SIDNEY

Nancy I. Currier – age 71, of Town Farm Road, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Sandra Hinckley. She was born in South Weymouth, Mass. on May 17, 1932 the daughter of Robert Jones and Viola (Clark) Jones.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Currier was employed as a home health aide in Bangor for several years. She was previously employed by Wishing Well Motel in Manchester from 1975 to 1985.

Nancy was a member of Chelsea Praise & Worship Church. Along with other interests and activities, she was an avid Bingo player.

Her husband, Leon A. Currier, died in 1982. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Charles Currier in 1963; and a brother, Robert Jones.

Surviving is a son, Michael L. Currier and his wife Adrielle of Waterville; two daughters: Sandra Hinckley and her husband Ronald of Sidney and Donna Machardy and her husband Patrick of Plymouth, Mass. and their foster daughter Nichole; one brother, Harry Jones of Massachusetts; three sisters, Barbara Jones and Thelma Burbank, both of Massachusetts and Shirley Jones of Florida; four grandchildren: Melissa and Christopher Stephens, and Sarah and Brittany Machardy.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nancy Currier Memorial Fund, c/o Sandra Hinkley, 45 Town Farm Road, Sidney, ME 04330.

NORTH WHITEFIELD

Cecilia Taylor – age 42, of the Gardiner Road, died May 30, 2003 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta after a brief illness. She was born in Augusta, Maine on June 10, 1960.

Cecilia was employed by Joseph Kirschner Company for 18 years. She was chief steward for the United Food Workers Union. She was also active in the United Way campaigns.

Cecilia was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Sirois and a sister, Geneva Skyraven.

Surviving is her husband, Phillip R. Taylor of No. Whitefield; a step-son, Phillip R.S. Taylor and his wife Jennifer of Ohio; a step-daughter, Christina L. Sanborn and her husband Stephen of No. Whitefield; four brothers: Norman Sirois of Lebanon, Maurice Sirois of Chelsea, Raymond Sirois of Kentucky and Peter Sirois of Augusta; five sisters: Joanne Dechaine of Grand Isle, Reina Dennis of West Gardiner, Therese Peaslee of Rockland, Elizabeth Cody of Florida and Bernadette Sirois of Corinna; three grandchildren: Tyler Crumley of No. Whitefield, Emmitt Taylor and Lauren Taylor, both of Ohio; many nieces and nephews; two special cousins, Paul and Irmy Sirois of Lewiston; and her mother-in-law, Bertha T. Taylor of Gardiner.

Cecilia was a person who had a tremendous love for animals of all kinds. Her “family” also included eight loving dogs, six loving cats and two 1100 lb. pigs.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday, June 3rd at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, Maine. Memorial contributions may be made to Kennebec Valley Humane Society, Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.

AUGUSTA

Kathleen Mamie Danielle (Dostie) Cayouette – age 27, of Northern Avenue, died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at MaineGeneral Medical Center due to medical complications. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on Sept. 23, 1975 the daughter of Armand and Diane A. (Barbeau) Dostie.

Kathy graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1994. While at Cony, she was a cast member for four years in Chizzle Wizzle and played the clarinet for two years in the Cony band.

She was employed for a time as a grocery clerk by Hannaford’s Shop ‘N Save on the Whitten Road.

Kathy was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

She was predeceased by a sister, Michelle Anne Dostie, who died on Sept. 17, 1969; and her paternal grandparents, Laurier and Juliette Dostie.

Survivors include her husband, Timothy Mark Cayouette of Augusta; her parents, Armand and Diane A. (Barbeau) Dostie of Augusta; one brother, Daniel N. Dostie and his wife Mary of Dryden, NY; maternal grandmother, Simone Barbeau of Augusta; mother-in-law, Barbara Ann Nelson Cunningham and her husband Walter J. Cunningham, Jr. of Augusta; father-in-law Theodore A. Cayouette and his companion Pauline Brassford of Berlin, NH; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Marie McBrine and her husband Tom of Gardiner; two special nieces, Helen Grace Dostie and Claire Emma Dostie of Dryden, NY; many special aunts, uncles and cousins; along with her small pet dog, “Love Bug”.

Visiting hours are 6-8 PM Wednesday, June 4th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, June 5th at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, One Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

Augusta

M. Rita O’Donnell – age 88, of the Sewall Street Howell House, died Monday June 2, 2003 at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Grey Birch Drive after a brief illness. She was born in Taunton, Mass. on June 15, 1914 the daughter of John E. and Catherine B. (Gregg) O’Donnell.

Ms. O’Donnell had been employed by the Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant for over 20 years as Senior Clerk in the Billing Department.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta, a member of the Annunciation of the Lord of Taunton, St. Mary’s Guild, Queen’s Daughters, Annunciation of the Lord’s Women’s Guild and a Recipient of the Marian Award of the Diocese of Fall River, Mass.

Survivors include a sister, Rose G. O’Donnell of Augusta; a sister-in-law, Ann C. O’Donnell of Augusta; a niece, Katherine O. Greenleaf of Norway, Me., four nephews: John E. O’Donnell of Wichita, Kansas; James P. O’Donnell of Seattle, Wash., and Joseph M. O’Donnell and Stephen J. O’Donnell both of Augusta; also several great and grand nieces and nephews. At the family’s request, there will be no hours of visitation here in Augusta, however there will be brief visitation at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton, Mass. prior to the Mass of Christian Burial.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 AM Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta.

AUGUSTA

Donald F. Gregoire – age 69 of Garden Way and formerly of Mt. Vernon Ave., went to see the Lord Friday, June 6, 2003 at Maine Medical Center, Portland following a long illness. He was born in Augusta on June 29, 1933 a son of Esdras and Marie Anne (Ouellette) Gregoire.

Mr. Gregoire attended Augusta schools and was a U. S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955.

Before his retirement, he had been employed as a carpenter through the Union Carpenter Local #320 for 27 years and also had worked at Maine Yankee Power for 5 years.

Mr. Gregoire was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of Le Club Calumet, a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. Some of his hobbies were camping and fishing.

He was a devoted husband, a swell papa and a wonderful pepere to his very much loved grandsons.

Mr. Gregoire is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan (Pomerleau) Gregoire of Augusta; a son, Paul D. Gregoire and his companion Patti Soule of Sidney; two brothers, Laurier Gregoire of Augusta and Moril Gregoire and his wife Marcia of South Gardiner; seven sisters, Rita Gregoire and her husband Louis, Florence Maheux, Constance Rodrigue and her husband Rene, Theresa Dostie and Priscilla Violette and her husband Joseph all of Augusta, Juliette Daley of Grays Lake, IL and Lorraine Beaudry and her husband Valmond of Chelsea; two grandchildren, Sgt. Benjamin Gregoire and his wife Janella of Augusta and Aaron Gregoire of Sidney; an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday, June 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where officers and members of Le Club Calumet are asked to meet at 7 PM to recite prayers for their departed member. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta.

Burial and committal prayers will follow in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.

Those who desire may make donations in his name to: American Heart Association, New England Affiliate, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701-4688 or St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, One Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

AUGUSTA

Florian J. Blouin – age 88 of Linwood Ave., died Saturday evening, June 14, 2003 at Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA, following a brief illness. He was born in Augusta on April 12, 1915 the son of Azarias and Marie Blouin.

Mr. Blouin was a life-long resident of Augusta.

Florian graduated from Cony High School in 1936 and was inducted into the Army in 1942. He first served as a Medical Specialist with the 20th Division, 65th Armored Infantry Battalion at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and later served in France, Belgium and Germany, including the Battle of the Bulge.

Upon release from the Army, he married Augusta Cary of St. Louis, MO in 1947. Florian worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years and was a well-known mail carrier.

He was member of St. Andrews Parish and an avid gardener and woodworker. Mr. Blouin was pre-deceased by his wife, Augusta T. (Cary) Blouin and two sisters, Juliette Dore and Marie Leach.

He is survived by a son, Gerard and a granddaughter Amanda Blouin, both of Holden, MA; his nieces, Linda Straz of Readfield, ME and Kathy Grover of Washington, DC and a nephew, Roland Leach of Hallowell, ME.

Friends and acquaintances may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday, June 18th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 19th at 10 AM at St. Andrews Catholic Church, St. Andrew’s St., Augusta, ME.

Committal prayers and burial will be at the Maine Veterans cemetery in Augusta at a later date.

AUGUSTA

Edmond A. Julien – age 79, of 63 Patterson Street, died peacefully at his apartment on June 16, 2003. He was born in Jackman, Maine on Sept. 19, 1923 the son of Arthur Julien and Alphonsine (Forgue) Julien.

Edmond is survived by two brothers, Wallace Julien of Virginia Beach, VA and Louis Julien and his wife Gracia of Augusta; also 5 nieces, one nephew and many cousins.

Edmond served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II and also during the Korean Conflict.

He had been employed by Bates Manufacturing Company in Augusta for several years.

Edmond will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial donations may be made to: Voluntary Services, c/o Steve Hurd, Veterans Administration Center, Togus, ME 04330.

AUGUSTA

Harold S. Millay – age 84, of Augusta, died June 16, 2003 at MaineGeneral Medical Center. He was born in Bowdoinham, Maine on March 24, 1919 the son of Horace Millay and Bertha (Yeaton) Millay.

Mr. Millay was a graduate of Coombs High School of Bowdoinham, and a 1941 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Millay was employed by the State of Maine Bureau of Public Improvements. He was previously employed by Statler Tissue Company for several years and by Allis-Chalmers as a supervisor for 22 years.

Mr. Millay was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Bowdoinham and Ducks Unlimited.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. An ardent sportsman who will be missed by all he leaves behind. Goodbye “Maine Guide”, we will remember you forever.

Surviving is his wife, Marjorie J. (Dewart) Millay of Augusta; three sons, Robert, William and James Millay; one brother, George Millay and six grandchildren.

There will be no public visiting hours or services.

MANCHESTER

Yvette M. Morrissette – age 84 of Haywards Way died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta, following a long illness. She was born in Augusta on February 16, 1919 a daughter of George and Margaret (McNamara) Pepin.

Mrs. Morrissette was a graduate of Cony high school.

She was a home maker for most of her life and worked for a time for the Internal Revenue Service and supervised the playground at Northern Ave. for many years. While supervisor at the playground, she started a softball team for boys 13 to 15 years of age and even pitched for them at age 45.

Mrs. Morrissette was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Clearwater, FL.

She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Augusta Country Club and the Top of the World Golf Association. She and her husband, Wilfred, were written about in Sports Illustrated Magazine for each having made a hole-in-one in the same season.

Mrs. Morrissette was pre-deceased by her husband of over 50 years, Wilfred J. Morrissette and a brother, Fernand Pepin.

She is survived by two sons, Gerard W. Morrissette of Manchester and Dr. George N. Morrissette and his wife Claire of Lewiston; a daughter, Margaret LeTourneau and her husband Richard of South Portland; three brothers, Leo Pepin and Richard Pepin and his wife Bernadette and Raymond Pepin all of Augusta; three sisters, Louise Veilleux, Madeleine Patenaude and her husband Rene and Beatrice Gilbert and her husband Henry all of Augusta; four grandchildren, Maria Morrissette of Portland, Dr. Gregory Morrissette of Boston, MA, Sara Conley of Falmouth and Karen Sabataso of Rutland, VT; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Conley of Falmouth; a brother-in-law, Raymond Morrissette and his wife Germaine; a sister-in-law, Jeannette Dowling and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial will be at a later date in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Augustine Church Restoration Fund, One Kendall Street, Augusta, ME 04330.
