CHELSEA

Joseph Eugene Trytek, 84, of the Hallowell Road and beloved husband of Lorraine Trytek, died March 2, 2001 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. He was born in Chelsea, ME on March 3, 1917 the son of Michael Trytek and Ludvika (Mitoraj) Trytek.

He attended St. Mary's School in Augusta and was employed by Bates Manufacturing Company, later known as Edwards Manufacturing Company for a total of 48 years.

Joe was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid bird watcher, fisherman and golfer.

Joe was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta where he had served as an usher for many years. He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of Augusta, former member of Abnaki Council Knights of Columbus and Abnaki Assembly 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a member of Cushnoc Senior Citizens and Happy Family Senior Citizens.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, John, Walter, Frank and Stanley Trytek and a sister, Sophie Kus.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 39 years, Lorraine A. (Lerette) Trytek of Chelsea; two sons, Walter Moody and his wife Mary of Hallowell, and Ronald Moody of Augusta; one daughter, Judith Paradis of Augusta; one brother, Anthony Trytek of Long Valley, NJ; three sisters, Antonia Kus of New Providence, NJ, Helen Tibbetts of Golden, Colo. and Anna Kus of Augusta; five grandchildren, Michele Paradis, Daniel Paradis, Tania Storkson, Michael Moody and Karen Moody; three great-grandchildren Hailee, Daniel and Grace Paradis; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Sunday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant

Street, Augusta where members of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge of Augusta are asked to meet at 7:30 PM to offer a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's School, 56 Sewall Street, Augusta, Maine 04330.

MANCHESTER

Jane C. Vanderveld – born September 28, 1923, peacefully passed away at her home on April 28, 2001.

She will be remembered by many friends and family for her thoughtful and giving ways.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue; a son John; grandchildren Lisa, Melissa and Jason; great-grandchildren Kayla and Michael.

Following cremation, committal prayers will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Fr. Leonard Leclair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.

AUGUSTA

Therese G. Veilleux – age 64, of Windy Street, died peacefully March 25, 2001, the day of the Annunciation of Mary, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 24, 1936 in Augusta, Maine the daughter of Adelard Labbe and Marie-Anne (Boulette) Labbe.

Mrs. Veilleux attended St. Augustine School and was a life long resident of Augusta.

Therese had been employed by Bates Manufacturing Company for 10 years and had previously worked as a blueberry harvester during blueberry season. Most recently, she worked at home, taking care of neighborhood children and the children of her relatives. For the last eight years, until five months before her death, she would say that her best job was looking after her two grandchildren.

Mrs. Veilleux was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and, until her last days, was a peacemaker. Her two joys in life, besides family, were going to lawn sales with her sisters and gardening.

Therese was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Anne Society.

She was predeceased by a brother, Gerard Labbe and a sister, Simone A. Rodrigue.

Survivors include her husband, Normand G. Veilleux of Augusta; a son, Daniel N. Veilleux of Augusta; a daughter, Jan Yorks of Windsor; a son-in-law, Timothy Yorks of Coopers Mills; two brothers, Paul Labbe and his wife Florence and Lucien Labbe and his wife Angie, all of Augusta; three sisters, Arlene Gagnon and her husband Gerard, Lorette Rancourt and her husband Erlon and Claudette Masselli and her husband Jerome all of Augusta; two special grandchildren, Brittany and Simon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Larry & Lorna Veilleux of Gardiner, Mario & Linda Veilleux of Belgrade, Mike & Marie Veilleux of Winthrop, Martin Veilleux of Sidney, Priscilla & Jim Reed of Mt. Vernon, Jessie & Roger Nadeau of Belgrade and Docile & Leo Fortin of Sidney; her mother-in-law, Armandine Veilleux of Augusta and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, March 29th at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial of the urn will be announced at a later date by Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.

Special thanks from the family go out to her sisters for their excellent care. Thanks also to Dr. Laurel Coleman who, in a very short time, made her comfortable in her illness and more importantly, became her friend. Also, special thanks goes out to Father St. Cyr of St. Augustine Parish for being her friend and a rock for her to lean on.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to benefit her two grandchildren may be made to the Therese G. Veilleux Memorial Fund, c/o K.V. Federal Credit Union, 316 Northern Ave., Augusta, ME 04330.

AUGUSTA

Stanley F. Zuchowski – age 65 of Eastern Ave., died unexpectedly Friday, April 20, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center at Togus. He was born in Hartford, CT on March 12, 1936 the son of Stanley F. and Doris (Arel) Zuchowski.

Mr. Zuchowski was a graduate of South Hadley High School in South Hadley, MA and was a member of the Family Worship Center – Church of God in Augusta.

He had been employed at Maine Veterans Home for 10 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Zuchowski is survived by his wife of 32 years, JoAnn L. (Young) Zuchowski of Augusta; a brother, Robert Zuchowski of Messa, AZ; a sister, Dolores Danek of Gramby, MA; two step-sons, Ronald L. Tondreau and his wife Lisa of Moorpark, CA and Reginald P. Tondreau and his wife Pam of Sidney; two step-daughters, Linda Ganzha and her husband Valentin of Reseda, CA and Kathy L. Tondreau of South Passadena, CA; five step-grandchildren, a step-great-grandchild and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday from 2-4 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Committal services will be held on Monday at 1 PM in the Fr. Leonard Leclair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Augusta

Lucia Bolduc - age 87, of Mount Vernon Avenue, died June 1, 2001 at her home surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was born in St. Methode, P.Q. Canada the daughter of Augustin and Alphonsine (Lessard) Dostie.

Mrs. Bolduc was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, and graduated from St. Augustine Catholic School. She was a life member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, the Assumption Society and St. John the Baptist Union of America Conseil Jeanne D’Arc.

She had been employed at Bates Manufacturing Company Edwards Division for several years also Lipman Poultry Company for five years, after which she chose to stay home and raise a family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph P. Bolduc; a son, Paul Emile Bolduc; a daughter, Germaine Bolduc Robbins; six brothers: Fernand Dostie, Eugene Dostie, Alfred Dostie, Desire Dostie, Jean Baptiste Dostie and Heliodore “Leo” Dostie; three sisters: Medora Hamel, Alice Poulin and Jeanne D’Arc Julien.

Survivors include two sons: Phillip Bolduc of Wayville, Mo., and Joseph P. Bolduc of Augusta; six daughters: Marguerite Cartonio of Portland, Gracia Julien of Augusta, Muriel Lachance of Southbridge, Mass., Victoria Poulin of Augusta, Theresa Kinnie of Hallowell and Rachael Bernier of Merrimac, N.H.; a granddaughter, Alice Cartonio Downer that Mrs. Bolduc raised as her own; a brother, Gerard Dostie of Augusta; three sisters: Alfredine Quirion, Marie Ange Thibeau and Rose Eva Gilbert all of Augusta; 40 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society are asked to meet at 3:00 PM Sunday for a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Monday June 4th at St Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, Augusta. Those who desire, may make donations to: Ladies of St. Anne Society; St. Augustine Restoration Fund, 1 Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330 or HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 829, Waterville, ME 04903.

AUGUSTA

Gerald R. Brochu, Sr. - age 60, died Monday April 30, 2001 at his home surrounded by his family. Gerald was born in Augusta, Maine on September 17, 1940, the son of Dorilas Brochu and Rose (Grondin) Brochu. Gerald has been retired for several years, previously working in drywall construction. He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending much of his time in the northern woods of Maine, which he enjoyed immensely. One of Gerald's greatest joys was his family, his wife of 40 years Mary (Burns) Brochu, his mother-in-law, Jennie Drouin, his three children; daughter Susan Brochu, son Gerald Brochu Jr. and his wife Chantal, and youngest daughter Terry Brochu. He also loved dearly his three grandchildren, Tori (Laliberte) Ladd, Jesse Barrows, and Jacob Brochu.

Gerald has seven brothers, Norman, Robert, O'Neil, Richard, Rene, Raymond, Paul, and four sisters; Claire Dubord, Rachel Roderique, Jeanette Brochu and Patricia Dunn; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

Gerald was a member of St. Mary the Assumption Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Augusta, and a former member of the Calumet Club.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am Saturday at St. Mary Assumption Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.

AUGUSTA, MAINE
Brianna Lynn Boston - age 6, of Augusta, passed away peacefully Monday May 14, 2001 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, following a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lancaster, NH on April 15, 1995 the daughter of Jeffrey S. Boston and Kelley L. (Wheeler) Boston.
Brianna will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her compassion for others, her sense of humor and her ability to make others feel special. Brianna always lived each day to the fullest. She had a great love for babies and animals including her kitten, “Zoey”. Brianna enjoyed spending time outdoors walking, riding her bicycle, going for wagon rides and boating. She loved learning and spent much of her time writing and reading books. Brianna’s hobbies also included singing, shopping and attending Cony sporting events.
Brianna was a student at Farrington School in Augusta and was a former student at Ballard's Day Care in Augusta. She was a member of Green Street United Methodist Church and she played T-Ball for the Macomber, Farr and Whitten team of the Augusta East Little League.
Surviving is her father, Jeffrey S. Boston and his wife, Karen (Lipman) Boston of Augusta; her mother, Kelley L. (Wheeler) Boston of Augusta; paternal grandfather Calvin P. Boston and paternal grandmother Carol A. Boston, both of South Carolina; maternal grandmother Sheila Wheeler of Augusta; paternal great-grandmother Maxine Adams of Hallowell; maternal great-grandparents, Daniel and Helen Gallagher of Manchester, Conn.; step-grandparents Sumner H. Lipman and Dawn B. Leib of Augusta; aunts and uncles: Chris & Joanie Boston of Phoenix, Ariz., Mark Boston of Oakland, John & Dena Flewelling of Buxton, Greg Wheeler of Farmingdale, Karyn Wheeler of Augusta, step-aunt Jennifer Lipman and her fiancée Mark Shinners of Falmouth and step-uncle Michael Lipman and his wife Carol of Miami, FL.; great-step uncle & aunt, David & Laura Lipman and cousins Kimberly & Peter Lipman of Augusta.

CHELSEA

Norman R. Breton – age 52 of Keith St., died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at his home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Augusta on November 16, 1948 the son of Raymond and Marilyn (Whittier) Breton.

Mr. Breton attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta.

He had been employed by Cives Steel for 18 years and had previously worked for Pine State Trading Company.

Mr. Breton was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He collected coins, attended many auctions and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was pre-deceased by his mother, Marilyn (Whittier) Breton.

Mr. Breton is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon L. (Blair) Breton of Chelsea; his father, Raymond A. Breton of Augusta; a son, Jason Breton and his wife Kathleen of Zeilienople, PA; a daughter, Lee Ann Stumm and her husband Edward of Cranberry Township, PA; a brother, Ronald Breton of South China; three sisters, Joan Poulin of Milwaukee, WI, Anne Holmes of St. Cloud, FL and Carol Sargent of Augusta; two grandchildren, E. Jacob Stumm and Emma Stumm; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and a devoted friend, William Bean of Augusta.

Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will take place later this spring in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.

NAPLES

Alice A. Corkum - age 86 of Roosevelt Trail, and formerly of Bolton Hill Rd., Augusta, died Monday, May 21, 2001 at Bridgton Hospital, Bridgton, after a long illness. She was born in Manchester, NH on August 21, 1914 the daughter of William J. and Aurelia (Brazeau) Sheehan.

Mrs. Corkum was a graduate of Lowell High School in Lowell, MA and attended Maine General Hospital School of Nursing.

She had been employed by Williams Nursing Home in Augusta for 5 years and had previously worked at the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center - Togus for 30 years as a Registered Nurse.

Mrs. Corkum was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Alice was an avid sports fan who followed the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia 76er's and the New England Patriots. She had a great sense of humor and a twinkle in her eye. She loved her great nieces and nephews and her cats.

Mrs. Corkum was pre-deceased by her husband, Lawrence Corkum in 1988.

She is survived by a sister, Arlene E. Bardsley of Naples; two nephews, Joseph and Thomas Bardsley; a great-niece, three great-nephews, a great-great-niece and several cousins.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A committal service will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 1 PM in the Fr. Leonard Leclair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make donations to: Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, Rt. 302, Fryberg, ME, 04037.

LEWISTON

Lucia L. Cormier – age 92 of Montello Heights, College St., and formerly of Old Belgrade Rd., Augusta, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at d’youville Pavilion after a long illness. She was born in Augusta on October 29, 1908 the daughter of Joseph and Lucie (Pare) Toulouse.

Mrs. Cormier had been employed by Commonwealth Shoe for over 20 years and had previously worked for Bates Mfg. – Edwards Div. and Taylor Shoe.

She was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta and was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and the Daughters of Isabella.

Mrs. Cormier was pre-deceased by seven brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Guy P. Cormier of Lewiston; a daughter, Louise C. Fecteau and her husband Norman of Lewiston; a brother, Romeo Toulouse of Augusta; five grandchildren, Paul, James, Monique, Norman Jr. and Maurice Fecteau; 9 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 10 Am in St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the family lot in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.
