Mark Millett Mills
1998-07-02

PITKIN, LA - Mark Millett Mills, 72, of Pitkin, LA, formerly of Harrison, Otisfield, and Bryant Pond, died early Sunday morning, June 28 1998, at his residence.

Mr. Mills was born in Otisfield, the son of Eva Mae (Nye) Mills, and the late Norman O'Neil Mills on July 24, 1925.

He attended Otisfield grammar school, graduated from Norway High School in 1946 and was a member of the Grange Fraternal Organization.

Mr. Mills was a janitor for the West Sumner Baptist Church for a number of years and more recently had been a groundskeeper at Camp Living Waters, Bryson City, NC, prior to establishing his residence in Pitkin a year ago. Besides his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Elaine, and her husband, Wester Moore, of Pitkin; three brothers, Milton Mills and Sterling Mills, both of Bryant Pond and O'Neil Mills, of West Paris; a granddaughter, Tammie Morrison, and a great-granddaughter, Mary Morrison.

Services were held at the Andrews Funeral Home, South Woodstock on Wednesday with Interment in the Stuart's Corner Cemetery, Bolsters Mills.

Mark M. Mills

SOUTH WOODSTOCK - Funeral services for Mark M. Mills were held on Wednesday, July 1, 1998 at the Andrews Funeral Home, South Woodstock.

Interment was in the Stuart's Corner cemetery in Harrison. Officiating at the services was the Rev. Mr. Stuart Hilton. Serving as pallbearers were Milton, O'Neil, Ryan, Nathan, and Chris Mills, and Kelly Andrews.

Elizabeth M. Mills
1999-02-04

NORWAY - Elizabeth M. Mills, 81, of Oxford died Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Oxford on Dec. 6, 1917, the daughter of Alfred and Marcella Quinn Baxter. Mrs. Mills was educated in Oxford schools.

She worked for many years for Robinson Manufacturing before her retirement. She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church of Oxford. She had lived in the Oxford area for most of her life.

She married Forrest Donald Mills on Sept. 7, 1934.

She is survived by her husband of Oxford; a daughter, Marcella and her husband, Ronald Kugell of Oxford; three sons, Dale K. of Oxford, Don and his wife, Thelma, of Norway and Wayne B. of Mechanic Falls; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Alfred Baxter of Oxford and a sister, Stella Mills of East Hartford, CN.

Memorial services were held Saturday January 30th at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford with Fr. Mooreshead officiating. Interment will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn in the spring.

Donations in Mrs. Mill's memory may be sent to the Oxford Rescue Unit, Oxford, Maine 04270.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway.

Frank D. Mills III
1999-03-04

PALACIOS, TX - Frank D. Mills III, 60, died February 8, in Palacios, TX. He was the husband of Lois (Way) Mills of Palacios.

Mr. Mills was born on October 14, 1938 in Oxford, he son of Stella (Baxter) Mills of East Hartford, CT and the late Frank D. Mills Jr.

He was a resident of Palacios for the past 15 years.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a son Frank Hansen of South Tamworth, NH; three sisters: Elizabeth Robida of Moodus, CT, Romalea of Marlborough, CT and Teresa Patch of Boston; and a brother Joseph Mills of Moodus, CT. He was predeceased by his father and one sister.

A memorial service was held at the Palacios Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in Oxford. Memorials may be made to charity of one's choice.

George W. Mills
1999-03-25

SOUTH PARIS - George W. Mills, 88, of South Paris died Saturday March 20, 1999 at the Market Square Health Care Facility in South Paris.

He was born in Portland on April 24, 1910, the son of George W. Mills Sr. and Sarah May Attkinson.

He was a graduate of Deering High School.

He worked as a carpenter,then during WWII he worked at BIW in Portland helping build Liberty Ships one of which was the SS Jeremiah Obrian.

After the war he worked for many years for the Portland Coach Company where he was a shift foreman. He also worked at Gorham School Department before retiring. He was affiliated with the AFL CIO CLC.

He had lived in the Portland and Gorham area before retiring to South Paris.

He married Valzora Natalie Nutter on September 14, 1940 and she died in 1982.

He is survived by a son, Chester W. Mills, of Brookline,NH; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Strout (Carol Ann Strout) of Raymond; a niece, Mrs. Robert W. Hoitt (Eileen Coffin) of Nashua,NH.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at the Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 45 Main St, South Paris. There will be no visitation.

Lewis C. Montpelier
1999-01-14

GREENWICH, CT -Lewis C. Montpelier, 65, a longtime Riverside, CT resident and retired clothing importer, died Monday, January 4, at Greenwich Hospital.

He died of complication from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's disease, according to his family.

Mr. Montpelier lived in Riverside for 37 years and was director of imports for Frederick Atkins Inc., a New York City apparel company.

While working with Frederick Atkins, Mr. Montpelier traveled extensively and lived in Tokyo for two years. After retiring, he co-founded Phoenix Apparel in New York City, an importing business, and later worked for First Union Bank in Old Greenwich.

He was born March 6, 1933, in Portland, Maine, to the late Camile and Alice Lewis Montpelier.

He graduated from Colby College and later served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1962.

Mr. Montpelier is survived by his wife, Edith Bologna Montpelier of Riverside; a son, Peter Lewis Montpelier of Scarsdale, NY; a daughter, Yvonne Alice Montpelier of Riverside; two brothers, Arthur Montpelier of Cape Elizabeth and Peter Montpelier of Norway; and several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Burial followed in St. Mary's cemetery on North Street in Greenwich.

Donations may be made to the Eleanor and Lou Gehrig ALS/MDA Center, Neurological Institute, 710 W. 168th Street, New York, NY 10032-2099, payable to the ALS Gift Fund at Columbia University.

Wayne Spencer Moore, Sr.
1999-01-14

Wayne Spencer Moore, Sr., 63, Edgecomb, died at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, Jan. 10. He was born in West Boothbay Harbor, April 3, 1935, the son of Wallace and Dorothy Campbell Moore.

Wayne graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School. He married Joan Alley in 1952. Wayne worked most of his life around the water, he worked for eight years at the Paul Lukes Shipyard. Wayne loved to hunt and fish, he was a member of the Boothbay Fish and Game Association.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan Moore of Edgecomb; two daughters, Stephanie Moore of Edgecomb, Annette Main of Edgecomb; two sons, Wayne Moore Sr. of Westport, Edward Moore of Alna; one sister, Linda McCogney of Lewiston; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will not be held at the request of the family. Arrangements are by Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, Boothbay.

Wayne S. Moore Sr.

Wayne Spencer Moore Sr., 63, of Edgecomb, died at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, Sunday, January 10.

William F. Moore, Jr.
1998-03-26

QUINCY, MA - William F. Moore, Jr., 55, of Auburn died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, March 18, 1998, at Quincy Hospital.

He was born in Portland on October 24,1942, the son of William and Virginia Jackson Moore,Sr. He attended schools in South Portland and Windham. He faithfully served his country for 20 years in the Army, retiring in 1979 and currently worked for Corporate Dispatch. He was a member of Oxford Lodge #18 AF &AM in Norway, Stone-Smart American Legion Post #72 and a former member of the Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.

Survivors include his former wife of 28 years, Charlene Moore, of Norway; two daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Toby Herrick of Norway and Vicki and Dana Curtis of South Berwick; a son and his wife, William C. and Helen Moore of Oxford; one brother Willis of Westbrook and six grandchildren. Mr. Moore was pre-deceased by a half brother Wilbur Darling.

Funeral services were held at Weston-Chandler Funeral Home in South Paris on Sunday with Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse officiating.

Olive B. Moore
1998-11-05

SOUTH PARIS - Olive B. Moore, 82, of South Paris died Saturday October 31, 1998, at her residence.

She was born in Jefferson, ME on October 26, 1916, the daughter of John and Stella Rackliff Brann. Upon graduation from high school , she attended college in Bakersfield, CA.

She married Lawrence Moore on August 14, 1936 and he predeceased her on February 16, 1990.

Mrs. Moore was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jefferson Chapter # 89, Secretary of the Oxford County Democratic Committee from 1960 to 1975, Committeewoman for the Maine State Democratic Committee, a member of the County's Record Board and State Archives Board, a lifetime member of the Paris Cape Historical society, Register of Deeds for Oxford County from 1967 to 1987 and a member of the Paris Town Budget Committee from 1968 to 1987,

In addition, she was selectwoman for town of Paris from 1987 to l990, a member of the Maine County Office Holders Assoc. and Register of Deeds Association (Secretary/ Treasurer from 1968 to 1987), and a member of the Maine Association of Retirees. She also held a Amateur Radio License( call sign WBl HBJ) since 1978, and was a member of the Yankee Amateur Radio Club and the American Radio Relay League.

She is survived by two sons, Harold Craig Moore of Oxford and Larry Allen Moore of South Paris; a daughter, Laurene Leslie Moore of South Paris, four grandchildren, and great grand children.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Arlington and John, and a sister, Doris.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Norway Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Androscoggin Home Health Services, 15 Strawberry Ave., PO Box 819 Lewiston, ME 04243-0819. Arrangements were under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, South Paris.

George S. R. Moorhouse
1999-05-14

George Sydney Redvers Moorhouse, 99, a longtime dairy farmer, died at a Portland hospital April 15, 1999.

He was born in Rosemead Junction, South Africa, a son of Charles Henry Redvers Moorhouse and Lillian Parker Moorhouse Pearson. They lived in England until 1912, then moved to Rhode Island.

He graduated from University of Rhode Island in 1922; his son Arnold graduated from the same institution in 1960, and grandson Alan graduated from URI in 1991.

Mr. Moorhouse operated a dairy farm 1925-1988 when he moved to Gray and lived with his daughter, Ginny Duhamel.

He married Sara Gray in 1925. She died in 1994 at 91. Two sons died previously, Norman in 1950 and Roger in 1963. Surviving are a son, Arnold of Douglass, AZ; three daughters, Martha Holland, of Westerly, RI, Virginia Duhamel, of Gray, and Rosalie Mitchell, of Georgetown, DL. 11 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. A sister, Mary Pearson Saunders, died in 1969, leaving two daughters, Barbara Ricci, of Westerly, RI, and Jean Aiello of Bradford.

Funeral services were private for relatives and friends. Arrangements were by Wilson's Funeral Home.
