Jeannette A. Couillard
Jeannette A. Couillard, 91, of Lewiston, died Aug. 10 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Lewiston, a daughter of Napoleon and Anna Laliberte Vaillancourt.
On June 16, 1934, she married Joseph A. Couillard. He died on June 26, 1981.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Jeannine) Chaput of Scarborough; two sons, Richard Couillard of Westbrook and Robert Couillard of Cumberland; four sisters, Lorette and Yvette Vaillancourt, Rose Jalbert and Emilienne Coulombe, all of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Charles R. Hooper
Charles R. Hooper, 80, a resident of the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough, died Aug. 7, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Portland.
He was born in Watertown, Mass., a son of Melville W. and Lillian L. Blake Hooper. He attended schools in Massachusetts, including the Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute.
He served with the Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a sergeant in the artillery.
On Aug. 14, 1946, he married Phyllis Additon in Leeds. They lived in their own home on the Additon farm in Leeds.
Mrs. Phyllis Hooper died in 1981.
On Nov. 7, 1981, he married Betty Mahar Doyle.
His second wife died on March 2, 2001.
A son, Carl, died previously. He is survived by three stepdaughters, Susan Doyle and Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Campbell of New Gloucester and Linda Osborn of Scarborough; five stepsons, William Doyle of Livermore Falls, Arthur Doyle Sr. of Buxton, Donald Doyle Sr. of Gray, Robert Doyle of Gorham and Bruce Doyle of Durham; two grandsons, 20 stepgrandchildren and 17 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Burial was in Leeds Center cemetery in Leeds.

Ronald J. Marion
Ronald J. Marion, 64, of Jameco Mill Road in Scarborough, died Aug. 6 at a Portland hospital.
He was born in Carbondale, Pa., a son of Harold and Leona Horan Marion, and graduated from St. Paul's High School and the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Tobin Marion of Scarborough; two sons, Christopher R. of Princeton, N.J., and Kieran P. of Haslett, Mich.; a brother, Harold F. of Scranton, Pa.; and a sister, Arlene Horan of Norwell, Mass.
Burial was in Cathedral Cemetery.

Paul L. Boucher
Paul L. Boucher, 73, of Scarborough, died Aug. 20 at the Maine Veterans' Home.
He was born in Biddeford, a son of George and Reina Cote Boucher, and attended parochial schools and Saco public schools. He also attended St. Louis High School and Thornton Academy.
Mr. Boucher served in the Army in Korea, and with the Coast Guard.
In 1952, he married Marjorie Davis in St. George.
His daughter, Claudette Hillock, died previously.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years; one brother, John of Baltimore; and one granddaughter, Rhonda Brown, one great-grandson, Joseph Brown, and one great-granddaughter, Carylanne, all of Scarborough.
Burial was in Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.

Donald C. ‘Bronc’ Thorne
Donald C. “Bronc” Thorne, 81, of South Portland, died Aug. 17 at a Portland hospital.
He was born in South Portland, a son of Alice Thorne. He attended local schools and graduated in 1939, then enlisted in the Army and served during World War II.
He married Jeanette Wallace in 1944.
A son, Stephen, died in 1985.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Philip A. of South Portland and William B. of New Gloucester; a brother, Stanley E. of Portland; four grandchildren; and five great-grand- children.
Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

James T. Tanski
James T. Tanski, 34, of Foxhill Lane, died Friday at his home from complications of diabetes.
Tanksi was self-employed in Scarborough as the Chef’s Butcher. A native of Middletown, Connecticut, Tanski moved to Scarborough in 2001 after working at the Woodstock Inn and Resort in Woodstock, Vermont, and Sysco Food Service in Norton, Mass. and Rocky Hill, Conn.
A 1985 graduate of Xavier High School in Middletown, Tanski received an associate degree in culinary arts in 1987 from New Hampshire College in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Tanski enjoyed music and football. He is survived by his wife of eight years, son Trevor James of Saco, daughter Suzanne M. of Saco, his mother, brother Thomas of Simsbury, Conn., and sister Terii Gregg of Providence, R.I.

Joseph L. Torres
Joseph L. Torres, 76, died Nov. 20, at Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough.
He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas, a son of Luis and Juanita Munoz Torres, and attended schools there. He graduated from Chabot College in Oakland, Calif., with a bachelor of arts degree.
He moved to Maine in the late 1970s to teach at the former Crosby School in Biddeford.
His first wife, Dorothy, died in 1990, and a son, Jeffrey, died in 1970.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Jane Olsen Torres; two sons, Joseph Jr. of Macon, Ga., and Dennis of San Francisco; three daughters, Mrs. John (Cynthia) Ricci and Shelley Oakman, both of California, and Pamela Torres of Portland; a stepson, Sean Emmons of Portland; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

June Elizabeth Rogers
June Elizabeth Rogers, 77, of Portland Avenue in Old Orchard Beach, died Nov. 28, at a Portland hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Shelburne, Mass., a daughter of Wilbert Everett and Beatrice Emma Barnes Herzig. She graduated from Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, Mass. She studied at Nyack (N.Y.) Missionary Training Institute and Eastern Bible Institute in Greenlane, Pa.
She married Calvin T. Rogers in 1947. They moved to Old Orchard Beach in 1964.
She and her family operated the Pine Acres Boarding Home in Old Orchard Beach during the 1970s. They later owned and operated the Sea Way Family Restaurant in Scarborough.
A son, Calvin W. Rogers, died in 1990.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Calvin T. Rogers Jr.; a daughter, Cynthia Place of Old Orchard Beach; two sons, James T. Rogers and Timothy A. Rogers of Old Orchard Beach; a sister, Sally Streeter of Nevada; a brother, Stanley Herzig of Colrain, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Burial was in Scarborough Memorial Cemetery.

Gordon Witherell
Gordon Witherell, 95, died Nov. 28, at a nursing home in Scarborough.
He was born in Monmouth, and graduated from Monmouth High School and Gray's School of Business in Portland.
He married Bessie Adams in 1947.
He is survived by his wife and two stepsons, Lee Adams Jr. of New Vineyard and Daniel Adams of Riverside, Calif.

Dana H. York
Dana H. York, 51, died Nov. 27, at his Scarborough home.
He was born in Portland, a son of Kent H. York and Barbara Thompson York. He was a 1969 graduate of Greeley High School in Cumberland and a 1974 graduate of the University of Maine.
She is survived by two daughters, Leslie York and Andrea York of Friendship; his father, of Windham; his mother, of Cumberland Foreside; two brothers, Jeffrey of Windham and Gary of Contoocook, N.H.; and a sister, Andrea York of Seattle.

Charles Williamson Bassett
Charles Williamson Bassett, 92, of Scarborough and formerly of Bloomfield, N.J., died Nov. 21, 2001, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born in St. Johnsville, N.Y., a son of Charles Edmund and Florence Williamson Bassett.
His wife, Arline Sanford Bassett, died April 11, 1990, and a daughter, Barbara Synck, died in 1968. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Ann Robinson of Williamsport, Pa.; two sons, John Howard Krimm of Houston and Charles Michael Bassett of Portland; 13 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Irene D. King
Irene D. King of Old Blue Point Road in Scarborough, died Nov. 30, at St. Andre Health Care Facility in Biddeford.
She was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Her husband, Robert King, died in 1965, and a son, Edward King, died in 1966.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Clark of Scarborough; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Janice C. Reny
Janice C. Reny, 66, of Spring Street in Scarborough died Nov. 30, at her home after a long illness.
She was born in Scarborough, a daughter of Leonard and Olga Neilson Maxfield, and graduated from Scarborough High School.
She is survived by her husband, William S. Reny; a son, Patrick J. Reny of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, James W. Maxfield of Scarborough; three nieces, Deborah Maxfield and Diana Maxfield, both of Scarborough, and Doreen Maxfield of South Carolina; and a nephew, Dennis Maxfield of Hollis.
