RHODA F. WATSON
PALMYRA - Rhoda F. (Bragg) Watson, 47, died August 6, 2001 at her Route 100 residence. She was born October 18, 1953 at Hartland the daughter of Percy and Fern (Rice) Bragg. She had worked in a local shoe shop, but was most recently employed by the Cianbro Corporation in Pittsfield; where she truly enjoyed working. She liked traveling, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her husband and their special companion, Shelby, her little Papillion dog. She was predeceased by her father, Percy Bragg, and a brother, Gordon Bragg.

In addition to her mother of Pittsfield, she is survived by her husband William "Bill" Watson of Palmyra; a daughter Angela Watson of Waterville; and two sisters: her beloved and special sister, Beulah Wyman, and Beverly Richardson, both of Palmyra; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, August 11th, at the Newport Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. G. Martin Gentzler, Pastor of the First Church of The Nazarene, Bangor, officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra Village Cemetery. Floral arrangements are welcome, or memorial donations may be made in her memory to Cancer Care of Maine, care of Eastern Maine Charities, Box 404, Bangor 04402. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

MARGARET FRANCES GOODWIN
DEXTER - Margaret Frances Goodwin, 88, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in Dexter, with her family at her side. She was born Oct. 13, 1912, in Portland, the only child of Alfred J. and Lillie Louise (Sumner) Cobb. When she was a child, her family moved to Salem, Mass., where she graduated from Salem High School in 1929. Margaret went on to Dean Junior College before training and then working at Boston Floating Hospital as an R.N. In 1943, she married Rivington S. Goodwin and together, they raised a daughter, Gloria Jean and a son, Richard in Danvers, Mass. Margaret worked for many years as a private duty nurse for extremely ill patients before the creation of intensive care units. Over the last 15 years of her career, prior to her retirement in 1975, she was a charge nurse in the nursery at Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers, where one of her happiest memories was caring for her twin granddaughters from the minute they were born. She had a lifelong passion for books, movies and being at the ocean. In her last years, living in Dexter, with her son and daughter-in-law, she enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching "her" chipmunks, squirrels and birds. But most of all, Margaret had a love of people, making friends easily. Throughout her illness, she showed a sense of humor, grace and courage and left behind an example of how a life should be lived.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1971; and by her daughter, Gloria Priante in 1987. She is survived by her son, Rick; and his wife, Sharron of Dexter; granddaughters, Amy Louise Walkowicz of Methuen, Mass. and Beth Ann Rizzo of Woburn, Mass.; as well as great-granddaughter, Samantha; and great-grandsons, Nicholas and Christopher; and her cat, Callie.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Wadsworth cemetery in Danvers. For those who wish, contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. in Margaret's memory. Arrangements are in the care of Thompson Funeral Home, 30 St. Albans Road, Corinna.

OMAR W. ROBERTS SR
DEXTER and CORINNA - Graveside committal services for Omar W. Roberts Sr., will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the family lot, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.

ALBERT "SKIP" GRAHAM
GREENVILLE - Albert "Skip" Graham, 69, died Aug. 8, 2001, at a Greenville nursing home. He was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Greenville, the son of Harold and Alvina (Tanguay) Graham. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked in the restaurant business in Bar Harbor. He was a member of the Cecil R. Cole Post No. 94 American Legion for 39 years.

He is survived by three brothers, Leon and John Graham of Monson and Urban Graham of Greenville; one sister, Anne Watkins of Orrington; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A time of visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at McCrory Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Greenville with Fr. Ed Morin, presiding. Military burial will be in the family lot in Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Skip's memory may be made to the C.A. Dean Nursing Home, P.O. Box 1109, Greenville, ME 04441. Arrangements by McCrory Funeral Home, Greenville.

OMAR W. ROBERTS SR
PARKMAN, Carrie Hackmann, 102, died August 11, 2001 in Parkman. She was born June 7, 1899 in Elgin, Iowa daughter of Christian and Rosa (Hiltbrunner) Freiburghaus. She graduated from High School in Elgin, Iowa and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. She was a longtime member of the Elgin Baptist Church. For the past nine years she lived in Walden Place in Iowa City and only recently moved to Parkman, Maine.

She is survived by a son, the Rev. David Hackmann and his wife Barbara of Parkman; 4 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Gustav Hackmann, a daughter, Rosemarie Hackmann, 6 sisters and a brother.

Memorials may be sent to the Building Fund of Good News Bible Church in Iowa City, Iowa.

BRIANNA JEANNE SPEED
PITTSFIELD - Brianna Jeanne Speed, 1 year, 1 month, 1 week, died Aug. 10, 2001, at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she had spent most of her brief life. She was the daughter of Robert and Sandra Speed. Brianna's parents request that, in lieu of flowers, friends and relatives please make donations to the Brianna Speed Fund for the Children's Miracle Network, care of Eastern Maine Charities, P.O. Box 404, Bangor, ME 04402-0404. A complete obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport.

BISHOP, Hazel B., 59, Dexter; at Bangor, Aug. 10, 2001. Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.

ROBIN LYNN KNOWLES
DEXTER & MILO Robin Lynn Knowles, 37, died unexpectedly August 11, 2001. She was born December 9, 1963 at Milo the daughter of Ronald and Donna (Drew) Knowles. Robin will be remembered as a caring and loving person to her family and friends, and to all animals. She was an avid outdoors person. She had worked for several years as a CNA at Hibbard's Nursing Home, Dexter Healthcare, and the Veteran's Home in Bangor. She loved to care for the elderly in each of these locations.

She was predeceased by her mother, Donna C. Knowles. In addition to her father of Milo, she is survived by a daughter Brittany C. Cunningham of Cambridge; maternal grandparents, Clifton and Vera (Hoxie) Megquier of Milo; 2 brothers, David and his wife Terri of Milo; Randy and wife Ann-Marie of Glenburn; nephews Lance, Darrell and Derek; a niece Morgan; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Other people who were close to Robin include godparents, Bob and Violet Jones, Brent Cunningham, his children, Brent, Jr. and Cassie, and Brent's friend Jodi, Shawn Dickerson, Mike Farrar and Pat Reed. Robin will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, family and friends.

There will be no visiting hours. A Catholic Mass will be conducted 10 A.M. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brownville Junction. In lieu of flowers, relatives and friends may contribute to a domestic abuse center of their choice; or to the trust fund for Robin's daughter, Brittany Cunningham at Barco Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 447, Milo, ME 04463. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.

FRANCES E. MARSH
DEXTER, Frances E. Marsh, 67, died August 12, 2001 at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 26, 1934, in Athens, daughter of Wilbur and Doris (Pearl) Corson. She attended Guilford schools and married Donald Marsh on August 19, 1951. Donald predeceased her in 1997. She was employed briefly at Dexter Shoe Company and later operated a foster boarding home in Dexter for 14 years.

She is survived by three sons, Lee Marsh and Floyd Marsh both of Guilford and David Marsh of Parkman, a daughter, Donna Frappier of Bangor, 3 brothers, three grandchildren, Justin, Peter, Carl; a special niece, Kathy Richardson of Dexter.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, August 15, 2001, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter with the Rev. Harold Wheeler officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Pingree Center cemetery in Parkman.

IVAN H. NICKERSON
NEWPORT - Ivan H. Nickerson, 83, died August 13, 2001 at the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor. He was born July 12, 1918 at Dexter the son of Fred and Elsie (Thompson) Nickerson. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. After the war he married the late Evelyn Cross, who predeceased him in 1979. He had been employed at Snowflake Canning Company in Corinna, and retired as a bookbinder in Connecticut after 20 years, returning to Maine in 1974 where Evelyn and Ivan purchased their Fernald Road home.

He is survived by a step-son, Edward Cross of Detroit; a sister, Evelyn Dunn of Sun City Center, Florida, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ivan will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Gabrielle and Angelica. He was predeceased by sisters Doris and Ethel, and a brother Earl.

A graveside committal service will be held 10 A.M. Thursday at the family lot, Clark's Hill Cemetery, Stetson, with the Rev. David Ray officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport.

BRUCE E. WARD
GREENVILLE - Bruce E. Ward, 47, died unexpectedly Aug. 13, 2001, at his home in Greenville. He was born Aug. 31, 1953, in Greenville, the son of Arthur and Simone (Gagne) Ward. He was a graduate of Greenville High School, Class of 1971. He worked for Porters Garage, Whitneys Oil Co. and Dirigo Lumber, and later for Greenville Steam Co. for 15 years as a maintenance engineer. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his mother, and his wife, Debra (Kenny) Ward of Greenville; two sons, Gabriel Bourgoin, formerly of Greenville, and Christopher Ward of Greenville; one daughter, Shayna Ward of Greenville; three brothers, John Ward of Greenville Junction, Michael Ward of Harfords Point, and Timothy Ward of Hampden; one sister, Susan Ward of Meredith, N.H., several nieces, nephews, and cousins; one furry pet friend, "The Haze".

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at McCrory Funeral Home, with Rev. Rhenow officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moosehead Riders Assoc., P.O. Box 1145, Greenville, ME 04441. Arrangements entrusted to the care of McCrory Funeral Home, Greenville.

GLEN E. BURGESS
GUILFORD - Glen E. Burgess, 77, died August 15, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born July 22, 1924 in Guilford, son of Elton and Eva (Crabtree) Burgess. He graduated from Guilford High School class of 1942. After graduation, Glen joined the Army Air Corps. He graduated from gunnery school and flew B-17s with the 391st Bomb Group as a tail gunner. Glen flew more combat missions over Europe then any other airman from the State, receiving many commendations. He married Lorraine Lewis on July 24, 1948, who predeceased him in 1980. Glen was a well-known carpenter and builder in the Guilford area. He belonged to the Guilford Fire Dept. serving as chief from 1959 to 1963.

He is survived by 2 sons, Charles Burgess of Abbot and Eric and his wife Darlene of Guilford; five grandchildren, Katrina Pratt of Abbot, Shawn, Chad, Randy and Alan Burgess all of Guilford; two great grandchildren, Dylan and Nicholas Pratt of Abbot; a sister, Avis and her husband Edwin Edes of Guilford; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Lewis of Mass., and Donald Lewis and his wife Dorothy of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister-in-law, Joan Flood and her husband Dell of Plymouth; a special nephew, Alan Flood of Newport and many other special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael in 1996, and a brother Erwin in 1984.

Friends may call 6-8 PM Thursday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with Grover White officiating. Burial will be in the Guilford Center cemetery in Guilford. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Guilford Fire Department, c/o the Town of Guilford, P.O. Box 355, Guilford, ME 04443.

DELMON L. J. ROBICHAUD
DEXTER - Delmon L. J. Robichaud, 63, died August 6, 2001 at East Boston, Mass. He was born April 23, 1938 at Dexter the son of Perley and Lunette (Clukey) Robichaud. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army.

In addition to his mother of Dexter, he is survived by a brother, Merle Robichaud of Ruskin, FL and wife Alana; a nephew Harold and wife Cathy Pratt, and a niece Susan and husband Dale Hartford, all of Dexter.

A graveside committal service will be held 11 A.M. Friday, August 24th, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with the Rev. Raymond Morency officiating.
Local arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.

WILLIAM F. NADEAU
DEXTER - William F. Nadeau, 85, died August 17, 2001 at a Bangor hospital following a brief illness. He was born November 1, 1915 at Blue River, Quebec, Canada the son of Homer and Annie (Beaulieu) Nadeau. He moved with his family to Dexter at a young age. On July 26, 1941 he married the former Katherine Pembroke. He was a car dealer, taxi owner, golf course owner, and the proprietor of an extermination company; as well as various other business ventures. He was a member of the Dexter Fish and Game Association, the Dexter Fire Department, and the Dexter Development Association. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, #4444 with St. Mary’s Parish, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by 3 daughters, Janice Prescott of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Bonnie Daggett of Dexter, and Judy Ritter of Stuart, FL; 2 sisters, Geneva Lafountain and Martha Titus, both of Dexter; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 7 PM Tuesday, August 21st, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Dexter, with the Rev. Raymond Morency officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 8184, Bangor, ME 04401.

LYMAN C. FARRIN
HARMONY - Lyman Calvin Farrin, 83, also known by his grandchildren as “Ole Kid” died August 18, 2001 at a Dexter healthcare facility surrounded by his family. He was born August 19, 1917 at Brighton the son of Harry and Lula (Jewett) Farrin. He attended Harmony schools and served in the U. S. Army during World War II, where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart as a Medic in the South Pacific. Lyman owned and operated Farrin Brothers & Smith, Inc. a well known highway construction company, from 1945 until his retirement in 1980. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a longtime member of the Cambridge Masonic Lodge # 157. He was also a member of the Kora Temple Shrine. He was recently honored for sponsoring the Harmony 5th and 6th grade students annual trip to the Shrine Circus since 1966. Lyman was the first post commander of the Harmony V.F.W. Post # 6781. He was also a member of the 43rd Infantry Division Veteran’s Association. He enjoyed restoring antique automobiles and belonged to The Dusters Antique Auto Club. Lyman was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myrtie (Foss) Farrin of Harmony; his son and wife Ronald L. and Georgie Farrin of Pittsfield; his daughters Victory S. Todd and husband Thomas Todd of Garland; Jayne R. Farrin and husband Stephen Freeman of Presque Isle; grandchildren, Victory Glenar and husband Mark, Shari Allen and husband Kevin Thomas, all of Garland, Faron Allen of Thomaston, Amy Farrin of Austell, Georgia, Nanette and husband Craig Ardry of Portland, Thomas Farrin Freeman, and John Lyman Freeman of Presque Isle; step grandchildren, Holly Todd, Kimberly and husband Joel Thurber, all of Orange, Mass.; great grandchildren, Braden Allen Glenar, Calvin John Allen, Katherine Rebekah Thomas, Mary Louise Allen, and Brianna Thurber; two sisters, Hilda and husband Edward Bray, and Sarah Malloy, all of Bingham; a half brother, Leslie Farrin of Fryeburg; a half sister, Madeline and husband Shirley Cowette of Wellington; a brother in law, Joseph Doran of Nashua, New Hampshire; two step sisters, Flora Williams of Skowhegan, and Ada Small of Athens. He was predeceased by sisters Mollie Reynolds and Rheta Doran; a half sister Barbara Martin, and a brother Thomas Jewett Farrin.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Monday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Dexter, where funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Levi Pratt officiating. Burial will be in South Solon Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Harmony Ambulance Service, c/o Ms. Shawna McKenney, P.O. Box 177, Harmony 04942.
