LEAS, MARY ALICE SCHWARZ Died Friday, August 3, 2001, at Canterbury-on-the-Lake, Waterford, Michigan. She was born October 27, 1915, at home in Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Leas lived in Royal Oak, Michigan, and formerly in Huntington Woods, Michigan. hMrs. Leas was pre-deceased by her parents, Alice Mary Gowan Schwarz, and Frank L. Schwarz, founder of Schwarz Foundry, Detroit; by her siblings, Eleanor Alicia Schwarz Charett, Dorothy Lorraine Schwarz Forsyth, and Frank W. Schwarz, Sr.; and by her husband, Edgar Nile Leas, owner of Leas Pharmacy in Southfield, Michigan, who died in 1963. hMrs. Leas leaves behind her children, The Rev. Bercry Eleanor Leas of Royal Oak, Michigan, Michael Nile Leas of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Alice Mary Leas (Jeffrey) Zaher of Knoxville, Tennesee; her grandchildren, Bret Jeffrey Zaher of Easly, South Carolina, Alecia Marie Zaher (Jimmy) Stewart of Fort Carson, Colorado, and Sean Michael Leas of Warren, Michigan; and her great-grandchildren, Cody Sean Leas and Brendan Tyler Stewart. hMrs. Leas grew up in Highland Park, Michigan, and graduated from Highland Park Community College and Detroit Business University. She was the co-owner of Leas Pharmacy in Southfield, Michigan, with her husband, and was the office manager for David Litwin, MD, and, later, David Hawtof, MD. hMrs. Leas was a member and coordinator of the Huntington Woods Bridge Club from 1946 to 1960, a member of the Royal Oak Woman's Club and its president from 1989-1991, and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Royal Oak, Michigan. hMrs. Leas will have a private family interment at Woodlawn cemetery, Detroit. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, Royal Oak, Michigan, on Saturday, August 11, 2001, at 10 a.m. hMemorials may be given to St. John's Episcopal Church, Royal Oak, Michigan or Canterbury-on-the-Lake, Waterford, Michigan.

LeBLANC, GEORGE J. Beloved husband and father. Age 79, died on July 31st at his home in the Villages of Lady Lake, Florida. Mr. LeBlanc was born on April 29, 1922, in Cheboygan, Michigan. He studied engineering at Michigan Tech University for two and a half years, and was drafted into the Army and served in Greenland during World War II. He changed his career plans and graduated from the University of Detroit and Wayne State University with a Master's Degree in Music. As a professional musician for 45 years, Mr. LeBlanc was a director of music and choir director at several churches in the Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, including Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, in Detroit and for the last 25 years, St. Regis Church, in Birmingham. He taught music at several elementary and high schools and was Dean of Studies at the Palestrina Institute of Music. He was a well-respected teacher of piano and organ. He was and avid photographer and enjoyed gourmet cooking. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Michigan Music Educators Association. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leona (Rucinski) LeBlanc, daughters Alyce (husband Robert Brinton) of Landstuhl, Germany, Jeanne, of New York, NY, Mary Ellen LeBlanc, of Ann Arbor, MI, sons Paul, of Denton, TX, George, Jr. (wife Jessani Gordon), of Milford, NJ, sister Dorothy Hanson, brothers John and Rev. David, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Mary Alice, Rosalie Lozon, and Joan Addy. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, to Alzheimer's Association, 929 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 60611-1676 or the American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc., 1250 Hylan Blvd., Suite 4B, Staten Island, NY 10305-1946.

SMITH, HAROLD ROBERT, Age 73, of Cadillac, MI. Died August 2, 2001 at his home in Cadillac. Born in Wayne County, Detroit, MI on October 1, 1927 to John Henry and Hazel May (Beek) Smith. He married Betty J. Holupka on April 7, 1999. He worked for Chrysler as a Mechanical Engineer. He belonged to the Moose Lodge #531 of Cadillac & The American Legion Post #94 of Cadillac. Belonged to the Elks Lodge of Livonia. He was an Ambassador of the Shriners, at the Masonic Temple. Also belonged to The Bogus Golf Club. survived by wife Betty Smith, brothers-in-law Pat (Sharon) Moran, and Bob (Jane) Moore; four step- children, nine step-grandchildren, five nieces, three nephews and six great-nieces and nephews. Memorial services will take place at a later date in the Livonia area. Memorial tributes can be made to Shrine Burn Center or Hospice of Michigan. Local arrangements handled by The Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac, MI.
