Toni Ladakakos

SACO — Toni Ladakakos, 81, of Oceanside Drive died Sunday at Southridge Living and Rehabilitation Center after an illness with cancer.

She was born Dec. 16, 1917 in Rollinsford, N.H., a daughter of Greek immigrants George and Pota Mandros Rizeakos. One of 11 children, she was a self-educated woman who had to leave public school before the eighth grade to help support her family, survivors say.

A Saco resident for the past 65 years, Mrs. Ladakakos was a constant source of stability, support and hospitality for her family and community, and family members say she had her husband believed family and hearth were the cornerstones of a fulfilling life.

Mrs. Ladakakos was known in the Greek community as an indefatigable worker. She was an active member of the Sorority of Lacones, St. Fontini Ladies' Society of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, and was the annual coordinator of her pastry-making specialties, diples and tiganithes. As well, she was an active supporter of the church's relocation and its many fundraising activities, survivors say.

Mrs. Ladakakos owned and operated Toni's Beauty Shop in Old Orchard Beach for 40 years. Her business resulted in a number of lifelong friendships and her former clients often visited her at home after she retired.

She was predeceased by her husband, George L. Ladakakos in 1989 and by a daughter, Patricia L. Somerville in 1970.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Mrs.). John) L. Xanthopolous of Saco; three brothers, Harry Mendros of Norman, Okla.; James Mendros of Kittery and John Mendros of Lewiston; two sisters, Vassie Caros and Dorothy Pappavasiliou, both of Saco; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Claire Dubois

BIDDEFORD — Former resident Claire G. Dubois, 68, died Wednesday at home in West Yarmouth, Mass.

She was born March 9, 1931 in Biddeford, a daughter of Diomede and Flore (Potvin) Boissonnault, and was educated locally.

Mrs. Dubois and her family lived in eight states as her husband was relocated during his career, and moved to West Yarmouth in 1970.

Mrs. Dubois was an active volunteer, teaching arts and crafts and playing piano at Cranberry Point Nursing Home, Harwich and Liberty Commons Nursing Home, Chatham. As well, she was a volunteer with the Special Olympics of Cape Cod and received an award for her dedication and commitment.

She was active in her garden and enjoyed arts and crafts and playing piano for friends and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Raymond L. Dubois of West Yarmouth; three sons, Raymond L. Jr. of Plymouth, Mass., Michael R. of West Yarmouth and Richard R. of Hingham, Mass.; a daughter, Celeste M. of West Yarmouth; two brothers, Norman and Roger Boissonnault, both of Biddeford; a sister, Madeline Perreault of Biddeford; and eight grandchildren.

Dorothy Beaulieu

SPRINGVALE — Dorothy F. Beaulieu, 73, of Pleasant Street died Friday at Goodall Hospital, Sanford.

She was born Dec. 23, 1925 in Berlin, N.H., a daughter of Henry and Lillian Cropley Gilbert, and attended schools in Berlin and Gilman, Vt.

For many years Mrs. Beaulieu was employed in home health care.

She served as an Eucharistic minister for people in their homes, and was a member of the Altar Society at St. Ignatius Church.

Mrs. Beaulieu enjoyed music and reading.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest J. Beaulieu of Springvale; two sons, Bruce of Buxton and Roderick of Sanford; a brother, Herbert Gilbert of Berlin; a sister, Glenna Brook of Berlin; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

LADAKAKOS

TONI H., of Saco died Nov. 7 (1999) in Biddeford. Visiting hours 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Cote Funeral Home, Beach and James streets, Saco. Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Biddeford. Burial at St. Demetrios Cemetery. CECILE M., formerly of Biddeford, died Nov. 7 (1999) in Lewiston. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at The Fortin Group Funeral Home, Turner and Center streets, Auburn. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Lewiston. Burial at St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Dominic's Regional High School, Lewiston.

FOSTER CHADBOURNE, of North Berwick died Nov. 6 (1999) in Sanford. Visiting hours 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Heald Funeral Home, Springvale where a ritualistic service by Bauneg Beg Grange will be held 4:30 p.m. and a Masonic ritualistic service will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home; Rev. Jo Bennett, pastor of The Church on the cape officiating. Burial at Oakdale Cemetery, Sanford. THOMPSON

MARIE, formerly of Saco, died Nov. 6 (1999) in Portland. Visiting hours 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James streets, Saco, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday; Rev. Don Bosco officiating. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Biddeford.

Grace Duquette

SANFORD -- Grace Maude Bilder Duquette, 82, of Main Street, died Thursday at Goodall Hospital.

She was born in East Waterboro on Nov. 9, 1917, the daughter of Chester and Alice Goodwin Flanders, and attended local schools.

She was employed as a spinner and doffer in the former Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills. She was also a stitcher at the former Sanford Dress Shop and retired in 1975.

For many years she was married to George Bilder, who died in 1988. She married Amie Duquette in 1992 and had lived in Berwick and Sanford since then. She attended Curtis Lake Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband of Berwick; a son, Donald Labbe of Alhambra, Calif.; five daughters, Janet Goodwin of Deland, Fla., Norma LaRoche of Alfred, Dora Block of Springvale, Nancy Labbe of Pensacola, Fla. and Betty Deyo of Portsmouth, N.H.; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Janette Gerrish

OLD ORCHARD BEACH -- Janette Gerrish, 69, of Pine Wood Manor in Ocean Park, died Saturday at St. Andre's Health Care Facility in Biddeford.

She was born Feb. 24, 1931 in Vinalhaven Island, a daughter of Armand F. and Leontine Berube Lodoux, and attended Old Orchard Beach High School.

Mrs. Gerrish had been employed by Morningstar of Kennebunk and later by Components of Kennebunk.

She was a former member of the Common Connection Club in Biddeford and the Old Orchard Beach Methodist Church.

Survivors include her mother of Biddeford; her husband, Frank Gerrish of Naples; three sons, John M. of Palermo, David S. of Naples and Thomas P. of Windsor; three brothers, Marcel Joseph Lodoux of Biddeford, Joseph R. Ledoux of Atlanta, Ga. and Victor Ledoux of Old Orchard Beach; two sisters, Lucienne M. Cook of Burlington, Mass. and Adele Ledoux of Old Orchard Beach; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara Mayo

SANFORD -- Barbara J. Mayo, 73, of Greenwood Center, died Friday.

She was born April 16, 1926 in Landsdown, Pa., the daughter of George and Helen Weaver French, moved to Center Harbor, N.H. in her youth and attended Keene State College.

Following her marriage to Arthur J. Mayo, they moved to Silver Lake, N.H.

Her husband died in 1982.

Mrs. Mayo had lived in Sanford since 1988.

Surviving are two sons, Anthony J. of Bangor and James S. of Berwick; a daughter, Kimberley A. Spring of Wells; two sisters, Norma Allyn and Marjorie Stanley, both of California; a brother, George French of California; and two grandchildren.

Edward Michaud

LIMINGTON -- Edward Ludger Michaud, 86, of Pauls Way, died Friday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born in South Berwick on Nov. 28, 1913, the son of Ludger and Lille Blais Michaud, graduated from Berwick Academy in 1932 and attended the University of New Hampshire and Wentworth Institute in Boston.

For many years he was a self-employed machinist.

Edward and his wife Gladys retired to the Limington area in 1977.

He enjoyed furniture making, painting and carving. At one time he taught a night class for carving for SAD 6.

Survivors included his wife of 61 years of Limington; his stepmother, Delphine Auger of South Berwick; two sons, Leslie of Marriottsville, Md. and David of Winthrop; a daughter, Susan McCarthy of Hollis; two brothers, Antonio Michaud of Port Richey, Fla. and Oscar Michaud of Rollinsford, N. H.; two sisters, Dorothy Anderson of South Berwick and Carol Gaudreault of Naples, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Beatrice Petrillo

OLD ORCHARD BEACH -- Beatrice Anne Thomasino Petrillo, 91, of The Birches, died Sunday at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

She was born in Southington, Conn., a daughter of Gaetano and Marie Sirullo Thomasino, attended Southington schools and graduated from Lewis High School. A registered nurse, she graduated from New Britain General School of Nursing in 1935.

Her nursing career included many years as a private nurse at the Meridian Hospital and as a school nurse for the Southington School Department.

She married John A. Petrillo in 1937. He died in 1989.

One of 11 children, Mrs. Petrillo was considered a strong central figure by her family. Among her many hobbies and interests were crocheting afghans for family members, friends and charitable organizations and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Michael) Magaudda of Old Orchard Beach and Camille (Mrs. Francis) Wojcik of Pittsfield, Mass.; a son, John J. of Cape Elizabeth; a sister, Mary Banks of Meridan, Conn.; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Cameron Price

HOLLIS -- Cameron Edward Stockman Price died at birth Friday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Survivors include his mother, Jennie Stockman of Hollis; his father, Steven Price Jr. of Limington; grandparents Valerie Small of Hollis, Joseph and Susan Allman of Hollis and Melanie and Steven Price Sr. of Limington; and great-grandparents Charlie Irish of East Baldwin and Susan Harmon of Limington.

SIMINSKI

CATHERINE, 81, died Feb. 24 at the Pine Point Nursing Care Center in Scarborough. She was born Apr. 18, 1918 in Scarborough, a daughter of Fred and Amy Skillings Googins. A member of the Blue Point Congregational Church, she enjoyed walking the beach, bingo, the Boston Red Sox and Celtics and her grandchildren's activities. Survivors include four daughters, Jeanne Davis and Betty Leclair, both of Old Orchard Beach, and Dianne McLellan and Judy Shirk, both of Scarborough; two sons, Michael and Stanley of Boston; two sisters, Marjorie Bostwick and Gloria Carson, both of Scarborough; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held today at Hay & Peabody Funeral Home, Scarborough. Spring burial will be in Black Point Cemetery, Scarborough.

Carl Wurzbacher

MOODY -- Carl Theodore Wurzbacher, 88, died Saturday at Varney Crossing Nursing Care Center in North Berwick.

He was born in Lawrence, Mass. in December 1911, a son of Carl John and Minnie Hoppe Wurzbacher, and graduated from Wentworth Institute in Boston.

Mr. Wurzbacher was a mail supervisor on the Boston-to-Bangor train route and the mobile highway Post Office until retirement in 1971. He spent many years in Lantana, Fla. and summers in Ogunquit before moving to Wells.

He was a member of the Ogunquit Baptist Church and an elder member of Faith Presbyterian Church of Palm Springs, Fla. He was a member of many bible study groups in Florida.

He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, collecting and reading maps, bowling, playing shuffleboard and reading.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Jean Douglas Wurzbacher of Wells; a son. Carl T. Jr. of Hartsville, S.C.; a stepson, Arthur Wright of Rochester, N.H.; a daughter, Karen Zerlaut of Carlsbad, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Jean L. Ladderbush of Ogunquit; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

GERRISH

JANETTE, of Ocean Park, died Feb. 26 (2000) in Biddeford. Visiting hour 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday at Cote Funeral Home, Beach and James streets, Saco, followed by a noon memorial service, the Rev. Doug Mays officiating; burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 52 Federal St., Brunswick 04011 or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Chapter, 175 Lancaster St., P.O. Box 8730, Portland 04104.

MAYO

BARBARA J., died Feb. 25 (2000) in Sanford. Funeral service 4 p.m. Tuesday at the First Parish Federated Church, 150 Main St., South Berwick, the Rev. Donna Lee Muise officiating; spring burial in Meredith, N.H. Memorial donations may be made to the First Parish Federated Church. Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Fryeburg.
