W. Jackson on July 16, 1949. He predeceased her on Feb. 4, 1983.

Mrs. Jackson moved to Versailles from Nobleboro in 1996 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stover, Mo. and was active in the senior citizen clubs in Versailles and Stover.

Survivors include four sons, David E. Jackson of Giddings, Tex., Robert Jackson of Nobleboro, Donald Jackson of Lawrence, Mass. and Paul Jackson of Los Angles, Cal.; daughter, Helen Marriott and husband Bill of Versailles; brother, Harold Stephenson of Groveland, Mass.; sister, Mildred Esty of Groveland; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sat., May 27 at 11 a.m. at the Nobleboro Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Merton E. Roberts Jr. and Conte Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant St., Georgetown, Mass. 01833.

Edna D. Jackson
2000-09-28

Edna D. Jackson, 88 Waldoboro, also of Hollywood, Fla., died Sept. 21, at her home in Hollywood.

She was born in Dexter, a daughter of Robert and Jean Young Cuthberson, and lived in Rockland for most of her childhood, completing an eighth grade education in Rockland schools.

When she was a teen-ager, her family moved to Waldoboro where she later married Raymond W. Jackson Sr. on Feb. 22, 1929.

Early in her married life she lived at Orff’s Corner, where she made and sold butter and did laundry for others. She later worked as a machine operator at Paragon Button Factory in Waldoboro.

Mrs. Jackson was a former member of the Eastern Star and Progressive Grange in Winslow Mills. She was a member of the Orff’s Corner Community Methodist Church, where she was superintendent of Sunday School, a choir member and participated in church suppers and socials.

In 1956 she moved to Florida, where she worked as a machine operator at a novelty plant. She also became a member of the Baptist Church of Hollywood, volunteered with the church’s food services for nearly 25 years and was a member of their Jolly Sixties group.

During her later years, she worked as a baby-sitter with a local agency and worked for some former Miami Dolphins.

She was a Dolphins fan for many years and followed Dan Marino’s career.

Her husband died Feb. 28, 1974, and a son, Raymond W. Jackson Jr., died May 28, 1993.

Surviving are daughters: Jean D. Simmons of Waldoboro, Gloria D. Juhase of Hollywood and Faylene Womach of Oklahoma City; a son, Rodney W. Jackson of Hollywood; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Orff’s Corner Community Church, a funeral conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Vernon Jordan, officiating. Burial will be in Orff’s Corner Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cronrath Funeral Homes, Inc. Lewisburg, PA.

Charles Alfred Jackson
2000-12-07

Charles Alfred Jackson, 87, Waldoboro, passed away Fri., Dec. 1, at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.

Charles was born August 29, 1913 in Jefferson, the son of Willie and Lulu Bowman Jackson.

Charles grew up in Waldoboro and attended Waldoboro schools graduating from Waldoboro High School in 1932.

In the late 1920’s, Charles helped his father, working to build State roads, driving a team of horses. He worked for Henman Construction helping build the Atlantic Highway in 1932. He drove a team of horses and was a truck driver for Ed Reed for years and also worked for Prock Brothers Steel for approximately five years. He went to work for Bath Iron Works as a welder in 1937 and later went into the electrical department and retired as a supervisor in 1975.

He was a member of the West Waldoboro Community Church, Masonic Blue Lodge and Chapter AFAM King Solomon #61, Past High Priest of Chapter, Past Master of the Blue Lodge, Past President of the West Waldoboro Community Club and the Fish and Game Club.

He is predeceased by his wife Audrey Creamer Jackson.

He is survived by his daughters, Ramona Cornish of Topsham, Jean Robinson of Waldoboro, brother, Ralph Jackson of Waldoboro, grandsons, James Cornish, III of Topsham, Jonathan Cornish of Topsham, four great grandchildren, Blaine Cornish of Gray, Katrina, Amber and Carly Cornish all of Topsham.

Graveside service 11 a.m., Dec. 5, at the Dutchneck cemetery in Waldoboro.

The Rev. John Ineson will officiate.

Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro, 04572.

Doris A. Jaynes
2001-02-08

Doris A. Jaynes, 78, died January 30 at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor.

Prior to moving to Maine, she was a resident of Lachmont, N.Y. for over 50 years and a summer resident of Edgecomb for over 60 years.

Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Dr. Howard and Genevieve Applegate. She was a graduate of The City and Country School, The High School of Music and Art and attended New York University.

She was an active volunteer in her community, serving as president of the New Rochelle Hospital League for Service and the Larchmont Cotillion. She was an officer of the Larchmont Woman's Club and a member of the Larchmont and New Rochelle Garden Clubs, and was a former Girl Scout leader.

Mrs. Jaynes was a member of the Larchmont Avenue Presbyterian Church where she designed the Lenten season banner and had served as an assistant to the children's choir.

Surviving are her husband, George A. Jaynes of Boothbay Harbor; two daughter, Karen J. Tiger of Woolwich, and Jan A. Jaynes of Alexandria, Virginia; an aunt, Eleanor Cauvet of Waldoboro; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made in her memory to The Larchmont Avenue Presbyterian Church -- Youth Programs, Forest Park Avenue, Larchmont, NY, or to St. Andrews Village Library, 45 Emery Lane, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.

Crystalle Johnson
2000-07-27

Crystalle Rose “C.J.” Johnson, 16, Damariscotta, passed away unexpectedly July 19.

Crystalle was born May 12, 1984 in Rockport, the daughter of Paul and Rose Poland Johnson.

She attended Lincoln Academy High School and would have entered her junior year this fall. While at Lincoln, Crystalle enjoyed studying art. She liked drawing people’s faces and doing silhouettes. She had planned to incorporate art into her life’s career.

Crystalle was a member of Lincoln’s varsity softball team and played the position of catcher. She was an avid swimmer and water skier. She will be remembered for her enormous sense of humor, out-going free spirit, love of animals, being an awesome dancer, and simply living life to its fullest. Her family said she always put others before herself and was always a good friend who helped anyone in need.

Crystalle is survived by her father, Paul G. Johnson of Waldoboro; mother Rose and husband Robert Prior of Damariscotta; brother Larry P. Reed of Waldoboro; boyfriend James Libby of Nobleboro; paternal grandparents Jessie and Winona Johnson of Waldoboro; maternal grandparents Fred Poland and Evelyn Winchenbach and Marge and Carleton Simmons Jr., all of Waldoboro; Uncle “Ribet” Johnson and aunts Meme and Arlene Johnson, all of Waldoboro, and Margaret Benoit of Stratton. Special thoughts to Dana, Annette and the girls.

Visiting Hours: July 23, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.

Funeral Service: July 24, 1 p.m., Hall Funeral Home, Rev. Robert Dorr officiating.

Dean Stanwood Jordan
2000-01-06

Dean Stanwood Jordan, 69, of Westbrook, died Dec. 30 at his home.

Mr. Jordan retired from the Maine Warden Service after 20 years. He was first stationed at the 20 Mile Checkpoint and was also stationed in Rangeley, Livermore, Wayne, Winthrop, Cape Porpoise, Rockland and Wiscasset. After retirement, he worked in construction for several years at Portland Glass.

During his tenure as warden he became the state’s first safety officer and taught hunter safety in schools and communities. In 1996 he was officially inducted into the Hunter Safety hall of Fame. As a boy he had learned to trap, hunt and fish and brought much game to the family table. He was also a Boy Scout.>p> Mr. Jordan was a member of the Solar Lodge of Masons in Bath and the Kora Temple Shrine.. He went to Sunday school and church at Winter St. Congregational Church, Bath, and became a member of the Bath Congregational Church, United Church of Christ.

For 17 years he was the companion of Bertha Gardiner of Westbrook.

Surviving are a daughter, Laurie Jordan of Wiscasset; a son, Mark of Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother, Samuel of Phippsburg.

Memorial Service: Jan. 8, 1 p.m., United Church of Christ, Congress St., Bath. Arrangements: Blais Funeral Home.
