STREHL, FRANK GERARD, SR. 78, of Northport, died Monday at Leelanau Memorial Health Center. Born July 13, 1921, in Detroit, he was the son of Michael and Matilda (Ellert) Strehl. In 1941, in Toledo, OH, he married Geraldine F. Hale, who preceded him in death on February 11, 1994. Frank served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was employed as a carpenter and was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church in Gills Pier, MI. He is survived by a son, Frank (Stephanie) Strehl, Jr. of Northport; daughter, Charlotte (Michael) Monaghan of Harper Woods; five grandchildren, Francis B., Nathan M., Catharine Ann, Michael P. and Robert J.; one great grandchild, Natalie Grace; and a sister, Betty McGill of Phoenix, Ariz. Burial was at Beechwood cemetery, Leland, MI. Memorials may be directed to Leelanau Memorial Health Center, Northpoint, MI. Arrangements were handled by Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
