MANCHESTER, MAINE

Harriet E. Blanche – age 92, of Prescott Road, Manchester, died August 6, 2001 at Country Manor Nursing Home, Coopers Mills, where she had been a patient since June. She was born in East Livermore, Maine on February 27, 1909 the daughter of Russell Knowles and Myra (Camwell) Knowles.

Mrs. Blanche attended Livermore Falls High School. Although she was a homemaker in her own home for most of her life, she had been employed for several years at Robinson’s Health Care Facility, Gardiner.

Mrs. Blanche was a member of North Manchester Meeting House Church, former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Rebeccas of Mount Vernon and Starling Grange of Fayette.

She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Thompson; a daughter, Aldeah Rouillard; her brothers, Hermon and Heron Knowles and a sister, Ruby Lehto.

Surviving is her husband, Paul O. Blanche of Manchester who she married on Dec. 5, 1954; a sister, Helen Hopkins of Manchester, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours are 7-9 PM Wednesday, August 8th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where a funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday. Burial will be in Manchester Forks Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Manchester Meeting House Church, c/o Arlene Lebel - treasurer, 284 Prescott Road, Manchester, ME 04351.

Jeannette M. Bonenfant - age 81 of Franklin St., died Friday, August 17, 2001 at Maine Veterans Home, Augusta after a long illness. She was born in Augusta September 20, 1919 the daughter of Joseph P. and Aggie (Bonenfant) Gilbert.

Mrs. Bonenfant was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of Cushnoc Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons.

She had been employed at Bates Manufacturing Company-Edwards Division for several years but had been a homemaker for most of her life.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Arthur J. Bonenfant of Augusta; two sons, Paul Bonenfant and his wife Linda of Gardiner and Arthur J. Bonenfant, Jr. of Camas, WA; two daughters, Anne Lapointe and her husband Henry of Manchester and Rita Harrington of Harrison Township, MI; a brother, Joseph O. Gilbert of Augusta; two sisters, Anita Guerette of Augusta and Sister Theresa Gilbert of Biddeford Pool; two step-sisters, Anita Quirion and Therese Lapointe both of Augusta; eight grandchildren, Linda, Sharlene, Bridget, Jay, Derek, Jayson, Cristina and Reece; six great-grandchildren, Jesica, Sarah, Christopher, Nicole, Joshua and Gabriel; two step-grandchildren, Megan and Michael; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit Monday, August 20th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 11 from St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will be at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta.

Those who desire may make donations to either: Hospice Volunteers of Kennebec Valley, MaineGeneral Medical Center, 150 Dresden Avenue, Gardiner, ME 04345 or St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, 1 Kendall St., Augusta, ME 04330.

SIDNEY

Barry Allan Buotte – age 61 of West River Rd., went to be with his Lord Friday, November 16, 2001 with his family by his side at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a long illness. He was born in Livermore Falls on January 21, 1940, the second child of Allan and Ann (Boyle) Buotte.

He graduated in 1958 from Cony High school in Augusta. He enlisted in the Navy and served on board the USS Little Rock as a logistician during the Cuban missile crisis and received an honorable discharge in 1963.

He worked as a foreman at the Hudson and Statler Tissue factory in Augusta for over twenty years. He then retired from the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles in 1996.

Barry's idea of a perfect day was to be fishing on a trout stream in northern Maine: " The mission is to go fishin' ".

He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Lettie (Richards) Buotte of Sidney; two sons, Richard Buotte of Litchfield and Jay Buotte of Augusta; four step-children, Paul Bernier of Richmond, Laura Bernier of Sabattus, Danielle Darmana of Augusta and John Darmana of Hallowell; two sisters, Patricia Jortberg of Biddeford and Catherine Buotte-Anderson of Bath; a brother, Brendan Buotte of Augusta; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, November 21st at 9 AM in the Chapel at the New Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta. Burial will follow at the Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Maine, P.O. Box 1134, Portland, ME, 04104.

South China

Robert J. Burns, Sr. – age 69, of Route 3, died September 4, 2001 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit, Waterville after a brief illness. He was born in Manhattan, New York on August 21, 1932 the son of Thomas Burns and Theresa (Carter) Burns.

Mr. Burns served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He was employed by the Manhattan Transit Authority as a bus driver for 20 years.

After moving to Maine, he volunteered his services at the Veterans Administration Center at Togus, Muskie Center in Waterville and MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Glenridge Drive in Augusta.

Mr. Burns was a member of the New York Transit Workers Union and a former member of Fitzgerald-Cummings American Legion Post of Augusta.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace T. Burns, a brother, Thomas Burns, a sister Carol Perry and a grandson Mathew J. Bell.

Surviving are three sons, Robert J. Burns, Jr. and his wife Gina of Windsor, Richard J. Burns of Portsmouth, NH and Patrick J. Burns of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Catherine Bell and her husband Richard of Windsor and Therese Barrett and her husband Michael also of Windsor; four sisters, Theresa Bedony of Ben Salem, PA, Loretta O’Donald of Toms River, NJ, Madlyn Oliver of Augusta and Arlene Wolfe of Philadelphia, PA; 3 step-sons; one step daughter; 12 grandchildren including his four “special angels” Nicole, Brad, Brooke and Kaitlyn; 6 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Committal prayers will be offered 9:00 AM Friday, Sept. 7th at the new Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery chapel, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. Memorial donations may be made to HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 829, Waterville, ME 04903-0829.

MILLINOCKET

Francis J. Cyr - age 84, of School Street, passed away Sept. 21, 2001 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. He was born in Old Town, ME on June 9, 1917 the son of Philias and Lydia (Violette) Cyr.

He graduated from Old Town High School and served in the U.S. Army during WW II.

Mr. Cyr was a retired Maine State Game Warden and a 50 year member of St. Martin of Tours Council #680 Knights of Columbus.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Cyr is survived by his wife, Blanche (Gardner) Cyr of Millinocket; a daughter, Pauline Hathaway and her husband James of Gardiner; 3 grandchildren, Anne Beaulieu and her husband John of Lewiston, Thomas Hathaway and wife Christy of Scarborough and David Hathaway and wife Stephanie of Turner; 6 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Hannah Beaulieu, Mike, Nate, Anna and Nicholas Hathaway; 3 sisters, Cecila Cyr of Murphys, CA, Edna Pochini of Arlington, MA and Mary Thomasilli of Rochester, NY , several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday Sept. 25th, at Holy Family Church, 262 South Main St., Old Town. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Please make donations to: St. Martin of Tours, Elevator Fund, 112 Maine Ave., Millinocket, ME 04462 or the Katahdin Sport Group. Envelopes will be available at the church.

WATERVILLE

Ola C. Dacey – age 94, of Highwood Street, and formerly of 14 Johnson St., Augusta, died Oct. 11, 2001 at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home. She was born in Augusta, ME on Oct. 29, 1906 the daughter of Merton Howard and Sadie (McGraw) Swift.

Mrs. Dacey was a comminicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta and a member of St. Mary’s Guild. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Mrs. Dacey attended Augusta schools and graduated from St. Mary’s Convent in 1921, from Cony High School in 1925, Colby College class of 1929 & Gates Business College in 1930. She retired in 1967 after 23 years with the Internal Revenue Service, Augusta.

Previously, she was employed as a secretary for 7 years at the Maine Public Health Association (now known as the American Lung Association).

Her adopted brother, Charles Marlin Burnell Swift, preceded her in death.

Surviving are three nieces; Marguerite Swift Dubosque of Ipswich, MA, Alice Anne Swift Hutchinson, R.N. of North Whitefield, and Kathleen Swift Cyr of Lewiston; one nephew, C. James Swift of Buckfield; 8 grandnieces and grandnephews; Jennifer Brady R.N., Geoffrey Dubosque, Kristina Caruso, Lauren Dubosque, Shawn Galvgovitch, Amie Swift, Katie Sadie Swift and Dana deGuzman and his four children; also five great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; Hannah Dubosque, Geoffrey Christian Dubosque, Olivia Caruso, Matthew Brady, and Samuel Caruso.

Visiting hours are 1-2 PM Monday, Oct. 15th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 PM Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow in the family lot, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s School, 56 Sewall Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

Augusta

Florence Dostie – 73 of 69 Boothby Street and a lifelong resident of Augusta died Tuesday morning at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Augusta October 28, 1927 the daughter of Philippe and Alice Maheux Gilbert.

Mrs. Dostie was a communicant of St Augustine Catholic Church, she had been employed by the State of Maine for several years and was previously employed at Hallowell Shoe Company and E.E. Taylor Shoe Company for many years.

Florence’s greatest joy in life was time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

It gave her great pleasure in putting together scrapbooks of family and friends accomplishments.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard Dostie on June 28, 2000.

Survivors include two daughters: Sharon Pearl of Augusta; Rosemarie Smith and her husband Jeremiah of Monmouth and son-in-law John Pearl of Augusta; a stepdaughter: Tanya Hanson and her husband Ben of South China; two brothers: Joseph Gilbert and his wife Cyrilla and Laurent Gilbert both of Augusta; four grandchildren Richard Pearl Shawn Pearl Joshua Smith and Angelica Pearl also great-grandchildren Kyle, Richard, Alesha and Marie Pearl; also Travis, Chad and Shannon Hanson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may visit Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at Plummer Funeral Home 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 12 noon from St Augustine Catholic Church. Graveside committal will follow at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.

Those who desire, may make donations in her memory to the Maine Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330 or to American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc. 52 Federal Street, Brunswick, Me. – 04011-2194.

AUGUSTA

Leo B. Dube – age 73 of Trueworthy Ave., died Saturday, October 13, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical and Regional Office Center at Togus after a long illness. He was born in Drummond, Canada on March 24, 1928 the son of Emile and Bertha (Albert) Dube.

Mr. Dube was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a Prisoner of War during the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Army.

He had been employed by Hudson Pulp and Paper where her worked for 25 years. He also owned and operated Dube’s Garage for 14 years.

Mr. Dube was a member of Abnaki Council # 334 Knights of Columbus, Le Club Calumet since 1949, Cushnoc Senior Citizens, Catholic Order of Foresters and was a life member of D.A.V. Edgar Post #1.

He was pre-deceased by a brother, Romeo Dube and a great-grandchild, Calib L. Dube.

Mr. Dube is survived by his wife of 49 years, Adela “Della” (Page) Dube of Augusta; three sons, Robert R. Dube and his wife Ann of Vassalboro, Paul E. Dube of Wilton Manners, FL and Bertrand L. Dube and his wife Paula of Vassalboro; two daughters, Barbara A. Forbes and her husband Keith of Glenburn and Carol M. Cloutier and her husband Greg of Old Orchard Beach; a brother, Laurent “Larry” Dube of Augusta; a sister, Laurette Zita Bolduc of Lewiston; an uncle, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where officers and members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 7 PM, members of the Disabled American Veterans are asked to meet at 7:15 PM and officers and members of Abnaki Council # 334 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at 7:30 PM to recite prayers for their departed member. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta.

Burial will follow in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, 5 Kendall St., Augusta, ME 04330 or DAV Association, C/O Gary Burns, DAV Office, P.O. Box 3151, Togus, ME 04330.

LEWISTON

Rose A. Fecteau – age 103 of D’Youville Pavilion and formerly of Oxford St., Augusta, died Saturday, November 10, 2001 at D’Youville Pavilion after a brief illness. She was born in St. Severin, Canada on October 6, 1898 the daughter of Joseph and Leontine (Turmelle) Couture.

Mrs. Fecteau was a housewife for most of her life and had also worked at several shoe shops in the Augusta area.

She was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta and was a former member of the Cushnoc Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Fecteau was pre-deceased by her husband, Hermenegilde Fecteau; a son, Laurier Fecteau; a daughter, Theresa Colby; 8 brothers, 6 sisters and a granddaughter, Donna Fecteau.

She is survived by her son, Norman Fecteau and his wife Louise of Lewiston; a special daughter-in-law, Patricia Fecteau of Augusta; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Augustine Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, 5 Kendall St., Augusta, ME 04330.
