Stanley D. Reynolds
1998-05-07

SOUTH PARIS - Stanley D. Reynolds, 81, of Oxford died Saturday, May 2, 1998 at the Market Square Healthcare Center. He was born in Poland on May 8, 1916, the son of Mitchell and Sadie Taylor Reynolds. He attended school in Oxford.

Mr. Reynolds spent many years working for Paris Manufacturing and retired from there in 1978. He also worked in the saw mill and local shoe shops. He was a member of the Hosanna Christian Church in Welchville, and served as an usher for many years. Mr. Reynolds enjoyed gardening and riding his bike.

He is survived by two brothers, Winfield of Oxford and Gordon of Bangor and four sisters, Valda of Mechanic Falls, Elva of Oxford, Hazel of Oxford and Doris Leeman of Oxford. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Morris and Maynard; one sister, Arlene and a nephew, Peter Leeman who was killed while serving in the Air Force.

Graveside services were held on Monday, May 4, in the Pine Grove cemetery in Poland with Rev. Dallas Henry officiating A memorial service was held Tuesday evening at the Hosanna Christian Church in Welchville. Arrangements were under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway.

Fred M. Warren, Jr.
1998-05-07

BUCKFIELD - Fred M. Warren, Jr., 50, of the East Buckfield Road, Buckfield, died early Sunday morning, May 3, 1998, as a result of an automobile accident.

Mr. Warren was born in Buckfield, June 15, 1947, the son of the late Fred M. and Verlie (Rowe) Warren, and he attended Buckfield schools. A self-employed logger, he had been associated with A.C. Lawrence, of South Paris, until its closing, for a number of years. Mr. Warren was the self-proclaimed `Mayor of Buckfield,' a horseman, and a veteran of the Vietnam conflict. He served in the U.S. Army, with Headquarters and Headquarters Co., of the 26th Engineering Battalion (American Division,) attaining the rank of SP/4, and receiving the Army Commendation Medal.

In 1972, he married the former Maureen Heikkinen, and they were divorced in 1989. He was a member of the Buckfield Community Church, being baptized in the church on April 15, 1962, and held membership in the Buckfield Grange.

Mr. Warren is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Pushee, of Bradford, VT; nine sisters, Esther and Beryl Robinson, of Auburn, Christine Hinkley, of Turner, Helen Hadley, of West Sumner, Geraldine Jewell Pauline Jones, and Shirley Smith of Buckfield, Kathleen Additon, of Leeds, and Jacqueline Meggison of Gorham; and three brothers, Walter, Roland, and Leon Warren, all of Buckfield. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Geneva Hood, of Turner.

Funeral services were held at the Buckfield Community Church on Wednesday morning. Interment was in the Buckfield/Damon Cemetery, Buckfield. Friends who wish may make donations to Buckfield Rescue, P.O. Box 99, Buckfield, ME 04220.

Fred M. Warren, Jr.
1998-05-14

BUCKFIELD - Funeral services for Fred M. Warren, Jr., 50, of the East Buckfield Road, Buckfield were held Wednesday morning, May 6, at the Buckfield Community Church with the Rev. Eva Thompson officiating. Interment was in the Buckfield/Damon Cemetery. Bud Abbott, Roland Warren, Randy Jones, Leon Warren, Walter Warren and Dan Watkins served as bearers.

Cecile E. Winslow
1998-05-07

SOUTH PARIS - Cecile E. Winslow, 100, died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at the Market Square Health Care Center where she had been a resident.

The daughter of Rawson L. and Nellie (Cole) Martin, she was born in Greenwood on October 19, 1897. She attended the Greenwood area schools. On December 1, 1934, she married Myron I. Winslow who died in 1952. She was a resident of South Paris for the last 18 years, coming from Oxford.

A homemaker for the majority of her life, she later worked at the Pineland Hospital in the laundry service. In her earlier years she found employment as the piano player for the silent movies held in Locke Mills and Bryant Pond.

A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jefferson Chapter #89 for over 70 years, she was honored with a life membership in 1973 and a 50 year pin in 1974. She enjoyed playing the piano and visiting with family and friends.

Surviving are a son, Myron L. Jr., of South Woodstock; a daughter, Valarie Brule of Auburn; a sister, Mary Mills of Locke Mills; 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sons, Reginald, Gordan, and David Roberts, a daughter, Edna Roberts and a sister Elvira Churchill.

Services were held Monday, May 4 at the Andrews Funeral Home, South Woodstock, with burial in the Craigie Cemetery, Oxford.

Mrs. Gladys G. Plummer
1998-05-07

NORWAY - Mrs. Gladys G. Plummer, 95, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. She had been a resident of the Albany area for the past 36 years and was formerly of Berlin, NH.

She was born in Island Pond, VT, on April 2, 1903, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Scallion. She attended schools in Island Pond, VT. She was a member of the North Waterford Congregational UCC and the local senior citizen's groups in the South Paris area.

She was married in Berlin, NH in 1930 to Henry A. Plummer, who died August 11, 1981.

Survivors include two sons, Donald and his wife, Anne Plummer, of Albany, and Henry W., and his wife, Eula Plummer, of Grand Prairie, TX; seven grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son, Richard Plummer.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 3, 1998, at the Meader and Son Funeral Home, Norway, with Reverend Janice Wilcox, pastor of the North Waterford Congregational UCC, officiating. Music selections included `Take My Hand, Precious Lord,' and `The Old Rugged Cross.' Committal services were conducted by Reverend Wilcox. Interment was at the Riverside Annex Cemetery, South Paris. Pall bearers were Donald Plummer, Henry Plummer, Steven Plummer, Dennis Farnsworth, Austin Findley, and Eugene Maillet.

BRYANT POND - Graveside Interment service for Troy L. Berryment will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the Lakeside Cemetery, Bryant Pond. Arrangements are under the care of the Andrews Funeral Home, South Woodstock.

WEST PARIS - Graveside services for Tyyne Immonen will be held Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at the Finnish Cemetery, West Paris.

NORRIGDEWOCK - A graveside committal service for Bessie Trueworthy, 102, will held at North Side cemetery in Norridgewock at 3 p.m. on May 7 with Rev. Harvey Lord officiating. Mrs. Trueworthy was a resident of Norway; donations in her memory may be sent to Androscoggin Home Health Services. Arrangements are under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway.

Fern P. Gurney

WEST POLAND - A graveside service for Fern P. Gurney, who died January 9, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9 at the Highland cemetery on MegQuier Hill.

Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Casco.

Dorothy (Baker) Onofrio
1998-06-04

NORWAY - Dorothy (Baker) Onofrio, 85, formerly of Bethel, died Tuesday morning at the Home For Creative Living, Norway.

Mrs. Onofrio was born in Gorham, NH, on July 4,1912, the daughter of the Joseph and Florida (Provencher) Baker, but attended the Newry schools. On May 21, 1933, she married Angelo Onofrio, who died in April 1982.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Snows, Bethel, and held membership in Mt. Abram Fish and Game, as well as the Bethel Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Onofrio is survived by a daughter, Beverly Onofrio, of Central Falls, RI; a son, Richard Onofrio, of Norway; four sisters, Mrs. Alice. McAllister, Mrs. Margaret Buck, both of Bethel, Mrs. Lillian (Dora) Gardner, of Waterford, and Mrs. Yvonne Nowlin, of Newry; three brothers, Romeo Baker, of Newry, Wilfred (Pete) Baker, of Wilson Mills, and Levi Baker, of California; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Eva Buckman, and Marie Harrold and two brothers, Joseph Baker and Alfonce Baker.

Prayers of committal will be offered at Pine Grove Cemetery, West Bethel, at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 7. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Onofrio's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 9 Church St., P.O. Box 2208, Augusta, ME 04338-2208. Arrangements are under the care of the Andrews Funeral Home, South Woodstock.

Esther P. L. Orne
1999-06-10

Esther Poore Leeman Orne, 92, died Thursday, June 3 at the Gregory Wing in St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor.

Born July 25, 1906 in Linekin (Boothbay), she was the daughter of Nathaniel and Anny Dodge Poore. She was one of seventeen children.

Mrs. Orne worked as a cook at Tufts University in Boston and was a homemaker. She loved to crochet and knit mittens and booties for her family.

Survivors include two brothers, Sam and Edward Poore, both of East Boothbay; nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grand-children.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 at Oceanview cemetery in Boothbay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gregory Wing, 6 St. Andrews Lane, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. Arrangements are under the direction of Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, Route 27, Boothbay.

Karen Michelle LeClair Orne
1998-08-13

Karen Michelle LeClair Orne, 49, of Read Road, Windham, died August 5 at the Maine Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of Edward and Ethel Marie Brown LeClair, and attended Portland schools.

Mrs. Orne had been employed by Fairchild National Semiconductor for 25 years, and for the last seven years, she, along with her husband, Bernard, had been the owner operators of Popeye's Ice House in Portland.

Surviving is her mother of Windham; her husband, Bernard Orne of Windham, formerly of the Boothbay Region; a daughter, Diana Tinkham of Standish; three step-sons, Michael Orne of Gorham, Edward Orne of Southport and Jeffrey Orne of Portland; one sister; four brothers; two grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in Portland on August 8, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Maine Division, Inc., 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011.

John J. Ouprie
1999-09-08

John J. Ouprie, 72, of 22 Eureka Ave., York, Me., died on Sept. 1, 1999, at York Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Ouprie was born on Aug. 8, 1927, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late Ernest and Maria (Doherty) Ouprie. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served his country in WWII.

He was an Elk member in Glastonbury, Conn., and in Portsmouth, N.H., as well as a parishioner of St. James Church in Glastonbury, Conn., and St. George Episcopal Church in York.

Mr. Ouprie owned and operated Towne Barber Shop in Glastonbury for over 20 years and then continued his career as a barber at Pease Air Force Base. He was an animal lover and upon moving to Maine he owned and operated York County Kennel in York.

Family members include his wife of 51 years, Shirley (Kelly) Ouprie; one daughter, Nancy Ouprie of Cape Neddick; three grandsons; one sister, Theresa Clarke of Concord, Mass.; one niece and one nephew. He was predeceased by his son, David.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at St. George Episcopal Church, York Harbor, at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NHSPCA, Portsmouth Avenue, Stratham, NH 03885.

Mrs. Doris E. O'Connell
1999-10-21

LEWISTON - Doris E. O'Connell, 92, resident of the Oddfellows and Rebeccahs Home in Lewiston, ME and formerly of Malden, MA died Saturday, October 16, 1999 at the Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Everett, MA on May 17, 1907, the daughter of Herbert and Eva Flanders Miller.

She was a graduate of Everett High School and attended college studying computers.

She married Lawrence J. O'Connell in 1941.

Mr. O'Connell predeceased her in 1952.

Mrs. O'Connell worked as an office manager for First National Stores in Somerville, MA and later worked for General Electric in Lynn, MA.

Mrs. O'Connell retired from GE in the 1960s after working many years for the company.

She was a member of the Centre United Methodist Church, the Rebeccahs, the Grange, and the Old and New Club all located in Malden, MA.

Mrs. O'Connell was very active in the Methodist Church and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law Hazel J. and John R. Raymond of Otisfield, ME, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth C. Miller of Somerville, MA and Clifford H. Miller of Somersworth, NH.

There will be a graveside memorial service on Friday, October 22 at 1 p.m.. in the Oak Grove cemetery in Medford, MA with Rev. John Blair of the Centre United Methodist Church officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, Norway, ME.
