MURIE, MARION V., of Wixom, MI. Died Friday, August 18, 2000, at 88 years of age. Dear mother of the late Sr. Ann M. Murie, IHM, Kathleen Brandimore, Joan (Douglas) Mathiesen, and Michael (Janet) Murie. Sister of Charles LeMiere and the late Frank LeMiere. Grandmother of nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Murie was a long time active member of St. Francis DeSalles Parish of Detroit, an ardent supporter of IHM Mother House, Monroe, MI, and an active member of the St. Patrick 50 and Up Club. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2000 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Rd., White Lake. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Rd., White Lake. There will also be visitation Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. There will be a 50 and Up Rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday. Wife of the late John Anthony Popp (died February 7, 1999) . Loving mother of Sharon Ann (Richard) Harwell, Sandra Marie Popp, Frederick Carl Popp, Suzanne Pokowski and Sara Jane (John) Jarrell. Caring sister of Mary, Joseph, Edward, Lois, Norman, Jeanette and Helen. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 N. PURDY, R. GEORGE, of Saginaw. passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at Covenant Cooper. Age 83 years. He was born January 10, 1917 in Birmingham, MI to the late Lester O. and Celestine (Green) Purdy. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Alma College and began teaching at Arthur Hill High School at that time. He served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific during W.W.II. He married Harriet Schmitz of Pleasant Ridge, MI on June 11, 1949; she survives him. During his teaching career at Arthur Hill, Mr. Purdy coached tennis and also started the tennis program for the City of Saginaw Recreation Program. He remained actively involved in tennis and played until he was 78 years of age. He was one of the original inductees to the Michigan Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame. Surviving besides his wife are his son and daughter and their spouses: Sam and Judie Purdy of Ferndale; Judy and Dennis Stark of Los Gatos, CA; two granddaughters, Sara Williams of Seattle, WA and Susannah Williams of San Francisco, CA; many nieces and nephews. Three brothers and two sisters predeceased him. A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2000 at the W.L. Case & Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw. Dr. Robert L. Emrich will officiate. Friends may call at the Chapel from 4 p.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Heart Association.
