AUGUSTA

Lydia M. Vigue - age 92 of Cony Rd., died Wednesday, November 8, 2000 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Glenridge Dr. after a long illness. She was born in Ashland on March 26, 1908 the daughter of Paul and Celina (Levesque) Belanger.

Mrs. Vigue had been employed by Bates Mfg. Co. for 42 years.

She was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Mrs. Vigue was pre-deceased by her husband, Leon J. Vigue; a daughter, Priscilla Marceau; a grandson, Gary Marceau; her step-father, Hubert Michaud; five brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Fortin of Augusta; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta.

Burial will follow in the family lot at Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.

Memorial donations may be made to: MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, Alzheimer’s Unit, 40 Glenridge Dr., Augusta, ME 04330.

HOUSTON, TX

Brian J. Webb – age 34 of Lumberdale Rd., and formerly of Readfield, ME, died Thursday, November 30, 2000 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Ft. Meade, MD on November 14, 1966 the son of Jeffrey Webb and Margaret H. (Morse) Pierce.

Mr. Webb was a graduate of Maranacook High School in Readfield, ME, class of 1985 and of the University of Maine in Orono, class of 1989, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity in Orono, ME.

Mr. Webb had been employed by Chevron Oil Co. for 10 years as a Marketing Analyst.

Brian was an avid golfer and all around sports enthusiast. He played football while in high school and more recently played in the softball league in Houston.

He was pre-deceased by his maternal grandfather, Roger H. Morse.

Mr. Webb is survived by his parents, Jeffrey Webb of Readfield, ME and Margaret H. (Morse) Pierce of Sidney, ME; a sister, Heather Urquhart of Winthrop, ME; his maternal grandmother, Hildur C. Bacon of Berlin, CT; his paternal grandparents, Roland V. and Hope Harper Webb of Island Falls, ME; a dear friend, Susan Bologna of Houston, TX; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 8th at 10 AM at Torsey Memorial Church, Kents Hill, ME. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the Church immediately following the service.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Readfield Corner Cemetery, Readfield, ME.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, New England Division Inc., 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011-2194.

LARGO, FL

Thelma H. Weed - age 93 of Lake Ave., formerly of Augusta, ME and widow of Stanton S. Weed, former Motor Vehicle Director of the State of Maine, died Saturday, December 9, 2000 at Largo Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Augusta, ME on February 12, 1907 the daughter of Toby and Helen E. (Cole) Maguire.

Mrs. Weed was a graduate of Cony High School in Augusta, Class of 1926.

She was a member of South Parish Congregational Church in Augusta as well as the Woman's Guild of the Church, member of the Senior Citizen Club of Clearwater, Past President of the Augusta Woman's Club, Past President of the Kennebec County Woman's Republican Club, Past Auditor of the Cecilia Music Club, Fred Berry Retirement Association, a former member of the Board of the Kennebec Valley Garden Club in charge of Publicity and a Charter Member of the Kennebec Valley Medical Center of Volunteers Services.

Mrs. Weed had been employed by the State of Maine in both the Industrial Accident Commission and the Inheritance Tax Dept. for a total of over 20 years.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Stanton S. Weed.

Mrs. Weed is survived by a cousin, Barbara Chase of Augusta and a sister-in-law, Arlene Weed of Bangor, ME.

There will be no public visiting hours or funeral service.

Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.

AUGUSTA

Margaret Gallagher Wentworth - age 88, of Glenridge Dr. and formerly of Manchester, Maine, died October 31, 2000 at MaineGeneral Rehab. & Nursing Care at Glenridge Dr. after a long illness.

She was born in Spring Hill, Nova Scotia, Canada on August 1, 1912 the daughter of Clarence Gallagher and Annie (Rolfe) Gallagher.

Mrs. Wentworth was educated in Canada and was a self employed house cleaner for 45 years.

She was the last surviving charter member of the Manchester Community Church where she was a former church organist and former Sunday school superintendent. She served as president of the Missionary Society and did volunteer work at the former Williams Nursing Home on Gray Birch Drive in Augusta.

Her husband, Clarence P. Wentworth, died in March of 1947. She was also preceded in death by a brother, George Gallagher and a sister, Hazel Brown.

Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Cloutier and her husband Richard of Augusta and Clara Purington and her husband Rev. Dr. James Purington of West Bath; five brothers, Ken Gallagher, Curtis Gallagher, Chester Gallagher, Wylie Gallagher and Winston Gallagher, all of Canada; one sister, Evelyn Brown of Canada; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be on Friday November 3rd from 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Manchester Community Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be made to Manchester Community Church, Readfield Road, Manchester, ME 04351.

WINDSOR

Stanley R. Young - age 78 of Barton Rd. and formerly of Western Ave., Augusta died Saturday, December 9, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center, Togus after a long illness. He was born in Augusta on May 26, 1922 the son of Sherban and Alice (Smith) Young.

Mr. Young was a graduate of Cony High School, a member of Penny Memorial Baptist Church, a veteran of the Army Air Corps and flew 25 combat missions in a B-17 Bomber during WW II.

He owned and operated Wyman and Young Paint and Wallpaper Co. on Water St. in Augusta for over 20 years.

Mr. Young owned and raced harness horses for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Gruber) Young of Windsor; a son, David S. Young of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Paula J. Buotte of Augusta; a sister, Thelma Hammond of Pittston; four grandchildren, Peter J. Buotte of Paris, France, Allan D. Buotte of Gorham, Karen A. Holmes of South Portland and Stephanie L. Grenier of Windsor; three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, December 13th at 11 AM in the Fr. Leonard LeClair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

Burial will follow at the Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Kennebec Valley Humane Society, Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.

Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.

HALLOWELL

Mary L. Acheson - age 84 of Orchard Lane, died unexpectedly March 22, 2001 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born in Lisbon Falls, Maine on June 4, 1916 the daughter of Michael and Julia (Pagurko) Petrov.

Mrs. Acheson was a graduate of Lisbon Falls High School and Bliss Business College of Lewiston. She grew up in the Slovak community of Lisbon Falls.

She was the secretary and treasurer of Acheson Hotels, Inc. for 22 years which, in the early 1950’s, numbered 7 hotels including the Augusta House and the Belgrade Lakes Resort Hotel.

Mrs. Acheson was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hallowell; former secretary and long term member of the Kennebec Valley Garden Club and an avid Bridge player.

Her husband of 26 years, James M. Acheson, died in 1963. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter and a great-grandson.

Surviving are a sister, Anne Petrov of Lisbon Falls; five sons, James M. Acheson and his wife Ann of Bangor, Thomas M. Acheson and his wife Sherrie of Birmingham, AL, Richard D. Acheson and his wife Marjorie of Pemaquid Harbor, Robert B. Acheson of Mexico and William J. Acheson and his wife Peg of Gardiner; a step-daughter, Joan Bridge of Melbourne, FL and East Boothbay; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, an uncle, Andy Petrov of Slovakia, 2 special friends, Phil and Pat Leach of Hallowell and several cousins.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday, March 25th from 2-4 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hallowell.

Burial will be in Hallowell cemetery later this spring.

WINSLOW

Ludger Roger “Pete” Beaulieu - age 78, of the Roderick Road died Thursday March 1, 2001 at his home. He was lovingly cared for by his wife, daughters and a special granddaughter, Stephanie Corbett.

He was proud of his home and his many gardens over the years. He especially enjoyed working with wood, doing everything from repair work to building furniture for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in his extensive and well-organized workshop. Pete was a very skillful card player – a favorite pastime with family and friends. He was a collector of many things over the years, the largest collection being his stamp collection.

Pete was born in Augusta, Maine on February 7, 1923 the son of Willie and Delina (Levesque) Beaulieu.

He had been employed for over 20 years at Hudson Pulp and Paper Company and had owned and operated Phillips Gas Station on Bangor Street and later the Texaco Gas Station at the same location for more than 15 years. Pete, as he was well known, served in the Army during W.W. II from 1943 to 1946.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta, a member of the Pittsfield Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Augusta Stamp Club.

Survivors include his wife, Helen (Ashford) Beaulieu of Winslow; two sons: L. Roger Beaulieu, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Gardiner; Richard W. Beaulieu and his wife Dianna of Vassalboro; three daughters: Deborah Clark and her husband Peter of Richmond; Sandra York and her husband Andrew of Randolph and Shirley Carmichael and her fiancé Jim Dion of Sidney; five brothers: Arthur L. Beaulieu of Augusta, Richard Beaulieu and his wife Theresa of Augusta, Clement Beaulieu and his wife Jeannie of Chelsea, Eugene Beaulieu and his wife Madeline of Augusta and Paul Beaulieu and his wife Carolyn of Chelsea; four sisters: Jacqueline Carney and her husband Adelbert of South China, Cecile McCutcheon of Augusta, Gilberta Parker of Randolph and Gabriella Gower and her husband James of Titusville, Florida, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by a brother Ronald Beaulieu.

Friends may visit on Friday, March 2nd from 7-9 P.M. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where a funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday March 5th at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Those who desire may make donations to: HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 1568, Watervile, ME 04903 -1568.

AUGUSTA

Gerald R. Brochu, Sr. - age 60, died Monday April 30, 2001 at his home surrounded by his family. Gerald was born in Augusta, Maine on September 17, 1940, the son of Dorilas Brochu and Rose (Grondin) Brochu. Gerald has been retired for several years, previously working in drywall construction. He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending much of his time in the northern woods of Maine, which he enjoyed immensely. One of Gerald's greatest joys was his family, his wife of 40 years Mary (Burns) Brochu, his mother-in-law, Jennie Drouin, his three children; daughter Susan Brochu, son Gerald Brochu Jr. and his wife Chantal, and youngest daughter Terry Brochu. He also loved dearly his three grandchildren, Tori (Laliberte) Ladd, Jesse Barrows, and Jacob Brochu.

Gerald has seven brothers, Norman, Robert, O'Neil, Richard, Rene, Raymond, Paul, and four sisters; Claire Dubord, Rachel Roderique, Jeanette Brochu and Patricia Dunn; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

Gerald was a member of St. Mary the Assumption Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Augusta, and a former member of the Calumet Club.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am Saturday at St. Mary Assumption Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.

AUGUSTA, MAINE
Brianna Lynn Boston - age 6, of Augusta, passed away peacefully Monday May 14, 2001 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, following a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lancaster, NH on April 15, 1995 the daughter of Jeffrey S. Boston and Kelley L. (Wheeler) Boston.
Brianna will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her compassion for others, her sense of humor and her ability to make others feel special. Brianna always lived each day to the fullest. She had a great love for babies and animals including her kitten, “Zoey”. Brianna enjoyed spending time outdoors walking, riding her bicycle, going for wagon rides and boating. She loved learning and spent much of her time writing and reading books. Brianna’s hobbies also included singing, shopping and attending Cony sporting events.
Brianna was a student at Farrington School in Augusta and was a former student at Ballard's Day Care in Augusta. She was a member of Green Street United Methodist Church and she played T-Ball for the Macomber, Farr and Whitten team of the Augusta East Little League.
Surviving is her father, Jeffrey S. Boston and his wife, Karen (Lipman) Boston of Augusta; her mother, Kelley L. (Wheeler) Boston of Augusta; paternal grandfather Calvin P. Boston and paternal grandmother Carol A. Boston, both of South Carolina; maternal grandmother Sheila Wheeler of Augusta; paternal great-grandmother Maxine Adams of Hallowell; maternal great-grandparents, Daniel and Helen Gallagher of Manchester, Conn.; step-grandparents Sumner H. Lipman and Dawn B. Leib of Augusta; aunts and uncles: Chris & Joanie Boston of Phoenix, Ariz., Mark Boston of Oakland, John & Dena Flewelling of Buxton, Greg Wheeler of Farmingdale, Karyn Wheeler of Augusta, step-aunt Jennifer Lipman and her fiancée Mark Shinners of Falmouth and step-uncle Michael Lipman and his wife Carol of Miami, FL.; great-step uncle & aunt, David & Laura Lipman and cousins Kimberly & Peter Lipman of Augusta.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 17th at Green Street United Methodist Church, Augusta. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gardiner.
