BARBARA L. FAIRBROTHER
GUILFORD, Barbara L. Fairbrother, 70, died Feb. 12, 2001 at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 3, 1930 in Monson, daughter of Lynwood and Ella (Preble) Leighton of Willimantic. Barbara was very active in the United Methodist Church in Guilford. She belonged to the Lord and Ladies Square Dance Club, the Square Dance Camper's Association and the Guilford Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Fairbrother of Guilford; son, David Fairbrother of Guilford; three daughters and their husbands, Judy and Charles Dunehew of Illinois, Kathy and Larry Stoddard of Scarborough, Sandy and Rod Ayers of Rhode Island; a brother and his wife, Milton and Barbara Leighton of New Jersey; three sisters and their husbands, Ruth and William Dauphinee of Willimantic, Carol and Lawrence Budden of Greenville and Diane and Ernest Bonsey of Dover-Foxcroft; five grandchildren, Bruce and his wife, Jacqueline Dunehew and their son, Jaiden, twin granddaughters, Kimberley and Stephanie Stoddard and Joshua and Allyson Ayers; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Friday at the United Methodist Church of Guilford with Rev. Dr. Margaret "Dodie" Stowe officiating. Spring burial will be in the Lawn cemetery in Guilford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 267, Guilford, ME 04443.

PHILLIP F. WALKER
DETROIT - Phillip F. Walker, 47, died February 13, 2001 in Pittsfield surrounded by loved ones. He was born November 15, 1953 at Hartland, the son of Frank and Elva (Russell) Walker. He graduated from Mt. View High School in Thorndike, Class of 1973. He was employed at Detroit Salvage until his retirement due to failing health.

He is survived by a son, Leon and his wife, Jessie Walker; a daughter, Angela and her husband, Clint King, all of Pittsfield; 5 brothers, Gerald and his wife, June Walker of Kittery, Raymond Eldridge of Stetson, Michael and his wife, Glenis Walker and Robin Walker, all of Plymouth, Dale and his wife, Liana Walker of Troy; a sister, Anita and her husband, Ron Latham of Plymouth; 2 grandsons, Clint King and Dillon Walker; a granddaughter, Amber King; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6- 8 P.M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 A.M, Friday, February 16th with the Rev. William Johnson officiating. Spring burial will be in Rogers Cemetery, Troy. Donations may be madein his memory to the American Cancer Society, 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011.

JOHN B. GUSTIN II
CORINNA JOHN B. GUSTIN II, 8, passed away February 13, 2001 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born November 24, 1992 at Bangor the son of John and Donna (Harvewood) Gustin. He had been a student at Palmyra, and St. Albans schools.

He is lovingly remembered by his parents; 2 brothers, Joshua and Steven; and a sister Amber; paternal grandparents Gerald and Emma Jean Gustin; maternal grandmother, Karen Harvewood; and maternal great grandmother, Lee Harvewood; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, February 17th at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, with the Rev. Matthew Bagley officiating. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 1 P.M. until time of services. Spring burial will be in the family lot, Higgins Cemetery, Corinna.

EARL G. ZAMBONA
ETNA - Earl G. Zambona, 57, died unexpectedly February 17, 2001 in Plymouth. He was born April 26, 1943 at Lewiston the son of Otto and Marguerite (Keane) Zambona. He graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1963. Earl was employed at Eastland Woolen Mill, American Felt Slipper, and retired from Eastern Fine Paper in Brewer last year due to failing health. He will be remembered as an avid motorcyclist. Earl was a member of United Bikers of Maine, and Harley Owners Group.

He is survived by his wife, Sally (Baker) Zambona, a son, William Zambona, and a grand-daughter, Jessi Zambona, all of Etna.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, February 21st, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. A private family graveside committal service will be held in the spring at Corinna Center Cemetery.

RICHARD H. EDDY
DEXTER - Richard H. Eddy, 59, died February 17, 2001 at his Zion's Hill Road residence. He was born January 20, 1942 at Dexter the son of George and Beverly Eddy. He graduated from Dexter High School, Class of 1964 and served in the U. S. Army. At the time of his death, he was employed as a machinist at Dorr's Farm Equipment in Bangor. Richard was a member of the VFW, Penobscot Lodge #39 AF & AM, Wassookeag Chapter #44 OES, Central Council #18 Royal Arch Chapter, and the Anah Temple Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Watson) Eddy, his father, George "Steve" Eddy, a brother, David and his wife Pam Eddy, a sister Joan and husband Gary Bennett, all of Dexter; and 4 nephews.

Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter, where funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday, February 21st. Spring burial will be in Jackson Corner Cemetery, Sangerville. Memorial donations may be made to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital, c/o Anah Temple Shrine, P.O. Box 735, Bangor, ME 04402.

PAUL E. CLUKEY
DEXTER Paul E. Clukey, 85, died February 17, 2001 at his home in Dexter, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 30, 1915 at Dexter the only child of Delphis J. and G. Marion (Dyer) Clukey. He graduated From N.H. Fay High School in 1933. Paul once managed the A & P store in Dexter, worked a small dairy farm in Garland with his family, and later worked as a millwright at paper mills in the northeast. He was a member of the Carpenters and Millwrights Union Local #1996. During his retirement, he enjoyed assisting friends with home Projects. He also drove vehicles for the local Ford dealership. He enjoyed the many gifts Of Lake Wassookeag including snowmobiling, ice fishing, and boating with his wife Helen, family and friends on their pontoon boat. He also enjoyed going to the Dexter Club, cribbage parties and traveling around the country with Helen. One of Paul's most cherished accomplishments was helping to build his son Paul's home in Garland.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan (Clukey) Haggerty of Winterport; a daughter in law, Merrill (Warren) Clukey of Garland; 2 step-daughters, Diane Herring of Hermon, and Susan (Herring) Bogle of Palmyra; a step-son, Michael Herring of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren, Dennis and Carlene Haggerty of Augusta, Patrick and Pam Haggerty of Durham, Michael and Danielle Haggerty of Old Town, Sarah Haggerty of Portland, Elizabeth Haggerty of Somerville, MA, Wendy (Clukey) and Leo Bonesteel of Poestenkill, NY, Brent and Diana Clukey of Austin, TX, Kimberly Bogle of Richmond, VA, Stephanie (Herring) Waite of Boise, ID, and Shawn Herring of Boise, ID; 8 great Grandchildren. Paul was predeceased by his wife Helen in 2000, and a son, Paul E. Clukey in 1993. Paul will also be remembered by special friends, Sally Thompson, Bob and Jane Hoppe, Bob and Bev Tillson, Fred and Geneva LaFountain, and George And Melba Warren.

Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Friday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter, where services will be held 10 A.M. Saturday, February 24th. Spring Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. BARBARA S. ADKINS
DOVER-FOXCROFT - Barbara S. Adkins, 76, wife of the late Clyde Adkins, died Feb. 21, 2001, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 6, 1924, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Reuben and Gertrude (Brawn) Bennett. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dover-Foxcroft.

Barbara is survived by a daughter, Mary-ann Morgan and her husband, Earl of Enfield, Conn.; a son, Clyde Adkins Jr. and his wife, Tonitte of Dexter; four grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua Morgan of Enfield, Conn., Trixie Nelson and Calvin Adkins of Dexter.

Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, with the Rev. Roxy Moses officiating. Spring burial will be in the family lot in Lee Cemetery.

FREDERICK P. MCCOMB
GARLAND, Frederick P. McComb, 61, died Feb. 24, 2001 at his home in Garland. He was born April 1, 1939, in Bangor, son of Fred and Alice (McComb) Lee. He worked in the woods for many years.

He is survived by his brother, Wendall McComb of Garland; a sister, Sarah Libby of Florida; several nieces and nephews; close friends, Troy and Cheryl Dyer and Beverly Dyer all of Dexter.

Friends may call Tues. 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held Wed 1 PM at the funeral home with spring burial will be in the Greeley cemetery in Garland.

JOSEPH D. TRIPALDI
ST. ALBANS, Joseph D. Tripaldi, 90, died Feb. 24, 2001 at his home in St. Albans. He was born May 27, 1910, in Torrington, Connecticut, son of Vincent and Maria (Lavarlo) Tripaldi. During WWII, he worked for American Brass in Torrington, and later served as First Selectman and Road Commissioner in Harwinton, Connecticut. He moved to Florida and was an inhalation and orthopedic therapist at Winter Park Memorial. In 1972 Joe moved to St. Albans and served as cemetery sexton for 20 years. He was a member of Corinthian #95 AF&AM, Evening Star #189 OES and the Hartland Full Gospel Church all of Hartland. He was also a member the Hartland-St. Albans Senior Citizens.

He was predeceased by his wife, Wilda (Lynn) Tripaldi in 1994. He is survived by a brother, Dominico Anthony Tripaldi of Torrington, Connecticut; a niece Joan Uricchio and two nephews, Vincent Battistoni and John Battistoni all of Connecticut. He was also survived by special friends, Richard and Pat Weymouth of St. Albans who helped to care for him.

Friends may call 6-8 PM Monday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport. Masonic graveside services will be held in the spring at the Crocker cemetery in St. Albans.

STEPHEN L. JACOBS
DEXTER, Stephen L. Jacobs, husband of Isabel A. Jacobs, died February 26, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. Mr. Jacobs was born July 28, 1922 in Boston, Mass., son of Helen Foster and Alfred W. Jacobs of Hingham, Mass. He was the tenth generation of the Jacobs family to be raised in Hingham. After graduating from Hingham High School in June 1940 he attended the University of Maine at Orono graduating in June 1947 with a BS in Forestry, however he retained his affiliation with his original class of 1944. He enlisted in the Army Reserve in May of 1942 and was called to active duty with the University of Maine Advanced Infantry ROTC in June 1943. Following Infantry basic training at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, he graduated from the Armored OCS at Ft. Knox, Kentucky in May 1944. He and Isabel Ansell of Dexter, were married June12, 1944 in Dexter. While serving as an infantry instructor at Camp Roberts, California he was ordered overseas in December 1944. He served as a rifle platoon leader with Company C, 129th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division on Luzon, Philippine Islands. His platoon was the first US unit to enter the city of Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines, in April 1945. Wounded on June 4, 1945, he returned to duty with the 129th Infantry in August of 1945. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Bronze Star. He returned to the states and mustered out in March 1946. He served in the Maine Army National Guard for eight years resigning with the rank of Captain from Headquarters 240th AAA Group MENG in 1958. Following several years working as a forester he started teaching science at S.D. Hanson High School in Buxton in 1956. In August 1958 he joined the faculty of Gould Academy in Bethel, where he taught Physics and Forestry. At Gould, he developed one of the first high school forestry courses in the state. In August 1963 he received a Master of Education degree from the University of Maine at Orono. In August 1966 he joined the faculty of Dexter Regional High School in Dexter, where he taught Physics and Chemistry for seventeen years, retiring in June 1982. He was one of the first Trustees of the Dexter Utility District and served on the Dexter Planning Board. He was active in the First Universalist Church in Dexter and sang in it's choir for many years. He also sang with the Shiretown Singers of Dover-Foxcroft and in the Dexter Community Chorus.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Isabel (Ansell) Jacobs of Dexter; three sons and their families; Richard and his wife Linda Walden and their daughter Katherine of Modesto, California; Lawrence and his wife Brenda of Corinna and Branda’s three children, Bonnie Simcock and husband Jason of Vermont, Anna Searway and husband Tom, son Hazen and daughter Molly all of Waterboro and her son Ensign Joseph Satterfield, US Navy; Charles and his wife Linda Smith-Dyer and their daughter Lauren of Winthrop, and Linda's sons, Skip Dyer and Rick Dyer and his wife Jane of Boston; Mr. Jacobs' brother, Foster and his wife Lorraine live in Owls Head.

A service of remembrance will be held 10 AM Saturday March 3, at the First Universalist Church in Dexter with Rev. Adam Tierney officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund, First Universalist Church of Dexter, P.O. Box 294, Dexter, ME 04930. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.

CARMEN (BEAN) CRONKHITE
CARMEN (BEAN) CRONKHITE CORINTH - Carmen (Bean) Cronkhite, 57, died Feb. 27, 2001, at her Corinth home surrounded by her family, and now has joined her mother in heaven. She was born April 6, 1943, in East Corinth, the daughter of Franklin and A. Clarissa (French) Bean. Carmen graduated from Corinth Academy and was a member of the United Baptist Church of Corinth. She made a home for her family while traveling with her husband, who served in the military, in Germany and Alaska.

She is survived by her father and his wife, Franklin and Geraldine Bean of Corinth; her husband, Adrian Cronkhite Sr. of Corinth; five children, Carolyn and her husband, Stephen Chambers of Dover, Del., Adrian and his wife, Alesia Cronkhite Jr. of Monument, Colo., Susan and her husband, Michael Laferriere of Veazie, Tammy Cronkhite and her husband, Brent Gire of Seattle, Wash., Darrel Cronkhite of Corinth; four brothers, Franklin Bean, Jr. of N.H., Derwood and Gregory Bean, both of Glenburn, Alden Bean of Bradford; three sisters, Charlene Chesley and Lorayne Strout, both of Corinth, Christine Bean of Mass.; twelve grandchildren, Eric, Scott, Allison Chambers, Jakob and Alaina Cronkhite, Heather and Hillary Laferriere, Dale, Denise and Danny Roderick, Hayley Cronkhite and Marion Olivia Nickerson Cronkhite; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Alice Clarissa (French) Bean.

Friends may call 3:30-5:30 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Baptist Church of Corinth with the Rev. Harold Wheeler, interim pastor, officiating. Spring Interment will be in Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth. GERALD BYRON SHAW
EXETER Gerald Byron Shaw, 52, died February 28, 2001 at his Cider Hill Road residence after a long illness. He was born January 7, 1949 at Bangor the son of Byron and Alta (Sands) Shaw. He attended schools in Corinna and Corinth and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He will be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman, and also loved his dogs. He retired from the Dexter Shoe Company due to failing health.

In addition to his wife, Myrna (Merchant) Shaw, he is survived by his mother and step-father, Alta and Robert Gould, Sr. of Exeter; a son, Eric of Exeter; a step-son, Forrest Davis, Jr. of St. Albans; 2 step-daughters, Cherrie Kane of Sullivan and Joy Sherburne of Dexter; 2 brothers, Rodney Shaw of Exeter, and Roger Shaw of Raynham, Mass.; 2 sisters, Brenda Shaw of Hartland, and Arlene Gould of Stetson; a step-brother Robert Gould, Jr. of St. Albans; and 2 step-sisters, Tammy Goulette of Corinna, and Ellimay Ham of St. Albans; 10 grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews; 2 great nephews, a great niece, 3 uncles, 3 aunts, and many close friends.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, where funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Monday, March 5th, with the Rev. Barry Buzzell of the Garland Community Baptist Church officiating. Spring committal services and burial will be in the family lot, Exeter Center Cemetery.

DOROTHY (STACKPOLE) MCALLISTER
NEWPORT Dorothy P. McAllister, 95, died March 1, 2001 at a Pittsfield hospital following a brief illness. She was born March 11, 1905 at Palmyra the daughter of Delbert and Myrtle (Foster) Stackpole. She graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1924, and graduated from Gorham Normal School. She taught school in Lovell, where she met and married Theodore McAllister. He predeceased her in 1968. She was also predeceased by a son Carlton McAllister in 1963, and a brother, Donald Stackpole in 1984. She was a member of the Newport Senior Extension and Newport Senior Citizens. Dot enjoyed her friends, and her flower gardens, and will be remembered for a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her son Dale and his wife Hattie McAllister of Grosse Isle, Michigan and Newport; a daughter Ruth and husband Harold Condon of Carmel; a brother, Foster Stackpole of Newport; 5 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of special friends, among them, her dear neighbors,Harlan and Rita Braley.

Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Monday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday , March 6th , with Pastor Al Worden officiating. A reception and luncheon will follow the funeral services at Dinsmore Hall, High Street Congregational Church, Newport. Spring burial will be in the family lot, Pittsfield Village Cemetery.

MADELINE EVELYN BUBAR
PALMYRA - Madeline Evelyn Bubar, 90, died March 1, 2001 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born September 30, 1910 at Canterbury, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Earl and Catherine (Wright) Dickinson. She graduated from Canterbury High School and Houlton Business College. She was employed as a bookkeeper for J. A. Brown & Company of Houlton, and was also assistant librarian at Pittsfield Library. Madeline also assisted her husband Milton in the management of their real estate development company. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Newport. Madeline was a lifelong member of the Rebekahs and the Grange, and was a former member of the Pythian Sisters.

She was predeceased by Milton on October 29, 1999. She is survived by 2 daughters, Kathryn Marsh and her husband Eric of Camden, Virginia Hopkins and her husband Dale of Etna; 3 sons, Richard Bubar and his wife Marian of Newport, Clifford Bubar and his wife Lee-Ellen of Lakeland, FL, and Weston Bubar and wife Carmela of Hartland; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, March 8th, with the Rev. Michael Stephenson and the Rev. William Stone officiating. Spring burial will be in Corinna Village Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Calvary Baptist Church, 39 Grove Street, Newport 04953.
