DWIGHT E. NORSWORTHY
GARLAND, Dwight E. Norsworthy, 49, died March 20, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born January 14, 1952, in Charleston, son of Harley and Bertha (Robbins) Norsworthy. He worked in the woods for most of his life.

He is survived by his mother of Wesley; 2 sons, Jeffrey and Joseph; a daughter, Jennie; 4 brothers, Dale, Donald, Delbert and Douglas; 5 sisters, Charlotte, Rita, Lillian, Phyllis and Linda; one grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 10 AM Thursday, March 22, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter, with Rev. Rick Libby officiating. Spring burial will be in the Corinthian cemetery in E. Corinth.

GEORGE C. MATHIES
NEWPORT - George C. Mathies, 64, died March 20, 2001 at his Stetson Road residence following a long illness. He was born March 5, 1937 at Greenwich, CT the son of George and Helen (Whittmer) Mathies. He spent the majority of his youth in Greenwich and Port Chester, NY. He graduated from Greenwich High School, where he played football, and began his pursuit of art and carpentry, two of his loves. He served in the U. S. Army. On January 18, 1969 he married Aliene Kempton. They moved to Stamford, CT where they raised their seven children. In 1980, they moved to Newport, Maine. George was a devout Catholic, and a dedicated and loving father. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield. Through the years, he was employed by Palmer Electric and Pitney Bowes in Stamford, CT. Later, he spent several years with AC Electric in Bangor and General Electric in Pittsfield. He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

He was predeceased by his wife, Aliene, September 1, 1997. He is survived by his children; Christine Mathies of Pittsfield and her children, Craig, Christopher, Kara and Kyle; Barbara Boyd of Caswell; Eric Mathies and his wife, Victoria of Standish and their children, Erica and Drew; Susan Mathies of Monrovia, CA; Kurt Mathies and his wife, Julia of Hampden and their son, Cameron; Alex Mathies of Burlington, VT and his fiancé, Elizabeth Steward; and Karl Mathies of Newport; a sister, Rose Suber of Wewahitchka, FL ; a sister-in-law, Barbara Santasieri of Yonkers, NY; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M. Saturday, March 24th at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Pittsfield with the Reverend C. James Martel officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to St. Agnes School, P. O. Box 369, Pittsfield, ME 04967, or Sebasticook Valley Hospital, 99 Grove Hill, Pittsfield, ME 04967 or Childrens’ Medical Center, 12 Charter Oak Place, Hartford, CT 06106.

FRANK M. GOULD
GUILFORD - Frank M. Gould, 87, died March 22, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born Sept. 14, 1913 in Boxford, Mass., son of Frank and Florence (Brown) Gould. He served in the US Navy during WWII and then worked for many years as a cabinetmaker. Frank had a private pilot's license and loved flying. He also enjoyed hunting and when company came to visit, loved to take them looking for moose.

He was predeceased by his wife Gloria (Clukey) Gould and a daughter Pamela Armstrong. He is survived by two sons, Leonard R. Gould of Beverly, Mass. and Donald Gould of Danvers, Mass.; a daughter, Marjorie Reynolds of Morrilton, Arkansas; two brothers, Ralph Gould and Everett Gould both of Boxford, Mass.; a sister, Evelyn Lennox of Middleton, Mass., and five grandchildren.

Spring burial will be in the Village cemetery in Sangerville. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

FLOYD S. HARRINGTON
GUILFORD AND ANDREWS, TX, Floyd S. Harrington, Sr. 87, died March 27, 2001 at the Andrews Health Center in Andrews, Texas. He was born Dec. 29, 1913 in Parkman, son of Harry and Laura (Stevens) Harrington. He operated a shoe repair shop in Guilford for many years and later moved to Bangor where he worked at Standard Shoe Factory.

He was predeceased by his wife, Zona (MacDonald) Harrington in 1997. He is survived by two sons, Floyd Harrington Jr. of Guilford and Richard Harrington of Corinna, two daughters, Dorothy Wilson and Sonya Dillard both of Texas; a brother, Maynard Harrington of Dexter; many Grandchildren.

Friends may call 2-4 PM Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Spring graveside services will be held at Lawn cemetery in Guilford.

CHESLEY P. LOVELL
GUILFORD, Chesley P. Lovell, 82, died March 28, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born January 2, 1919, in Guilford, son of Ervin and Una (True) Lovell. After graduating from Guilford High School in 1937, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He graduated from Chicago Aeronautical University as a mechanic and later volunteered in the Glider program, where he instructed in Lubbock, Texas. After seven years in the service, he attended Bechler School of Watch making and was self-employed at Melanson Jewelry in Guilford. After losing his business by fire in 1970, he was employed as a clerk at the Guilford Post Office until his retirement. He was a member of the Guilford Fire Dept. from 1952 to 1988 and served in the offices of Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief.

He is survived by his wife, Marion (Ridley) Lovell of Guilford; a son and his wife, Barry and Jo-Ann Lovell of Monson; two grandchildren, Stephen Lovell and Stephanie Watts; four great grandchildren.

At his request there will be no public services. Private graveside services will be held in the spring at the Village cemetery in Abbot.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Guilford Fire Dept. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

ELMINA R. LANE
PITTSFIELD, Elmina R. Lane, 94, died March 29, 2001 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born July 2, 1906, in Stetson, daughter of Alvie and Jessie (Dresser) Brown. She worked for several of the local businesses including Stitham's Cafe, C. Hollis Lane Lumber Co, Berry's Drug Store, and Pittsfield Coal & Oil. She was a member of the Stetson Grange, the Pittsfield Rebekahs and the S&P Club.

She is survived by a brother, Almon Brown of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, C. Hollis Lane, two brothers, Claude and Allen and a sister, Leora French.

Friends may call from 1-2 PM Sat at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will follow at 2pm with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Burial will be in the Pittsfield Village cemetery later this spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

ROBERT L. CHURCH
SANGERVILLE - Robert L. Church, 68, died March 31, 2001 at a Dexter health care facility. He was born Apr. 17, 1932 in Sangerville, son of Harry and Doris (Folsom) Church. He worked for many years Maine State Dept. of Transportation.

He is survived by a sister, Ruth Melvin of Parkman and a brother, Roland Church of Vermont, several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public services at this time. Spring burial will be in the Village cemetery in Sangerville. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

LEONE M. HUFF
GUILFORD AND SANGERVILLE, Leone M. Huff, 95, died March 31, 2001 at a Greenville nursing home. She was born September 5, 1905 in Ft. Kent, daughter of Joseph and Martha (Albert) Babin. She graduated from the Madawaska Training School in Ft Kent, Presque Isle Normal School and then from Castine Normal School. She taught school in her younger years and later worked at Hardwood Products in Guilford for over 40 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sangerville and a member of the Catholic Ladies Club. She was proud to be a member of the Maine and National Teacher's Associations. She was so appreciative of her friends and neighbors who helped make it possible for her to live alone for so many years.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Duane and Kathy Huff of Guilford and Florida, Wayne and Melanie Huff of Monson, and Dale and Ann Huff of Millinocket and Abbot Village; a sister, Helen Klemek of Ohio; a brother, Wilfred Babin of Monson; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; a cousin, Corinne Bearce of Dover-Foxcroft; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Orman Huff; a sister, Verna; a brother, Lawrence; and a grandson, Doug.

Friends may call 7-9 PM Thursday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 AM Friday, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Sangerville with Fr. James Robichaud officiating. Spring burial will be in the Rural Grove cemetery in Dover-Foxcroft. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make donations to the Catholic Ladies Club, c/o Martha Danforth, P.O. Box 675, Guilford, ME 04443.

HARVEY O. CRAIG
MASARDIS - Harvey O. Craig, 82, died April 3, 2001, at Caribou. He was born in Masardis, May 22, 1918, the son of Harvey and Fannie (Rockwell) Craig. Mr. Craig served with the U.S. Army as a surgical technician in Panama during World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter in the Masardis/Ashland area for many years. He was a charter member of the LeBlanc-Junkins Post No. 9699 VFW, was a member of the Mountain View Odd Fellows Lodge, and was also a member of the former Rockwell Baptist Church.

He is survived by three brothers, two sisters-in-law, Gerald and Pauline Craig of Masardis, T. Roger Craig of Ashland and Vernon and Earnestine Craig of Masardis; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Vernon Robinson of Masardis; a sister-in-law, Lillian Craig; many nieces and nephews, and a great-grandniece, Cora Campbell, who challenged him at cribbage and talked with him about baseball, especially his favorite team, the Red Sox. Mr. Craig was predeceased by three brothers, Lyman, Clyde and Cleo; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Craig and Barbara Craig. Harvey was an avid outdoorsman, who truly enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Friends may call at Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 37 Exchange St., Ashland, 11:30 a.m. until time of services on Thursday. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Caton officiating. Interment will be in Masardis Municipal Cemetery.

Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Craig may do so through the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes are available through the funeral home. After the service, the family invites everyone to the VFW in Ashland for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

ZENA D. DAVIS
GUILFORD, Zena D. Davis, 75, died April 7, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born August 23, 1925 in Willimantic, daughter of Vance and Nellie (McKenney) Leighton.

She is survived by Husband of 56 years, Webber H. Davis of Guilford; a son and his wife Edwin and Elaine Davis of Guilford and a daughter and her husband, Roxanne and Wayne Smith of Marlborough, Conn; 2 granddaughters, Chiantel Davis and her fiancé Mark Beaumont both of Baltimore and Danielle Davis and her fiancé Jason Goggin and their son Matthew Goggin all of Guilford; a sister June Miller of Brooksville, Florida and a brother, Reginald Leighton of Spring Hill, Florida. She was predeceased by a sister Maxine Hughes.

There will be no public services at this time. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

MERLE F. LITTLEFIELD, JR
SANGERVILLE, Merle F. Littlefield, Jr. 74, died April 11, 2001 at his home in Sangerville. He was born Nov. 3, 1926 in Guilford, son of Merle Sr. and Eva (Whittier) Littlefield. He served in the US Navy during WWII. After the war he worked in the Greenville area cruising timber and working in the woods. In the late 50's Bill moved to Sangerville and worked at Hardwood Products Co. in Guilford until his retirement in 1995.

He is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Roger and Sharon Littlefield of Arkansas and William and Kathy Littlefield of Guilford; 4 daughters and their husbands, Karen and Andrew Todd and Ronda and George Sprague all of Guilford, Linda Littlefield of Sangerville and Bonnie Lindsay of Guilford; two brothers, Drexel Littlefield of South Carolina and William Littlefield and his wife Dorothy of Abbot; a sister and her husband Edwina and David Morrill of New Hampshire; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Fri 6-8 at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held Sat 10am at the funeral home with Joseph Pensiero, former director of the Good Samaritan Mission in Monson, officiating. Burial will be in the Village cemetery in Sangerville later in the spring. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Foxcroft Veterinarian Service, P.O. Box 418, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.

ELLEN M. CARMODY
ETNA, PLYMOUTH & LAKELAND, FLORIDA Ellen Mae Carmody, 67, wife of Roger Carmody, was called home on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at a Lakeland, Florida hospital. She was born May 6, 1933 at Etna the daughter of Albert and Ivadean (Harris) Curtis.

In addition to her husband of Lakeland, FL, she is survived by 2 sons, Verne Gray of Clearwater, FL, and Harold Henderson, Jr. of Dexter; 2 daughters, Christine Hewitt and Ann Marie Carmody, both of Richmond, VA; her grandchildren, Kathy Middleton and Aaron Gray of Stafford, CT; Jeanine Henderson of Canton, OH, Crystal, Stephanie, and Timothy Hewitt of Richmond, VA; 2 sisters, Florence Dodge of Waterville, and Marion Smith of Newport, NH; a brother, Perley Curtis, Sr. of Exeter. Ellen will also be fondly remembered by her dear cousin Christy Rines and good friend Vivian Stevens. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Martin and Albion Curtis, and 2 sisters, Dorothy Carlton and Linnie Curtis.

Friends may call from 5-8 PM Tuesday, April 17th, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. Graveside committal services will be held later in the spring at the family lot, Detroit Village Cemetery, with the Rev. Phyllis Webber officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist the family, in care of Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, ME 04953.

REVEREND HENRIETTA (BARLOW) HOLMES
TULSA, OK. - Reverend Henrietta (Barlow) Holmes, born November 30, 1918 in Irvine, KY, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, April 14, 2001 at 11:35 AM in Tulsa, OK. She and her husband, the Rev. Vernon T. Holmes (December 21, 1917 – December 21, 1979), were both graduates of LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles and co-pastored Foursquare Gospel Churches in Ripley, NY; Akron, OH; Mansfield, OH; Cleveland, OH; and Gardiner, ME. They served on the founding faculty of Mt. Vernon (OH) Bible College from 1957-1960. She also was part of the library staff at MVBC (OH) and LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles, CA.

Henrietta is survived by her brother, Milton Barlow of Coos Bay, OR and her sister, Alice Worley of Murietta, CA; three children: Rev. Charlotte Alice Meyers of Tulsa, OK, Rev. John C. Holmes of Wheaton, MD, and Rev. Marilyn Louise Swartz of Lynchburg, VA; seven grandchildren; six great-grand children; and a host of friends.

Memorial services are being arranged at Angelus Temple in Los Angeles, on/or about April 27. Her remains will be buried with her husband's at Englewood Cemetery, in Englewood, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in the memory of Henrietta B. Holmes be sent to the scholarship fund for LIFE Bible College East (formerly MVBC), 900 Life Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
