Kable, Antoinette Toni, Ypsilanti, MI

Age 79, died Tuesday, February 2, 1999 at University of Michigan Hospital. She was born September 23, 1919, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Mark and Mary (Ras) Gorka. On August 19, 1944, she married Wayne Kable and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1993. Mrs. Kable was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Survivors include one son: Kenneth (Dorothy) W. Kable of Saginaw, MI; and one daughter: Cheryl (Michael) Hassett of Chelsea, MI; six grandchildren: Mark, Timothy and Laura Kable and Patrick (Lynda) and James Hassett and Tina (Matt) Rothamel; one step great granddaughter: Kaysher Campbell; sister-in-law: Julia Gorka; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Anna Puzio, Stanley Gorka, Stella Paris, Joseph Gorka and Tillie Sowa. Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 410 W. Cross St., Ypsilanti, with Fr. Edmond Ertzbischoff as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Hedwig cemetery, Dearborn Heights, MI. Contributions in Mrs. Kables honor may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at Janowiak Funeral Home, Geer-Logan Chapel where the family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., with a scripture service at 7 p.m.

Doyen, Margaret A., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 89, died Monday, February 1, 1999 at Saline Evangelical Home. She was born October 15, 1909 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Floyd Daniel Fitzgerald and Clara Charlot Emily Kolbe. She was united in marriage to Ernest W. Doyen May 2, 1940. He preceded her in death March 16, 1941. Margaret was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is survived by her son, David E. (Shirley R.) Doyen; two grandchildren, Jeffery (Julie) Doyen of Lansing, and Vickie Doyen of Ann Arbor; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Robert Fitzgerald. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 5, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. at MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL with Rev. Thomas D. Prochaska and Sr. Dorine Gapczynski officiating. Interment will be at Washtenong Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or Saline Evangelical Home.

Ferguson, Agatha E., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 87, died suddenly Tuesday, February 2, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. She was born in Maple Grove, MI, the daughter of Charles and Nora (Farnsworth) Carpenter. On June 28, 1931 she married Ford Ferguson in Owosso, MI. Agatha and her husband were members of Bethlehem United Church of Christ. Mrs. Ferguson is survived by her husband, Ford; her children, David Ferguson of Pinellas Park, FL and Judy (Gary) Kniffen of Canton, MI; granddaughters, Tracy (Steven) Delfuoco and Kelly Kniffen; one sister, Dorothy Miller; half-brother, James Reid and two half-sisters, Phyllis and Betty Conway. No services are planned. Interment will be in Bethlehem cemetery. Arrangements by MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL.

Voeller, Albert A., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 66, died Tuesday, February 2, 1999, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer at Whitehall Nursing Home in Pittsfield Township. He was born September 26, 1932, in Balta, ND, the son of Martin and Katherine (Eisenzimmer) Voeller. Mr. Voeller proudly served his country in Korea from 1950-53 in the 82nd Airborne Division and was honorably discharged as a corporal. On June 2, 1960 he married Jacqueline Woods, who preceded him in death on February 18, 1994. Albert worked at the Ypsilanti Ford plant for forty years and was a member of UAW in Ypsilanti and the Ann Arbor Moose. Mr. Voeller is survived by his sons, Gregory Jon (Teri) of Phoenix, AZ, Jason Grant of Hamburg Township, MI and Brent Anton (Ellen) of Ann Arbor; and his grandson, Gregory Jon Voeller, Jr. Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 6 at Noon at MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Washtenaw County or the American Lung Association.

Clickner, George B. Sr., Brooksville, FL

Age 67, died Wednesday, January 20, 1999 in Brooksville, FL. He was born on October 23, 1931 in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of Clifford and Ruth (Peterson) Clickner. George moved from Britton, MI to Florida three years ago. He was a retired carpenter in residential construction, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion in Dexter, MI. George was Catholic. Survivors include three sons, George II of Chelsea, Kevin of Clinton, and Todd of Howell; two daughters, Kris of Atlanta, MI, Linda O'brien of Ann Arbor; a brother, Donald of Pinckney; two sisters, Rose Vogel of Ann Arbor, Judy Mast of Dexter; and 11 grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 6, 1 p.m., at Lenawee Hills cemetery, Tecumseh, MI. Memorial contributions to the American Lung Association. Local arrangements by COLE FUNERAL CHAPEL, Chelsea.

South, Barry D., Ypsilanti, MI

Age 52, died suddenly Monday, February 1, 1999 at his parents home in Ypsilanti, MI. He was born December 13, 1946 in Selmer, TN. Barry was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Ann Arbor. Barry worked 30 years for Ford Motor Company, Local 898, ending his career as a millwright. Barry was the son of surviving parents, Cleo (Moore) and Noah Milton South Sr. Their first child, Mary Ann preceded his death at her birth in 1945. His younger brother, Noah (Mary Beth) Milton South Jr. survive. Barry is also survived by his three children, Eric, Tanya, and Emily. The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 4, and the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 5. Visitation and service will be held at the NIE FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Carpenter Road.

Larmee, Virginia, Ann Arbor, MI

Age 90, long-time Ann Arbor resident and member of St. Thomas Parish, died Tuesday at the Arbor Hospice Residence. Virginia earned a degree in the classics at the University of Michigan, and went on to a career as an executive assistant at J.L. Hudson's. In her retirement, she was known for her generosity and charitable work, particularly in the pastoral care ministry at St. Josephs Hospital. She was also a member of the City Club of Ann Arbor. She is survived by her sister, Florence (Donald) White of San Antonio, TX and brother, Donald (Jeanne) Larmee of Chicago, IL; many nieces and nephews; devoted friends and neighbors, Gail and Bob O'Reilly; and her friends at Hillside Terrace Residence. Burial will be private. Visitation Saturday, February 6 from Noon-1:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Church, Ann Arbor, will be followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:00 p.m. Please omit flowers. Donations to the Father Thomas Carey Scholarship Fund at St. Thomas Elementary School or the Arbor Hospice Residence will be appreciated.

Age 82, husband of Rachel; father of Merna A. (Dennis) Bristow; grand father of Steven D. (Suzanne) Bristow, all of Dexter. Powell, Mary, Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 81, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born August 8, 1917 in Prestonsburg, KY, the daughter of Sam and Katie (Scutchfield) McGuire. On July 7, 1941, she married Arnold B. Powell in Prestonsburg, KY and he preceded her in death July 5, 1977. Mrs. Powell retired from the Ypsilanti State Hospital after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Ypsilanti. Survivors include: one daughter, Sue (Clinton) Carver of Ypsilanti; one granddaughter, Nancy (Chris) Evans of Ypsilanti; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 1999 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 p.m. Friday.

Avey, Kay M., Whitmore Lake, MI

Age 60, died February 3, 1999 at her home. She was born on February 26, 1938 in Detroit. Kay is survived by her beloved children, John (Michelle), Robert, Mark, Tim (Kim), all of Whitmore Lake, and Aimee Avey of South Lyon; her mother, Edna Marie Wilson of Farmington; her brother, Mike Wilson of Florida; her grandchildren, Jason, Ian, Robbie, Colby, Mark, Steven, Angel, Alysa, Timmy, John Spence, and Dylon Kaufmann. She was preceded in death by her father and brother. Kay was employed at GM Willow Run for 13 years retiring in 1992. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 1999 at the BELL-BOREK FUNERAL HOME, Hamburg with Fr. Terry Dumas of Old St. Patrick Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Washtenong cemetery.

Jacobs-Tyler, Pamela J., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 50, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at home, following a lengthy illness. She was born August 16, 1948 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Clarence and Thelma (Howard) Tyler. She was a member of New Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an usher. She was a member of Daisey Chain Temple #212. Survivors include: two daughters, Lydia (Michael) Hughbanks and Leticia (Tony) Jacobs, both of Ann Arbor; three sons, Roderick (Shatonya), Damon and Derrick Robinson, all of Ann Arbor; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Judith Franklin of Ann Arbor and Barbara Covington of MO; seven brothers, Jack (Tony) Tyler of Ann Arbor, David Tyler of Ypsilanti, Clarence (Mary) Tyler of Nebraska, Tommy Dunlap of MO and Leon, Ricky and Victor Ballard; stepmother, Nellie Tyler; a very special niece, Johanna Smith; three good friends, Corine Williams, Joyce Jones and Lela Malcolm; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 8, 1999 at New Progressive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. C.E. Lewis II officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Scleroderma Foundation. Envelopes are available at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-9 Sunday. The family hour will be 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Graves, Mark William, Ypsilanti, MI

Age 38, died Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born February 17, 1960, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the son of Richard J. and Eugenia M. (Burrett) Graves. Mark was employed as a computer programmer at A.D.P. in Ann Arbor, and also was the owner of the Bangkok Grill in Toledo, Ohio. Survivors include his wife, Prisada Sriamdi of Toledo, Ohio; father, Richard Graves of Whitmore Lake; two brothers, Greg (Jeanne) Graves of Troy, Michigan and David (Margaret Opland) Graves of New Milford, Conn; six nieces and nephews; aunt and uncle, Reginald and Doris Mitchell of Big Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1984. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 7, 1999 at 12 noon at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Allen officiating. Contributions may be to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the time of service or by contacting JANOWIAK FUNERAL HOME, Geer-Logan Chapel.

Dalley, Orien Emil, (Formerly of Ann Arbor)

Musician, orchestra conductor and educator. Born 1-3-03 in Alta, Wyoming, died 2-3-99 in Napa, California. He earned his teaching certificate at what is now Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah; his Bachelors and Masters degree in music education from the University of Michigan. He was Director of Orchestras and Choir at the University of Wisconsin. He subsequently became the Director of Orchestra and Band at Emporia State Teachers College in Kansas. Afterwards he was Professor of Music at Wichita State University and Conductor of The Wichita Symphony Orchestra. In 1950 he accepted the position at the University of Michigan as Administrator of the school of Music and remained there until he retired in 1975. He played a vital role in the establishment of the National Music Camp at Interlochen, Michigan where his most notable contribution was the development of the All State Division. His accomplishments were many, among them six months of study with Jean Sipelius in Finland, the founding of the Summer Music Clinics at the University of Wisconsin, and the establishment of the Wichita Youth Symphony and Michigan Youth Symphony. As a special envoy for UNESCO, he was sent to Finland to modernize its secondary school music education system, and in 1976 he was honored as one of Michigan's Men of the Year. He was preceded in death by his wife Gretchen, his eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by two sons, two daughters and seven grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 6, 1999 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Summit, Utah. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services and requests that memorials be made to the Walter K. Granger Memorial Endowment at Southern Utah University, Cedar City, Utah 84720 in lieu of flowers.

Jones, Bryon Eugene, Ypsilanti, MI

Age 56, passed away on February 2, 1999. He was born November 19, 1942 in Kalamazoo, MI. He completed a comprehensive printing program at Michigan Vocational Institute. He had been a master printer in the Ann Arbor area for many years and had owned Paragon Rapid Copy Center in Ann Arbor. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Carl) Jones Elliott of Schoolcraft, MI; his parents, Harold and Virginia Jones of Benton, IL; his sister, Bonnie (D'Arcy) Cutler of Campbellsville, KY; two nieces; and one great niece. He is lovingly remember by close friends and family in a memorial service at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1515 S. Harris Rd, Ypsilanti, MI on Saturday, February 6, 1999. There will be a private graveside service in Campbellville, KY.

Barski, Gina M., Age 43, died February 3, 1999 after a

long battle with cancer. Gina was born May 27, 1956, the daughter of Bobby G. and Dona L. (Calloway) Sandefer in Ypsilanti. She married John Barski on August 17, 1985 and he survives. Also surviving: one son, Edmund; one daughter, Dona; her mother, Dona Sandefer of Saline; her two brothers, Norman and Stephen Sandefer; and her sister, Cheryl Darnell. Gina was preceded in death by her father. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the M.G. Braun Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Committal service from the funeral home on Monday, February 8 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Highland cemetery, Brooklyn.

Purdy, Paul P., Sr., Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 80, passed away Thursday, February 4, 1999 at home. He was born May 20, 1918 in Willoughby, OH, the son of Walter D. and Louise M. (King) Purdy. He came to Ypsilanti in 1920 and attended Ypsilanti and Lincoln Schools. On November 22, 1947, he married Betty M. Binion in Ypsilanti and she survives. Mr. Purdy was employed by United Stove, Peninsula Paper Co., Ford Motor Co., Ypsilanti Plant and retired from Huron Valley Glass Co. in 1982, after 34 years of employment. He was a member of the Ypsilanti Auxiliary Police, was a Deputy Sheriff under Sheriffs Klage and Peterson, was a member of Southern Michigan Law Enforcement Organization and was a volunteer Ypsilanti Township Firefighter. In addition to his wife, survivors include: two sons, William and Robert; one daughter, Paulette Bommarito of Ypsilanti; one stepson, Raymond (Janice) Winkelman of Ypsilanti; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Lear, Michael Tripp, Tisha and Jill Winkelman, Vicky (Jimmy) Kissella, Dreama (Mickey) Szagda and Priscilla Woody, all of Ypsilanti; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Billy in 1990; one granddaughter, Karen Purdy in infancy; two brothers, Walter and Riley; one sister, Phillina Hawks. The funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, February 8, 1999 at STARK FUNERAL SERVICE Moore Memorial Chapel with Brother Nathanial Nix, Associate Pastor of the Apostolic Faith Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday.
