CHELSEA

Norman R. Breton – age 52 of Keith St., died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at his home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Augusta on November 16, 1948 the son of Raymond and Marilyn (Whittier) Breton.

Mr. Breton attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta.

He had been employed by Cives Steel for 18 years and had previously worked for Pine State Trading Company.

Mr. Breton was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He collected coins, attended many auctions and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was pre-deceased by his mother, Marilyn (Whittier) Breton.

Mr. Breton is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon L. (Blair) Breton of Chelsea; his father, Raymond A. Breton of Augusta; a son, Jason Breton and his wife Kathleen of Zeilienople, PA; a daughter, Lee Ann Stumm and her husband Edward of Cranberry Township, PA; a brother, Ronald Breton of South China; three sisters, Joan Poulin of Milwaukee, WI, Anne Holmes of St. Cloud, FL and Carol Sargent of Augusta; two grandchildren, E. Jacob Stumm and Emma Stumm; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and a devoted friend, William Bean of Augusta.

Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will take place later this spring in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 1568, Waterville, ME 04903-1568.

NAPLES

Alice A. Corkum - age 86 of Roosevelt Trail, and formerly of Bolton Hill Rd., Augusta, died Monday, May 21, 2001 at Bridgton Hospital, Bridgton, after a long illness. She was born in Manchester, NH on August 21, 1914 the daughter of William J. and Aurelia (Brazeau) Sheehan.

Mrs. Corkum was a graduate of Lowell High School in Lowell, MA and attended Maine General Hospital School of Nursing.

She had been employed by Williams Nursing Home in Augusta for 5 years and had previously worked at the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center - Togus for 30 years as a Registered Nurse.

Mrs. Corkum was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Alice was an avid sports fan who followed the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia 76er's and the New England Patriots. She had a great sense of humor and a twinkle in her eye. She loved her great nieces and nephews and her cats.

Mrs. Corkum was pre-deceased by her husband, Lawrence Corkum in 1988.

She is survived by a sister, Arlene E. Bardsley of Naples; two nephews, Joseph and Thomas Bardsley; a great-niece, three great-nephews, a great-great-niece and several cousins.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A committal service will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 1 PM in the Fr. Leonard Leclair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make donations to: Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, Rt. 302, Fryberg, ME, 04037.

AUGUSTA

Guy Vincent Drummond - age 84, of 6 Page St., died unexpectedly March 13, 2001 in the Emergency Room of MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. Mr. Drummond was born in Burnham, Maine on July 4, 1916 the son of Albert E. Drummond and Nellie M. (Ellingwood) Drummond.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II.

In 1954, he founded Drummond Motors in Manchester. He retired from that organization in 1993 after 39 years of service. Mr. Drummond was previously employed by Ingraham Motors as a truck sales manager for 10 years. He also worked as manager of Cliffshaw Company for several years.

Mr. Drummond was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, lifetime member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #964, Elks National Foundation, and a lifetime member of Fitzgerald-Cummings American Legion Post #2.

He was presented a cane by the Elks Lodge #964 in tribute for being their longest living member.

His wife, Grace Mary (Dostie) Drummond, died December 15, 1993.

Surviving is a son, Robert R. Drummond of South China and Haines City, FL; a daughter, Joan Pomerleau of Augusta; six grandchildren: Robert T. Drummond of Augusta, Dianne G. Michaud of Litchfield, Dennis G. Drummond of South Gardiner, Douglas E. Drummond of Freeport, Deborah Pushard of Vassalboro, and Pamela J. Pomerleau of Augusta; ten great-grandchildren, Amber Michaud and Tyler J. Michaud, both of Litchfield, Alycia Pushard of Vassalboro, Bretta Drummond of South Gardiner, Emily Drummond and Eric Drummond both of Freeport, Shawn O. Rodgers of Augusta, Cody Drummond, Allyson Drummond and Gracie Drummond all of Augusta; a great-great-granddaughter, McKaylee Rodgers of Readfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His longtime companion, a white Westie named Barney Boy, passed away recently.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, March 15th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks are asked to meet at 7:30 PM to offer a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta. Memorial donations may be made to: American Heart Association, New England Affiliate, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688 or American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State St., Augusta, Maine, 04330.

AUGUSTA

Laurier "Larry" A. Dube - age 76 of Hicks Rd., died Thursday, March 8, 2001 at the Veterans Affairs Medical and Regional Office Center, Togus, after a long illness. He was born in Augusta on January 21, 1925 the son of Elude and Olive (Beaulieu) Dube.

Mr. Dube attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Andrew's Catholic Church.

He had been employed by Statler Tissue Co. for 43 years retiring in 1984.

Mr. Dube was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WW II.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #2 of Augusta.

Mr. Dube was pre-deceased by a brother, Joseph Dube and a sister, Bernadette Hamel.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Theresa (Bonsant) Dube of Augusta; two sons, Jeffrey Dube and Craig Dube both of Augusta; three daughters, Roxanne Andrews and her husband Keith of Pittston, Karen Dube of Mt. Vernon and Tina Dube of Augusta; two brothers, Bertrand Dube and Romeo Dube both of Augusta; a sister, Jeannette Lord of Fryeburg; six grandchildren, Benjamin Kubicki, Stacy Kubicki, Angela Kubicki, Shannon Dube, Jeffrey Dube, Jr. and Jason Dube and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Kubicki.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

Those who desire may make donations to: St. Andrew's Capital Campaign, St. Andrew's St., Augusta, ME 04330.

Arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.

MANCHESTER, MAINE

Genevieve C. Dunn – age 89, of the Kerns Hill Road, died April 21, 2001 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center at Glenridge Drive, Augusta, ME after a long illness. She was born in Somerville, Mass. on April 3, 1912 the daughter of Joseph Collins and Anna (Donovan) Collins.

Mrs. Dunn attended Waltham, Mass. schools and graduated from Hallowell (Maine) High School. She had been a homemaker in her own home for most of her life, but had been employed by New England Telephone Co., Cushnoc Paper Co. as a PBX operator, and the U.S. Government W.P.A..

Mrs. Dunn was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta, ME where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan for many years. She also was a C.C.D. teacher at St. Mary’s for several years.

Her husband, Frank L. Dunn, died on Oct. 15, 1975. She was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph Collins on Oct. 26, 1980 and a granddaughter, Kathleen Lincoln in January of 2000.

Surviving are three sons, Richard F. Dunn and his wife Bonnie of Mt. Vernon, ME, Robert E. Dunn and his wife June of Manchester, ME and David W. Dunn and his wife Linda of Farmingdale, ME; two sisters, Sister Mary Joanna, R.S.M. of Portland, ME and Gertrude Stuart and her husband Lawrence of Augusta, ME; a sister-in-law, Patricia Morrell of Augusta, ME; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manchester, ME later this spring. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s School Fund, 56 Sewall Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

FARMINGDALE

Ernest P. Fisher - age 81, of Littlefield Lane, died March 27, 2001 at Twin Cedars Boarding Home after a long illness. He was born in Augusta, Maine on February 15, 1920 the son of William Fisher and Lillian (Bennett) Fisher.

Mr. Fisher served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II.

His wife, Rhoda (Harvey) Fisher, died on Sept. 28, 1976.

Surviving are three sons, David Fisher of Augusta, William Fisher of Hallowell and Michael Fisher of Lake Worth, FL; one daughter, Mary Tucker of Walterboro, SC; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit on Monday, April 2nd from 9:30-11:00 AM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Stephen Tolander, chaplain from the Veterans Affairs Center at Togus, officiating. Mr. Fisher will be laid to rest in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.

PALERMO

William H. Fisher – age 48, of Cain Hill Road, and formerly of Augusta, died unexpectedly May 27, 2001 at his residence. He was born in Portland, Maine on April 10, 1953 the son of the late Ernest P. Fisher and the late Rhoda (Harvey) Fisher.

Bill attended Cony High School in Augusta and had served in the U.S. Navy during peacetime.

He was employed by B & M Security & Flagging for several years. He was previously employed by Al’s Double R Taxi in Augusta for many years.

Bill was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Palermo.

Surviving are two sons, William L. Stevens of Hallowell and Bruce Atter of Augusta; two daughters, Crystal, address unknown and Stacy Atter of Augusta; two brothers, David A. Fisher, Sr. of Palermo and Michael E. Fisher, Sr. of Lake Worth, FL; one sister, Mary Tucker of Walterboro, SC; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, June 1st at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.

AUGUSTA

Simone C. Gilbert – age 84, of the Augusta Mobile Home Park, died April 16, 2001 at Maine Veterans Home after a brief illness. She was born in Montreal, P.Q., Canada on August 23, 1916 the daughter of Alfred Levesque and Alice (McDuff) Levesque.

Mrs. Gilbert graduated from Livermore Falls High School in the class of 1935.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by the Village Shop at Farrell’s Clothing Store in Augusta for several years. She was previously employed for many years by Zayre’s Department Store in Augusta. She had also been employed by the Bell Shops in Augusta.

Mrs. Gilbert was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta, the Emblem Club, American Legion Post #2 Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a former member of St. Rose of Lima Circle Daughters of Isabella.

She loved animals, especially cats, and fought for animal rights. She was an advocate of the less fortunate.

Her husband, Lionel J. Gilbert, died in 1995. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Louis Levesque and Napoleon Levesque, a sister, Margaret Robinson and her former husband, Ernest Pelletier.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Pelletier of Portland and Peter Pelletier of Livermore; one daughter, Patricia H. Borduas and her husband Mark of South Portland; a step-daughter, Linda McCarty and her husband Robert of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Alice Debrot of Spotswood, VA and Jeannette Renner of New York state; four grandchildren: Lisa Trainor, Barbara Lynch, Hilary Pelletier and Erica Pelletier; three great-grandchildren: Jillian Lynch, Sara Meybodi and Andrea Lynch; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be offered 11:00 AM Friday, April 20th at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Volunteers of Kennebec Valley, MaineGeneral Medical Center, 150 Dresden Ave., Gardiner, ME 04345 or Kennebec Valley Humane Society, Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.

Augusta

Alexandrine Gosselin – age 96, of 295 Northern Avenue and formerly of 20 Kendall Street, died Thursday April 26th at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Gray Birch Drive after a brief illness.

She was born in St. Honore de Shenley, P.Q., Canada on July 16, 1904 the daughter of Joseph and Octavie (Rouleau) Plante.

Mrs. Gosselin moved to the United States in 1921 and was a homemaker for most of her life. She devoted her life to God and her family.

She was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a life member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, a member of Cushnoc Senior Citizens, St. Paul's Cursillistas and was director of volunteer services at St. Paul's Center for 30 years.

Mrs. Gosselin was predeceased by her husband, Jean Napoleon Gosselin, on October 11, 1974. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rolande Gosselin, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons: Laureat Gosselin of Lewiston and Reginald M. Gosselin Sr. of Punta Gorda, Florida; three daughters, Therese Tardiff of Augusta, Lisette Albert of Lakeland, Florida and Arline Caron of Bangor; 29 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit Friday, April 27th from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society are asked to meet at 3:00 P.M today to recite prayers for their departed member. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard St. Cyr, pastor, officiating. Burial will be later this spring in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, One Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330-4299.
