Richard J. Libby
1999-02-25

NORWAY - Richard J. Libby, 26, of Norway died Sunday February 21, 1999, unexpectedly.

He was born in Norway on November 27, 1972, the son of Richard and Maxine Seilonen Libby.

He was a graduate of Oxford Hills High School in 1992.

He had worked for Burlington Homes, Keiser Homes and recently for Cornwall's as an assembler.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, mining, and loved being with his family and friends. He had lived in the Oxford Hills area all his life.

He is survived by his parents of Oxford; three brothers, Warren and Jennifer Libby, of Norway, Merwin and Rebecca Libby of Waterford, and Nathan Libby of Oxford; a special nephew, Willy Libby, of Oxford, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers.

Memorial services were held Thursday at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway.

Interment will be in the Finnish cemetery in Harrison in the spring,

Frederick L. Liberty
1999-06-11

Frederick Loring Liberty, 32, of Gray; died unexpectedly last Friday as a result of a long-term seizure disorder.

Born April 5, 1967, in Lewiston the son of Daniel A., Sr., and Linda Loring Liberty, Mr. Liberty graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 1985. He had lived in South Portland for the past four years.

He enjoyed his 1966 Ford pickup, and hunting with his father. He liked being around people and playing with his nephew Casey. He also enjoyed playing pool with friends.

He worked for Dan Liberty Concrete Floors and Foundations and Oxford Plains Speedway.

Mr. Liberty is survived by his mother, of New Gloucester; his father, of Gray; his stepmother, Roxanne Liberty, of Gray; his grandfather, Frederick H. Loring, of Gray; his brothers, Daniel A., Jr., of Westbrook, and Jason Leighton, of Burlington, VT; his sisters, Katie Liberty McBrine, of Danville, Lisa Liberty Kelsen, of Gray, and Courtney Leighton, of Gray; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Arthur G. and Mary F. Liberty, Mary Chiasson Liberty, and Barbara Fitts Loring.

Charlotte H. Lillis
1998-07-02

PLYMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS - Charlotte H. Lillis, 93, died Saturday, June 27, 1998 at the Mayflower Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Woodstock, on February 14, 1905, a daughter of Elmer and Lena Meader Cummings. She attended Woodstock schools and was a graduate of Woodstock High School. Mrs. Lillis also attended Bates College in Lewiston. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She had lived in Rockland, Massachusetts and before that Quincy, Massachusetts. Charlotte married William Lillis on October 5, 1936. He died in 1976.

Mrs. Lillis is survived by one son, Dale Heldman and his wife Ruth, of East Sandwich, Massachusetts; a sister, Lydia Smith of Clearwater, Florida; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 1 at the Wayside Cemetery, in West Paris. Those who wish may make contributions in Mrs. Lillis' memory to the charity of one's choice. Arrangement were under the care of Andrews Funeral Home, South Woodstock.

Charlotte Lillis

WEST PARIS - Graveside services for Charlotte Lillis, of Plymouth, MA and formerly of Woodstock, were held Wednesday, July 1, 1998 at the Wayside cemetery in West Paris. Rev. Betsy Webber officiated.

Dale W. Lincoln

A committal service for Dale W. Lincoln of Whitefield who died December 27, 1997 will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 25 at Highland cemetery in Jefferson.

Arrangements are by Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, Federal Street, Wiscasset.

Elsie Louise Lincoln
1999-07-29

BETHEL - Elsie Louise (Taylor) Lincoln, 85, of Evergreen Road, Bethel, died at her home Saturday evening, July 24, 1999.

Mrs. Lincoln was born in Buffalo, NY, February 27, 1914, the daughter of the late Harry A. and Elsie Louise (Miller) Taylor, but graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1932.

She married Arthur F. Lincoln, in 1940, who predeceased her in August of 1966.

A resident of Bethel since 1955, she had resided in the Rumford area and Pittsfield, ME prior to establishing her home in Bethel.

A homemaker, by vocation, she became active in communityand civic organizations, being a library trustee for many years, and was especially active in the local, county and state Republican Party.

She was elected to the MaineHouse of Representatives, serving in the 100th through the 104th Legislatures,encompassing the years 1961 through 1970, and serving as Clerk of the Maine House of Representatives from 1971-1973.

Mrs. Lincoln is survived by two daughters, Nancy J. Lincoln, of Bethel, and Louise L. Poisson, of Cape Neddick, ME; a son, Arthur Fred Lincoln, of Severn, MD; six grandchildren, and a great grandchild.

There are no public visiting hours, and funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Bethel Methodist Church, or Bethel Historical Society. Arrangements are by the Greenleaf Funeral Home, Vernon St., Bethel.

Philip E. Little, Sr.
1999-07-22

Philip E. Little Sr., 79, of Spartanburg, SC, formerly of Boothbay Harbor, died at St. Andrew's Hospital Friday, July 16. He was born in Holbrook, Mass., the son of Philip and Annie Brewer Little on Jan. 20, 1920.

He attended schools in Boothbay Harbor and enlisted in the Navy. Wounded in WWII, he received the purple heart. After he got out of the service he painted houses in Orlando, Fla. He then moved to Spartanburg, SC and worked for Herst Fiber until retirement. He loved the ocean and enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens. He loved his motor home and traveled everywhere. He also enjoyed cruises and went on one every year.

A past master of the Clifton Masonic Lodge #215 in Spartanburg, he was also a member of the Isaac M. Giles #3475 VFW in Boothbay Harbor, and a former member of the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church where he sang in the choir as a boy.

He is pre-deceased by two brothers, Mike and Paul Little, and two sisters, Betty Pinkham and Nancy Barter. He is survived by a daughter, Selma Daniels of Samson, Ala., and a son, Philip E. Little, Jr. of Apopka, Fla., four sisters: Barbara Foley of Boothbay Harbor, Beatrice Schmucker of Palm Coast, Fla., Mary Nolon of Boothbay, and Marge Kluck of Boothbay, and one brother, Lawrence Little of Gainsville, Ala., as well as eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his long-time companion, Betty Zurbola of Apopka, Fla. A memorial service will be held in Apopoka at a later date. Arrangements are by Simmons, Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, Boothbay.

Mary K. Little
1998-08-13

LEWISTON - Mary K. Little, 39, of South Paris died Tuesday, August 11, 1998, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She was born on November 21, 1958, in Kankakee, Illinois. She was the daughter of Irene Hosier and the late Ralph Hosier of Chicago, Illinois.

After attending Catholic Schools in Chicago, she moved to Great Britain and married Lee Griffin. She worked as an emergency services operator for British Telecom.

She returned to the United States in 1980 and worked for the Home Office Answering Service in Tucson, Arizona. She married Bruce Little on September 4, 1983. Mary resided in Maine with her family and friends since 1987.

She was an author of short fiction (Borders, Maybe Tomorrow, A Matter of Choice, A Cold Night in January) written under the name K. C. Freeman. She was an avid reader and a good friend of the Norway Library. She enjoyed building a home library, gardening and canning. Her greatest joy was the care of her family and friends and they will all miss her uncanny ability to solve problems, large and small.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Bruce and her two sons, Samuel Freeman Little and Colin David Little of South Paris. She will also be missed by her mother, Irene Hosier; one sister, Rhonda Ferina; one brother, Ralph Hosier; and a nephew, Jacob Ferina, all of Madison, Wisconsin. She was predeceased by a sister, Cindy.

The family will receive friends at a memorial service in South Paris at the family's home at 77 Ellingwood Road on Saturday, August 15 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be sent to The American Cancer Society or Androscoggin Home Health Services, Oxford Office.

Your battle is over, sleep tight. We love you.

Mrs. Eleatha Lee' Littlefield
1998-12-24

YORK - Eleatha Lee Littlefield, 94, formerly of 2 Raydon Road, died Sunday, December 20, in Sunrise Nursing Home in Portsmouth, NH.

She was born on July 9, 1904 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of Allie and Ethelyn (Dearborn) Beane and was a graduate of Laconia High School. She was a 1925 graduate of Colby College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree and received a Master's Degree of Education from the University of Maine at Orono.

Mrs. Littlefield had been a high school English teacher and librarian at Wells High School, Rockland High School, Oxford High School, and Mechanic Falls High School, retiring at age 70.

After retired as a teacher she became the Post Mistress at the Moody Post Office for three years. Mrs.. Littlefield had also been the Assistant to the Director of Volunteers at Portsmouth Hospital and worked as a clerk for the Dixon Family of Cape Neddick. She was also a tutor and proctor for the York Adult and Community Education into her 90s.

She was a member of the Ogunquit Baptist Church for over sixty years, a York Hospital Volunteer, a member of the Phi Mu Sorority at Colby College, a member of the Maine Retired Teachers Association, the American Association of University women, the AARP, Past Grand Master of the Wells Grange, a Past Great Pocohontas of the Order of Pocohontas and the Order of Rebeccas.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Perkins Littlefield, who died in 1955 and by a daughter, Miriam Colbath; her brother Castleton Beane; and a grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John (Norma) Miller of Ogunquit and Mrs. Bruce (Linda) Coburn of York; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Lucas and Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Street in York. Burial will be private.

Ann J. Logan
1998-12-03

Ann Jones Logan, 69, died Tuesday, December 1 at her home on Sawyer's Island.

Born August 15, 1929 in Ridgewood, New Jersey, she was the daughter of William W. and Annette Lynch Jones. She lived in Oradell, New Jersey.

In 1947 Mrs. Logan graduated from Dwight School in Englewood, New Jersey, and from Connecticut College in 1951. She worked in New York City following college before moving to Boothbay Harbor to settle with her husband.

Mrs. Logan was a buyer and merchandiser for the House of Logan for 30 years. She was an early trustee of the Boothbay Region Land Trust, and on the Board of Directors for the Harbor Children's Center.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Ward Logan of Boothbay; two sons, William W. Logan and Alexander T. Logan; and one daughter, Sarah Logan Wilcox, all of Boothbay Harbor; and four grandchildren.

A private committal service will be held. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a favorite local charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, Boothbay.

Roy V. Lohndorf
1998-05-28

PORTLAND - Roy V. Lohndorf, 64, of Oxford died Thursday, May 21, 1998 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born at Patterson, NJ, on February 2, 1934 and was a graduate of Manhattan High School. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 and then in the Air Force from 1952 to 1961. He worked at Iafolla Construction from 1961 to 1972 and then he worked for the Civil Service for the United States Navy at the Naval ship yard in Portsmouth, NH from 1972 to 1986. He then worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for the Navy and also a structural Mechanical Inspector. In 1986 he retired from the Civil Service. After his retirement he worked for the Purpooduck Golf Course as an equipment repair supervisor. He liked fishing, enjoyed motorcycling and most of all loved his children.

He became disabled with cancer in May of 1995. He married Marie Twitchell on May 23, 1987. He is survived by his wife of Oxford, seven children, Joseph of Elliott, Anna Lighthbaum of Limestone, Barbara Manougian of Kittery Point, Roy of South Berwick, Karl of New Market NH, Sandra Ardolino of York, Victor of San Diego, CA; two stepchildren, Diana-Marie Glynn of Bryant Pond and Stephanie Antonivich of Charlestown, NH and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Oxford Advent Christian Church with Pastor Frank Jewitt officiating. Donations in Mr. Lohndorf's memory may be sent to either the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 456, Brunswick, Maine 04011 or the Oxford Advent Christian Church, c/o Janet Leblanc, 1130 Main St.. Oxford, Maine 04270. Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway, was in charge of arrangements.
