COPADO, GARY LEE, was born on November 8, 1958 in Trenton, Michigan. He died unexpectedly on July 17th in Oceanside, California. Mr. Copado proudly served his country for twenty years with the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of gunnery sergeant. As a member of the multi-national peacekeeping force in Beirut, Lebanon, Mr. Copado was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for intelligence gathering operations and combat patrols. In 1991, while assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Operation Desert Storm, he was awarded the Kuwait Liberation Medal. He participated in direct combat operational support for the US and UN forces in Operation Restore Hope in Mogadishu, Somalia. Throughout his military career, Mr. Copado was an Arabic linguist working directly with the FBI, DEA, US Attorney Generals Office, State Department and the UN. During his distinguished military career he was also awarded the Navy Accommodation Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Marine Expeditionary Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Bronze Star. Mr. Copado began his career with the San Diego Sector Border Patrol in 1997 as an intelligence research specialist assigned to the sector intelligence unit where he was instrumental in implementing the leads database. While assigned to this unit he received a promotion to the anti-smuggling unit as an intelligence research specialist. He was responsible for collecting, analyzing and disseminating information and data to the agents and played an integral role in case support to the unit. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Assunta "Tina" Copado; his mother, and step-father, Colleen and James Adair; his father and step-mother, Pedro and Doris Copado; his daughters, Angela and Marlena Copado; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Donna Copado, John Gregory and Mary Copado; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol (Copado) and Tim Wheaton, Shirley (Copado) and David Wood. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Cabrillo Federal Credit Union in the name of Assunta, Angela and Marlena Copado.

CROWLEY, DENNIS P., July 27, 2002, age 58. Beloved father of Denise (William) Crowley-Petts and Lisa King. Proud grandfather of Billy and Mark Anthony. Loving son of the late Elizabeth and the late David Crowley Sr. Dearest brother of David (Virginia) Crowley, Laverne (Ed) Miller, Christine (Dale) Conway and the late Judy Bray. Also survived by special niece Angela (Jonathan) Martin and many other special nieces and nephews. Mr. Crowley was a dedicated counselor on the staff of Sobriety House and a faithful member of AA for the past 11 years.
