Audrey M. Teel
2000-01-27

Audrey M. Blackington Teel, 95, Rockland, died Jan. 21 at Knox Center.

She was born in Waldoboro, a daughter of Leland C. and Elva Osier Blackington and graduated from Rockland High School in 1922.

Mrs. Teel was a member of the Mussel Ridge Society, Oyster River Bog Association, Knox Pomona Grange and the Rockland Senior Citizens Club. She attended the First Baptist Church.

She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and going out for pie in the afternoons. She was the special friend of Arlene Barter, Patti Wotton and Della Black, who visited her each day.

Her husband, Elmer Teel, died previously. Surviving are a niece, Dorothy Teel of Buxton and several cousins, grandnieces and grand nephews.

Funeral service: Jan. 23, Carpenter Funeral Home, 306 Broadway, Rockland. Burial: In the spring at Achorn Cemetery.

Herbert B. Tibbetts
2000-08-17

Herbert B. Tibbetts, 91, South Portland, died Aug. 15 at the Maine Veterans Home, Scarborough.

He was born in South Bristol, a son of Edward and Maude (Burns) Tibbetts and was educated in South Bristol schools, graduating from South Bristol High School.

He served in the US Army in World War II.

Mr. Tibbetts was employed at the Vast Co. in South Bristol and has resided in South Portland for the past 24 years. He enjoyed carving models of boats and birds. He was a member of the American Legion in South Portland.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mae N. Tibbetts of South Portland; daughter Faye Tibbetts Graham of Cape Elizabeth; grandsons Brent M. Graham of Cape Elizabeth and Troy S. Graham of Allston, Mass.; great grandson Matthew G. Graham of Cape Elizabeth; and sister Geraldine Kelsey of South Bristol.

There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 18 at the West Bristol (Walpole) cemetery in South Bristol.

If desired, contributions may be made to the South Bristol Union Congregational Church, South Bristol 04568. Arrangements are by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland.

Rev. John Thorp
2000-11-23

The Reverend John Van De Water Thorp, died Friday, November 17 in the Gregory Wing of St. Andrews Village.

Rev. Thorp was a former resident of at Plum Creek, Hanover, Penn. and recently of St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor. He served as an Episcopalian priest at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Wakefield, Mass. for 30 years.

Rev. Thorp was a native of New York City, a graduate of Trinity School in New York City, Hamilton College and the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the New Guinea and Luzon Campaigns.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Cloughen Thorp of Boothbay Harbor; three children, John V. Thorp Jr., Roberta T. Miller, and Christine T. Joule; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The Rev. Margaret Russell, Vicar of the church, will read the Burial Office at St. Columba's Episcopal Church, Route 27 in Boothbay, on Sunday, November 26 at 2:30 p.m.

Interment will follow at a later date in the family lot in Brookside Cemetery, Gilbertsville, New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Columba's Building Fund, P.O.. Box 297, Boothbay, ME 04537.

Kenward T. Thumith
2001-05-31

Kenward Thomas Thumith of East Boothbay, died Thursday, May 24 at St. Andrews Hospital.

Born in York, Maine, he was the son of Kenward S. and Jacquelyn Lenney Thumith.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Penelope McKinnon Thumith; one daughter, Jacquelyn Rene Campbell of Kennebunk; one son, Kenward T. Thumith II of Kittery; four grandchildren, Morgan Campbell, Collin Campbell and Catherine Campbell, all of Kennebunk, and Thomas Beau Thumith of Kittery; and one sister, Dianne Begley of Kittery Point.

Gifts may be made in his memory to: Free Bed Fund, c/o Sarah E. Giles, 8 Campbell Street, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.

Arrangements are by Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home in Boothbay.

Gilman Tuell
2000-08-24

WEST PARIS - Gilman E. Tuell, Sr., 80, of Main Street, West Paris, died Thursday afternoon as a result of an ATV accident.

Mr. Tuell was born on Trap Corner Hill, West Paris, March 16, 1920, the son of the late George and Lillian (Mogoun) Tuell.

He attended the South Woodstock School, and was a life-long resident of West Paris. A logger by vocation, he had been associated with his father-in-law, A. R. Henderson Logging, Inc. forthe greater part of his career.

Mr. Tuell, a veteran of World War II, served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, with the U. S Army.

He married the formerOlive Hendrickson, on June 20, 1943; she pre-deceased him in 1957.

Mr. Tuellenjoyed raising, training, and showingyoung steers at the various fairs in both Maine, and NewHampshire.

He is survived by a daughter, Gilda Hill, of Norway; a son, Gilman E. Tuell, Jr., with whom he made his home; four sisters, Margaret King, of Binghamton, NY, Clarabel Poland, of South Woodstock, Helen Estes of South Paris, and Barbara Cash, of Oxford; a grandson, Jeffrey Hill, of New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews, as well as his companion of over 30 years, Laura Heikkinen, of South Paris.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26, at 10 a.m., at the Wayside Cemetery, West Paris, to which friends are invited. Please omit flowers.

Donations may be made to Tri-Town Rescue, P.O. Box 275, W. Paris, ME 04289, in his memory. Arrangements are by the Andrews Funeral Home, South Woodstock

Albion B. Tibbetts
2000-12-21

Albion B. Tibbetts, 71, died Tuesday, December 12, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, after a long illness.

Born January 5, 1929 in Bath, he was the son of Walter Sr. and Lelia Paris Tibbetts. He grew up and attended local schools on Southport. He was a lobsterman all his life and also did purse seining and caught sardines. He loved his work and most of all loved traveling with his family. He was always willing to help others.

Survivors include his wife, Fern Tibbetts of West Southport and Bath; son, Craig and his wife Lynn Tibbetts of Augusta; one daughter, Martha and her husband David Dickson of Bath; two brothers, Gordon and his wife Beverly of West Southport and Edward Tibbetts of Southport; one sister, Bea Hawke of Boothbay Harbor; two grandsons, Jacob Tibbetts of Augusta and Joshua Benner of Spanaway, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 16 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home. Interment followed at Spruce Lawn in Southport.

Arrangements were by Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home in Boothbay.

Albion Tibbetts
2000-12-14

Albion Tibbetts, 71, of Southport, died Tuesday, December 12 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. and a funeral will be held Saturday, December 16 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home in Boothbay. Burial will be in Spruce Lawn cemetery in Southport.

Charlene D. (Tolman) Tiffin
2001-06-21

Charlene D. Tolman Tiffin, 59, Waldoboro died June 6 in Augusta after a long illness.

She was born in Thomaston, a daughter of Carl and Doris Tolman, and attended Rockland schools. She had lived here since 1971 with her husband, Carroll Tiffin, who died in 1999.

She was a mother and a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, listening to country music and caring for her many pets. She had a great sense of humor, her family said.

Surviving are two daughters, Delores Withee Ogden of Waldoboro and Karen Withee of Rockland; a son, Ronald Emerton of Rockland; two sisters, Geraldine Low of Rockland and Carolyn Hahnl of Rockland; a brother, Daniel Tolman of Lewiston; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial service 2 p.m. Mon., June 11 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., with the Rev. Bertram Dilks officiating. Graveside service 1 p.m. Tues., June 12 in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.

Grace E. Thompsen
2001-06-14

Grace Elizabeth Thompsen of Omaha, Nebraska died in her home Wednesday, May 23, 2001.

Born in Boothbay Harbor on November 30, 1924, she was the daughter of Wallace and Ruth Hanna Pierce.

Mrs. Thompsen and her sister Madelon (Maddie) Pinkham of Brunswick, recently provided family history to the Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse committee. Their parents married in the Breakwater Lighthouse where her father was keeper at the turn of the century. Their father, Keeper Pierce, was a direct descendant of Abraham Pierce who served with Miles Standish in Plymouth Colony.

Mrs. Thompsen's mother Ruth's father was a sea captain from Five Islands, as was her great-uncle, Marcus Hanna's father. Keeper Hanna earned the Gold Lifesaving Medal for saving two ship-wrecked seamen in a 1885 blizzard off Cape Elizabeth's Two Towers Lighthouse. Their family history, with Keeper Pierce's photo, can be found on the world wide web at the "Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse" Website.

In 1997, Mrs. Thompsen wrote a book about the World War II Navy years of her husband of 53 years, Paul Andrew Thompsen who died March 6, 2000.

Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a brother, Paul E. Pierce of Brunswick; and grandson, Andy R. Baltzell of Yukon, Oklahoma.

Survivors include one sister, Madelon Pinkham of Brunswick; daughters and sons-in-law, Judith Alice and Trey Chancellor of Yukon, Okla., Frances Sharon and Henry Knape, James Robert and Barbara Oliver, all of Omaha; grandchildren, David and Todd Baltzell, Becky Miller, Tiffany Chancellor, Elizabeth Roe, Jennifer Bennett, Aaron Knape, John and Jason Oliver; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Blake and Brittany Baltzell, Jyssica and Kristin Miller, Scott Knape, Paul Foley, Sten Roe, Rachael and Preston Bennett, Elizabeth Oliver and Melody Jones; nieces, nephews, cousins, and her cat Semmie.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 26 at the Roeder Chapel in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dorothy V. Tanyer
2001-05-03

Dorothy Virginia Tanyer, 88, Warren, died April 25 at her home.

She was born October 7, 1912, the daughter of John and Mary Cellatz of Camden, N.J.

She was predeceased by her husband Raymond of Belivar, PA.

She is survived by sons: John Tanyer and wife Linda of Midland City, AL, Rev. Ray Tanyer and wife Sheryl of Westlake, Ohio; daughters: Violet Cunnert of Anaheim, Cal. Shirley Hollaway and husband Jim of Warren, Louise Ward and husband Charles of Reno, NV.

Seven Grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. They are: Steve Seabell of Riverside, Cal., Chuck Cunnert of Sacremento, Cal., Mark Cunnert and wife Kathy of Long Beach, Cal., Laura Sanborn of Dartmouth, Mass., and her children. Kevin aboard the U.S. ship JC Stenus, Shawn and Erin of Mashpee, Mass., Robert Holloway and wife Nancy and daughter Rebecca of Warren, Diana Yows and her children Tamara and Robert of Lakeforest, Cal., Christina Ellis and husband Jeff and their children, Elizabeth and Jessica of Huston, Tex., Conseulo Clark of Millville, N.J. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Marlett of Summerville, NJ.

There will not be any service at her request. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro.

Dallas F. Taylor
2001-06-21

Dallas F. Taylor, Sr., 79, Warren, passed away June 4 in Rockport.

Dallas was born August 2, 1921 in East Boston, Mass., the son of Albert and Mabel Tyler Taylor.

He was the Past Grand Master of the I.O.O.F. of the State of Massachusetts.

He was a faithful volunteer at the Owl’s Head Museum and belonged to the Odd Fellows Hall in Warren. He enjoyed yard work and riding the back 40 on his riding lawn mower. He loved to watch basketball, hockey and car racing and was a big fan of A.J. Foyt.

He was he beloved husband of Doris Ford Taylor who passed away in 1995.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Doris Ford Taylor (1995) and brother, William Taylor.

He is survived by son, Dallas F. Taylor, Jr. of Billerica, Mass.; daughter, Judith Meinhardt and husband George of Winthrop, Mass.; grandchildren, Craig Meinhardt of Medford, Mass.; Denise Nealon of Malden, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Craig Nealon of Malden, Mass.; Sarah Anne Meinhardt of Medford, Mass.; brother, Albert Taylor of Hanover, Mass.; sister, Mabel Jane St. George of Winthrop, Mass.

Visiting hours 4-8 p.m., Sun., June 10 at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop Street, Winthrop, Mass. Funeral 10 a.m. Mon., June 11 at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home.
