Davis, Mother Flossie Lee,

Mother Flossie Lee Davis was born to the union of the late Charley and Mollie McAfee on December 3, 1904 in Troupe County, Georgia. She was united in holy matrimony to the late James Davis in 1928. To this union five children were born. As a youth she attended Knox Baptist Church, and there she received her formal education. In 1910, she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in La Grange, Georgia, under the pastorage of the late Rev. Bennett. After moving to Michigan in 1968, she became affiliated with St. John Missionary Baptist Church, and later became a loyal and dedicated member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mother Davis served faithfully and tirelessly for many years on the Missionary Society Board and the Mothers Board. Mother Davis led avery active and productive life. She was dedicated to her church, her family and especially her grandchildren. Mother Davis was quietly called from this life on February 10, 1999. She leaves to cherish in her memory: three children, Henry Grady Davis (Grace), Clarance Davis, and Richard Cason Davis (Jovita); ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren, all of Ypsilanti; a very special niece, Mrs. Mary Gillenwater; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Davis; her daughter, Helen Hurst; and her son, Wilbur Davis. Service will be held Monday, February 15, 1999 12:00 p.m. Family hour 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, MI. Rev. Garther Roberson officiating. Burial will be at United Memorial Gardens. Visitation Sunday 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Lucilles Funeral Home. Arrangements by LUCILLES FUNERAL HOME.

Schlegel, Ruth E., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 94, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 1999 at Saline Community Hospital, Saline, MI. She was born March 3, 1904 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Andrew and Marie (Larmee) Neff. Ruth was a life long Ann Arbor resident. On April 2, 1925, Ruth married Claud A. Schlegel in Ann Arbor, MI; he preceded her in death in October of 1983. She was employed as a legal secretary and was a life member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ. She was a member and secretary for the Women of the Moose Lodge #890 for over 65 years. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Arthur) Scherdt of Ann Arbor; two grandsons, Jeffrey of Ann Arbor and Robert (Billie) Scherdt of Whitmore Lake; two great granddaughters, Shelby and Ryan Scherdt;five step grandchildren, Arthur Jr., James, Randal, Dennis, and Judy Pherson; one sister, Katherine Kapp of Lansing, MI; several nieces and nephews including Robert (Betty) and Gerald (Mae) Kapp, also of Lansing, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claud; one brother, Ernest Neff; and one brother-in-law, Arthur Kapp. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 1999 at 1 p.m. at MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL with Rev. William Utke officiating.Interment will follow at Bethlehem cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel where a lodge service will be held at 7:30 p.m. For those who wish, contributions may be made to Bethlehem Church in memory of Mrs. Schlegel.

Beyer, Leona S., Ypsilanti Township, MI

Age 89, passed away Thursday, February 11, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born March 10, 1909 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Paul and Emalee Lanckriet. On September 17, 1927, she married Chester A. Beyer in Detroit and he survives. She was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church. In addition to her husband, survivors include: one brother, Remi Lanckriet of Harper Woods, MI; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 1999 at Transfiguration Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. David Franco O.S.F.S. celebrant. Burial will be in St. John cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Home for Boys Endowment. Envelopes are available at the church where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of mass Saturday. Mondich, Esther I.,

Age 87, died February 10, 1999 at Wesley Woods Methodist Home, Fruit Cove, Florida. She was born June 2, 1911 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Robert A. and Martha E. (Bethke) Seegar. She had been a resident of Ann Arbor until 1990 when she moved to Jacksonville, Florida to reside with her nephew and niece, Harold R. and Rosemary Hines. She had been a buyer for Goodyears Department Store for over 50 years. She married DeWitt C. (Jim) Mondich on September 6, 1958, who preceded her in death on June 26, 1990. She was a life member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ. She is survived by Andrew F. and Bessie Patrina of Jacksonville, Florida; Grace Seegar of Ann Arbor and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 15, at the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Burial will be made in Forest Hills cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Bethlehem Church Restoration Fund. The family will receive visitors from2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 14.

Monier, Eugene Curly Leon, Ypsilanti, Michigan

Age 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 1999. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 1999 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City, Montana. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Custer Co. cemetery.

Manier, Danny L.

Boynton Beach, FL(Formerly of Belleville, MI)Age 37, died February 6, 1999 from complications of pneumonia. His love of running was halted by a paralyzing accident at the age of 16. He turned to running rock bands and a trucking company. His most cherished hobby was collecting Red Wing memorabilia, he loved those Wings! Mike and Nikki spent many hours at his side, watching the Wings, and just keeping him company. All that contributed to his care will miss him forever. Danny always managed to find some good in everybody and never lost his faith in people, always extending a helping hand. His dog Sheba, faithful companion, left his side after 17 years taking much of Dannys spirit with him. His is survived by his dad, Ed (Sharon) Manier of Ypsilanti; mom, Marlene Manier; brother, Jim (Diane) Manier; sister, Vickie Ledger; nephew, Mike and niece, Nikki, all of FL; step-siblings, Claudia (Rick) LaPensee, Jeff (Sheila) Collins, Angela (Bill) Buie, Rhonda (Kelly) Kubitskey, Ray Collins; and his best friend, Dewey Whitley, who weathered many storms with him, helping him with the needs that the handicapped must endure. Funeral services will be held February 20, 1999 2 p.m. at the Atlanta Funeral Home, Atlanta, Michigan.

Perschbacher, Margaret Mary,

Age 75, passed in to our Lords arms in Anacortes, WA on February 7, 1999. She was born on June 13, 1923, in Milliken, MI, the daughter of William Jung Pohly and Jessie Elizabeth Sexton. Her father and grandfather were both Methodist ministers. She was preceded in passing by her brothers, Richard, Paul, Ward and a sister, Hilda Jean. Catherine Ruth Harrison is the only surviving sister. Margaret married Wesley Adolph Gustolph Perschbacher on November 11, 1945 in Paw Paw, MI. After Wesleys passing in 1982, Margaret lived in Ann Arbor where she was a founding member and Senior Warden of the Church Of The Incarnation, before moving to be with her grandchildren in Oscoda and then Anacortes. Margaret received a B.A. in Art from Albion College in 1944. Continuing her lifelong desire to expand her horizons in 1984 she received her M.A. from Sienna Heights College and became one of the first registered art therapists in Michigan. She was the editor of the associations newsletter and later was made a lifetime member of the American Art Therapists Association. Her great loves were watercolor, painting and sketching. Most of her work involved landscapes, but she was also an accomplished portrait artist. Margaret is survived by sons, Peter Wesley of Pine Bluff, AK; Paul Thomas, living in New Delhi, India; John Phillip of Chesire, CT; and Mark William of Anacortes. Her grandchildren, Shana, Maya, Ana, Kirk, Beau and Kai were her greatest treasure and delight. Margaret will be remembered as a caring, loving person who lived life to the fullest and rejoiced in all its wonder. There will be a Memorial Service for Margaret this summer at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Pittsfield Twp., MI

Kimbrell, Charles William, Willis, MI

Age 58, died Friday, February 12, 1999 in his home under the care of his family and Arbor Hospice. He was born on December 9, 1940 in Malden, MO to Lawrence and Alberta (Sheehy) Kimbrell. He moved to the Milan area in 1952 and married Nancy Masten on September 26, 1964 as she survives. Charles was a member of the Lincoln Community United Methodist Church, Washtenaw Sportsman Club Inc., the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and was a past member of the Augusta Township Volunteer Fire Department. He received his education as a licensed aircraft mechanic at the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and began working in the airline industry in 1960 and was a mechanic for over 34 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Mark (Kimberly) Kimbrell of Milan; a daughter, Amy (David) Quel of Whitmore Lake; one grandson, Tyler William Kimbrell of Milan; two sisters, Joann (James) Wallis of Auburn Hills and Sue Kimbrell of Davison. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan Sunday, February 14 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday, 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lincoln Community United Methodist Church with Reverend Walter Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Azalia cemetery, Azalia. Those desiring may make contributions to the Lincoln United Methodist Church, Arbor Hospice or to PAWS with a Cause.

Russell, William J. (Bill), Dexter, MI

Age 70, passed away February 12, 1999 at Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, MI. He was born March 23, 1928 in Ann Arbor, MI the son of Leo and Bernice (Hannaford) Russell. He lived in Dexter for 31 years. Bill was a long term staff member of the Department of Radiology of the University of Michigan Hospital. He was the Chief Radiological Technician at the time of this retirement. He will be remembered for his expertise and perfection and his compassion for his patients. Bill was a key member of the Michigan Team that x-rayed the Egyptian Pharaohs and Queen of the New Kingdom Period and the Modern Nubian people of Kom Ombo. He co-authored several articles on his experience in x-raying mummies. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Ann (David) Hughes; one sister-in-law, Patricia Russell; one brother-in-law, James Amerman; and several nieces and nephews, and devoted friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Patricia; one brother, Guy Patrick; and a niece, Lynn Amerman. A memorial service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, on Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at 11 a.m. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL on Tuesday, February 16, 1999 from 11-2 and 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Arbor Hospice.

Collyer, Aletha M., Ann Arbor, MI

The Lord called Aletha M. Collyer home during her sleep early in the morning of February 12 at the age of 85. She had been afflicted with a type of ALS, Lou Gehrigs disease. She was born on August 14, 1913 to the Reverend Arthur and Keturah (Weyeneth) Beedon in Otisville, Genesse County, Michigan. At age four, she lost her mother. Because her father was a Methodist minister, she and her family moved many times in her youth. After attending several elementary schools, she graduated from Lincoln High School, (Willis) in 1930, the schools sixth graduating class. She enrolled in Albion College, where she lived off campus to earn her board and room. After her graduation from Albion College with a bachelors degree in home economics in 1934 she became a teacher. In 1960 she earned her masters degree from Western Michigan College. In 1936 she married Carl E. Thunder in Detroit and moved to Marshall, Michigan where she raised three children. In 1952 her marriage ended in divorce. In November 1959 she married her high school sweetheart, Eugene P. Collyer, and moved to the Willis-Whitaker, Michigan area where she once again renewed friendships from her high school days. Her career included teaching, in Carleton elementary school one-room schools in the Marshall and Tekonsha area, and Harper Creek schools. After an interim in which she held positions in food service she returned to teaching. Upon moving to Willis, she taught briefly at Lincoln Junior High School and at Sumpter school. She completed her teaching career as a seventh grade math and science teacher in Bellevilles South Junior High. Health problems caused an end to her teaching career. In food service, she managed the cafeteria in Post Cereals Carton and Container Division in Battle Creek. She also designed and supervised cafeteria at Woodlin Metals, Marshall. Alethas last food service position was as the owner and operator of the Imperial Grill, west of Marshall. She loved serving people and was easily loved by many. In 1975 she and Eugene, along with his brother Kempster, moved to Florida, where she lived in Palmetto and Ellenton. While in Florida she attended to the care of both her brother-in-law and her husband. After the death of Eugene in 1992, she moved back to Michigan where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Keturah and Oscar Haab. She was one who really found a joy in life and accepted the hardships that shaped her life. Her Christian faith was the stabilizer in her life. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Marshall after she married her first husband. She was always active in her church teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, being a leader in the Ladies Aid, and singing in the choir. Attending worship services regularly, she was an inspiration to many. Even as her health failed her, she gladly assisted in preparing mailings for the International Student Ministry which has an office at Concordia College, Ann Arbor. She is survived by her daughter, Keturah Thunder Haab, of Ann Arbor; and her sons, Douglas Carl (Patricia) Thunder of Carson City, Nevada, and Gary Albert (Eileen) Thunder of Ypsilanti; her grandchildren, Scott (Christi) Thunder and Dr. Kenneth (Tammy) Thunder, both of Sparks, Nevada and Dr. Timothy Thunder of Portland, Oregon, Kimberly (Michael) Lowd of Avon Park, Florida, Stacy (Darrin) Carpenter of Milan, and Tricia Thunder and her fiance, Chris Pietrzyk of Milan. Her great grandchildren are Michael Lowd Jr., Jessica and James Carpenter, and Alexa Thunder. Also surviving are her 91 year old sister Mabel Donning of Westerville, Ohio and her 81 year old brother, Clinton Beedon of Torrance, California, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceasing her are her parents; her husband; an infant son, Ford Herbert Thunder; sister, Marian Woodward; and brothers, Frances, Clarence, Earnest, and Kenneth Beedon. Visitation will be at Nie Funeral Home on Monday, February 15 from 6-8 p.m. The celebration of life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ann Arbor on Tuesday, February 16 at 1:00 with visitation there at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at Union-Udell cemetery, Ypsilanti Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutherans radio ministry, 420 W. Liberty, Ann Arbor, 48103, International Student Ministry, 4090 Geddes Road, 48105, or Individualized Home Nursing Care/Hospice, c/o Society Bank, 100 S. Main, Ann Arbor 48103.

Earl, Robert W., Ann Arbor, MI

Age 42, passed away Friday, February 12, 1999. Mr. Earl served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. He also was a captain with Kitty Hawk Air Cargo. He is survived by his wife, Karen Earl; two daughters, Charlotte and Katie; beloved brother of Deborah (Bill) Costello, Brian Earl, Jill Jack, Thomas (Pam) Earl; parents, Patricia and William V. Earl; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 16, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Dexter Gospel Church, Baker Road, Dexter, MI with Rev. John ODell officiating. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to the family in memory of Mr. Earl. Arrangements are by MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL.

Consalvo, Angela A., Milan, MI

Angela Consalvo, age 76 and Milan resident for over 40 years, died Saturday, February 13, 1999 in Saline Community Hospital, Saline. She was born October 14, 1922 in Springfield, MO to James and Mary (Francka) Otradovec. She married Nicholas Consalvo on May 16, 1942 in Carlin, MO and he preceded her in death in 1974. Angela graduated from St. Johns Hospital School of Nursing, Springfield, in 1943 as a registered nurse, was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan and its Altar Society and was a past volunteer with the Milan Chapter of the American Red Cross. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy (James) Burger of Ann Arbor; two brothers, Edward and Charles Otradovec; one sister, Kay Ruszicka all of Springfield, MO; a granddaughter, Brenda (Todd) Macon of Milan; several nieces and nephews and a beloved family friend, Toni Nalepka of Saline. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy; two brothers and one sister. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions to any Hospice of their choice. Arrangements were entrusted to the OCHALEK-STARK FUNERAL HOME in Milan.

Russell, William J. (Bill), Dexter, MI

Age 70, passed away February 12, 1999 at Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor, MI. A memorial service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, on Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at 11 a.m. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL on Tuesday, February 16, 1999 from 11-2 and 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Arbor Hospice.

Paul, Robert A., Ypsilanti, MI

Age 84, died February 11, 1999 at the Arbor Hospice Residence. Robert was born in Ann Arbor on June 29, 1914, the son of Alfred J. and Emma (Gwinner) Paul. On January 6, 1939 he married Geraldine Ware at Bethlehem Church. She preceded him in death in 1996. Robert retired as chief accountant at the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of Bethlehem Church where he served on the Board of Trustees, and a member of Elks Lodge #325. Survivors include one son, Alfred J. (Anna) Paul; one daughter, Mary A. (Richard) Friend; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jonathon, and Jason Paul of Ann Arbor, Jennifer (Alan) Adams of Oceanside, CA, Robert (Sara) Friend of Jacksonville, FL, William Friend of Virginia Beach, VA; one great grandson, Alexander Adams; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 1999 at 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 423 S. 4th Ave., Ann Arbor. Rev. Gregory Smith will officiate. There will be a reception following the memorial service at the church. Burial will be at Bethlehem cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bethlehem Church or Arbor Hospice. Arrangements by MUEHLIG CHAPEL. Robert took great pride in his Ann Arbor heritage. He was a great-grandson of Jacob Paul who settled in the Ann Arbor area in 1829.
