AUGUSTA

Charles Eaton, Sr. - age 73, formerly of 16 Green Street and 11 Swan Street, died December 16, 2000 at Augusta Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. He was born in Augusta on February 8, 1927 the son of George W. Eaton and Hattie E. (Hawes) Eaton.

Mr. Eaton attended Cony High School and later attended Bible School in New York.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Eaton was employed by the City of Augusta Public Works Department for 37 years. He retired as a foreman in that department.

He was previously employed at a Swampscott (Mass.) shoe factory for several years.

Mr. Eaton was a member of the Maine State Retirees Association. He was a self-taught guitar player who enjoyed country-western music. He also liked to work with plants and flowers.

Surviving is a son, Charles Eaton, Jr. of Belgrade; a brother, George Eaton of Augusta; two sisters, Louise E. Moore of Augusta and Beverly J. Williams of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Angel J. Eaton of Strong, Charles Eaton II of Augusta, Christine Eaton of Sidney and Michelle Lee of Belgrade; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 19th at Riverside Cemetery, Bangor Street, Augusta.

Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.

VASSALBORO

Lois A. Farnham - age 85 of North Belfast Ave., died Monday, January 1, 2001 at her home after a long illness. She was born in Boothbay on May 22, 1915 the daughter of Ralph E. and Ruth E. (Adams) Wylie.

Mrs. Farnham was a graduate of Boothbay Harbor High School.

She was the owner of Moeller's Hairdressing in Damariscotta for over 15 years and had more recently worked for the State of Maine at the Augusta Mental Health Institute for 15 years.

Mrs. Farnham was pre-deceased by her husband of 20 years, Isaac A. Farnham and a brother, Clarence E. Wylie.

She is survived by a son, William A. Farnham of Somerville; a daughter, Ardath E. Wood of Vassalboro; three sisters, Jenny Rittle of Nobleboro, Della Cormier of West Bath and Marjorie Goodrich of Edgecomb; six grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday from 2-4 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A committal service will be held on Friday at 1 PM in the Fr. Leonard Leclair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

Those who desire may make donations to: American Cancer Society, New England Division Inc., 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011-2194.

WINDSOR

Richard P. "Ricky" Fournier, Jr. - age 18, a resident of the Coopers Mills Road, died unexpectedly on October 23, 2000 in Orono. He was born in Augusta, Maine on April 7, 1982 the son of Richard P. Fournier, Sr. and Leanne (Pushard) Fournier.

Ricky was a graduate of Cony High School of Augusta in the class of 2000 and was attending the University of Maine at Orono as a freshman.

Survivors include his parents of Windsor; two brothers, Mathew Fournier and Daniel Fournier both of Windsor; one sister, Angel Fournier of Windsor; maternal grandparents, Don & Lorelei Pushard of Augusta; paternal grandparents, Robert & Madeleine Rouillard of Manchester and Joseph & Elaine Fournier of New Britain, Conn.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visiting hours and services will be private. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Ricky's memory to B.M.M.B. Gift Account, c/o John Singer, University of Maine, 273 Hitchner Hall, Orono, ME 04469.

AUGUSTA

Gerard J. Gaboury, Sr. – age 82, of the Old Belgrade Road, passed away December 18, 2000 at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Augusta on August 24, 1918 the son of Joseph Gabourie and Marie (Cloutier) Gabourie.

Gerard was a World War II combat wounded disabled veteran having served in the U.S. Army Fourth Armored Division.

He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, life member of Disabled American Veterans, life member of Le Club Calumet, and a life member of the Fourth Armored Division Association.

He was employed at the Brunswick Naval Air Base and the Engineering Division at the

Togus VA Center, retiring in 1983 after 32 years of service.

Gerard was preceded in death by three sisters, Blandine Gerrier, Rolande Mathieu and

Marguerite O'Brien, and a special godchild Chrisanne Burns.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Evelyn E. (Marson) Gaboury of Augusta; two sons: Gerard J. Gaboury, Jr. of Augusta and Anthony P. Gaboury and his wife Lori of

Portland; a foster son Anthony L. Dumont and his wife Michelle of Augusta; one brother, Edward E.Gabourie of Augusta; and three sisters, Rita Laliberte and Gabrielle Poulin of Augusta; and Jean d'Arc Schricker of North Attleboro, Mass.

One very special beloved granddaughter, Emma Gaboury-Cifrino and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

AUGUSTA

Florence E. Gagne – age 74, of Chateau Cushnoc, Townsend St., died Tuesday, October 24, 2000 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Gray Birch after a long illness. She was born in Augusta on October 26, 1925 the daughter of Gedeon V. and Eva (Rodrigue) Labbe.

Mrs. Gagne had been employed by Hallowell Shoe Co. for a time and had previously worked for Edwards Mfg. Co. for 25 years. She also was the long time owner of Riverview Tavern in Augusta.

Mrs. Gagne was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Cushnoc Senior Citizens and a Charter Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Aerie # 3137.

Mrs. Gagne was pre-deceased by her husband, Rosario Gagne, in 1987.

Survivors include four sons, Henry Gagne of Warren, Dominique Gagne of Augusta, Daniel Gagne of Belgrade Lakes and Donald Gagne of South China; a daughter, Connie Gagne of Duncan, SC; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society are asked to meet at 3:00 PM to offer a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 AM Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

Those who desire may make donations to: St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, One Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

SIDNEY

Sherry A. Gilley - age 58, of Deer Run Ridge, died sud­denly November 13, 2000 at her home. She was born in Au­gusta, Maine on September 5, 1942 the daughter of Roger Cote and Leora E. (Ireland) Cote.

Mrs. Gilley was a homemaker in her own home for most of her life.

She attended St. Mary of the As­sumption Catholic Church in Au­gusta and was a member of Good­will Grange of Chelsea.

Surviving is her husband of 35 years, Robert W. Gilley, Sr. of Sidney; two sons, Robert W. Gilley, Jr. of Belling­ham, Mass. and Scott W. Gilley of Florida; five daughters, Cynthia Gannon of Mendon, Mass., Linda Marie Slowy of Oxford, Mass., Deidre Gilley and Melissa McCormick, both of Franklin, Mass. and Lora Lee Gilley of Milford, Mass.; one brother, Barry Cote of Au­gusta; two sisters, Dawn Smith of New York and Nancy Gerrier of Au­gusta; 15 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several aunts, un­cles, nieces, nephews and cous­ins.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be cele­brated 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will fol­low in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

AUGUSTA

Constance M. Burns Hall – age 51, of Riverton Street, died Dec. 29, 2000 at her residence after a long illness. She was born in Augusta on July 5, 1949 the daughter of Carroll Burns and Veriline (Gadapee) Burns.

Connie attended Augusta schools and had been head chef at the Veterans Hospital at Togus for 10 years.

She was a member of Goodwill Circle Hall of Chelsea and Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3037.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Hall of Augusta; her mother, Veriline Burns Parker of Limington; a son, James Leslie Trepanier II and his wife April of Augusta; two daughters, Kimberly Rose (Trepanier) Andrews and her husband Sean of Shrewsbury, Mass. and Christine Elizabeth (Trepanier) Hinkley of Waterville; six sisters, Victoria Moore of Augusta, Brenda Lee Clarke of Portland, Linda Priest of Bridgton, Bonnie Cushman of Limington, Katherine Ferguson of Windsor and Holly Ward of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren, James, Brittany, Michael, Courtney, Amber, Matthew, Skye and Coral; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-aunts and great-uncles.

Visiting hours will be 2-4 & 6-7 pm Tuesday, January 2nd at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where a funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm. Cremation will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn.

Donations may be made in Connie’s memory to American Cancer Society, New Eng­land Division Inc., 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011-2194. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

AUGUSTA

Rita Marie Hall – age 83, of Augusta, died October 21, 2000 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Glenridge Drive after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Van Buren, Maine on February 10, 1917 the daughter of Annie and Donat Ouellette. Rita graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Van Buren.

She worked several years in the Augusta School System cafeteria.

Rita will be remembered as a wonderful seamstress, which she truly enjoyed.

She was a beautiful, caring lady who loved to travel and be with her family.

Rita was a communicant of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, and an active member of St. Andrew’s Women’s Club and Senior Citizens Club.

Her husband, Warren “Bud” Hall, died May 3, 1997. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Norma Arnold and Lois Morrissey and a brother Rosaire Ouellette.

Surviving are a daughter, Earlene Drapeau and her husband David of Augusta; two sisters, Antoinette Beaulieu of Brockton, Mass. and Marcella Cyr of Keegan; one brother, Roger Ouellette of Van Buren; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 AM Tuesday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made to MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center, Alzheimer’s Unit, Glenridge Drive, Augusta, ME 04330 or to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church Capital Campaign, RR 12, Box 1350, Augusta, ME 04330.

AUGUSTA

Leroy “Roy” Hazzard – age 86 of Glenridge Dr., died Sunday, October 29, 2000 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care after a long illness. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 27, 1914 the son of Albert and Blanche (Joye) Hazzard.

Mr. Hazzard had been the owner/operator of Sandy River Golf Course in Farmington Falls for 20 years. He had previously worked as a Real Estate Broker in New York and as a machinist in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

He was an avid golfer. When he was 9 years old he would get up at 4 AM and caddy, before going to school, and was one of the first ones to start a Caddy’s Tournament.

Mr. Hazzard was pre-deceased by his wife of 59 years, Freda (Miller) Hazzard; two brothers, Robert and Steve Hazzard and a sister, Leona Schneider.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ann Albert and her husband Leo of Scarborough and Mrs. Lorelei Aragona and her husband Joseph of Beth Page, NY; a sister, Geri Moore and her husband Austin of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Judith Couture of Portland, Paul Michael of Waterville, Lori Ann Aragona of Beth Page, NY, Lenore Olanick and her husband Andrew of Beth Page, NY and Linda Vaccarino and her husband Sal of Farmingdale, NY; two great-grandchildren, Jamie Olanick of Beth Page, NY and Victoria Vaccarino of Farmingdale, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At the families request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial service will be held at a later date in New York.

Memorial donations may be made to: MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Alzheimer’s Unit, 40 Glenridge Dr., Augusta, ME 04330.

MANCHESTER

James S. Hoy – age 74 of Myrtle St., died Monday, December 25, 2000 at MaineGeneral Medical Center – Waterville, after a brief illness. He was born in Lewiston on April 26, 1926 the son of John S. and Emma (Hoffmann) Hoy.

Mr. Hoy was educated in the Lewiston school system, was a graduate of Hanson's Barber School in Portland and was a U. S. Navy veteran serving during WW II and the Korean Conflict.

He had been employed by the Kennebec Journal in the Composing Room for 35 years where he served both as a past president and as director of the Kennebec Journal Credit Union for many years.

Mr. Hoy was a great family man, although he had no children of his own, he was a surrogate father and grandfather to many; sharing his kindness and sense of humor to all. He was also an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a past member of the Greene Rifle Club, Alden Grayton Post League.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Hoy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Norma J. (Carver) Hoy of Manchester; two brothers, Charles Hoy of Lewiston and Albert Hoy of Garden City, MI; a sister, Lillian Brown of Lewiston; many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and several precious little ones.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 30th at 1PM at Grace Lutheran Church, 757 Summer St., Auburn, ME.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family on North Auburn Cemetery, Auburn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Good Will – Hinckley Home, P.O. Box 156, Hinckley, ME 04944.

Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
