EDWARD L., of Limington, died Feb. 25 (2000) in Portland. Visiting hours 4-7 p.m. today at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Road, Buxton, with a 6 p.m. memorial service. Family suggests that donations may be made in his memory to Limington Rescue, P.O. Box 240, Limington 04049.

PETRILLO

BEATRICE ANNE THOMASINO, of Old Orchard Beach, died Feb. 27 (2000) in Biddeford. Visiting hours 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main St., Southington, Conn. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Southington; burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lifeline Program at Southern Maine Medical Center, 1 Mountain Road, Biddeford 04005.

Yvonne Guay

SACO - Yvonne Guay, 60, of Boom Road, died Monday (listed Tuesday, December 9, 1997) at Southern Maine Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 26, 1937, in Biddeford, a daughter of Leon and Marie Ange Houle Ste. Marie, was educated in Biddeford schools and graduated from St. Andre's High School.

For many years Mrs. Guay was employed as a bookkeeper at West Point Pepperell and then with Fisher James, retiring two years ago.

Her primary interests were her family and home.

She was a member of St. Andre's Church.

Her husband, Paul R. Guay, died Dec. 22, 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Melody Ann Ross of Nicaragua; two sons, Shawn Robert Ross of South Portland and Christopher Damon Ross of North Waterboro; a stepdaughter, Carrie Paulette Guay Robinson of Saco; a stepson, Christopher Paul Guay of Saco; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Yvette) Cote of North Waterboro, Mrs. Thomas (Lorraine) Fleurant and Mrs. Donald (Doris) Spenard, both of Biddeford; seven grandchildren.

Earl Jensen

SANFORD - Earl S. Jensen, 83, of New Dam Road, died Sunday (listed Tuesday, December 9, 1997) at the Newton Center after a long illness.

He was born May 17, 1914, in Portland, a son of Jens P. and Florence M. Hoxi Jensen, and attended Portland schools.

Mr. Jensen worked for a time as a salesman with AAA in Portland. In 1969 he moved to Florida and was employed as superintendent of maintenance at Hernando County Courthouse. In 1983 he returned to Maine and had lived in Sanford.

He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows in Portland.

His wife, Linnea Bracy Jensen, died in September.

Survivors include a daughter, Sally Watkins of Boulder Dam, Nev.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Fred Johnson Jr.

WELLS - Fred E. Johnson Jr., 64, of Burnt Mill Road, died unexpectedly Sunday (listed Tuesday, December 9, 1997) at H.D. Goodall Hospital.

He was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Malden, Mass., a son of Fred E. and Laura Johnson.

For several years Mr. Johnson was employed by P.R. Boston Paving before working for the town of Wells for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Elinor Archibald Johnson of Wells; a son, Raymond of Sanford; a half-brother, Frank E. of West Medford, Mass.; a half-sister, Patricia Fialli of Everett, Mass.; his step-mother Edna May Johnson of West Medford.

Bryanna Legere

NORTH BERWICK - Bryanna Lynn Legere, infant daughter of Bob and Tracy Lopez Legere of Valley Road, died at birth Nov. 18 (1997) at H.D. Goodall Hospital.

Survivors include her parents and twin sister, Kelsey Amanda, all of North Berwick; a sister, Ashley of Springvale; her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Sharon Lopez of Tewksbury, Mass.

Raymond Warner

BIDDEFORD - Raymond Warner, 75, of Proctor Road, died Monday (listed Tuesday, January 20, 1998) at Southern Maine Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St.

Paul Desmond

BIDDEFORD - Paul P. Desmond, 57, of May Street, died at home Sunday (listed Tuesday, January 20, 1998) after a long illness.

He was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Lowell, Mass., a son of William F. and Anna E. Kroll Desmond, moved to Arundel as a child, was educated in Biddeford schools and attended St. Louis High School.

On Sept. 21, 1961, he married Priscilla Paris in Biddeford.

Mr. Desmond was employed by local machine shops.

He was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 804 in Biddeford, enjoyed chess and reading.

Survivors include his wife of Biddeford; two sons, Michael and Troy, both of Springvale; a daughter, Lisa Ball of Sabattus; two sisters, Marcia Boyne of Fredericksburg, Va., and Anna E. Lanoie of Sanford; five brothers, Donald J. of Biddeford, William F. of Arundel, Dennis P. of Springvale, Ralph E. of Sanford and John B. of Old Orchard Beach; three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, one stepgreat-grandchild, several nieces nephews, aunts and uncles.

Mary Reiter

WELLS - Mary E. Dickerson Reiter, 89, of North Berwick Road, died Sunday (listed Tuesday, January 20, 1998) at Kennebunk Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 8, 1908, in Rosman, N.C., the daughter of Fitzhugh and Edith Glazener Galloway, and graduated from a western North Carolina high school.

For many years Mrs. Reiter was employed as a telephone operator for AT&T. After moving to Maine in 1947 she worked as a switchboard operator for several area hotels, managed the Dunes Motel in Rye, N.H., and was an operator when wintering in Florida.

She was a member of the Wells Congregational Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, H. Lee Reiter, in 1989.

Survivors include four sons, William, Vincent, Daniel and Robert, all of Wells; a daughter, Delane Duggan of Groveland, Mass.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Teresa Auchmoody

OLD ORCHARD BEACH - Teresa S. Auchmoody, 75, of Lake Avenue, died Monday (listed Tuesday, December 1, 1998) at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford.

She was born Dec. 31, 1922 in Staten Island, N.Y., a daughter of Pietro and Carmilla DeRoss DiMarco, and graduated from McKee High School and Baker’s Business College there. She was also a graduate of the Salvation Army School for Officer’s Training in New York City, where she was a member of the Fearless Session.

In June, 1945, she was appointed to the Portland and Medford, Mass. Corps.

After her marriage in 1946, she served with her husband in a number of communities, including Winstead and Middletown Conn., Keene and Rochester, N.H., North Adams, Hyde Park, Holyoke, Boston Central Corps, Salvation Army Red Shield and Boston Rehabilitation Center, and Divisional Headquarters Hillcrest Lodge, Sharon, all in Mass., and Booth Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.

She retired to Old Orchard Beach in 1983.

Mrs. Auchmoody was a member of the Old Orchard Beach Salvation Army Corps.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Oscar Auchmoody of Old Orchard Beach; two sons, Richard of San Francisco, Calif. and David of Medford, Mass.; two daughters, Ruth Johnson of Old Orchard Beach and Judy Tompkins of Jackson, Miss.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Helen Chasse

KENNEBUNK - Former resident Helen M. Chasse, 85, of Stover Court died at home Monday (listed Tuesday, December 1, 1998).

She was born Sept. 1, 1913 in West Kennebunk, a daughter of Jessie M. Charette and Leslie O. Pike, and attended local schools.

Mrs. Chasse was employed at Kesslen Shoe Co., Kennebunk.

She was past president of the Amesbury PTA, a member of Y’s Mennets, Daughters of Isabella, St. Anthony’s Guild, Red Cross Volunteers and Community Service, and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, now known as Holy Family.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Antonio J. Chasse; four sons, Michael A. of Springvale, Antonio J. Jr. of Haverhill, Mass., Charles L. and John P. Chasse of Amesbury; two daughters, Carol A. Lariviere of Danville, N.H. and Frances R. Blanock of Beaverton, Ore.; two brothers, Homer Pike of Kennebunk and Arnold Pike of West Kennebunk; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

John Holter

WELLS - Dr. John A. Holter, 72, of Wells, died Friday (listed Tuesday, December 1, 1998) at Mercy Hospital, Portland.

He was born Oct. 20, 1926 in Jefferson, Md., a son of Cecil K. and Elsie Remsberg Holter Sr., was a 1943 graduate of Middletown High School and received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Holter was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Europe during the Korean War. After the war, he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., where he received his master’s and doctoral degrees in animal nutrition.

He was formerly a faculty member at Beaver Country Day School, Brookline, Mass. Upon moving to Maine, he became a member of the development committee for the new division of Nasson College in Springvale.

After his career in education, Dr. Holter became an active partner in Holter-Roberts Antiques, Wells, and later Maine-Le Crafts, Boothbay Harbor. At the time of his death, his business had spread throughout the New England states.

His interests included music, antiques, art, drama and farming. Dr. Holter had an extensive knowledge of purebred cattle, and most recently he held a partnership in a Sanford farm, where he enjoyed spending as much time as possible, survivors say.

William A. Roberts of Sanford was his lifelong friend and partner.

Dr. Holter was predeceased by a brother, Robert H. Holter.

Survivors include two brothers, C.K. of Frederick, Md. and Richard R. of Jefferson, Md.; five nephews and one niece.

Hersey Vannah

WELLS - Former resident Hersey Vannah, 77, of Edgewood, N.M., died Saturday (listed Tuesday, December 1, 1998) at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital, Albuquerque, N.M.

He was born Aug. 28, 1921 in Wells, a son of Edwin and Ethel Hersey Vannah, and attended local schools.

Mr. Vannah served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a prisoner of war in the Philippines.

He was a refinery worker and operator for Mobil Oil Company, and after his retirement, made his home in New Mexico, where he was a member of the Roadrunners, a group of Mobil retirees.

Mr. Vannah was a member of Ocean Lodge AF & AM, Wells.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Kennedy Vannah of Edgewood; two sons, Edwin I. of Edgewood and Nathan P. of Cold Springs, Colo.
