MARY G. MURRAY
NEWPORT—Mary G. Murray, 76, died September 23, 1999 at a Waterville hospital after a short battle with cancer. She was born December 16, 1922 at Newport, the daughter of John and Ellen (Curtis) Stevens. Mary will be remembered for her love of crafts, sewing, knitting, quilting and yard sales. She enjoyed practical jokes and was loved by all who knew her. Her life revolved around family and friends.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sandi and Fredrick Greenside of Newport, Raymond and Ethel Murray of St. Albans, Vernon and Pat Murray of Sanford, Fay and Billy Williams of Bangor, David Murray of Newport, Wanda and John Farmer of Newport, Donna Becker of Newport, Pamela Estabrook and her fiancée, Owen Tracy of Newport, John and Debbie Murray of Newport; a brother, John and his wife, Carolyn Stevens of Dexter; 2 sisters, Christy and her husband, Everett Rines of E. Newport and Edna Flannery of Waterbury, CT; 28 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond, of 48 years and her precious daughter, Jeannette.

A special thanks to Donald and Judy Murray for all their love and kindness and to all the doctors, nurses and staff for the wonderful care of our mother, Mary Murray, and for the continued care for our sister, Pam Estabrook.

Private family visiting hours will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and public visiting hours 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 64 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 27th, with the Rev. Ronald Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Newport.

LIONEL V. DOHERTY
CORINNA - A family graveside memorial service for Lionel V. Doherty, who died Sept. 13, 1999, will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at Nutter Cemetery, Corinna.

LINWOOD F. SCOTT
HUDSON – Linwood F. Scott, 89, husband of the late Helen L. Scott, died September 22, 1999 at his home in Hudson, surrounded by his family. He was born October 26, 1909 at Littleton the son of Joseph and Sadie Scott. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and worked in area woolen mills and potato farms. He was also a mechanic for many years at the Texaco station in Orono. He was known for his love of Hunting, fishing, storytelling and being the first to tell a good joke. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by friends and loved ones.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Nutter of Hudson, Donna White and her husband Stephen of Dexter; one son Ronald Scott, and his wife Susan of Brewer; one brother, Arnold MacDonald of Exeter; A special sister-in-law, Patricia Warner of Kissimmee, FL; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by 3 sisters, 1 brother, and a grandson.

Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, Exeter Road, Corinna, where funeral services will be held 3 P. M. Friday, September 24th. Burial will be in Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna.

GEORGE P. PERKINS
NEWPORT – George P. Perkins, 81, died Sept. 21, 1999 at his home in Newport after a lengthy illness. He was born May 6, 1918 at Corinna to Earle and Hazelle (Young) Perkins. George was the grandson of George and Annie (Greenwood) Young, with whom he lived. He graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1936 and served in the Army Chemical Warfare Dept. during World War II. George worked for many years in the Banking industry in Maine, coming to Newport in 1956 as Treasurer of the Newport Trust Company. He retired as President of Depositors Trust Company of Bangor in 1976. He later served as Manager of the Bangor office of Finard and Company, and also worked as an independent financial consultant for many years. He served on the Boards of Directors of Penobscot Savings Banks and Peoples Heritage Bank. He attended the People's United Methodist Church in Newport for 43 years. George was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid golfer and previously was a licensed private airplane pilot. He loved his home and took great pride in keeping his lawn in top condition. He especially enjoyed relaxing on the front porch with family, friends, and books.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorene (Judkins) Perkins of Newport; a daughter, Loralee (Poppy) Nelson and son-in-law Terry (Brick) Nelson of Wilbraham, MA; grandsons John D. Nelson and wife Denise of Hudson, MA, and Matthew Y. Nelson and fiancée Milissa Jones of Arlington, MA; a sister, Ruth P. Ham and husband Fay of Norridgewock; A sister-in-law, Mary Perkins of Corinna; several nieces and a nephew; As well as a special caregiver, Roxann Condon. George was predeceased by a brother, Paul D. Perkins of Corinna.

Friends may call 6-8 P. M. Thursday at Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 64 Main Street, Newport. Funeral services will be held 1 P. M. Friday, Sept. 24th, at People's United Methodist Church, Newport, with Revs. Marriott Churchill And George Tripp officiating. Burial will be in Corinna Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Peoples United Methodist Church Window Restoration Fund, 54 Main Street, Newport 04953. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

ROBERT "BOB" ROBICHAUD
NEWPORT - Robert D. Robichaud, 63, died unexpectedly September 10, 1999 at his Rowe Street residence. He was born April 16, 1936 at Milo the son of Levi and Helen ( Morton) Robichaud. He graduated from Milo High School, Class of 1954, and attended Husson College in Bangor. On May 4, 1961, he married the former Madelaine Chase. He was a rural mail carrier with the Newport Post Office for many years, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife of Newport, he is survived by a son, Michael of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter Michele of Braintree, Mass.; a brother, Thomas of Melrose, Mass.; a sister Corinne Bliss of N. Attleboro, Mass.; a grandson, Chase Robichaud of Braintree, Mass; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Monday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 64 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 14th, with Rev. C. James Martel officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Braintree After School Enrichment, 426 Pond Street, Braintree, MA 02184.

ROBERT "BOB" MAYHEW
CARMEL - Robert Edward "Bob" Mayhew, 59, died September 7, 1999 at a Bangor hospital following a long illness. He was born July 28, 1940 at Levant the son of Alton and Marion (Nowell) Mayhew. He was employed for many years as a heavy equipment mechanic at Sunrise Materials, formerly Maine Rock Products, of Hampden.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Joyce (Brooks) Mayhew of Carmel; a son Jimmy Dean Mayhew of Carmel; 2 daughters, Janet Mayhew Allen of Hermon, and Robin Thayer of Carmel; and twin sons, Joshua and Jeremy Hunt of Greenbush; 8 grandchildren, Rachel, Sherrilyn, Sarah, Linda, Natashia, Brandie, Michael, and Briana; a sister Linnis Mayhew Bushey, and a half sister, Avis Mayhew Shaw, both of Etna; several nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by many dear friends.

Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 64 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday, September 10th, with Rev. Harrison Sylvester of the Carmel Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Carmel.

DIANNA W. SMART
PLYMOUTH - Dianna W. Smart, 61, died September 7, 1999 at her Ridge Road residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 31, 1937 at Dexter the daughter of Harry and Amber (Landeen) Westgate. She was a graduate of Dexter High School, Class of 1956 and was a member of the Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church in Plymouth. She had been involved with church music all of her life, having played a church organ or piano for over 40 years. She was also active in several church ladies fellowships.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ted, of Plymouth; 2 sons, Kevin and wife Lynda of Sedgwick, and Dean and wife Rebecca of Guilford; a daughter, Carmelita and husband Mark Gray of Sangerville; 2 adopted daughters, Sandra and husband Vincent Basque, Patricia and husband Steve Relton, all of Nova Scotia; 16 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.

Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. The family will receive relatives and friends 5 - 7 P.M. Thursday, September 9th, at the Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church in Plymouth. Donations in her memory may be made to HealthReach Hospice, 212 Main Street, Waterville 04901. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 64 Main Street, Newport.

NORMAN P. CLUKEY
DEXTER - Norman P. Clukey, 66, died September 3, 1999 at a Bangor hospital. He was born August 31, 1933 at Dexter the son of Bernard and Corinne (Dyer) Clukey. He attended Dexter schools and was a sergeant in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He had worked for many years for the Town of Dexter as a cemetery employee. Norman was a communicant of St. Annes Catholic Church and was a member of Poulliot-Seavey Post # 53 American Legion.

He is survived by a brother Ronald Clukey of Houlton; 2 sisters, Nancy Goulette of Dexter and Patricia Stevens of Bangor; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Monday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M. Tuesday, September 7th, at St. Annes Catholic Church in Dexter with Rev. Paul Marquis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Maine, P.O. Box 8730, 175 Lancaster Street, Portland 04104.

TYLER RAY ROBINSON
PALMYRA - Tyler Ray Robinson, 4 months, died August 20, 1999 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born April 25, 1999 at Redington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan the son of Desi and Iva (Lawler) Robinson.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his twin brother Travis Dean Robinson, and sisters Jennifer Marie and Theresa May Robinson, all of Palmyra; maternal grandparents, Hector and Esther Lawler of Elgin, Oklahoma; paternal grandmothers, Patricia Berry of Canaan, and Luella Robinson of Corinna; aunts and uncles, Ronald and Amanda Cook of Etna, Roy and Sandy Lawler of Wasilla, Alaska, Nancy and Kenneth Lyons of Detroit, Donna and Matthew Short Virginia; and many cousins.

There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday at St. Albans Union Church with Rev. Lewis Bell officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra Village Cemetery.

ARNOLD T. GELLERSON
DOVER-FOXCROFT - Piscataquis County businessman and banker, A. T. Gellerson, died peacefully at his Pine Street home, Aug. 20, 1999, at the age of 99. He was born in Everett, Mass., May 14, 1900. His death ended nearly a century of financial activity which began in his youth in Dover-Foxcroft helping his father, Percy T. Gellerson, in his grain business and accompanying his mother, Frances Steele Gellerson, as she conducted her millinery business in area towns. He attended Dover-Foxcroft schools and graduated from Foxcroft Academy and Morse Business School in Hartford, Conn. After graduating from business school, he formally joined his father in the grain and feed business, later associating with M. A. Sanborn in the potato business and produce brokerage ventures. His many retail experiences included a grocery store (Central Market) and an appliance store. He also had an active involvement in local real estate, which eventually broadened to brokering industrial property in Maine and New England. He founded D & F Realty to handle real estate sales, built a number of new homes (including the Pinecrest development), and renovated and resold countless residential and commercial properties during his lifetime. A. T. had a lifelong interest in business development. A major contribution to the area economy was arranging the purchase from the Textron Company of two former American Woolen mills in Dover-Foxcroft, when he learned the mills were destined to be mothballed. He was eventually able to resell them to industries, which could fuel the local economy. One of them, Moosehead Manufacturing, continues as a healthy business today. He was president of Piscataquis Savings Bank in Dover-Foxcroft, later serving on the Board of Trustees of Bangor Savings Bank for many years after the merger of the two banks. He was appointed by Governor Edmund Muskie to serve on the newly created Maine Industrial Building Authority, a predecessor of FAME (Finance Authority of Maine). He served for 16 years on the MIBA, part of that time as vice chairman. He was a charter member and active participant of the Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft (founded in 1938), with a special interest in the club's swim program at Sebec Lake for area youngsters. He served as finance chairman for the Piscataquis County Republican Committee for many years. He was a longtime active board member of the Little Red Schoolhouse, a facility for special needs children and adults founded by his wife. In his later years he and his wife wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla., returning each spring to Dover-Foxcroft and summers at Sebec Lake. A. T. was a devoted husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting and fly fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beatrice Grant Gellerson of Dover-Foxcroft and his daughters, Sally Bartram of Dover-Foxcroft and Mary Adams and her husband, Thatcher of Garland. He was predeceased by a son, Rex Gellerson and a grandson, Greg Glover. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Gilman Glover, Susan Gellerson, Thatcher Adams Jr., Emily Adams; seven great-grandchildren, Leslie Glover, Kevin Glover, Brian Hanscom, Lisa Campbell, Perin Adams, Catherine "Cate" Adams, Thatcher Adams III.

Private services for the family will be held at the family lot in Dover Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to The Little Red Schoolhouse, P.O. Box 276, Dover-Foxcroft, 04426. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.

LERA M. GOULD
EXETER - Lera M. Gould, 84, wife of the late Arnold Gould, died August 21, 1999 at the Corinna residence of her niece and nephew in law, Connie and Irvin Devoe. She was born June 29, 1915 at Garland the daughter of Eugene and Sadie (Scott) McDonald. She attended Garland schools and had been employed at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Exeter Full Gospel Church. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by a daughter Mildred, and a brother Frederick.

She is survived by 2 brothers, Arnold McDonald of Newport, and Linwood Scott of Hudson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday, August 24th, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, Exeter Road, Corinna, where friends may call from 1 P.M. until the time of services. Burial will be in Crowell Cemetery, Cider Hill Road, Exeter. Donations in her memory may be made to Health Reach Hospice; P.O. Box 1568; Pittsfield 04967.

DARRIN JACKSON
WATERVILLE - Darrin Jackson, 33, husband of Lori (Royal) Jackson, died August 12, 1999 at a Pittsfield healthcare facility. He served in the U. S. Army and had been employed at Thayer Hospital prior to his illness.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport.

KARL J. HARRINGTON
DOVER-FOXCROFT, Karl J. Harrington, 48, died 08-08-1999 at a Lewiston hospital. He was born 01-29-1951 in Bangor, son of Clarence V. and Marjorie (Junck) Harrington. He was a member of Local 1996 for over 20 years and worked as a carpenter throughout the State of Maine and New Hampshire. Karl loved the woods and nature and trapped for all of his young life until the fur market more or less folded. He was an avid hunter, both with a bow and firearm, and also enjoyed fishing and telling tales of fishing, hunting and logging.

He was predeceased by his mother in 1988 and his father in 1994. He leaves behind a daughter, Jessica Harrington of Dexter and her mother Lynn Harrington of Dover-Foxcroft; 2 brothers, Kirk Harrington of Sangerville and Kennedy Harrington and his wife Julie of Parkman; a nephew Luke Harrington; a great uncle Lee Harrington of Guilford.

Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 PM at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Norsworthy officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Dexter.

PAUL A. "SPIDER" CHADBOURNE
ETNA - Paul A. "Spider" Chadbourne, 47, died August 8, 1999 at his Route 2 residence. He was born April 12, 1952 at Hartland, the son of Almond and Emmaleene (Stickney) Chadbourne. He graduated from PCHS, class of 1970 and after attending several vocational technical colleges became a lab technician. He had been employed as a lab technician at the Madison Sewage Treatment Plant, and later at Guilford Industries for many years. He was a partner in Spider's & Doc's motorcycle Sales and Service in Etna and will be remembered for his love of motorcycles.

He is survived by his father, Almond F. Chadbourne of Harmony; a son, Troy Chadbourne of Bath; a brother, David Chadbourne of Harmony; 2 sisters, Sharon and her husband, George Bagley of Wellington and Linda Pender of Oklahoma City, OK; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 64 Main Street, Newport. A graveside committal service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, at the Chadbourne Cemetery, Harmony.

SYLVIA T. BAUER
Sylvia T. Bauer died on July 20, 1999 at The Evergreens Nursing Home in Moorestown, NJ. Mrs. Bauer (nee Tatem) formerly resided in Ocean City, New Jersey and Onawa, Maine. She was the granddaughter of Henry Dyer Moore who was born in Steuben, Maine and who settled in Haddonfield, NJ after serving in the Civil War. Mrs. Bauer spent each summer at the family summer home in Onawa for the past ninety years. She graduated from The Grier School, Tyrone, PA and was a 1928 graduate of Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA. She was married to the late Harry A. Bauer who was widely known in Piscataquis County as "The 2-Dollar Man" from his characteristic of using 2-dollar bills. She was active in the DAR and a member of The Pilgrim John Howland Society, The Mayflower Society, and National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.

She is survived by a brother, Robert M. Tatem of Cherry Hill, NJ; two sons, Albert T. and Henry F. both of Haddonfield, NJ seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
