AUGUSTA

Jeannette Pooler – age 80, of Eastern Avenue, died May 19, 2001 at Augusta Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was born in Augusta, Maine on November 26, 1920 the daughter of Wilfred Crochere and Valeda (Gagne) Crochere.

Mrs. Pooler was educated in Augusta schools and was employed by Hudson Pulp & Paper Company for 11 years. She was previously employed by R.P. Hazzard Shoe Co.

Mrs. Pooler was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Norman Crochere, Augustine “Gus” Crochere and Alfred Crochere who died shortly after birth.

Surviving is her husband, Robert Pooler, address unknown; a sister, Julia Smith of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 8-8:30 AM Tuesday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 AM Tuesday, May 22nd at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.

BONITA SPRINGS, FLORIDA
Henry L. Poulin – age 80, of Fox Ridge Drive, Bonita Springs, FL, and Hammonds Grove, Manchester, Maine, died August 8, 2001 at his home in Bonita Springs after a brief illness. He was born in Augusta, Maine on September 22, 1920 the son of Odilon Poulin and Maximilienne (Lavallee) Poulin.
Mr. Poulin served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was involved in the battles of the Rhineland and Central Europe in the 340th field artillery battalion.
Henry was a self-employed general contractor for most of his life.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, life member of the following organizations: Calumet Club, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge of Augusta, AMVETS Capitol Memorial Post #14, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Augusta, Military Order of the Cootie and Fitzgerald-Cummings American Legion Post #2 of Augusta. Henry was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Augusta and a member of the Augusta Country Club since 1956.
His first wife, Rachael Alice (Goulet) Poulin, died April 2, 1987. He was also predeceased by eight brothers, Richard, Laurent, Gabriel, Raymond, Robert, Clement, Arthur and Victor Poulin, and three sisters, Carmen Shaw, Gertrude Russell and Yvonne Veilleux.
Surviving is his wife, Alma (Janes) Green Poulin of Bonita Springs, FL and Manchester, Maine; three children: Diane Stanewick and her husband Peter of Manchester, ME, Ronald Poulin and his wife Dawn of West Gardiner, ME, and Linda Gustafson and her husband David of LaCanada, CA; one sister, Anita Bailey of Jay, ME; four grandchildren: Scott Curtis, Sean Curtis, Eric Gustafson and John Gustafson; one great-grandson, Nathan Curtis and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Saturday, August 11th and Sunday August 12th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Prayer services are scheduled as follows: members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles are asked to meet at 7:00 PM Saturday; members of Fitzgerald-Cummings American Legion Post are asked to meet 7:30 PM Saturday; members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 7:00 PM Sunday; and members of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks are asked to meet at 7:30 PM Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial with military honors provided by the American Legion will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, ME.

Augusta

Thelma "Biffie" Poulin - 79 of 32 Granite Street, the dearest mother, grandmother and friend went to the Lord on Sunday May 20th at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center at Gray Birch Drive after a brief illness.

She was born in Augusta December 10, 1921 the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Thibault) Price.

Mrs. Poulin was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

She will always be remembered for her loving spirit and caring way. Whenever you were sad or lonely, she would have a funny story to cheer you up. Going to Bingo, the casinos and eating out with friends was such a pleasure to her and seeing the Ocean always brightened her day. Her departure will leave a huge void in our lives and God has another angel with him today.

Mrs. Poulin had been employed at Marco Island, Florida as a chef for 10 years, she had also been employed by the Augusta School System in the Cafeteria for several years and Hudson Pulp and Paper Company for 17 years.

Survivors include a son Gerard W. Poulin of Florida; a daughter Catherine D. McGuire and her fiance’ Carroll Leeman both of Augusta; a “quarter daughter” Sharon King of Gardiner, two sisters: Josephine and her husband Ernest "Jerry" Brown of Belgrade and Myrtle 'Millie" Brown of Augusta, a brother Henry Ellis of Richmond, a brother-in-law Joseph Rosario Poulin of Augusta, a sister-in-law Muriel Begin of Rhode Island, five grandchildren: Eric McGuire, Christopher McGuire, Michael Poulin, Michael Leeman and Maria Leeman, four special friends Pasquel and Lois Grazioso and Robert and Jeanne LaMarche.

There will be Private visitation for the family, at Plummer Funeral Home 16 Pleasant Street – Augusta, followed by a Funeral Mass, Wednesday May 23 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Gendreau, officiating. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Those who desire, may make donations to the Bread of Life Ministries, c/o John Applin, 157 Water Street , Augusta, Maine - 04330.

AUGUSTA

Irene Lambert Query - formerly of Monroe Street, passed away on July 1, 2001 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Glenridge Drive after a prolonged illness. She would have been 95 years of age on July 15th.

Having always resided in Augusta where she was born, raised her family and worked, she was an active member of the community as well. Irene was a communicant of St Augustine's Church.

While still a single woman she had worked in the State Medical Laboratory and at the Hathaway Shirt Factory in Waterville. A respected musician and accompanist she was once pianist for the then existing Augusta Symphony Orchestra where her uncle, Arthur Douin, was conductor and her sister, Lucina Bonneau, Plant was 1'st violinist. She also played the piano for silent films at the Capital Theater and accompanied her two brothers, Dominique and Arthur Lambert who were tap dancers in Vaudeville. married to Ernest Query, who passed away in 1970. She was a participant and sometime officer of the Assumption Society and the Canado-Americain Society. She was also a longtime member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and had been active at St. Paul's Retreat Center. Mrs. Query had served as a volunteer for the American Heart Association and the Kennebec Valley Humane Society.

She had worked in the Sewing Room of the Maine State Hospital, Commonwealth Shoe Factory in Gardiner, Hallowell Shoe Factory and always enjoyed working at the polls at election time.

She is survived by her 4 children now all living in Maine. Her three daughters are Lauraine Doyon of Augusta, Jeanette Beaudoin of Scarborough and Patricia Ward of Brooks. Joseph Query, her son, lives in Swanville. There are 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren with 3 great-great grandchildren.

Friends who wish to pay their respects may do so on Monday July 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society are asked to meet at 3:00 PM for a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, 1 Kendall St., Augusta, ME 04330 or American Heart Association, New England Affiliate, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.

AUGUSTA
Donald J. E. Quirion - age 74 of Eastern Ave., died Sunday, May 6, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center - Togus after a long illness. He was born in Augusta on April 26, 1027 the son of Aime and Yvonne (Lavallee) Quirion.
Mr. Quirion attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Andrew's Catholic Church.
He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during WW II.
Mr. Quirion had been employed by Roseland Restaurant and had previously worked for Bates Mfg., - Edwards Division for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Lorraine G. (Beaudry) Quirion of Augusta; a son, Patrick Quirion of Augusta; two brothers, Arthur Quirion and his wife Germaine and Edmund Quirion and his wife Ann all from Augusta; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no public visiting hours. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, May 9th at 11 AM in the Fr. Leonard Leclair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, New England Division Inc., 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011-2194.

AUGUSTA

Susan E. Raymond – age 37 of Grove St., died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at her home. She was born in Portland on April 14, 1964 the daughter of Donald D. and Beverly A. (Richmond) Raymond.

Ms. Raymond was a graduate of Cony High School and was a member of Linc Social Club.

She was pre-deceased by her mother, Beverly A. (Richmond) Raymond and a son, Michael Smith.

Ms. Raymond is survived by her father, Donald D. Raymond of South Casco; a son, Andrew Smith of Monmouth; three sisters, Margaret Buckley and her husband Peter of Portland, Kathryn Wallace and her husband Colby of Portland and Ann Raymond of Cape Elizabeth; her step-mother, Deborah Dana of Cape Elizabeth; a step-brother, Benjamin Raymond of Cape Elizabeth; a companion, George Drager of Augusta; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family is requesting that donations go to: Epilepsy Foundation, 4351 Garden City Drive, Landover, MD, 20785.

Vassalboro

Robert C. Robbins III – Age 62 of Webber Pond Road died Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at home after a long illness. He was born in Boston, Mass. On May 19, 1939 the son of Robert C. Robbins Jr. and Felicia (Fitch) Robbins.

Mr. Robbins graduated from Maine Maritime Academy. He was employed for over 30 years by U.S. Lines and Farrell Lines Shipping in New York as a Chief Engineer.

Survivors include his mother of Wilton; two sons, Robert C. Robbins IV and his wife Heather of Lewiston and David H. Robbins of Vassalboro; loving friend Donna Robbins; a brother Bruce B. Robbins of Long Island, N.Y. and a sister Caroline A. Ward of Baskinridge, New Jersey; also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

At his request, there will be no hours of visitation or funeral service. Burial and a
Memorial Service will be at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in
Memory of Robert C. Robbins III to the American Lung Association American Lung
Association of Maine, 122 State St., Augusta, Maine, 04330.

AUGUSTA

Laurette Y. Rodrigue – age 91, of Glenridge Drive and formerly of 50 Oxford Street Extension, died April 20, 2001 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center at Glenridge Drive after a long illness. She was born in Augusta, Maine on December 31, 1909 the daughter of Joseph Parent and Lena (Roy) Parent.

Mrs. Rodrigue had been a homemaker in her own home for most of her life.

She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Cushnoc Senior Citizens.

Her husband, Joseph D. Rodrigue, died in 1973. She was also predeceased by a sister, Diana Theberge, a granddaughter, Diane Rodrigue and a great-grandson.

Surviving is her son, Lionel D. “Nellie” Rodrigue and his wife Mildred of Augusta; three sisters, Evelyn Labbe, Yvette Michaud and Gertrude Parent all of Augusta; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 AM Monday, April 23rd at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Family cemetery later this spring. Memorial donations may be made to St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, One Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330-4299 or to Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St. – Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101-2406.

AUGUSTA

Patrick L. Rodrigue – age 73, of Eastern Avenue, died June 30, 2001 at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Augusta on November 23, 1927, the son of Edward Rodrigue and Yvonne (Loubier) Rodrigue.

He attended Augusta schools and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea.

Prior to his retirement in 1991, Pat was employed for 49 years by Hudson Pulp & Paper Co., which later became Statler Tissue Co. in Augusta.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a life member of both the Calumet Club and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge of Augusta, a member of Fitzgerald-Cummings Post #2 American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Augusta.

In addition to his memberships, Pat participated for many years in the local softball league and he also enjoyed woodworking.

Two sisters, Martha Rodrigue and Muguette Shields, and a step-son, John Church, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Kathleen (McCabe) Rodrigue of Augusta; two sons, Patrick D. “Dan” Rodrigue of Augusta and Timothy Rodrigue and his wife Vicki of Augusta; one daughter, Debra Rodrigue-Bennett and her husband William Bennett of Augusta; a step-daughter, Donna Sherman and her husband Gordon of Augusta; three brothers, Horace Rodrigue and his wife Mabelle of Augusta, Camille “Lefty” Rodrigue and his wife Connie of Augusta and Donald “Peanut” Rodrigue and his wife Theresa of Jefferson; six sisters, Iseult Ferguson of Meriden, CT, Louiselle DeAlba and her husband Frank of Oak Park, IL, Laurette Gilbert and Violet Verhille both of Augusta, Doris Prescott of Farmingdale and Carol Rodrigue of Clearwater, FL; 3 grandchildren, Justin Rodrigue, Aaron Rodrigue and Wendy Rodrigue and her companion Tony Kokernak; 3 step-grandchildren, Michael Sherman and Kathleen “Katie” Sherman and Timothy Colomy; a great-grandson, Cameron Kokernak; an aunt, Elizabeth Rodrigue; an uncle, Lorenzo Rodrigue; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday, July 2nd at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta where members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 7:00 PM and members of the Augusta Elks Lodge are asked to meet at 7:30 PM to offer services for Mr. Rodrigue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 AM Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Old Belgrade Rd., Augusta.

AUGUSTA

Irene M. Roy – age 83 of Cony Rd. and formerly of Northern Ave., died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at Maine Veterans Home after a long illness. She was born in Augusta on July 6, 1917 the daughter of Simeon and Lea (Pelletier) Jolicoeur.

Mrs. Roy attended Augusta schools and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

She had been employed at Commonwealth Shoe Co. for 20 years and had previously worked for Hallowell Shoe for many years.

Mrs. Roy was pre-deceased by her husband, Edmond Roy in 1999 and by a brother and three sisters.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be later this spring in the family lot at Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, One Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330-4299.

Arrangements are under the care of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta
