RUTH V. PRAY
SANGERVILLE - Ruth V. Pray, 90, died April 25, 2002 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born January 28, 1912 in Newton, Mass. daughter of John and Jessie (Burbank) Reed. She loved her family, was well known for her gardening, and was a volunteer at the Dexter Health Care facility.

She is survived by a son and his wife, John and Mary Rose Pray of Dover-Foxcroft and a daughter and her husband, Betty Jean and Robert Skribiski of Hopkinton, Mass; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and a nephew.

Memorial services will be held 10 am Wednesday May 8, 2002 at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with Pastor Ray Beless officiating. Burial will be in the Town House cemetery in Sangerville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sangerville Fire Dept., Sangerville, ME 04479 or the Abbot Evangelical Free Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 131, Abbot, ME 04406

CARL E. DAVIS
PARKMAN - Carl E. Davis, 76, died April 27, 2002 at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 5, 1925 in Sangerville, son of Manley and Blanche (Atwood) Davis. He served in the US Army during WWII and for most of his life worked as a logger in this area. He was an avid horse lover and pulled with his horses through out New England and in Florida. He was a member and director of the Maine Draft Horse Assn.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma (Shaw) Davis of Parkman; a son and his wife, Larry and Nancy Glidden of Parkman, two daughters and their husbands, Diana and Guy Libby of Parkman, and Patricia and David Beach of Abbot; a sister, Elizabeth Lane of Belfast; a brother, Leon Davis of Guilford; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter. He was predeceased by a great grandson, Wayne Charles Guy Johnston in 2000.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am Wednesday May 1, 2002, at the Lawn cemetery in Guilford. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Maine Draft Horse Assn., c/o Marilyn Powers, 411 Farmington Hill Road, New Sharon, ME 04955. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

JUSTIN JEFFREY GIORDANO
HAMPDEN – Justin Jeffrey Giordano, 51, died unexpectedly April 27, 2002 while attending his daughter Annette’s graduation from the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Chicago. He was born May 14, 1951 at Dover-Foxcroft a son of Dominic and Nadine (Briggs) Giordano. He graduated from Piscataquis Community High School, Class of 1969. Justin served in the U. S. Marine Corps, then enlisted in the Army as a career officer, retiring in 1983 after he was medically discharged. He was a licensed Maine social worker, with an Associates degree in Human Services, and a Bachelors degree in Social Work,both from the University of Maine. He was a member of the Bangor Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marsha of Hampden; 3 sons, Anthony and wife Stephanie, of Old Town, Peter and wife Frances of Texas, and Marcus of Hampden; 2 daughters, Shera and Annette, both of Hampden; 2 brothers,Mark of North Carolina, and Dominic of Augusta; 7 sisters, Sandra Russell of Hartland, Marcia Harrington of Kittery, Roxanne Ladabouche of Vermont, Bridgette Bray of Florida, Cynthia Bayerdorffer of Willimantic, Sherrill Hayden of Augusta, and Nina Brawn of Dover-Foxcroft; 2 grandsons, Maximilian and Ethan Justin; and a lifelong friend and his wife, Jeffrey and Sheila Starbird of Dexter.

A time of visitation will be held from 5 – 6 PM, with services following at 6 PM Friday, May 3rd, at Bangor Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Mick officiating. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery in Augusta.Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport.

VIRGINIA S. WHITE
ATKINSON - Virginia S. White, 71, died peacefully March 21, 2002 at her home surrounded by family. She was born January 12, 1931, in Westboro, Mass., daughter of Warren and Inez (McCarty) Smith. She was a past Worthy Matron of Bethany Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Westboro, Mass., and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Dover-Foxcroft. Ginny worked at State Mutual Insurance Co. in Worcester, Mass. She enjoyed baking, gardening, traveling, and reading.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 53 years, Calvin White, of Atkinson; three sons and their wives, Donald and Nancy White of Atkinson, Kenneth and Irene White of Atkinson, and Douglas and Therese White of Minn.; a daughter and her husband Nancy and Karl Axelson of Georgetown; three sisters and their husbands, Marjorie and Ernest Bridges of Virginia, Donna Kluefer of Virginia, and Amanda and Robert Westgate of Florida; two special grandchildren, Colleen and Rita White of Minn., and many beloved friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Warren Smith of Virginia.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Saturday May 4, 2002 at the Atkinson cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Dale officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the charity of their choice. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.

SHERMAN EARLE SHELDON, SR.
NEWPORT - Sherman Earle Sheldon, Sr., 75, died unexpectedly May 2, 2002 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born November 21, 1926 at Skowhegan the son of Edward and Bertha (Cote) Vigue. He graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1944. Earle served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. On May 20, 1950, he married the former Dorothy Teaters. They owned and operated the Mary Carter Paint Store on Main Street in Newport for 20 years.

In addition to his wife of Newport, he is survived by a son Sherman Earle Sheldon, Jr. of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; a daughter, Paula Evelyn and husband Brian Graham of Newport; a sister, Geraldine Knight of Plymouth; a grand-daughter, Breanna Maye Graham and grandson, Matthew Brian Graham; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Sheldon and a brother-in-law, Belmont Knight.

Friends may call from 1- 3 PM Monday, May 6th, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport. A prayer service will be held at 3 PM at the funeral home with the Revs. Harold Wheeler and Michael Stephenson officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

JOSEPH V. DIMARCO
STETSON — Joseph V. DiMarco, 44, died May 2, 2002 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after a long illness. He was born September 8, 1957 at Jersey City, NJ a son of Francis and Clara (Kolakowski) DiMarco. He was an avid historian and sports card collector. Joseph loved cooking and received pleasure in watching others enjoy his meals.

He is survived by his mother of Highlands, NJ; his wife, Ellen of Stetson; 4 children, Joanna DiMarco, Danielle DiMarco, Jennifer DiMarco and Joseph DiMarco, Jr., all of NJ; 4 step-children, Brian and his wife, Sarah Trombly of MA, Mark Trombly of NH, Keith Trombly of WI and Scott Trombly of Stetson; 3 brothers, Frank and his wife, Nancy DiMarco, John and his wife, Donna DiMarco, all of NJ, and Vincent DiMarco of GA; a sister, Sara Iosue of NY; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Francis and a daughter Katie.

Friends may call 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday, May 5th at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport where funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Monday, May 6th with the Rev. Fr. Raymond Morency officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna.

JOHN ALBERT STOREN, SR.
NORTH NEWPORT — John Albert Storen, Sr., 78, died May 6, 2002 at a Bangor hospital. He was born November 9, 1923 at Brooklyn, NY the son of Andrew and Amelia (Ryan) Storen. He served his country during WWII in the Army 920th Field Artillery and was a life member of the VFW. John chose to move to Maine with his wife, Ethel to raise their family. He was employed at the Irving Tannery in Hartland for 25 years. John’s greatest pleasures in life included spending time with his family and friends and outdoor activities.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ethel of North Newport; a daughter, Amy Heegan and her husband, Mike of NY; 6 sons, John Storen, Jr.and his wife, Shari of Etna, Fred Storen of North Newport, James Storen of Bangor, William Storen and his wife, Rhoda of Sebec Village, Andrew Storen of New Mexico, and Edwin Storen of North Newport; 11 grandchildren;17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Thursday, May 9th at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport withPastor Al H. Worden officiating. Burial will be private.

ANNIE G. BRANN
DEXTER - Annie G. Brann, 101, died January 8, 2002 at a Dexter health care facility. She was born August 11, 1900, in W. Enfield, daughter of William and Susie (Grant) Glidden. She attended Dover and Dexter schools and worked in the woolen Mills in central and southern Maine, retiring in 1967. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter since 1916 and taught in Sunday School, as well as singing in the choir. She was one of the original members of the Elisabeth Towle Guild and was active in the Missions Circle. She was a life member of Martha Washington Rebekah Lodge and the Dexter Grange, where she held the office of Chaplain for 10 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Reuben Brann in 1953, a grandson, Tay Inman in 1974, a step-son, Linwood Brann, and all of her 7 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Lois and Ted Inman of Dexter; her granddaughter, Cherilyn and husband Mark Young of Dover-Foxcroft; her grandson, Thayne and wife, Diane of Englishtown, New Jersey; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 2 step-daughters, Madeline and husband, Otheneil Thurlow of Howland, and Norma and husband, John Thurlow of Ridgefield, Washington.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am Friday May 10, 2002 at the W. Garland Cemetery. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.

BERTHA D. HILLS
CORINNA – Bertha D. Hills, 87, died May 10, 2002 at a Pittsfield healthcare facility.She was born January 16, 1915 at Mapleton a daughter of Charles and Dolly (Pendexter) Day. She attended Searsmont High School. Bertha was a weaver at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna. She will be remembered as a hard worker and enjoyed doing for others. She liked camping with her family, especially at Campobello Island in New Brunswick. She was a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church and worked many years for the Hospital Chaplaincy.

Bertha is survived by her husband of 65 years, Fred of Corinna; a son Arnold and his wife Gloria Hills of Augusta; 2 daughters, Dorothy Treworgy of Winterport, Ruth and her husband, the Rev. Bruce Hudson of Corinna; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Ralph and Richard Day;and 2 sisters, Blanche Metivier and Madeline Stover.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Monday, May 13th, at the Corinna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dianne Danielson officiating. Burial will be in the Corinna Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Corinna United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Joanne Metivier, P. O. Box I, Corinna, ME04928. Arrangements are byCrosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.

MARTHA FOSS EASLEY
CORINNA — Martha Foss Easley, 95, died May 11, 2002 at a Dexter healthcare facility. She was born February 14, 1907 at Foxcroft, a daughter of Charles and Annie (Thayer) Foss. She graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1925 and attended Farmington Normal School. Martha taught school in Palmyra and Wellington and later worked in the Snowflake Canning Company, Kenwood Mill and Eastland Woolen Mill, all in Corinna. In 1927 she married Guy Russell of Corinna where they made their home. They were divorced in 1943 and in 1947 she married Chester Ray, who died in 1962. In 1972 she married Ralph Easley of Dexter, who died in 1994. Martha was a long-time member of the Corinna United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Corinna Happy Hour Club. She was a 50-year member of both the Cleora Rebecca Lodge and the Nokomis Chapter #42 OES. She spent that past few years under the excellent care of Pat Topolski of Dexter and Dianne Bowden of Corinna.

She is survived by her daughter, Nathalie and her husband, Maurice Brooks of Corinna; a granddaughter, Patricia Towle of Bangor; a grandson, Edmund and his wife, Wanda Brooks of Corinna; 8 step-children; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Everett and Warren Foss; 2 half sisters, Dorothy Dee and Evelyn Foss; and a grandson, Larry Brooks of Corinna.

A memorial service will be held 3 P.M. Wednesday, May 15th at the Corinna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dianne Danielson officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the GrayCemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.

AUDREY N. COOK
ALBION & CLINTON - Audrey N. Cook, 67, died May 11, 2002 at a Waterville hospital. She was born July 17, 1934 at Bangor the daughter of Donald and Reba (Williams) Wark. She graduated from Hartland Academy Class of 1952, and from beautician’s school in Lewiston. She retired from Butler’s Department Store in Waterville. Audrey was an avid crafter.

She is survived by her mother of Palmyra and North Carolina, 1 son, Terry Cook and his wife Cynthia of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 2 daughters, Cheryl and husband Richard Ware of Albion, Kim Dubay of Clinton; 1 sister Roberta N. Stepp of Hendersonville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Brian, Timothy, Jamie Lynn, Cassie, Ashley and Joshua; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Thursday, May 16th with the Rev. Marriott Churchill officiating. Burial will be in the family lot, Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

KATHLEEN L. KINNE
BROWNVILLE JUNCTION - Kathleen L. Kinne, 53, wife of the late Paul E. Kinne, died May 12, 2002, at a Millinocket hospital. She was born April 13, 1949, the daughter of Rex. S. and Myrtle R. (Fowlie) Stymiest. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Womens Auxiliary in Brownville Junction, and the former owner of Stymiest Store and the Maine Rail Diner, both in Brownville Junction.

She is survived by a son, Paul E. Jr. of Brownville Junction; two stepdaughters, Marie and her husband, David Gibbons of California, Ruth Kinne of Brewer; a sister, Cheryl and her husband, Waverly G. Conlogue of Brownville Junction; two stepgrandchildren, Jessica and Elizabeth; two nieces, Cara and Cassandra Conlogue; a special grandnephew, David Waverly Conlogue. She was predeceased by a brother, Rex Stymiest Jr.

Memorial services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo, with the Rev. Michelle St. Cyr officiating. Those who wish may send expressions of sympathy directly to the family.

PAULINE A. STOUT
MILO - Pauline A. Stout, 91, wife of the late Raymond L. Stout, died May 12, 2002, at her residence. She was born Nov. 9, 1910, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Mrs. Stout was a 1929 graduate of Somerville New Jersey High School and a 1933 graduate of New York University.

She is survived by a son, Anthony and his wife, Joanne Stout of Newark, Ohio; four grandchildren, April and her husband, Doug Bushey of South Portland, David and his wife, Torey Stout of Raymond, N.H., Kyle Stout, and Brianna Stout of Newark, Ohio; one great-grandchild, Jacob Stout of Raymond, N.H. She was predeceased by a brother, William Penowick.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Appalachian Trail Conference, Attn: Christina, P.O. Box 807, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.

ROY A. DOW
DEXTER - Roy A. Dow, 68, died May 14, 2002 at a Bangor hospital. He was born November 13, 1933, in Mars Hill, son of Thomas and Netta (Hartley) Dow. He worked for the Dexter Highway Department, Littlefield’s Garage and later for Hartley’s Garage in Corinna. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed woodworking. Roy also had an antique car collection that he personally restored. He enjoyed traveling and camping, especially in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Hopkins) Dow of Dexter; two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Bob Santoro of Garland and Sandra and Linas Verba of St. Pete Beach, Florida; two sisters, Eva Crocker of Carmel and Lois Trask of Plymouth; a brother-in-law, Andy Hopkins of E. Millinocket and mother-in-law, Isabelle Hopkins of Dexter; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Earl Dow and a sister, Doris Adams.

Friends may call 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Lois Merrifield officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Dexter. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his many friends here and in Canada.

LOIS F. "POLLY" WOODBURY
DEXTER - Lois F. “Polly” Woodbury, 74, died May 14, 2002, at a Dexter health care facility. She was born March 26, 1928, in Exeter, daughter of Wallace and Emma (Eastman) Withee. She worked at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna for many years and attended the Dexter Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by her husband, Maynard Woodbury of Dexter; 2 sons, Bertram Larrabee Jr. of St. Albans, and Clifford and his wife, Linda Larrabee of Dexter; a daughter, Janice and her husband, Rodney Giles of Garland; a sister, Velma Melvin of Dexter; a brother Wallace Withee Jr. of Bangor; two stepdaughters, Beverly and her husband, George Simmons of Charleston and Sharon and her husband, Earl Tourtellotte of Putnam, CT; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

At her request there will be no public calling hours. A graveside service will be held Friday May 17, 2002, at 1:30, at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Dexter, with Rev Lyman Curtis Jr. officiating. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
