MADELINE NASON

SHERMAN - Madeline Nason, 84, of Sherman, died April 14, 2004, at her home. She was born July 14, 1919, in Sherman, the daughter of Burns and Alida (Wood) Smith. She is survived by one son, Tony Nason of Sherman; one sister, Erma Whitehouse of Island Falls. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland in 1999. Services will be private. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.

FLORENCE L. SCRIPTURE

BREWER - Florence L. (Jellison) Scripture, 91, went to be with our Lord, April 13, 2004, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Hermon, the daughter of Elmer and Doris (Hammond) Jellison. Florence's main interest was her family and beloved dog Barney. She enjoyed TV soap opera's, game shows, and cribbage. For many years Florence enjoyed making crazy patchwork quilts, especially baby quilts. She is survived by one son, Carleton M. Scripture and his wife, Frances, of Colorado; three daughters, Jean Marie Scripture, Sheila R. and her husband, John Lewia, and Carolyn Daisy Scripture, all of Brewer; one daughter-in-law, Eva Scripture of Newburgh; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Light of Hermon; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Merle J. Scripture; two sons, Gerald and Earle Scripture; one sister, Frances Hamm. The family would like to thank the staff of Bangor Visiting Nurses, Hospice of Eastern Maine, Dr. Gary Ross and Dr. Adam Lauer, for all their care and consideration in their time of need. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, with the Rev. Randall Wilbur, officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon.

RICHARD C. 'DICK' TARDY SR. (04/15/2004)
HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Richard C. "Dick" Tardy Sr., 65, died April 13, 2004 at the Park-view Huntington Hospital. Mr. Tardy was born Oct. 30, 1938 in Presque Isle, a son of the late Edmond and Mary (Lascore) Tardy. He graduated from Presque Isle High School.

PHYLLIS WILLIAMS

ELLSWORTH - Phyllis Williams, 82, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at home with her family in Ellsworth. She was born April 2, 1922, in Danforth, the daughter of Cecil and Etta (Morse) Bragdon. Phyllis' family was the most important part of her life. She is survived by two children, Betty Lou Woodard and her husband, Barry, and Gary Williams, all of Ellsworth; two grandsons, Troy Woodard and his wife, Sheryl, of Tremont, and Todd Woodard of Ellsworth; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Nicholas Woodard of Tremont; two sisters, Lois Watt of Lisbon, and Martel Craig of Auburn; three brothers, Arthur Bragdon of Oxford, Clive Bragdon of Masardis, and Clair Bragdon of Mars Hill; a stepsister, Julia Stoddard of Danforth; a stepbrother, Donnie Bragdon of Stockton Springs; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Emery F. Williams, to whom she was married for 40 years, on April 19, 1982. Graveside services for the family will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the Seldon Cemetery, Seldon. Gifts in memory of Phyllis may be sent to Hancock County Homecare, P.O. HARVEY MERRILL WILSON

KENSINGTON, N.H. - Harvey Merrill Wilson, 82, died April 12, 2004, in Portsmouth, N.H. He was born July 31, 1921, in Pittsfield, ME, the son of the late Alton and Ada M. (Goodrich) Wilson. Harvey was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He formerly worked for Maine Central Institute and Whirthmore Feed Co., both in Pittsfield. Harvey was a 50-year member of the Meridian Lodge No. 12 AF & AM of Pittsfield. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia E. (Madore) Wilson of Kensington, N.H.; one daughter, Terrie Steeves of Kensington; one daughter, Terrie Steeves of Kensington, N.H.; one son, Richard K. White of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2004, in Rockingham Cemetery, Newfields, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Meridian Lodge No. 12 AF & AM, P.O. LILLIAN AURIANNE (AUDET) ELIAS

PITTSFIELD and SIDNEY - Lillian A. Elias formerly of Pittsfield, wife of the late Lloyd R. Elias, died at Mt. Saint Joseph's, Waterville, early Thursday morning, Dec. 4, 2003. She was born April 12, 1913, in St. Cecile, Quebec, the eldest daughter of Joseph and Valeda Audet. At the age of nine Lillian and her family moved to Greenville. She attended school there and later trained in Bangor to become a hair dresser. She was a practicing beautician in Pittsfield for many years. In 1937, she married her husband, Lloyd R. Elias and from 1950 until their retirement they ran a successful grocery business. She is survived by one daughter, Isabelle Elias Robinson and her husband, Thomas A. Robinson of Enfield; one son, Rochid "Rocky" Joseph Elias and his wife, Jody Webber Elias of Sidney; two special grandsons, Andrew Thomas Robinson and his wife, Leslie Susan Yetter, of Brunswick, and Corey Webber Elias of Sidney and Boston, Mass.; one great-granddaughter, Katherine Aurianne Robinson of Brunswick; two brothers, Patrick Audet and his wife, Simone, of Hampden, and Arthur Norman Audet; five sisters, Jeannette Sawyer of California, Yvette and Hector Lamontagne of Pittsfield and Dade City, Fla., Rita and Blair Libby of Gulfport, Fla., Charlene and Leon Vienneau of Bradley, Joan and Charles Mountain of Mars Hill; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral mass will be held in late spring and will be announced at a later date. RUBY K. HEATH

SHERMAN - Ruby K Heath, 82, passed away Dec. 4, 2003, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 20, 1921, daughter of Eli and Pearl (Watters) King. Ruby married Colby Heath on Dec. 31, 1939. She raised three children and one grandson and worked on the Heath farm for more than 64 years. She will be remembered by all of her family and friends with all the beautiful crocheted doilies, home knit mittens and socks. Her home baked beans, homemade donuts and pickles will be greatly missed at the church suppers and Old Home Days. She is survived by one son, Donald Sr. and his wife, Doris Heath, of Sherman; one daughter, Laura June and her husband, Lawrence Largay, of Brewer; four grandsons, John Heath, whom she raised, Donald Jr. and his wife, Irene Heath, Robert and his wife, Rose Heath, all of Sherman, Nick and wife, Kathy Largay, of Brewer; three granddaughters, Lisa and husband, Rick Cole, of Patten, Kathy Blais of Bangor, Patricia Largay and husband, Brett Feeney, of Brewer; one brother J. Leo and wife, Helen King, of Sherman; one sister, Nina Cunningham of Milford; and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will be fondly remembered and missed by many friends, family and fellow cribbage players. Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Colby Heath; one son, Richard Heath; three brothers, Thomas, Earl and Raymond King and one beloved sister, Ida Parks. Friends may call 7-9 Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Washburn Memorial Church in Sherman, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Rodger Good officiating. Interment will be in Sherman Mills Cemetery. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.

ELOISE RANNEY LARRABEE

PITTSFIELD and CORINNA - Eloise R. Larrabee, 93, widow of Merle L. Larrabee, died Dec. 3, 2003, at a Pittsfield healthcare facility. She was born June 26, 1910, in Lynn, Mass., a daughter of Stephen and Avis (Jones) Ranney. After moving to Corinna at a young age, she attended Corinna schools, including Corinna Union Academy. She graduated from Alberta Business College in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. After returning to Corinna, she worked at the Corinna Post Office for 27 years. She also worked at the Snowflake Canning Company in Corinna. She was predeceased by a sister, Marguerite Beattie in 1967. Eloise is survived by a nephew, Robert Beattie; and two nieces, Gloria McNichol and Joyce Williams, all of Pittsfield. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at North Newport Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport.

FREDERICK 'FRED' LINSCOTT

ELLSWORTH - Frederick "Fred" Linscott, 66, passed on to Heaven, Dec. 4, 2003, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born July 7, 1937, in Ellsworth, the son of Harvard and Ruth (Wood) Linscott. Fred graduated from Ellsworth High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and later worked for the U.S. Postal Dept. for 28 years. He was a person who loved people and was willing to talk to anyone he met. He enjoyed taking part in many plays at the Grand Theatre and was always ready to sing a song at the drop of a hat. Fred was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need and often offered his house-building skills to Habitat for Humanity. "Fred was my beloved husband and a great dad to our two daughters, Lori and Linda. We loved him dearly and will miss him, as will his family and many friends." In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Emery) Linscott, of Ellsworth; his two daughters, Lori Tracy, and her husband, Scott, of Hancock, Linda Pracey and her husband, Jerry, of Florida; three grandchildren, Jessica Tracy of Bangor, Samantha and Vincent Seavey of Florida; a brother, Sidney Linscott, and his wife, Rita, of Trenton; a sister, Eva Davis, and her husband, Warren, of Bar Harbor; brother-in-law, Morris Emery, of Lamoine; and sister-in-law, Muriel Barker of Bradley. Fred was predeceased by his father, Harvard A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at the Jordan Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with the Rev. Christopher Chornyak officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Fred's memory may be made to Habitat For Humanity, Hancock County, P.O. Box 343, Ellsworth, Maine, or, the Mary Dow Clinic, 50 Union Street, Ellsworth, ME 04605.

GWENDOLYN LOUISE GOULD ELLIOTT

CARIBOU and FORT FAIRFIELD - Gwendolyn Louise Gould Elliot, 69, died Dec. 3, 2003, at a Caribou healthcare facility following a long illness. She was born March 17, 1934, at Caribou, the daughter of Ora (Doody) and Norman Jones. Ms. Elliott was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and attended the Presque Isle Normal School. She was employed with Interstate Foods, Fort Fairfield, and was a member of the Celebration Center, Fort Fairfield. She was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Sheila Jones of Caribou, Ralph and Cynthia Jones of Fort Fairfield, Melvin and Kathy Jones of Connecticut; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Philippa and Victor Ciesielski of Mapleton, Elta and Ray Kilcollins of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be conducted in the spring at the Crouseville Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in Ms. Elliott's memory to the Celebration Center, P.O. Box 738, Fort Fairfield, ME 04742. Arrangements in the care of the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.

KATHLEEN I. PRESTON

MACHIAS - Kathleen I. Preston, 101, went to be with her Lord, Dec. 2, 2003 at a Machias hospital after a short illness. She was born Aug. 26, 1902, at Machias, the daughter of Alfred and Emma (Smith) Morse. She resided at the Marshall Assisted Living Center for the past two years. She had lived for many years with Linda and Mac in Kennebec. She loved flowers, and enjoyed playing beano. She loved a good story and always had a molasses cookie and a cup of tea for her visitors. She will be missed by all her loved ones. She was a member of the Kennebec Baptist Church for over 60 years. She spent her life caring for and raising many of her nieces and nephews who she treated and loved as her own. She had a true love for all children. She is survived by special nephews, Clayton Morse and George MacFadden; and nieces and nephews, Laurie, Tyler, Genevieve, Frances, Arlie, Gene, Sondra, Zita, Jolene, Charlene, Helen, Tony, Stephanie, Roland, Emma, Eloise, Alfred, Belden, Joan, Carmen, Peter, Tracy, Monica, Reggie, and Philip; close friends, Clarice, Ellen, Pauline, Avis and many more. She was predeceased by her parents; two infant daughters; brothers and sisters, Morrill, Arlie, Hollis and Lowell, Vivian Foss, Minnie Preston, Dorothy Look, Inez Hooper, Marguerite Davis, Jane Fragale and Cora Wood. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday Dec.5, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Kennebec Baptist Church with Pastor Garnett Chute officiating. Those who wish may make contributions to the Kathleen Preston Scholarship Fund for a Machias girl to further her education. RALPH E. BARNETT

BROOKTON - Ralph E. Barnett, 79, died Dec. 3, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Somerville, Mass., the son of Francis and Marguerite (Weymouth) Barnett. Ralph was a member of the Mason's and the Danforth Methodist Church. Ralph was a civil engineer. He owned his own business as a tax preparer, and was active up until his death. He was a past president of the Augusta Board of Aldermen, and a former member of the 99th State House of Representatives and ran for state senate in 2002. Ralph also belonged to the University of Maine Alumni Association, and was a member of the Land Use Regulation Commission. He was treasurer of the Brookton-Forest City Community Center, a board member of the East Grand Chamber of Commerce and East Grand Medical Center. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Barnett of Virginia; a sister, Frances Hostetter of California; and his constant companion, Maggie, the Scottish terrier. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen (Neal) Barnett; and his brother, Jerome H. Barnett. A Masonic service will be held 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, Houlton Road, Danforth. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at the Danforth Methodist Church with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Eaton Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to the Brookton-Forest City Community Center for refreshments after the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Danforth Methodist Church. Donations may be left at the funeral home.

BANGOR - A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard "Dick" Haney Sr. will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.

BANGOR - Alejandro H. Solorzano, 92, died Dec. 4, 2003, at a Bangor Health Care Facility. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.

BETTY LOU (EMERY) RICHARDS HALL

LEWISTON and PALMYRA - Betty Lou (Emery) Hall, also known as Betty Lou Richards, 59, died April 9, 2004, at her residence with her loving husband, Brad by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 1, 1944, at Hartland, a daughter of Elwood and Irene (Caldwell) Emery. She was employed at Dexter Shoe Company in Newport, Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna, and Banton Brothers Mill in Newport. She is survived by her husband, Bradley Hall Sr. of Lewiston; three daughters, Anna Marie Weston and husband, Nathan, of Madison, Brenda Glidden and husband, Joseph Jr., of St. Albans, and Victoria "Tory" Gray and husband, Tom, of Newport; two sisters, Nancy Bunker and husband, Robert, of Cambridge, and Carol Newton of Florida; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Richardson. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 12, at the Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Lewis Bell officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Maloon Cemetery, St. Albans, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St., Suite 100, Topsham, ME 04086.
