Lil was a fine human being who had a keen sense of humor, loved a good joke and was devoted to her family and friends. She was kind, loving, and unselfish with a smile that could warm your heart and hands that could ease your pain.

Lil was a talented and creative seamstress, a super cook, and a wonderful nurse who brought comfort to those in her care. This is what she loved the most next to her family.

No one could have had a better friend and she was the finest wife, mother and grandmother.

For all who loved her we will feel a tremendous sense of loss but were truly blessed because she touched our lives. God’s heaven has gained a great soul this day.

AUGUSTA

Robert P. Kasporwitz - age 80, of Augusta, died Nov. 4, 2000 at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York on June 10, 1920 the son of Anton Kasporwitz and Vera M. (Roman) Kasporwitz.

Mr. Kasporwitz was educated in New York schools and served honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his meritorious service.

Mr. Kasporwitz was employed for 31 years by the Veterans Administration at Togus as a physical therapist.

He was a member of Fitzgerald-Cummings American Legion Post #2 of Augusta, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Western View Golf Club and the Augusta Men’s Bowling League.

His wife, Lillian Cora (Libby) Kasporwitz died October 22, 2000. A son, Merle Libby, also preceded him in death.

Bob was a great gentleman in both senses of the word. He had a strong commitment to responsibility and was always there for his family. Though a man of few words, he conveyed his love easily and no one was ever more devoted or faithful to his loved ones.

Bob had sensitivity and caring that was not immediately recognized but to those who knew him well, it was ever present. He spent many hours caring for his grandchildren and attending their activities.

The passion of his life was baseball and he was scouted by the Yankees before entering the Army during W.W. II Anything that was related to sports held his interest and he played on many baseball and softball leagues long after the "old guys" had hung up their cleats.

Bob was known to be the fast shortstop with a sure glove and powerful arm, as well as a clutch hitter.

In later years he became an avid bowler and golfer and one could find him on the course after the snow had fallen. People who knew him would say that he was a fine competitor, a good loser, and a humble winner.

He never complained when times were tough, and he never gave up on anything. He was a determined man and would persevere when the odds were not always favorable and always gave 100%. He was brave and possessed ideals that led you to respect him, he had a great sense of humor, loved a good laugh but never at someone else's expense. Bob was a good human being and a kind man.

Just before the war ended, he came to Augusta and met the true love of his life, his beloved wife Lil. For 55 years he remained her rock, her friend, and her love. Where she was, he was as well. Together they raised three children and saw their grandchildren and great grandchildren come into the world. No kids had a better Dad. Whatever was needed, he provided in the very best way he could. It is fitting that in less that two weeks after Lil's passing, he would join her. In life they could not bear separation and now they are forever joined in the love they held so dear. We will miss our dear Daddy, "Bumper" and friend but know that he is in a far better place that he is so deserving of.

Surviving is a son, Fred Libby of Kennesaw, Georgia; a daughter, Roberta Cass of Hallowell; a brother, John Kasporwitz of Staten Island, NY; two sisters, Frances Dengelegi and Ann Jelicks both of Venice, FL; eight grandchildren: Shane Simpson, Libby Hooker & husband Mike, Michael Libby & wife Terrie, Mark Libby, Mary Ann Pachon & husband Fabian, Jennifer Libby, Ryan Libby and Brian Libby; three great-grandchildren: Cora Hooker, Cody Libby and Robert Libby; several nieces and nephews.
